Todays Dua: 11/12/2014

Upon Getting Angry
Once two persons abused each other in the presence of the Prophet (S) and the eyes of one of them became red and the veins in his neck were swollen. Thereupon the Prophet (S) said: "I know of a wording that if he were to utter, his fit of rage would subside. If he says,

أَعُوْذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيْمِ
'Aootho bilahee mina shaytaan irajeem.'
(I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed.)

...his anger would subside."
"Anger comes from the devil, the devil was created of fire, and fire is extinguished only with water; so when one of you becomes angry, he should perform ablution." (AD)

Asalaamualaikum
Ramadan Kareem

I'm just popping in with a quick post that it may be awhile before I can start posting regularly... perhaps one month max. I will make an attempt to be able to post during this month; however, it is now Ramadan and I am doing My First Ramadhan Blog so I am mainly going to try keep up on that one this month and spend more time doing other things like reading the Quran and worshipping Allah, Insha Allah.

Again though, I will try remember to make a scattered post here and there and feel free to keep up with me on my Ramadhan Blog. :)

Ramadhan is coming next week...

2010-08-04T12:49:00.000-07:00

bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Ramadhan is nearing fast, Alhamduilillah, and I'm excited because it's going to be my first one as a Muslim. :) I'm kind of worried though because I found out today that I have an ulcer and was given meds for it. I was also given meds to help me quit smoking because the Dr says I have to quit (and I should anyhow). But the problem is that I can't wear the patch during Ramadhan so I may have to put off quitting for good for another month.

Now, I'm also contemplating starting the patch tomorrow and hopefully being fully quit in a week, Insha Allah! I guess we will see what happens.

The Doctrine of the Sufis PDF

2010-08-03T18:03:00.000-07:00

The Doctrine of the Sufis PDF

The book begins with a discussion of the meaning and proposed derivations of the term Sufi and enumerates names of the great Sufis. It then states the tenets of Islam as accepted by the Sufis and tries to prove that Sufism as a system lies within and not without the bounds of orthodoxy. Further it discusses the various stations of the Sufis such as fear, hope, love, etc. and also discusses the technical terms of the Sufis. The book concludes with descriptions of the various phenomena of Sufism and of the miraculous dispensatiosn accorded to the Sufis by God. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Daily Dua: Du'a after performing wudu

2010-03-13T17:32:00.000-08:00

Du'a after performing wudu:
Ashhadu anla illaha illallaahu wahdahuu laa sharikalahu wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhuu wa rasuluh allahumma j'alnii mina ttawwaabiina waj'alnii min almutatahhiriin waj'alnii min ibaadika salihiin.

I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that He is the absolute one, there is no partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger. Oh Allah!, make me one of those who always purify themselves, and make me among Your virtuous servants.

Todays Dua/Supplication

2010-03-06T23:35:00.000-08:00

Assalamualaikum

Supplications when in bodily pain

A’oodhu Bi ‘Izzatillaahi Wa Qudratihi Min Sharri Maa Ajidu Wa Uhaadhir.

I seek refuge in the honour and power of Allah (SWT) from the mischief of the pain which I feel and fear.

Note: Place the right hand on the affected area, say Bismillah three times and then say this Du’aa seven times.

Often when I am in extreme pain, such as from toothache or a combination of tooth and ear pain, I touch the painful spot and repeat, "I seek refuge in Allah from the pain" and/or, "Allah, please release me from the pain". It's all pretty much the same and the intent is the same. :)

Daily Dua/Supplication

2010-03-05T22:02:00.000-08:00

Assalamualaikum

I thought it would be a good idea to post a daily dua/supplication so here is my choice for today (feel free to pick your own as well).

Asking for success

Rabbanaa a tinaa fid dunyaa hasanah wa fil akhirati hasanatan wa qinaa azaaban naar
Translation: Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the life to come and keep us safe from the torment of the Fire[Al-Baqarah :201]

Well we're on the topic of duas, why don't you check out this nice little board book for kids?

It's been a hectic couple of days...

2010-02-08T22:19:00.000-08:00

About 11 days ago I had a small tooth infection. It's been recurring for at least a year or so. I went to the walk in clinic and the Dr prescribed antibiotics. Just as I finish them it comes back full force and starts shooting into my ear. I went back to the clinic yesterday evening on my way home from seeing my fiance and they said it is an abscess and gave me more antibiotics-- although they said they don't think they will work. When I got home the pain was so bad that I went to the emergency dental clinic. $58.00 later they tell me that it's badly infected in the tooth and along the gum line and prescribed me penicillin-- she couldn't understand why the Dr would give me antibiotics for an infection this bad. So now I have to wait it out while the penicillin kicks in and works and keep praying for relief from the pain.

Got my first Abaya today :)

2010-02-07T19:52:00.000-08:00

Assalamualaikum

Well today was a fairly good day. It didn't start off the greatest; my headlights appeared to have been left on overnight and my battery died so I ended up having to pay out $150.00 for a new battery and to have the mechanic change it. After he did that I went to Montreal to Multivisions Inc. and got a couple of Islamic CD's for my fiance

Unfortunately, the store gave me the wrong Tyson Cd. They gave me

I emailed them though and hope to be able to exchange it in the next day or two. :)

The best part of the day though was buying my first Abaya. They had one on sale for $21.00. I found it was a tad bit short but it still fits okay and I like it. :)

This is the one I'd like to get one of these days

Last time I checked it wasn't in stock but hopefully soon, Insha Allah!

So that's all for now and I'll write more later. :)
