Let's say you've just picked a team and backed them to win. Few
minutes time the match kicks off, 15
minutes of play the
team is already 3 nil down and you know what that means.

And you wonder what went wrong so early, so many things might have been the problem but you did not check. Surprisingly, once a team was an eagle who rules the sky suddenly a mere chick dat can be beaten and won by any other birds(teams).

Definitely something went out of place, something was not right. Let's see five(5) possible cause of this:

1. LACK OF FORM
My problem is not picking the small teams or backing them in my bets, but are they in good form.

Form is very important in fact it is what every smart punter looks before choosing a team. A team with a bad form can be likened to a boxer wit wrist injury, he may so much want to fight but certainly he won't be able to give out his 100%. And then the opponent notice the weakness and punish him.

One way we can know the current form of a team is to check their recent stats(past five matches).

2. INJURED PLAYERS
When the key man is not around the whole team suffers because he brings to the team that extra quality that makes them difficult to break or to play.

The team can work hard,stay disciplined but he just got that extra ability beyond mere satisfactory level that makes the difference. If you have been watching football for a long time you will agree with me that every strong team seem to have a star man that rescues them in difficult times.

Bottom line: Teams with so much injury problems should be avoided in your slip.

3. THEIR OPPONENT
Teams maintain good streak of good performances just because they have not met a good team. As soon as they meet a team with good quality too, they soon realise that they have serious problems in some department which they have to take care of.

So before backing a team check their opponent if the opponent is also in good form you should avoid including that match on your slip.

4. POSITION ON THE LOG
Teams at the top end of the log show consistency over time, they show their strength to maintain discipline week in week out.

When choosing a team for a bet I think it is important to check their league position, it is important to choose a team from the top against the bottom teams. The bottom four teams show a lack of stability and inconsistency. But before then check their form because in the course of the league some teams pick up very good form and they become very difficult to beat.

5. STATISTICS
I discovered this not very long ago, that some teams are very good in defence but score very low number of goals. Apparently, this kind of teams are not good for some options like over 2.5, though they will not loose but few goals will be scored.

Other things can be be revealed through their recent stats, things like defensive ability, attacking prowess e.t.c All these can help you make a better decision on what to bet on a particular team.

A PUNTER'S VIEW: Clearly, Tottenham are the faviurites in this encounter having not lost in their last 12 matches in the premier league
and Chelsea have been in a terrible form so far this season.

For any team that might win today, it will not be easy so I don't see so many goals coming in this encounter. I advise against 'over 2.5' in this encounter. Although anything is possible.

But could they be surprises? Yes of course. Chelsea can change things or at least not loose today but backing them for a win or double chance is not advisable. And you know in a premier league affair surprises are not always far away.
