As usual BJP has joined the Congress party who has been living in denial and became evident from from BJP/s claims that Congress got blown away in Modi storm . I have all my sympathies with Sheila Dikshit (the ex CM of Delhi) who despite the good work she has done in the capital had to bear the brunt and became the victim of the anger the people had for UPA II . Its high time for BJP and particularly Congress to realise that you have to be among people to understand their needs but both the parties seem to be completely disconnected from ground realities . Cong , I believe kept away from the public out of nervousness after unfolding of several scams . Knowing the fact that human beings have short memory, had they rather connected more often with them , in particular a commoner and the youth of this country to understand their anguish and promised not only to perform better but also taken measures to correct their mistakes there was a chance of better results in the Assembly elections. Surprisingly they continued mudslinging on the opposition and introducing populous schemes as a measure to damage control. What surprised me even more was Rahul Gandhi who once upon a time was a YOUTH ICON went into isolation who could actually have remained connected with the people and should have been there among them and not distanced himself completely. I also felt of late he has got into traditional way of politics , lambasting the opposition rather than talking about their own contribution and their Govt. manifesto. Or was he lost in the scuffle of finding his very own identity and emerge out of his Pappu image . He was seen trying hard to project himself like a tough Modi who being a good orator has an edge over Rahul . He must not ignore the fact that it is not necessary that a good orator can be a good states man and a good statesman does not need to be a good orator on the contrary have good spokes persons who are intelligent with excellent communication skills .In fact Rahul needs to go for personality development a finishing school, he needs to build back the confidence that he had shown in his early political career to come out of complexes he seems to be suffering from ever since the media started comparison between Modi and him and with the kind of strong political background he has he should not allow opposition and the media affect him and be himself.
Yes Cong certainly needs to learn a lesson from AAP that how imp ti is to remain connected with public . Also they need hire a PR agency to create a better image for the party and make their brand acceptable that seems to have lost its shone . Above all deal strictly with tainted leaders and of course a someone with strong leadership qualities to lead the party which of course Rahul lacks

Also AAP need to learn a lesson from the two giants not to forget that people of this country had given the mandate in their favour which is not performance based but have given them an opportunity to prove themselves rather than behave like a bunch of arrogant leaders who have never tasted power before , in particular Kumar Vishwas who has already begun to behave like a king ,who can not talk without pointing finger at the others which is quite annoying . He also needs to mind his language as well as have the patience to hear others out at least when he is on National television . Not to forget its the people's power who brought Cong in to power and it is the same power that brought them down and the same applies to him and every one else.

rebuttal by an officer (army chief age issue)

Lot of nonsense is being spewed on the net about the controversy involving the Army Chief. Unfortunately, the gentlemanly, week, effete and our non functional figurehead prime minister is being dragged into all this. The entire Sikh community is being maligned. Some officers and others from the chief’s camp have made this a communal issue. This is a first for a proud and secular Indian Army. The fact of the matter is that neither JJ , VK or even Bikram are officers of any great stature or brilliant and no where near outstanding. Indian Army looks back with nostalgia and yearns for officers of the caliber of Thimmaya, Manekshaw, SSP Thorat, Chotu Sen, Inder Gill, Satinder Singh,Eric Vas, Prem Bhagat, Harbaksh ( this is by no means an exhaustive list, or anywhere near it, its only representative), to make a comparison. Present day generals are just careerists. Only expectation I would make is AK Singh( present Southern army commander).

Recently, “Outlook” magazine( C S Dogra’s article), and a mossufil vernacular paper called “Chauthi Duniya”, have been writing uninformed articles about the army , the Sikh community and the present controversy. One Maj Gen Sinha has been fwd the same to army officers. And there has been an angry, hard hitting, apt,and logically reasoned rebuttal by an officer K J Singh who is a friend of mine . I am reproducing the rebuttal and the mail fwd. by Mag Gen Sinha which i strongly feel should be made public. Though its a long post but worth a read :)
Not necessarily in Hillary's. Two women. One known for her mercurial temper and the other a survivor, a fighter. One known for how she alienated people and the other for how heroic personality. It's not going to end all well. The impending doom er.. interaction between the second most powerful woman in America and the Chief Minister of PoschimBongo is going to reverbarate for a while. Hillary will be here to discuss a host of things amongst FDI in retail and the Teesta water sharing deal, both of which is not exactly the best ways to break ice with Didi. In a world where American leaders have a long history of patronizing the powers behind the throne, this could be a huge leap for mankind. I doubt if Didi will ever be fully prepared for what will happen over the course of today. And for that one reason, Hillary should be prepared for Didi's tantrums. Diplomacy is a tightrope walk but if Hillary manages to get what her countrymen wants and still keep Didi smiling, then this could be the beginning of something beautiful. Either ways, the outcome of today's meeting is going to be interesting. We'll see if Hillary truly has what it takes to be a world leader. Cool, calm and in charge.

Finally baba is in lime light again , an inspiring politician really knows how to gain media attention , he has been in news for some time for his revolution against corruption. Yoga guru Ramdev, formed a political party-Bharat Swabhiman, to purify the corrupt politicians and rich . He challenged all corrupt politicians ,contesting all seats in Parliament of India, in the next election. What is purpose of his political party ,and how it intends to use the power of yoga to clean up the corrupt politicians and rich in India through the policy of yoga , i really need to understand.
Yesterday he, formally launched the range of his products in the national capital region (NCR) . His aim is to make an impact in the country's booming retail sector baba ramdev ,announced that his portfolio of 800 products of Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd will be available in the open market. According to baba "Patanjali Ayurveda has been selling its entire range of 800 products through its exclusive outlets, and the move will turn the group not only into a major retail player but will also pit it against corporate firms."

According to Ramdev Patanjali's products will be 30 per cent cheaper than the items being sold by the big multi-national companies (MNCs). "Our products are cheaper because we source the products directly from farmers. Also, our overhead costs are low," "Even US President Barack Obama has been propagating Swadeshi by appealing to the American companies not to outsource jobs. I don't see any reason why the Indian government should open up its retail sector to MNCs." Baba said that earnings from the entire project would not be used by the organisation's stakeholders. "On the contrary, profits from the project will be used to empower rural economy and health. Patanjali is in the process of building model villages throughout India,"

Well makes sense , and i hope he succeeds and we do see some positive results in near future ,but what doesn't make sense -why does baba have to resort to various means to achieve his goal to enter politics . he could have simply started a revolution without targetting the central govt , and playing" nautanki" in salwar kammez . As a yog guru with a following of 10 lakh people he could have tried to cleanse the system voluntarily . And one questions that i would love to ask him "baba you are worth few hundred crores ,and being a baba you have limited needs, why not become a role model and put that money to reforms " i totally agree , i have no business to suggest some one what to do with his wealth ,but at the same time i cant stand his gimmicks for gaining popularity to enter mainstream politics.

Shiv Sena and Dirty Politics

'I am a great admirer of Hitler, and I am not ashamed to say so! From Marathi Manush to shaking hands with North Indians , Shiv Sena has set an examle how politicians can actually play with emotions of the people to enrich their vote bank. Shiv Sena ( Army of Shiv), referring to Shivaji , a right wing organization in India founded on 19 June 1966 by Balasaheb Thackrey currently headed by Thackeray's son Uddhav Thackrey . If we go back to the history, the party originally emerged out of a movement in Mumbai, broadly favouring increased influence of Maharashtrians in Maharashtra It built a strong base amongst the Marathi community in the sixties based on its ideology that Maharashtra belonged to the Marathi community and that they be given preference over migrants from other Indian states
.
Shiv Sena known for vendalism Politically, the Sena was anti-communist, and wrested control of major trade unions in Mumbai from the Communist Party of India and demanded protection money (extortion) from mainly Gujarati and marwari business leaders. It later allied itself with the BJP over the common issue oF Hindu Nationalism which both parties believed in. During the tenure of the government from 1995 to 1999, Thackeray was nicknamed "remote control " since he played a major role in government policies and decisions from behind the scenes.

Thackeray a pro-Tamil Tiger. He says, "I am proud of the Tigers for the gallant manner in which they are fighting."
He also wanted a ban on the LTTE lifted by the center-wing government.A man who is anti North Indians , Muslim community which is quite evident from various statements and actions in the past ,

On March 6, 2008, Bal Thackeray issued an editorial titled Ek Bihari, Sau Bimari (One Bihari, Hundred maladies) in Saamna, Shiv Sena's political mouthpiece, saying Biharis were 'an unwanted lot' in the Maharashtra. In what was termed as an apparent bid to recapture his party's Marathi sons of soil plank, which was being hijacked by the MNS leader Raj Thackeray, Bal Thackeray wrote about Biharis,

'They [Biharis] are not wanted in southern India, Assam and also Punjab and Chandigarh. The Biharis have antagonised local population wherever they had settled. The UP-Bihari MPs have shown their ingratitude towards Mumbai and Maharashtra with an anti-Marathi tirade in Parliament.'
He also denounced Bihari MPs, saying they were 'spitting in the same plate from which they ate' by criticising Mumbaikars and Maharashtrians. He also wrote, 'They are trying to add fuel to the fire that has been extinguished, by saying that Mumbaikars have rotten brains'. Additionally, he criticized a major holiday celebrated by people from Bihar, and eastern UP which happens six days after the Hindu New Year (Diwali) known as Chath Pooja. He said that it wasn't a real holiday. The outburst was apparently in response to MPs from Bihar who had disrupted the proceedings of the Lok Sabhae in protest against the attacks on North Indians.

Thackeray known as very vocal in his controversial opposition to people who migrate to Mumbai, to non-Hindus (especially Muslims), and to illegal Muslim immigrants from Bangladesh. In the late 1960s to mid-1970s, as part of his 'Maharashtra is for Maharashtrians' campaign, Thackeray threatened migrants from South India with harm unless they left Mumbai.
In the 1960s he called South Indians Lungiwaale and Yanda Gandu and had slogans like Lungi Hatao Pungi bajao

'"They (Muslims) are spreading like a cancer and should be operated on like a cancer. The... country should be saved from the Muslims and the police should support them (Hindu Maha Sangh in their struggle just like the police in Punjab were sympathetic to the Khalistanis )
Balasaheb Thackeray criticized and challenged Indian Muslims through his party newspaper, Sāmna, around the time the 16th century Babri Masjid was demolished by members of the Shiv Sena and the Bharat BJP in the northern town of on December 6, 1992. Hindus believe that the Babri Mosque was built on the demolished ruins of a Hindu temple in the 16th century, and consider it to be the Ram Janmabhoomi (birthplace of the Hindu God Rama ). The communal riots that followed the demolition of the mosque led to nearly a 1000 deaths and many enquiry committees constituted by the government have accused Shiv Sena and Thackeray of being involved in and coordinating the riots. Thackeray however has shown no regret till date and feels that he is proud of what he and his partymen did back in those days because he feels that if it was not for the Shiv Sena then no one would have been able to control the Muslims after the demolition of the mosque.

When i look at the past , i wonder how dirty one can get in politics and for power.
The huge furore of some people and a Fatwa against yoga came as a shock to me and i am sure many more must have felt the same. The way some people have given Yoga a religious and political colour and branding it unislamic is totally unwarranted , nothing but intolerance .I watched the debate on National Television and to my surprise, according to one gentleman " Surya Nanmaskara" was worship of Sun,which is not allowed in their religion, where as its a mere exercise to strengthen the core .Wanted to tell him, Yoga is Indian and has got nothing to do with any religion .

Surya Namaskara, known in English as Sun Salutation , is a common sequence of Hatha yoga asanas. . This sequence of movements and poses can be practised on varying levels of awareness, ranging from that of physical exercise in various styles..
The physical base of the Practice links together twelve asanas in a dynamically performed series. These asanas are ordered so that they alternately stretch the spine backwards and forwards. When performed in the usual way, each asana is moved into with alternate inhalation and exhalation (except for the sixth asana where the breath is held in external suspension). A full round of Surya namaskara is considered to be two sets of the twelve poses with a change in the second set to moving the opposite leg first through the series.
Some proponents of the use of Surya namaskara as part of the modern yoga tradition prefer to perform it at sunrise, which is considered to be the most favorable time of the day does not mean offering prayers to the Sun .
Mayawati to be unveiled after elections has raised a lot of questions on election symbol of other political parties.Years back in 80s cong was forced to change cong symbol from a cow and a cub to a hand,at that time opposition had raised an objected to the cong party election symol . They considered it to be good enough to influence the emotions of a voter. Now the opposition has objected to the elephants and king size statues of mayawati.Though the BSP has tried to prove their point and cited several examples and lambasted the opposition parties asking for justification of their own election symbols.

If we go point by point by her justification aired yesterday on national television , that BJP also has a lotus as their election symbol would it also be asked it to remove it from the ponds , markets and temples, it was also suggested that bicycles which is an election symbol of samajwadi party, either be removed or veiled in that case . Attacking the Congress party and their election symbol which is a hand that each one of us have, that too not one but two of them so what does the election commisssion suggest in that case ? where as her own statues are concerned BSP tried to defend by saying that several roads ,hospitals, roads also delhi airport have been named after the Gandhi family.

But little does she realise, that if we start veiling the lotus and removing the bicycles from the markets and roads ,we would also need to veil elephants in the wild ,zoos and where as the hand is concerned we all will need to either chop off our hands or perhaps wear gloves but we shall still not be able to ignore the significance of our hands and keep staring at the hands under cover and curse her for having made us veil them and that would hit the emotions of a person even stronger.

I also wonder what does she have to say about the BSP engraved under the statues , and her comparison with Gandhis and other leaders is not quite convincing.if hospitals, roads or parks have been named after some leaders it has been either after they have been slain or their death and that too were not made by their ownselves in fact have been erected or named after , in their memory. it needs to be conveyed to her that we certainly dont mind a couple of her statues or a hospital or a road be named after her once she takes an exit from this world.right now her statues are coming heavely on us and some one needs to advise her to get rid of her bag that she holds in each of her statue or a poster ,it gives an impression that she probably seems to be clutching on to her bag which has all the keys to her closet full of skeletons .

Monumental Obsession of Mayawati.....

Mayawati sworn in as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh State of Indis for the fourth time on 13 May 2007 announced an agenda that focused on providing social justice to the weaker sections of society and providing employment instead of distributing money to the unemployed. Her slogan was to make "Uttar Pradesh" ("Northern Province") into "Uttam Pradesh" ("Excellent Province")

Her 2007 election campaign was accompanied by a colourful slogan: Haathi nahin, Ganesh hain, Brahma, Vishnu Mahesh Hain: "The elephant (BSP Logo) is really the Lord Ganesha, the trinity of gods rolled into one". Her new slogan invited everyone, including the higher castes, to "come ride the elephant", her party's election symbol.Mayawati's rise from humble beginnings has been called a "miracle of democracy" by P. V. Narasimha Rao, former Prime Minister of India .

A Dalit woman , known for her birthdays which are major media events, where she appears laden with diamonds, her birthdays declared as Jan Kalyankari Diwas (People's Welfare Day). In 2009 the day was marked by the announcement of welfare schemes targeted towards poor and downtrodden people of the state. Her disproportionate assets to her known source of income run into millions of dollars, with several properties to her name. In the 2007–08 assessment year, Mayawati;s ranking was among the top 20 taxpayers in the country

Mayawati often referred to as Behen-ji, which means 'sister',to me she appears to be a self obsessed woman or either she is suffering from some kind of OCD.In one of her interviews she is believed to have said " that she has no time for family life or romantic relationships because she wants to focus on her political career and this is why she remains unmarried ' and i do belive her but her marriage and romance to her obsession of erecting statues which she probably forgot to mention is known to every one .In. In her tenures as a Chief Minister, Mayawati erected number of statues and her claims that the expenditure on statues and symbols of Dalit Icons was required because the past governments did not show respect towards Dalit icons, in whose memory nothing was ever built sound bizarre to me. She exp of over Rs 2,500 crore on projects of five parks and memorials in Lucknow between 2007 and 2009. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India reported that Rs. 15 Crore was spent on memorials. In October 2011 Mayawati inaugurated the Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal and Green Garden, built at a cost of 685 crores. The memorial also features her own statues, a sheer waste the tax-payers' money but he BSP dismissal of allegations is quite understandable, but the explaination that her statues were erected because Kanshi Ram's will requested that his statues should be constructed next to those of the current President of BSP. " is quite emotional.

Her obsession does confirm middle-class Indians’ worst fears about her as megalomaniac and venal. But among many dalit voters, unapologetic ostentation is part of her appeal, and the statue scandal may actually play to her advantage. “The more she’s demonised by the chattering classes,” says her biographer, Ajay Bose, “the more popular among dalit voters she becomes…although it would be good if she did something more useful for her constituency too.” Statues of o a stout woman clutching a handbag, sometimes surrounded by elephants, dot Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh (UP).. Does she ever realise that the amt spent on these statues and memorials which is more than $500m , during her four stints as chief minister, could have been put to better use for up bringing Dalits or is her self obsession instincts too dominent on her wisdom or she thinks her eventual goal to gain power in the centre will come through her statue riding an elephant.

Col Muammer Gaddafi and Women

Emotions have played a strong role in lives of people who are known for their ruthless regime and one of them is Maummar Gadaffi ,whose reputation was maligned towards the end of his regime ,but we can not ignore the fact that Libyan Colonel Muammer Gaddafi took good care of women , not only he supported them but also believed in their abilities and emancipation and that too in a society where women are not fully appreciated.Several steps were taken to improve the situation of women during his regime ,which was a result of his promise to his mother ,who couldnot read or write and was born when Libiya was an Italian colony .The Jamahiriya govt made an effort to advance female emancipation.Women were encouraged to participate in Libyas political life and several posts were allocated to them.Working women enjoyed a range of benefits designed to continue workin even after marriage and child birth During the last decade of King Idris’ rule, females enrolled in primary education were only between 11-19%. However, in 1969, education was made a right. And by 1990, the figure stood at 48%. Women’s enrollment in higher education stood at 8% in 1966, but reached 43% by 1996, equal to that of males.Apart from education and employment , several other reforms were made to improve their lives.Under Jamahiriya government child marriages were banned and the minimum legal age to marry placed at 18. Since 1973, Libyan women have had equal rights in obtaining a divorce. There were also gender-friendly women’s laws passed on marriage and divorce.Gaddafi forbade restricting women’s mobility.Unlike several other Arab countries,a woman was allowed to drive and hold her passport which enabled her to travel outside of the country without her husbands permission .Nor could women be forced in a marriage and enjoyed the freedom totleave the marriage at her will.Imams were expected to protect women from abuse.A women brigade we witnessed, who were willing to die for him was a result of his delibrate effort towards upliftment of women and certainly not his power.
With the dissolution of Jana Sangh, Advani and his colleague Atal Bihari Vajpayee joined the Janata Party to fight the Lok Sabha Elections of 1977
These days in news for his Rath Yatra ,in real terms an Air Conditioned Bus Yatra , to lure the vote bank is doing rounds .At times i wonder how many of us are still gullible to get carried away by these emotional politcs ?The desire to become the PM of India ,still simmering in his heart, it seems.Though we the people, of this coutry are looking for a change from these haggered politics, but little do they understand that people are no more unaware and can see through their manipulative ways of politics. The memories of Advani's rath yatra to Babri Masjid is still fresh in my mind,i doubt i will ever be able to forget the blood shed by some Hindus driven by Hindu fanatic leaders like him and organisations like RSS. For me the waving a flag on Babri Masjid was never a moment of triumph but a moment of shame, a momet of disgust and helplessness, that being a normal citizen i could not have taken law and order in my hand and dealt with these people who man slaughtered several innocent people to achieve power and rule the country. This old man Mr Advani ,who is on his last leg does not seem to have a trace of shame or repentance of his deeds.

INDIAS FATE IN THE HANDS OF BHUSHANS AND ANNAS

"INDIA CERTAINLY NEEDS A LAW TO STOP PEOPLE FROM MAKING SPEECHES THAT HURT THE INTEGRITY SOVEIRGNITY AND ONENESS OF THE COUNTRY !!"

I am really surprised by the reaction of the media over Prashant Bhushan's bash up by some Sri ram Sene and Bhagat Singh Kranti Workers, not one news channel made an effort, to highlight the core issue that resulted in a bash up, but their concern seemed to be a Head Line for a better TRP, except for one NDTV show" Vinod Dua Live" . None of them questioned the statement made by Prashant Bhushan on a sensitive issue like Kahsmir, yet they did question the growing aggression among new generation....does one realise how frustrated one feels , when ppl like PB(Prashant Bhushan) make such Bizzare statements, PB a man,who just a few days back chanted slogans like "Inquilab Zindabaad" from a dias shared with Anna Hazare,a person who talks about integrating India as a country.Being Indians we have freedom of speech, but does not give us a right to make statements, which affect the integrity of the country or hurts sentiments of the people. But yesterday expression of PB's views, revealed altogether a different face, a face which is more political than activist. I personally feel his speech was targetted more towards gaining some kind of political mileage or publicity for so called activist, but more of aspiring politician . And i also question his counter part's silence over his remark, yes i am referring to Anna Hazare,if he has the power to condemn corruption, he should also have the power to condemn such remarks coming from his team members. Agreed PB has not seen the freedom struggle, so he does not realise the lives sacrificed to attain freedom in the country but Anna has closely seen the freedom struggle and claims to be following the ideologies of Gandhi ji ( Here i would like to bring to attention that Gandhi ji was never in favour of division of the country but it was Jinnah)..Lately it seems Anna's sole agenda is Congress bashing.and BJP which created much hue and cry over the remarks of Yassen Malik , Arundhati Roy and Omar Abdullah to the extent ,that they demanding Omar's resignation (does he not have freedom of speech,LOL) has not reacted at all, is this not politics of convinience? To my surprise a learned person like PB( who made a mention of Nehru Ji's suggested refrendum in one of his interviews yesterday), is not aware of the conditions of plebicite in Kashmir as suggested by Nehru Ji and agreed by UN, which was that, a plebicite can be held in kashmir if there is no demographic change in the state while there has been a major demographic change in Kashmir since the year 1947 itself .Who says that, the people of Kashmir do not want to be a part of india, except for separtists, i myself belong to the state of Jammu and Kashmir and can not imagine my country without J&K .If people like PB or Annas were to rule our country ,we are sure to see refrendum in various other states ,and gradually we will see our country whose freedom the great leaders fought for, some of them sacrificed their lives, being divided into many mini countries courtesy support from people like Bhushan,Arundhati Roy,Yassen Malik and the likes
