The prospect to hunt a deer while in rut is a one of its kind experience that can produce tremendous success if done properly. Accurate scouting is always a must. As the mantra goes in real estate: location, location, location. It is the same for hunting the rut.

Once you have effectively found a scrape or rub line, the next job is locating your surprise attack point. As always, think about the wind direction and topography of your surroundings before placing a blind or tree stand. Is your location an area deer are likely to visit on their way to feeding zones or are they likely to pass through heading off to bedding area? After taking into consideration these factors, you will be ready to decide on the area to hunt.

Is triumph eluding you while hunting a rub line or scrape? Try hunting during different hours of the day. During the rut, a buck’s movement patterns are more likely to revolve around a hot doe than his stomach. In fact, many bucks are shot every year in the rut during the middle of the day.

If varying your hunting hours doesn’t work or just is not possible, there are other things that you can try to get the buck you have been hunting within range. If a friend has only just harvested a buck from another area, ask them for the buck’s tarsal gland. Be careful not to taint the gland with human scent. This can be avoided by handling the gland with gloved hands and transporting it in a sealed container. This gland can be hung close to a scrape or rub that you are hunting. The scent of a new buck in the area will bring the trophy buck you have been pursuing out to scrutinize.

Another way to get a glimpse of the trophy you have been pursuing is find a different buck’s scrape. Again with gloved hands and a sealable container harvest some of the urine scented dirt and droppings from the other scrape. Then place what you collected on top of the scrape you have been hunting. The territorial buck in your area will come to see which one of his rivals is trying to steal his does.

Scent is an indispensable part of hunting most animals. Scent is very important during the rut and while hunting rub lines or scrapes. Always hunt the downwind side of the rub or scrape. There are many scent attractants on the market that come in liquid and solid states. Bucks may be lured into visiting their scrapes more often by adding doe-in-heat urine to their scrapes.

Another way to get bucks to move into view is to create a drag line. This can easily be done by soaking a scent free cloth attached to about 8 feet of string or light-weight rope in doe-in-heat urine or a similar attractant. Drag this cloth across near by trails leading into your shooting lanes always being mindful of where you step to prevent contaminating the area with your human scent. After you have created your drag line hang the cloth from a nearby tree for extra scent attractants.

Giving yourself adequate shade and wearing clothing that is cool in the summer will let you relish fishing without running the risk of heat stroke or bad sunburn.

For the serious fisher, fishing apparel is more than just a shirt and pants to cover up with to keep warm. In winter, gloves are also necessary to prevent your hands from being frost bitten when you are not dealing with small detail tasks that require you to remove your gloves. When fishing, wearing appropriate fishing apparel can ensure that you are comfortable when you savor your day fishing. Gloves, especially when dealing with fish such as musky and pike, can prevent your fingers from being damaged from the spines and teeth of the fish. For those who take fishing seriously, fishing apparel is a way to enhance your fishing experience.

These vests come in a variety of different styles, including long sleeved and short sleeved. It is recommended that if you are exposing yourself to a lot of sun while you are fishing, especially on open water, that you wear sunblock as well as light, cool clothing. There are vests designed for winter wear and ice fishing, which give more room for sweaters to be worn underneath it. These vests cover the shirt and are designed to protect against fish hooks , while also providing a place to hang lures, keep sinkers, leaders and other useful items when you are fishing. Made of thicker materials, fishing apparel can withstand the fish hook tears, blood and dirt that typically comes with fishing.

For summer fishing apparel, the materials tend to be more of a mesh, allowing fishers to stay cool while being out in the sun. When you are selecting your fishing apparel, it is vital that you know what temperatures you will be exposed to. In addition to this, fishing apparel is usually designed to allow for extra pockets and places to hang extra fishing gear for easy access. One of the key difference between standard clothes and fishing apparel is how durable the clothing is. This is extremely useful when you are going on a serious fishing trip for trophy fish, as it saves time and lets you focus on catching your fish.

One of the most common pieces of fishing apparel is the fishing vest. Sunglasses, good quality shoes and gloves are also pieces of fishing apparel that you should buy.

Deep sea fishing is a wonderful and extremely enjoyable activity. Here are some tips that will make your salt water fishing adventure even better.

by Peli De Santos

Deep sea fishing is a wonderful and extremely enjoyable activity. Here are some tips that will make your salt water fishing adventure even better.

1. Watch the signs

If you see birds e.g. Seagulls that are feasting on small bait-type fishes, there are probably larger game-type fish below the surface of the water. Also, look for floating wood or debris. In most cases when you chance upon a large floating wood, you would find a large game fish in the area even encountering dolphin.

2. Stop, Snook and Listen

Fishing for snooks is quite similar as fishing for bass. Snooks like to be around ledges, posts and rocks.

3. Crabs for full moon

During full moons use soft crab imitations as bait. That’s the time when crabs shed their shells and stripers come looking for them.

4. If you’re looking for tunas, find the dolphins

Yellowfin tuna are usually found schooling with dolphins. So if you see a group of dolphins, chances are there are some tuna in the area.

5. Cut and Burn

If you have trouble cutting through a spiderwire braid, try using a lighter or a match.

6. Good Reef

The best place to fish is near reefs since big game fish feed on fish that live on reefs.

7. The Circle Hook

Use a circle hook if you would like a higher hook up ratio. These hooks guarantees more catch, because of the minute gap, and the reverse point. They are generally better for the fish since they do not hook in the gut just the lip.

8. Fish where the fish are

A lot of fisherman have the idea that they should be catching their live baits over the reefs before going to deep waters. If the live baits are not in the area you’re planning to catch the larger games, then why would you come up with the idea that the large fish are there. Wouldn’t they be in the area where the bait fish are?

9. Anchors away

When your anchor is stuck at the bottom, try attaching a float to it. Return after the tide has changed in direction. This should be enough to loosen the anchor.

10. Dont have sea legs

Watch the horizon and stay on deck. These would generally help you if you’re having trouble with sea sickness: Stay away from the boat fumes, breathing it only exacerbates the problem.

by Frank Gehry

You may be planning to put new seats in an old boat, or maybe you want to modify existing seating. In both cases, it will make sense to address yourself to a custom boat seat manufacturer. Follow this guide to learn how to do it.

Boat seats can serve multiple special purposes on watercraft. Some seats are made for captains and skippers, others for the crew, and others again for passengers or people fishing. You need to bear the specifics and the purpose of the seat in mind when ordering bespoke boat seats.

The first step to getting purpose-made boat seats is to write down a detailed list for the necessary specifications. Once you have done that, present the list to more than one manufacturer, several if possible.

Once you get their replies, don’t look at the prices right away but compare the way that they reply to your request. It will tell you a lot about who is the more professional builder, and this will be reflected in your successive dealings with them. Only then look at the price.

Space and sizing is the most important factor - you need to make sure that the manufacturer is building the boat seats to the precise measurements of the space where they will be fitted, and if possible that he commits in advance to modifying the seats if they don’t fit on installation.

If you order custom boat seats, there will be a wealth of details that you will need to decide upon, and it’s easy to get lost in the maze of options. Make sure that all the details follow the imperative of function, whether on style, material or color.

Don’t forget any boat seat extras, such as places to affix navigation equipment or fishing rods on the boat. Storage space is also an important and often overlooked component of boat seating.

Boat seat padding can be of many different types, light, medium or heavy, removable as in cushions, or fixed. Be sure to specify all this, especially if you are taking a lot of passengers on your boat.

Make sure that the chosen materials match the boat and the boat seat’s function. For a vintage boat, you want corresponding material. If the seats will be outside and will take a lto fo humidity, they need to be water- and salt-proof.

If your seats are made of or with steel, do ensure that there will be no protruding bolts or other parts that will make it uncomfortable for passengers o sit for a long time. You don’t want those boat seats to be painful seating.

Like trophy fish, bass can be elusive, They prefer certain times of day to eat, which means that you may have to cater to picky fish that only want certain times of food one part of the day, and other types of food in another part of the day.

Like trophy fish, bass can be elusive, They prefer certain times of day to eat, which means that you may have to cater to picky fish that only want certain times of food one part of the day, and other types of food in another part of the day.

This means that if you already have an established fishing kit, you can usually modify your kit to allow for bass fishing. Both of these fish can be caught using similar methods of fishing. As bass fishing is so popular, all tackle stores in bass areas will carry everything that you need so as to catch fish. As some species of bass are threatened, it is suggested that if you are not certain if the fish you have captured is legal, you immediately release the fish. These are the small mouth and the large mouth bass.

There are two types of fish targeted when bass fishing. This will make sure that you have the supplies needed to catch your bass. Bass fishing is one of the most popular forms of fishing. This is due to the fact that bass are known to put up a good fight when hooked, and have great taste. If you are planning a bass fishing venture, you will want to make sure that you check the local regulations for bass season, and make certain that you do not over fish bass.

Nevertheless, many people prefer to target large mouth bass when bass fishing, as these fish are thought to have superior flavor as well as a better fight. In addition to this, bass fishing can be done in many places across the United States and Canada, making these fish easily accessible to those who do not have the funds or motivation to travel long distances for steelhead, salmon and other trophy fish. In the case of striped bass, also known as rock fish, over catching the limit can result in hefty fines. There are some issues when bass fishing that you should keep in mind.

For this reason, many people who go bass fishing will take many types of baits and lures with them when they go. Bass will strike surface and mid water, as well as bottom lures, and can also be hooked while fly fishing. There are many styles you can utilize when bass fishing, which makes this sport enjoyable for all types of anglers. Most regions that allow bass fishing have rules in place on the numbers of bass that can be kept.

Competition archers know that the Hoyt bow brand is a name that demands respect. The advancements in Hoyt technology have given competition and tournament archers an edge among their competition. That’s why Hoyt bows are responsible for the majority of championship wins in competition and tournaments.

Recently the Hoyt’s team Peter Elzinga shot the highest score in the history of the sport. He shot 1419 using a Hoyt bow. Its proven performance like this that allows Hoyt bows to constantly be ranked the highest by competition shooters.

When it comes to technology, Hoyt bows have a number of different designs that make them worth owning. Their Split Limb technology is one such advancement which allows Hoyt to produce quiet, light bows with little vibration.

For those who hunt with a Hoyt bow, they appreciate the light designs when they’re trekking through the wilderness in some of the harshest terrain around. The durability of Hoyt bows should certainly not be overlooked as well. With the split limb design, weaknesses in the design process are reduced when compared to solid limb designs since the v-groove used to mount the cam has been removed.

Hoyt bows employ two different features that reduce vibration including the TEC design which reduces vibration at low frequencies and another advancement called Shox, which helps to reduce vibration ringing.

Hoyt bows offers twenty different compound bows and five different recurve bows. The models include the Powerhawk series, Trykon series, Kobalt, Vantage and Alphamax series. All models are incredible compound bows for recreational hunting or various degrees of competition shooting.

Pick up a Hoyt bow and give it a test drive. Hoyt bows make some of the very best bows with superior technology. Who knows, if you choose a Hoyt bow, you could be a future tournament champion.

There are times when a person wants to go boating, and they want to have a fun experience, and that means they are going to need some sort of boat. The best thing that you can do is purchase a good inflatable raft. Sea Eagle make some great inflatable rafts which can be used for many different applications. Some of these are fly fishing, rafting, floating off into oblivion, or whatever it is that you happen to want. These rafts usually hold three people, and they are extremely durable. There are several different types of inflatable rafts from Sea Eagle, and below we have listed a few of them for you to read about.

The first on the list is the Sea Eagle 6 (SE6). This little beauty is designed to handle 650 pounds. It can comfortable for two people with not much gear so in reality it was designed for one person with not a lot of gear to haul. It is able to use a motor up to 2hp with using the motor mount option. This boat inflatable is extremely light weighing at only 25 pounds.

The Sea Eagle 8 (SE8) is the most popular of the inflatable rafts that are offered. This boat inflatable is designed for a single person, highly maneuverable, rugged and durable. This makes for an excellent raft for both fishing and floating down the river, however this inflatable raft is not to be confused with the Sea Eagle (r)8.

The Sea Eagle r(8) has a set of oars, rowing seat, foot pump, FHS fisherman seat, repair kit, and a set of instructions for those who will actually read them. This raft is built with a two compartment floor which can be inflated, and there is a safety chamber of the main chamber. This really is a great piece of equipment, and it can hold three adults or roughly nine hundred and fifty pounds. Deflated the raft measures 24×21x8, and inflated it can take a 3 horsepower gas engine. This really is a great boat as far as inflatable rafts go, and if you are into some heavy duty lake-faring adventures, then you should definitely look into this one as it w ill not disappoint.

The next size up in Sea Eagle’s boat inflatables is the Sea Eagle 9 Inflatable Raft. This Sea Eagle like the Sea Eagle (r)8 is the preferred choice for river floating and fly fishing but at the same time it is rated for Class III whitewater rafting. The following are what makes this boat inflatable different from the smaller sizes is it capable of holding 5 adults or the weight of 1200 pounds. The exterior measurement is 11′x 4′8″, interior measurement is 7′6″ x 2′4″, weighs 38 pounds, the fabric is 33 mil of Polykrylar, manual air pump time 10 to 15 minutes, the motor option is 4 hp.

There are number of different accessories that you can purchase for this raft which include a sun canopy, windshield, floor boards, and a number of other things. What is added on is entirely up to you.

The next thing that you will want to look at is what is known as the Sea Eagle Sailcat, which measure approximately fourteen feet. The package has the boat, oars, a storage bag made of nylon, two nice comfortable cushions, benches, and the sailing rig. The rig has the mast, mast step, lantern rig, and the tiller/rudder system. The most interesting part about this system is that the sail is able to fold. Deflated the entire thing is about 60″x14″x12″, and inflated it is around 9′6″x4″. The entire thing weighs about ninety seven pounds and can stand up to twenty five mile per hour winds.

Sea Eagle makes some of the greatest inflatable boats on the market, and your search for a decent one ends here. Anything that you could ever want in a raft, Sea Eagle makes. It doesn’t matter if you want to float, fish, or raft, there is a boat for you and you will be pleased with your purchase.

Martin Archery has been making bows since 1951. Its bows are famous and known the world over as the fastest and most accurate bows. From its humble beginnings, Gail and Eva Martin have brought Martin Archery to its present status as one of the premiere archery manufacturers of today. They presently manufacture all kinds of bows, such as the traditional bow, youth bow, and the compound bow.

All Martin archery bows are covered with a lifetime warranty. This is mainly in part to their using a high-compression, three-part laminating system for its limbs, making it more flexible and durable compared to other brands that do without this highly beneficial process. Other manufacturers offer no laminations for their various product lines, while some only contend with dressing it up with a standard epoxy, or just simply mold them. Though more expensive, it’s what makes a Martin Archery bow stand out from the rest.

One such of these terrific Martin Archery compound bows to grace the market is the Jaguar Magnum. It offers a precise and accurate shot in every performance, in whatever conditions and situations. Its Core Flex Limbs store energy in the most effective manner, making every shot a possible bull’s-eye repeatedly.

With an incorporated Dynacam single-cam system that uses speed bearings for minimum friction, it produces a much smoother draw, with an added velocity for every arrow that is shot.

The Jaguar Magnum compound bow is a very forgiving bow with a let-off of 80%, an IBO speed grade of up to 310 fps, a 7 inch brace height, a draw length of 25-30 inches, weighing lightly at only 3 lbs. and 9.5 oz., a 32 1/4 inch length from axle to axle, and a high-caliber machined-magnesium riser.

The Jaguar’s double-helix string is a product of over 50 years of bowstring making on the part of Martin Archery. Martin Double Helix Strings are pre-stretched and served under tension to eliminate stretch and creep. It Martin thought there was a better string than this, it would’ve put them in their bows.

The Jaguar Magnum is one tough compound bow that can easily outclass any bow of its class. There is no target the Jaguar cannot hit with perfect accuracy. Sport shooters and bow hunters will surely be astounded with this durable, flexible, sleek, and smooth offering from Martin Archery.

This compound bow is ready for any challenge it’s going to be put through, whether in hunting game, or in high-stakes competition. The Jaguar Magnum - an extreme bow for extreme challenges.

Everyone knows what a Cocker Spaniel looks like but be in the know that there is actually an English Cocker Spaniel and an American Cocker Spaniel. These two are completely separate breeds but with seemingly similar uses. Both are most often used as gundogs or as conformation show contenders.

There are two varieties of the English Cocker Spaniel and they are the field/working cocker and the show cocker. The working cocker is used as a hunting companion wherein it drives game towards the guns instead of retrieving it. The show cocker on the other hand joins dog sports in conformation shows.

One interesting fact about the English Cocker is that it is continuously wagging its tail as a sign of a merry disposition therefore many have called this breed “merry cocker”. This dog is also notorious for independent and stubborn disposition although it does not mean that it is difficult to train. The English Cocker is innately intelligent and alert and these characteristics show in its face all the time.

It has a sturdy, well-rounded and balanced body. The eyes should be dark and the ears floppy and long enough to reach the tip of the nose when pulled forward together. In most countries, the cocker’s tail is docked except only for those places wherein this practice is prohibited.

There are a lot colors for the English Cocker but some are unacceptable depending on its variety. The show cocker can only have some specific colors but the field cocker can be of any color. There are cockers found in solid colors but there are also some that are found in tricolor and roan.

Examples of the solid colors are black, silver, tan, chocolate, blue, red, gold, copper red and white. Other color combinations are black and white, black and tan, blue tick, blue roan, chocolate and tan, lemon and white, orange and white, red and white, and a lot more! In hunting, hunters prefer that their field cockers have color white in their coats in able to see them properly in the woods.

The English Cocker is well-known for a domineering and stubborn disposition but it can also be extremely loyal, likes to be around people and loves to get close with just one member of the family. This dog is also known to be very affectionate, optimistic, flexible and intelligent. According to Stanley Cohen’s the Intelligence of Dog, the English Cocker ranks 18th in working and obedience intelligence.

Studies revealed that the temperament of the cocker spaniel has relevance to its coat color. According to a study by the University of Cambridge, the solid-colored cockers are more likely to be aggressive than the others. Additionally, a separate study have shown that the Red/Golden colored cockers are the most aggressive towards humans when they are being disciplined or sometimes even for no apparent reason at all.

As our society becomes increasingly technical and urbanized, more people are starting to feel the desire to escape it all. Outdoor sports allow for an excellent getaway from urban life, but one must recall common sense survival skills to enjoy the outdoors with no serious troubles.

More people are beginning to feel the impulse to break loose from everything, pause contemporary life, and regress to the ways of our ancestors. Maybe this causes the growing popularity of camping vacations, the highest experience of going back to nature and surviving in the wild, with just a plain structure for protective cover and a fire for fixing food.

Naturally, many people don’t exactly do it that way. Camper vans are common, and all forms of electrical appliances have been modified for camping - there are even camp microwaves. Most people regard at least modern toilets and showers to be a campsite requirement, no matter if it’s actually faithful to the feel of the outdoors. Camping doesn’t really require being an outdoors affair if you don’t want it to be, as many camper vans aren’t that much unlike from homes on wheels, and many families rest in them for the majority of their holiday. It’s all about doing what you feel at ease with.

For intense campers, however, the sincerest form of camping is camping which involves survival skills, including consuming wild caught food, finding your way around by the placement of the sun and building fire. You would have to be incredibly hungry to eat the animals that can be found in the woods of most countries, however, and on these grounds, camping with facilities and brought food is often more popular.

An essential survival instrument is a good flashlight. There are many newer LED flashlights which are rather bright, and enduring on battery lifespan. Even more reliable in an emergency is a crank or shake flashlight which doesn’t need any batteries, and which will always be there in difficult moments.

Most campsites are in woods or open fields, and are often publically-owned - if you want to find one, they should be clearly marked on maps for walkers and on road signs for cars. It’s up to you what you take with you, but most people will prefer to have at least a tent, sleeping bags, torches, and either a tool for making firewood or portable oven where campfires aren’t allowed.
