This bright, cheery floral bandage dress has been screaming at me from the depths of my closet all winter long. It's from the 80's and has a really low scoop back. Perfect for the hot weather ahead. I'm on the hunt for the perfect gladiator sandals... i like the taller ones a lot- almost like a gladiator sandal boot. Any suggestions on where to find a good pair?

This is what I wore today. Did I forget to mention on here that I chopped off all my hair and dyed it dark?

I totally did!

And I absolutely LOVE it. More than I can even say.

Anywho- this was the first time I wore shoes with any sort of height to them since having the baby. Something about postpartum bodies and heels don't mix. I got these cute denim wedges from a thrift store. They're by American Eagle and they'd never been worn! Score!

Retro Skirted Swimsuit

It's hard to wrap my mind around swimsuit season, as it is currently freezing outside, but the suits are popping up everywhere already! This is the first one that has really caught my eye. If I could, I would get one in yellow AND black. I love the vintage look, and this suit is not as ridiculously priced as some of the other vintage-inspired pieces I've seen.

Fashionable Nursing Options.

Option One: Find a stretchy leotard and pair it with cute skirts or trousers. This leotard is vintage (as is the skirt), but you can find similar bodysuits at American Apparel. They are so stretchy that you can just pull each side down to nurse.

Option Two: Raid your hubby's closet for a button up plaid shirt. All you need is a cute fitted jacket and some leggings to pull a look together- and the buttons make nursing a breeze!

Option Three: Make those flowy tops look more 'pulled together' by adding a skinny belt. When it comes time to nurse, just unclip the belt and your roomy top becomes the perfect nursing cover!

Postpartum

This is me at 5 weeks postpartum-- feeling excited about fitting into old clothes again. Although... this was not a very practical outfit for breastfeeding. Hahaha. It lasted about 2 hours before I had to change again.

Eight months (32 weeks) pregnant! This is what I wore today to run some errands. It was comfy, but I am feeling extra BIG lately and the smallest tasks are becoming difficult to manage. I'm so ready to meet this little guy!!

Fashion at thirty (and a half!) weeks pregnant!

I wore this outfit to my prenatal appointment today. These jeans are stretchy non-maternity jeans from Target that I can still wear down low with a long enough top. The top (my favorite maternity piece) is actually just a simple flow-y spaghetti strap DRESS that hits just above my knees when I'm not preggo. I belted it under my bust and bloused some over the top of the belt, creating a maternity top that is actually long enough and cute!

Boots are from Charlotte Russe- with a low enough heel so I don't feel like a total fool walking around in mega high heels while so big.

Leather jacket was found in the children's section of a thrift store.

Bag is from Ecko Red (via Ross).

Getting BIGGER.

I'm sorry for the lack of posting as of late, but the store has (obviously) been closed since I started... you know... not fitting into the clothes and whatnot, although I'm sure I could have done well selling 'maternity' items on eBay as well. I just didn't have the desire or energy for it all, however, so a hiatus was in order.

As for pregnancy fashion, I am finding it harder and harder to put outfits together that make me feel 'cute' and 'like myself', so I have had no desire to post shots of them here! I have managed to feel "put together" on a couple of occasions lately, though, and I'll share those outfits with you:

These shots were at 30 weeks pregnant & 29 weeks pregnant respectively. In the top outfit, I am wearing a soft vintage-y tee (from JCPenny's) over a vintage dress. Then I added tights and my clunky boots I found at a thrift store. Last, my cropped jean jacket to top it all off.

In the second photo, I'm wearing a tunic over a dress, with a belt to accentuate the baby bump. I use belts a lot when outfits just feel a little "frumpy".

I will try to post pics more often- I've only got 9 or so weeks to go until this baby is born!

JCPenny's & BeautyHacks- A Perfect Match!

Recently, I was chosen as one of eight Oklahoma City bloggers to receive a shopping spree at JCPenny's as part of a promotion for the new BeautyHacks feature at BlogHer. I got to meet up with the mind-bogglingly fabulous Susan Wagner who is the editor for BeautyHacks, and creator of 'Friday Playdate', a blog I can no longer live without.

JCPenny and BlogHer offered me $300 for a new Fall wardrobe, to try out the new trends of the season. To this I responded, "Um, YES, thankyouverymuch."

I was in desperate need of some versatile Fall pieces that would blend seamlessly with my current 'vintage heavy' wardrobe. And due to my current status of 'undeniably pregnant', I needed pieces that would work for now and beyond.

Susan to the rescue!! Dun dun dun dun!

Prior to this shopping trip, I was still trying to squeeze into my pre-pregnancy clothes. They were starting to look a little...strained, if you will, and I had no sweaters or long sleeve shirts for the coming chill in the air. And, if I'm going to be perfectly honest, I was quickly approaching the "sweat-pants are perfectly acceptable all day everyday" mentality, which, as I'm sure you know, never ends well for anyone.

I believe that pregnancy should be a time of celebrating who you are as a woman. I believe it is a time of beauty and a style of its own accord. And I believe that fashion doesn't need to be put on hold due to an expanding waistline.

Thankfully, JCPenny's feels the same way.

Here I am looking like I need clothes that fit me better.

I have a lot of Summer-y tops, and was in need of some warmer pieces for the Fall.

And here is a top I wore almost every day with my lovely black sweatpants. (YES, THAT IS A HOLE.)

As you can see, I was in need of some stylish pieces that looked classy and could be worn for many occasions. Pieces that didn't look ratty, or too small, but polished and sophisticated.

After meeting up with Susan at my local JCPenny's store, I was able to come home with an amazing (and versatile) Fall wardrobe that will last me this season and beyond. Here are some of those pieces:

This dress fits my belly well, and can be paired with tights and boots and scarves this Fall for a trendy (un-frumpy) look that goes beyond the staple 'jeans and sweaters' style. The scarf, boots, and dress are all from JCPenny's, and I love the 'jewel-tone' colors mixed with a basic gray.

Every woman needs a nice pair of wide leg pants that can be thrown on with just about any top for a pulled-together look without too much effort. These pants are from the Maternity section at JCPenny's, and they are as comfortable as they are stylish. This long sleeve top is a beautiful deep purple (I brought home a LOT of purple), and it is from the maternity section as well.

This maternity top is so flattering and the color gives a normally drab Fall wardrobe a little "pop" and spunk. I LOVE the gathered sleeves, and it looks great layered with the purple top for extra warmth.

This Nicole Miller sweater is one of my favorites because it has such great detailing and looks cute over just about anything. The empire waist is so flattering, and it looks good worn open (over blouses and wide leg pants) or closed over dresses with tights and boots.

This long, black cable knit cardigan was just the sort of basic piece I was looking for to mix and match with my current wardrobe. Not too heavy, not too light... still can be paired with long sleeves or dresses or jeans. Cardigans are going to be big this season, and the solid black is great for me because it goes with everything!

Lastly, I wanted to put together a casual outfit that I could wear on the weekends or while running errands. This is the deep purple long sleeve top, the scarf, and the boots I got from JCPenny's, paired with a cardigan I had and some skinny jeans. It's comfy, cute, and just warm enough for the Fall chill.

I'm SO thrilled with how the pieces I found blend into my existing wardrobe. It goes to show you that a few of the right items can totally revamp your entire closet, without breaking your bank!!

Maternity Fashion for Cheap.

14 weeks pregnant... wearing my new skirt and sweater from Old Navy Maternity. The whole outfit only cost $50 and should last me through the entire pregnancy-- and even a bit beyond! It's been so hot here, the only thing I want to wear are flowy skirts. I CAN'T WAIT FOR FALL!!!!

I found this strapless romper at Old Navy yesterday for $9. It was stuffed in the maternity section, although I don't think it's a maternity item, but it's going to work great for my growing belly! It's got a drop waist- which works perfectly for under the tummy. Plus- It's so comfy! I added a scarf and some strappy sandals to accent it. (It's kindof bland on its own.)

Maternity tip Numero Uno: Try to avoid the maternity section unless you are in need of basics. (Jeans or pants mainly.) There are so many elastic waisted skirts, long tops, and flowy empire dresses out there that you almost never have to buy maternity. Maternity is overpriced and very limiting- so remember to look elsewhere FIRST, and get creative!
