Pregnant lady in labour commits suicide after family refused her C-section

2017-09-07T21:01:00.001+01:00

This is quite sad. A pregnant woman took her own life because her family would not let her to have a Caesarean section even when doctors recommended the procedure.

According to South China Morning Post, the 26-year-old woman surnamed Ma was admitted to the maternity ward of Yulin No 1 Hospital in Shaanxi Province, northern China, last Wednesday. It was found out at the hospital that the baby’s head was big and it was Ma’s first birth so the doctors recommended the Caesarean Section.

Caesarean section, also known as C-section or caesarean delivery, is the use of surgery to deliver one or more babies.

“Initial diagnosis found that Ma was over 41 weeks pregnant with her first child,” said a statement issued by the hospital.

“The large fetal head circumference meant that vaginal delivery would have been very risky.”

Doctors had suggested that delivery by caesarean section would be safer for Ma following the examination, but her family insisted on a natural birth.

Under Chinese law family members have to give permission before medical staff carries out surgery.
Hospital records state that at 5.50pm last Thursday, staff told the family of the requirements for a caesarean delivery, China Business News reported.

Medical staff tried in vain to convince the family of the need for the procedure. The family, whose precise relationship to the woman was not disclosed, understood and refused surgery, preferring to continue monitoring the situation.

“The pregnant woman twice walked out of the ward to tell her family that she wanted a cesarean because she could no longer bear the pain, but the family continued to insist on a natural delivery,” according to the records.

It was not explained why they denied her request. A CCTV footage of the woman coming out of the ward to beg her family to let her undergo the procedure was posted online.

Staff managed to persuade her to return to the ward and again tried to convince the family to let her have a C-section, but they still refused.

Ma fell from a fifth-floor window in the hospital’s maternity ward about 8 pm. She died along with the fetus.

Police told reporters that after investigating the incident, they believed it was a suicide.

Thursday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye (Open Heavens 7 September 2017) – A Motivation Mind-set

2017-09-07T03:50:00.001+01:00

Topic: A MOTIVATION MINDSET [Thursday 7, September 2017]

Memorise: So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off. Proverbs 24:14

Read: Haggai 1:12-15 (KJV)

^1:12Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the Lord.

^1:13Then spake Haggai the Lord's messenger in the Lord's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the Lord.

^1:14And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,

^1:15In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.

Bible in one year: 2^nd Chronicles 14-16, Ezekiel 37:15-28, Hymn: sing hymn 7

MESSAGE:

Some people attend big Christian events for the sake of tradition, while some others attend because certain people are coming there. A crowd will often gather whenever there is an assembly where Jesus is present. If you attend such gatherings because of the crowd – just to belong or to show that you are current – you may not receive your desired blessings. In Mark 5:24-34, a crowd gathered around Jesus Christ on His way to Jairus’ house. For many of them, it was enough that they were in the crowd following Jesus, but right there in their midst, there was a woman who was not there because others were there; she was there because she so needed and desired to touch Jesus. She was determined in her heart that if only she could touch the hem of His clothes, she would receive her healing. She touched it and she was healed. That is what a motivated mindset can do. The Bible says she “came in the press behind”. She did not mind if people trampled on her, and she did not mind the pushing and shoving of the crowd; her singular focus was that she just had to touch the hem of the Master’s garment, no matter what it would take. To understand how motivated she was, you try getting to the front of a crowd from behind.

Moreover, another person who had a motivated mindset was Zerubbabel. Today’s Bible reading shows that when you have a focused mindset like Zerubbabel did, it will stir you up to take action. A motivated mindset fills your heart with conviction that you are overdue for a breakthrough, thereby ushering you into your desired blessing. For instance, when the man who was paralysed from the neck downwards was brought to Jesus, it was not for flimsy reasons (Mark 2:1-12). His friends felt he was overdue for a breakthrough, and so on their arrival, when the door was blocked off and there was no feasible way in through the window, they created a way through the roof. When you believe you are already overdue for a breakthrough, you will be compelled to take violent steps towards attaining your expectation. You will not care about the crowd, traditions or the need to socialize. You will not care about who is first, second or next to be attended to on a queue. All that fills your mind is that you are the next beneficiary of God’s mercy. Where do you stand now? Are you overdue for promotion, success, breakthrough, deliverance or prosperity? If you are, let your conviction on this drive you into your miracle. Such a belief has a way of motivating you to take actions that will trigger your blessing. It shall be well with you this season!

Key Point: While the expectations of the righteous are granted, those without expectations shall have nothing.

18-Year Old Footballer Of Nigerian Origin Dies From Mystery Bug In UK

2017-09-06T12:56:00.001+01:00

A talented young footballer has sadly died after a mystery bug which started off with earache and caused him hallucinations and seizures.

The grieving family of Josh Ayuba, 18, have paid tribute to "an amazing son" who was "intelligent" and "always smiling".

Tragically in his final few days he was so ill he couldn't even recognise them.

His family are waiting to hear from health experts if tests have revealed what killed their son and brother.

Josh, of Portslade, near Brighton, died on Sunday evening, two weeks after complaining about an extremely painful earache which caused him to miss football training.

His worried family and his football team manager, Mark Hilfiker, urged him to see his doctor because he was becoming distressed.

Josh, a "talented right-midfielder" initially went to his GP where he was given medicine.

But after not being able to eat and sleep properly for five days, he returned to the clinic where another doctor immediately sent him to the A and E department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

An unknown bacteria had formed and reached his brain, which started causing him to hallucinate and suffer numerous seizures.

Last Tuesday, he was put in the intensive care unit, and from then onwards he could not even recognise his own family, to their despair.

Josh died at around 7pm on Sunday night, and he leaves behind an abundance of people who loved him, especially his two sisters Ruth and Jubilee.

Elder sister Ruth, 25, sent a plea to youngsters across the city.

"We encourage everyone to make sure they go for vaccination" she urged.

"Live life to the fullest and spend time with your family, because it's the hardest thing knowing you won't get that time back."

Firm believers in Christianity, the Ayuba family said they are praying for Josh's friends at 'an extremely painful time'.

Ruth said: "Josh would want them to have the most fulfilling version of their lives possible.

"Thank you for all the weird banter we shared. We would laugh at random stuff and make fun of mum's Filipino accent.

"And thank you for giving me another opportunity in life. I won't waste the way I live my life."

Younger sister Jubilee, 17, said: "I will always remember randomly laughing at things with him. I miss hearing his laugh."

Josh had a Staffordshire bull terrier , Blue, who he loved dearly, and one of the last things he did was take his pet for a walk at Devil's Dyke.

Ruth revealed their father, Olu Ayuba, said "I will never forget you Josh. Love you always."

And his mum Estrella added: "He was the most amazing son.

"There were many times we would be struggling, for example when there wasn't much dinner left. Josh would always say 'mum, you have it' and it would go on and on. He had a very generous heart."

A boy of many talents, Josh excelled in all aspects of his life.

Estrella, 56, continued: "He was very intelligent. His teachers would always say how clever he is."

Oba Aromolaran Visits Ooni Of Ife And Calls Him An Uncommonly Revered Monarch

2017-09-06T09:58:00.001+01:00

The Owa--Obokun of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran has described the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, as an uncommonly revered monarch who all true sons and daughters of Yoruba extraction should hold in high esteem and support him in taking Yorubaland to a greater height, saying that Ile-Ife remains the ancestral home of the Ijesa people and the entire Yoruba race.

Oba Aromolaran who is the Paramount ruler of Ijesaland stated this on Tuesday evening in Ile-Ife during a historic courtesy visit to the African foremost monarch at his sprawling palace called ILE-OODUA.

The Owa who came with a large retinue of monarchs from Ijesaland, chiefs and prominent Ijesa sons and daughters said

"I am so happy to pay the Oonirisa a visit for the first time since he has mounted this sacred throne of our father Oduduwa"
"I see Your Majesty as God's chosen for this generation because your programme of 'peace and unity" that you preach around the world is what is needed at this time in Yorubaland". Oba Aromolaran said.

He futher explained he had visited the Ooni to personally invite him to his forthcoming 80th birthday ceremony holding later in the month of October 2017 at Ilesa.

"I'm here to personally invite the Arole Oodua to my 80th birthday coming later this month of October."

"This is the first time I would be celebrating my birthday on earth; and I see that I cannot do such without informing the Ooni of Ife and the entire people of Ile-Ife who are my direct siblings because this place is the ancestral home of all the Ijesa people and Yoruba as a whole".

"After deliberations at home with my children, the Obas, chiefs, and prominent Ijesas children at home and in diaspora; it was unanimously decided that Ooni of Ife and Alaafin of Oyo should be the Royal Fathers of the day. That is why I had to come and personally invite Oonirisa to the event as I cannot send the invite to Ooni through a representative, "Oba Aromolaran said.

He concluded with a pledge to join Ooni in his peace movement and always be part of any event being put together to celebrate the sacred throne of Oduduwa.

In his remarks, Ooni Ogunwusi appreciated God for sparing the life of Oba Adekunle Aromolaran to be witnessing 80 years of age and acknowledged God for giving the royal father sound health and long life on the throne. He however assured Oba Aromolaran and his people of his physical presence at the occasion as invited.

"Kabiyesi, you will recall that I have visited you twice at your palace in Ilesa since I was enthroned as the Ooni of Ife less than two years ago"

"Thank you so much for this honour, this place undoubtedly belongs to you and all other descendants of Oduduwa as we Ife people are just the ones keeping home for everyone"

"Though, you are now 80 year old, but you look boyish dancing with all your might. I pray to God to grant you more years on the throne with good health". Ooni said.

While pledging to maintain peace and harmony among the traditional rulers and use all in his capacity to make life bearable for all and sundry, the Ooni of Ife however expressed joy to have been born in the same month of October with the Owa and asked all the people born in October who were in the hall numbering about 30 to come out to receive different envelopes of cash gifts.

The Igbo's will be the ones to loose more if Nigeria spilts- Rev. Fr. Mbaka

2017-09-06T07:07:00.001+01:00

Addressing a gathering of Igbos in East London, the controversial cleric said that Igbos should be the last people seeking to leave Nigeria.

Fiery Enugu-based Catholic priest gave his views today on the current agitation for the secession of southeast Nigeria from the rest of the country as the Republic of Biafra.

He said:
“No Hausa person owns property in Igboland. No Yoruba person owns property in Igboland. But 60% of businesses in northern Nigeria are owned by easterners. 40% of businesses in western Nigeria are owned by Igbos.”

Mbaka implied that Igbos had the most to lose by the breakup of the country. He claimed to know about how much Igbos owned across Nigeria because he was regularly being invited to to say blessings at the opening of new businesses by Igbos, especially in northern Nigeria. He said:

“Go to Sabon Gari in Kano and see what Igbos own there”. He added that they could complain that they were not enough of them in government, but under former president Goodluck Jonathan, an Igbo was finance minister, Central Bank governor, and so on.

He went on to suggest that those Igbos that have been seduced into agitating for Biafra by Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of separatist group Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are “the children of the poor”, who in his view, are not thinking properly about the implications of secession. Mbaka said those people were being deceived by Kanu.

Mbaka then moved on to what could happen in an independent Biafra if it ever came to fruition. He said: “If you think we have trouble in Nigeria now, we will see trouble in Nigeria. No Anambra man would let an Enugu man be president, no Imo man would let an Abakaliki man be president”.

He was very convinced that fault lines between different Igbo communities would come to the fore if Biafra ever became reality. When challenged on talking about politics, Mbaka responded that “politics is part of life” and “I read political science and political philosophy”. He added that decisions made by politics affect everyone.

The goal was scored in the 67th minute by Patson Daka after Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez failed to put the home team ahead from the spot in the 16th minute. Zambia had in the first leg at home beaten Algeria 3-1.

MY Son Is Not Dead - Governor Rochas Okorocha Slams Death Rumours Surrounding His Son

2017-09-06T06:11:00.000+01:00

Governor Rochas Okorcha, has come out to debunk rumours circulating on social media that his son Afamefula, has died in a London hospital.

UImo state government released a statement to that effect which reads thus:

The attention of the government and good people of Imo State has been drawn to the false publication on the Social Media, talking about the death in London of Engineer Ahamefula Okorocha, first son of the State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
The fact and indeed, the real story is that, Contrary to the rumour from the Kingdom of darkness, the Young man is hale and hearty and the wish of the wicked ones would never, never prevail over him.
Those who authored the fake death story only showed the level of their frustration and we won’t ask God to help them out or forgive them. They must reap whatever they have sown. The bible says, “tell the wicked it shall not be well with them”. And we do so to those behind this disturbing rumour.
You can begin to ask why human beings created in the image of God would ever wish a promising Young man like Aham death, no matter what could be their reason.
It should also be recalled that sometime last year, when the governor travelled, these evil-minded elements also rumoured his death and that was also when the issue of Ekeukwu Market came up. And this time too, two weeks after the relocation of Ekeukwu Market, they have come up with the same death story and this time, the governor’s first son.
What these disciples of anti-Christ do not know is that God owns and holds life. And that is why the Igbos would name their Children “Chinwendu” (God owns life) and “Chijindu” (God holds life).
The general public should please disregard the death rumour. It is not true.

55 husbands reported wives for battery in Lagos — Attorney general

2017-09-06T04:45:00.000+01:00

A total of 55 husbands have reported to the Lagos State Government how their wives battered them in the last eight years in renewed cases of domestic violence in the state.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State, Adeniji Kazeem at a media briefing in Ikeja, yesterday, revealed that more men were now coming forward to report cases of violence against them by their women.
Kazeem, who is the chairman, Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, DSVRT, said there had been 55 cases of men reporting domestic violence against them by their wives between January 2017 and now as against 14 that was recorded last year.

According to Vanguard, , Kazeem disclosed that between January and September 2017, a total of 852 cases of domestic violence and related cases were recorded in Lagos State, saying that out of the total number, there were 564 domestic violence cases, 60 defilement cases, 30 rape cases, 11 attempted rape, 123 child neglect and abuse cases, and 84 other cases.

He said the data revealed that most of sexual assault cases were perpetrated in the afternoon during weekdays, while corroborating that 95 percent of the perpetrators of sexual violence were known to the victims, which according to him, necessitated the need to embark on sensitization campaigns for parents on parenting skills and child abuse prevention tips as well as training for children on child’s rights, child abuse, safety and how to preserve evidence.

While some of the cases have been charged to court, Kazeem said the State Government through the Ministry of Youth and Social Development and other stakeholders, provided shelter for the survivors.

Wednesday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye (Open Heavens 6 September 2017) – Stop dishon0ring God!

2017-09-06T04:31:00.000+01:00

Topic: STOP DISHONOURING GOD [Wednesday 6, September 2017]
Memorise: Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious. Psalm 66:2
Read: 1st Samuel 2:27-30 (KJV)
2:27 And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house?
2:28 And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?
2:29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?
2:30 Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
Bible in one year: 2nd Chronicles 11:13, Ezekiel 36:33-37:14, Hymn: Sing hymn 9
MESSAGE:

“Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.”
Malachi 3:8

In the above passage of Scripture, God complained about His children, who had suddenly turned into robbers. How can a worker in the Church of God or a minister of God be a thief? How can you claim to be a born-again Christian and keep on stealing? Those who rob God are no ordinary thieves. Boy, such people are really brave! Their victim is not a fellow human being but God Himself. You can be certain that such people are the worst kind of thieves in the universe! Can you imagine that idolaters fear their idols so much that they do everything possible not to break their rules? If anything is dedicated to an idol, who would dare steal it? Yet, these people throw all caution to the wind and steal what is dedicated to the Most High, and they expect Him to do nothing about it, because He is a God of mercy. This is bravery gone awry! Are you one of such “holy thieves”? Are you defaulting in your tithes and offerings?

In the same vain, there are some foolish and ignorant people, particularly in the universities, who insult God and Jesus Christ occasionally. I know this because I used to be one of them before I got saved. The opposite of honour is disrespect. If you are not honouring God, it means you are insulting Him. Everyone who robs God of first fruits dishonours God, and if you dishonour God, you can compel Him to change His promises and plan for your life (Proverb 3:9). This was what happened to the house of Eli. Hear what the Lord told Eli in 1st Samuel 2:30:

“… I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”

May the Lord not change His great plan for your life. Do you honour Him? if you refuse to honour God, He will refuse to honour you. If you ignore Him, you will be of no consequences to Him. At the end of the day, you will undo yourself by your refusal to comply with divine instructions. Refusal to honour God can turn the desirable into something detestable. It can push the good things of life that were at a person’s fingertips miles away from him or her. Dishonouring God can separate you temporarily or even permanently from your blessings. Have you been paying your first fruits yearly? How often do you honour God?

Key Point: The instruction to honour the Lord is not a suggestion but a command.

Police debunk suicide rumour of officer over Borno posting

2017-09-06T04:18:00.000+01:00

The Ebonyi Police Command has debunked the rumour making the rounds in Abakaliki that one of its officers committed suicide on Monday, over his posting to Maiduguri.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sgt. Donatus Oyibe was found dead inside a well at his premises in Abakaliki, while people insinuated that he committed suicide on learning of his posting to Maiduguri.

ASP. Loveth Odah, the Ebonyi Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO) told NAN on Tuesday that Oyibe did not commit suicide as being insinuated.

“It is true that Oyibe was among those posted to Maiduguri in the latest officers’ posting, but that could not had made him commit suicide being an experienced police officer.
“He told one of his daughters that he was going to fetch water from the well, but unfortunately was found inside the well afterwards.
“It is possible that he accidentally fell inside the well while fetching water or that someone mischievously pushed him inside the well,” she said.

Odah said that investigations into the matter have commenced and the command would unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“This is not the first time that someone has fallen inside the well and this makes me wonder why people should create meanings into this one that involved a police officer.
“The death of a police officer especially in this circumstance should not be celebrated, and this is the reason we are clearly stating the fact,” he said.

A friend to the deceased, who spoke to NAN under the condition of anonymity, revealed that Oyibe had complained bitterly to friends on the posting to Maiduguri.

“He expressed fear over working in Maiduguri and was concerned over the fate of his children as his wife died some years ago.
“He was a peaceful and humble man who would be missed by his orphaned children, friends and relatives,” he said. (NAN)

Jasbir Kalsi, 67, and his wife Bhupinder, 62, are said to have travelled from the Punjab region to Hillsborough County to help "counsel and discipline" son Devbir's wife.

Silky Gaind was discovered battered and bruised by a police officer on Saturday after getting a message to her parents.

Her in-laws and husband are now facing multiple charges, including battery. Her father-in-law, who had been visiting with his wife for about a month, also allegedly held a knife to her throat.

Ms Gaind, 33, had been held for some time before deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff Office arrived at her door.

Even then, the family attempted to bar them from entering the house, forcing the officers to call for back up as Ms Gaind called on them to help her and her one-year-old daughter.

At a court hearing on Sunday, Ms Gaind told a judge her 33-year-old husband had left her in fear for her life.

"I am so scared, because last night he was telling me he was going to kill me if I call the police. He would kill me to death, you know? He told me it would take 10 minutes for police to come and before that he would kill me and then kill himself," she said.

WFLA reported Jasbir Kalsi was facing charges of aggravated battery with a knife, while her husband Devbir had been charged with felony battery.

Both are charged with false imprisonment, child abuse and denying access to 911.

Bhupinder Kalsi was charged with battery domestic violence and failure to report child abuse.
