Transformation Portrait: Clare’s Collection

Clare was the lucky winner of one of our “Transform Me” competitions late last year, winning herself a gorgeous Art Print from her Transformation Portrait.

In April last year, I originally worked with Clare and her husband Adam.  It was a very sad first encounter with this couple, as I was photographing their baby girl Lily Rose through the Heartfelt service, who had passed away prematurely.  It was truly heartbreaking.  Even though I never met Clare and Adam in person at that time, we were brought together by Lily Rose and formed a bond that not many would completely appreciate.  When Clare then sent in her entry for the “Transform Me” competition later last year, I just knew that this would be a turning point for her.

Clare is one of those women who has absolutely gorgeous beauty and a heart full of kindness and compassion, but finds it very hard to believe what others see in her.  She was absolutely convinced that she would only like a couple of photos, because she thought she “didn’t photograph well”….. I pretty much hear that from every single woman I meet and photograph  The beauty of Emotive Images’ Transformation Portraits, isn’t only the final photographs. Even though they are a gorgeous way of visually reminding my clients of their experience and how others see them.  The absolute power of these Transformation Portraits is backed up in the experience that they have through the whole process.  Transforming from a lack of confidence in themselves, to being confronted with having to pose in front of a camera, to being completely in awe and surprised by how the entire collection of their photos turned out at their ordering session.  It’s like I can almost see in their eyes during the ordering session, a literal transformation in their thinking of who they are and how they present to the world.  The absolute joy that comes over their face is something I never get used to, and nor would I ever want to….it is contagious and such a wonderful experience each and every time.  To witness a woman realise and appreciate what has been there all along, is truly gratifying.

Clare was no different.  Convinced that she would not like herself in many of the photos, these below were the final collection of photos that she chose for her very own beautiful Boxed Collection and Wall Art.  I think she might just have realised at that moment just “how” beautiful she was, inside and out.

Brisbane Photographer: Beloved Couples Portrait

Valentine’s Day reminds me of all the gorgeous Beloved Couples Portrait sessions we have photographed over the years.  May today bring you so much joy and happiness with your loved ones!!

I am so excited about what 2013 holds for Emotive Images and for me personally.  Lots of love to give this year and equally much love to “receive” this year.  It is so important to receive love and be open to receiving warmth and joy from others.  So many of us shy away from ‘receiving’, so quick to discount our own needs for the sake of others…..lovers….children….friends….even the needs of the ego we show to the world rather than who we truly are inside.  I know this better than anyone else… I have worked for more than half of my working life as a Psychologist….15+ years of supporting others, guiding them, bridging the gap between who they are and who they want to be.  As a Psychologist the focus was always on others, being in tune with them, prioritising them for that moment in time.  While that time of my life was extraordinarily rewarding, it was also draining and caused me to withdraw from who I am both in spirit and energy.  As a Psychologist I was quite introverted, subdued, controlled…so I could create a space where I could “hold” clients’ emotions and allow them to feel safe and respected.  The “real Louise” was quite extraverted, passionate, and loud (….have you heard my boisterous laugh?  *oops* ).  Photography as a business has allowed me to become all of those things, while also creating a space for clients where they bridge the gap between who they are and who they desire to be!

It is the ultimate buzz that I am able to bring together my passion for empowering people, while also being true to who I am.  My clients now get the best of me…..all of me….  As part of my business transformation for 2013, I am learning new ways to connect with my clients, to help them grow and experience something unique and empowering to them, through the format of photography.

I am so excited about this transformation, that I am wanting to work with TWO couples………TWO couples who want to take some time out of their busy schedules to reconnect, to bridge that gap between who they are as individuals and reignite a connection with who they can be as a couple.  No better time to announce this than on Valentine’s Day!

There are four conditions:

1. You must live in Brisbane…

2. You must be available for a photo shoot in the next few weeks after you have won…

3. You both must be willing to be a part of a photo shoot…

4. Entries are open to any kind of couple…whether you have been together for only a few months, or those who have been together for many years…..married, not married…..younger, older….. As long as you are interested in being involved in a photo shoot that is heartfelt and rewarding, then I want to hear from you!

The Portrait Package is valued at $400.  If you win, your investment will only be $100!!  The package includes:

* an initial meeting/planning session

* a 1 hour Portrait Shoot in Brisbane (valued at $100)

* an 8″x12″ Art Print from your session framed with a classic black frame (valued at $300)

* your very own inperson ordering session afterwards with a full gallery of images to choose from.

HOW TO ENTER:  be LOVED Couples Portrait

1. Take a photo of the both of you, with a love heart or several love hearts also in the photo…  Be creative!  Be emotive!  Be memorable!!!

2. Write a LOVE LETTER to Louise at Emotive Images, either on paper or digitally...  Embellish it any way you would like, with colour, bling, scrapbooking, perfume ….whatever will grab my attention!!  The words are the most important part though!  I want you to tell me HOW you fell in love, WHY you want this photo shoot, and WHAT you imagine your photo shoot to involve.  Remember, this is all about who the two of you are as a couple!  Be memorable!!

3. Send your entry to Louise at louise@emotiveimages.com.au or PO Box 881, Sumner Park QLD 4074.  Identify your entry with the words “be LOVED” in either your subject line of your email or on the front of your package that you send to me.

4. Your entry MUST reach me by close of business Wednesday 20th February 2013 (next week)!!

5. I will choose the final 2 lucky couples who will receive this awesome offer!  My decision will be based on how memorable your entry is and how much it inspires me.  :)

General Transformation Portrait competition “Transform Me”

A few months ago now we ran a competition here at Emotive Images where women could sign up to win a Transformation Portrait with Emotive Images.  Each woman submitted their entries, took a photo of themselves and crossed their fingers that they would be selected.

Well, four lucky ladies were chosen for the other part of the competition, where they have each had their Transformation Portrait session, complete with beautiful hair and makeup and lots of pampering!

They are now competing for the final prize which is valued at $695!!!  It is one of our gorgeous 16″x24″ Wall Art Prints, matted ready for them to frame and hang on their wall!  The image will be printed by Frontier Digital, who are one of my amazing suppliers who I dearly treasure, and they are located right here in Brisbane!  All Australian made quality products!

The voting is now open and each of these lovely ladies will be asking for your precious points!  You can build up points for all of them or just one, whoever you feel is the most worthy of the prize.  Whoever you feel has embraced the true reflection of Transformation both inside and out!  You will have until next Wednesday 19th December 2012 at 12noon, so build up points as many times and different ways that you can!

Transformation Portrait: Sara

Here is a sneak peak of Sara’s Transformation Portrait photos, that she did a few months ago now.  She wanted to celebrate the journey she had been on in the past few years!  We started with some gorgeous lingerie photos, and then used a number of Kitten D’Amour outfits with backdrops around the house.  I am so excited for Sara, as she has some gorgeous images to remember this celebration in her life!  She gets to now see visually how far she has come, and use these images as inspiration for going forward

Happy Birthday to me

I LOVE birthdays! I actually love them more as I get older. When I was 21 I was sooooo not sure of myself…..but as I get closer to the big 4 0 (eeeeek) I actually feel more at peace, more settled, more in tune with myself….Yes I have my freakout days like any woman is allowed to lol but in general I feel more at peace than I ever have! I have been spoilt today….my hubby got me some more of my favourite perfume (“Naughty Alice”….so me huh??? )….my furbaby got me a new pandora charm hehe…..my parents got me a gorgeous bracelet, and some other momentos….and my brother shouted me dinner out on the weekend Life is good! I’m a typical Scorpio…passionate, loyal, intense, sensual and very sensitive to others and making sure they are ok…..no apologies…that is me all over… Thank you to my clients who have sent birthday wishes and pressies I am truly blessed. Now to have a lovely massage today and just chill out  The ultimate question today will be which movies to watch at home?  Any suggestions?

Precious Family Portraits

My post today is about something very close to my heart.  As a photographer, I always seem to be talking to people about how important up-to-date Family Portraits are, for both the family who are currently in the moment with you, as well as the future family and generations to come.  I’ve looked back at old family photos of generations gone by, with not much thought about how I personally have a responsibility to continue that record of our family tree.  Life gets in the way, moments in the here and now take over, and 10 and 20 years flies by without even a blink.  I have spent so many years avoiding being in front of the camera, due to my physical size.  I felt overwhelmed by my appearance and didn’t want to face it.  As a result, there are not many photos of myself, or myself with my husband and our little furbaby.  I suspect we might have more photos from our wedding day together, than we do in the entire 17 years that we have known each other.  How sad is that?  I have allowed my view of my self and my body image, to dictate how I am remembered by the future generations…… I will be known as that great grandmother or great auntie who never got in a photograph, and when I did I didn’t look very happy about it LOL  It’s funny how life changes, and things that weren’t obvious to you all of a sudden become a reality and hold significant importance.  In the last year I have lost 30kgs, turned over a new leaf and felt more alive and connected than I ever have!  I’ve taken more ‘selfies’ of my self, than I care to admit lol  And now it is time to stand in front of the camera more often, and capture our life, our connections and our story.  I’m not just talking about ‘snap shots’, I’m talking about actual ‘thought through’ Portraits of my family that are a record and a piece of our history.  I will post them here on occasion to give you an idea of the story I am creating.  I’m going to call this project “The Archives” as an ongoing record of family and connections to treasure.  You won’t see just general quickly grabbed snapshots, unless they hold an especially important significance and tell a story.  To get us started, I have posted a portrait I took of our furbaby last weekend…..baby steps….I will be in the next one I promise

The Archives

This is our precious little furbaby – a blue point Birman cat.  Our first ‘baby’ to be a part of our family.  She is now 11 years old…..a little wiser….a little more settled….can be like a playful kitten when she wants to be…..can eat prawns until they are coming out of her ears lol…….

I captured this image while she was sleeping on our loungeroom couch this last weekend.  There were birds having a grand old time outside the window, and she was keen to sleep there and just listen to them.  It was an overcast day, so the sun was gently streaming into the blinds behind her.  She has the fluffiest fur, that malts everywhere!!  We are forever picking fur off clothes!!  But we wouldn’t have it any other way.  She has such a personality about her, and actually does communicate with us in her own way.  I haven’t taken many photos of her in the 11 years we have had her.  This worries me that we won’t have much to remember her by when she decides to leave this earth.  I aim to change this…..starting now…
