Y la misión que le ha dado Dios es ponerse en forma y convertirse en un buen tipo para recuperar a su ex esposa. Bueno, Pat es un poco disfuncional y, por esta razón, ha pasado algunos años en un centro de salud mental.</i><br /><i>Ahora ha regresado al hogar familiar y allí, con la ayuda de su madre (una sufrida mujer que acaba por declararse en huelga de cocina y limpieza), su padre (un hombre gruñón que no tiene otra manera de relacionarse con su hijo que viendo deportes por la tele) y su hermano (un calculador nuevo rico que termina por mostrar su lado sensible) emprende su particular plan de rehabilitación y reconquista.</i><br /><i>Pero los caminos del señor son inescrutables, y el final feliz de Pat Peoples está muy lejos de ser como él había imaginado.</i></blockquote><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_7a-R4xfdEA/UTD36cfTHrI/AAAAAAAADyk/33Hac2Ig0Ew/s1600/slp.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_7a-R4xfdEA/UTD36cfTHrI/AAAAAAAADyk/33Hac2Ig0Ew/s1600/slp.png" /></a>Siendo sincera, leí este libro porque ansiaba mucho poder ver la película. Por eso creo que me esperaba algo completamente diferente. Pensé que sería un libro ligero, romántico y divertido. Al ir avanzando me encontré abstraída por la mente del protagonista, quien vivía obsesionado por terminar el "periodo de separación" con su esposa. Digamos que <i><b>todo</b></i> lo que hacía para superarse (cómo comportarse, hablar, relacionarse, qué leer, el ponerse en forma, el cómo vestirse) tenía que ver con llegar a ese esperado encuentro. Pero mientras más leía, más me entristecía cómo Pat iba descubriendo la realidad y las mentiras que su familia y amigos habían tejido para protegerlo de sí mismo. Me chocó lo duro que fue para él asumir que el final de su "película" quizás no iba a ser el esperado.<br /><br /><b>Mi opinión:</b> Es una historia preciosa, que te lleva por un camino de aceptación de las duras verdades de la vida, de encontrar segundas oportunidades y de volver a empezar. Me gustó la complejidad de los personajes más el hecho de que a pesar de no ser una novela tan extensa, el autor se da tiempo para desarrollar a fondo a varios de ellos. Creo que lo único que le faltó fue algo más de romance (¿quizás más protagonismo al personaje de Tiffany?), aunque para el sentido de la novela estuvo bien, ya que no era lo esencial de la trama. Pat primero tenía que caminar por un larguísimo trayecto de aprendizaje y autosuperación luego de haber tocado fondo, sorteando el caos originado en su mente (y de paso, los problemas de su propia familia). También era imperativo el aprender a perdonarse a sí mismo antes de poder encontrar sitio en su cabeza (y corazón) para alojar a alguien más.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Valoración: <span style="font-size: x-large;">4</span>/5<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WiSy1PTHlL0/T15EEWMI4oI/AAAAAAAACao/_03kHJ48uDo/s1600/4stars.png" /></div><br /></div><b>Sobre la película:</b> La vi y me encantó, creo que se complementa con la novela en el sentido de que funde todo, incluyendo la comedia y el romance. Este dicho quiere decir que por más oscura que esté una nube (por más mal que estén las cosas), siempre se podrá ver su cubierta de plata o lado luminoso (siempre se puede encontrar el lado bueno). Ya soy diseñadora :')<br /><b>Una semana después:</b> Necesito trabajo D:<br /><b>Ahora:</b> Trabajando y más ocupada que nunca.</blockquote><br />Como ven, el blog no estuvo abandonado "por que sí". La verdad es que nunca ha sido la principal de mis prioridades, y la paciencia que han tenido conmigo no tiene precio.<br /><br />A pesar de esto, mi blog ha llegado a los 775 seguidores y en <a href="http://www.facebook.com/blogenlibroabierto" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">facebook</a> ha alcanzado los 116 "me gusta". Nunca pensé que algo así sería posible. Les doy un gracias de todo corazón.<br /><br />Me quedan un montón de metas, entre las cuales están el ordenar mis asuntos, actualizar más seguido y terminar algún día el desafío de los 50 libros (se viene el próximo a la medianoche). Finalmente una amiga me lo recomendó vía Twitter, diciéndome (textual) : «ES MUY MUY MUY bueno ♥, es precioso y lloré tres años ;_; léelo <3»<br /><br />«Oh, Dios, ¿por qué?» Me pregunté. Decidí leer la sinopsis, que pueden ver traducida más arriba. «Oh, así que es un libro sobre cáncer. Ya sé cómo terminará esto. ¿En qué me estoy metiendo? <strike>¿Por qué me estoy haciendo esto?</strike>»<br /><br /><b>Mi opinión:</b> A pesar de reticencia inicial, me convencí a leerlo. Resulta que sí, efectivamente es un libro de ficción sobre personas ficticias con cáncer ficticio (el autor jura y re-jura que Hazel no está basada en una persona real). Pero es mucho más; es un libro sobre cómo aprovechar la vida al máximo, disfrutar a los que más quieres, amar hasta que más te duela y, sobre todo, <i>vivir</i>. Quizás crean que van a llorar (personalmente no lo hice, pero admito que tiene pasajes desgarradores), en realidad yo les digo que van a reír. Está hermosamente escrito. Los personajes son extraordinarios. Con esta lectura les garantizo un orgasmo literario. Ya había advertido antes que iba a ser algo floja la actualización del blog.<br /><br />Segundo, no estaba segura de qué número ponerle al título de este IMM, puesto que antes del cierre/reapertura del blog, tenía escritos muchos más. Pero ya que han sido borrados, es mejor comenzar de nuevo.<br /><br />Veamos, ¡he ido a la librería! Y para comprar, cosa que lamentablemente no suele suceder seguido (el precio de los libros en Chile está por las nubes). Esta edición me costó, en la librería Antártica, $3.200 pesos chilenos. Otra edición en el mismo sitio costaba $8.500 pesos. Ambos libros eran, a simple vista, exactamente iguales. Los tuve en mi mano y los examiné detenidamente. Los dos eran de tapa blanda y quizá el único detalle es que la joven Carrie de la portada sale en el lomo de un libro y en el otro no. Al cabo de varios minutos, reparé en la diferencia: mi libro (el más barato que finalmente compré) estaba envuelto en nylon, por lo que ocultaba que la tapa no tenía un acabado termolaminado (o lacado o como quieran llamarlo; olvidé los nombres técnicos). La otra tapa sí lo tenía y por ello se veía brillante. Y ahí, señoras y señores, radicaba la diferencia de $5.300 pesos.<br /><br />¿Qué opinan? Pienso que es exagerado. Luego de mucho pensarlo, he decidido que quiero seguir con este blog y con su objetivo original, el simplemente compartir los libros que leo. Para editar el ancho de la barra cambiamos el valor de <span style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: 'Courier New',Courier,monospace;">width:200px</span> por el que más nos convenga. Recuerda, por ejemplo, el ancho de tu sidebar. Para cambiar el color del borde, nos enfocaremos en <span style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: 'Courier New',Courier,monospace;">border:1px solid #000000</span>. Como pueden ver hay un color hexadecimal correspondiente al negro. Lo cambian por el color qué más les guste, utilizando las herramientas que les proporcioné anteriormente.<br /><br /><b><span style="color: purple;">Violeta:</span></b> El interior de la barra, ese color que define nuestro progreso. Esta parte es muy importante. Para editar el ancho de la barra, veremos que esta vez hay un porcentaje: <span style="color: purple; font-family: 'Courier New',Courier,monospace;">width:50%</span> (en este caso). Ese porcentaje lo van cambiando al tiempo que cambian su porcentaje de libros leídos que sale más abajo.<br /><br /><b><span style="color: #e69138;">Naranjo:</span></b> No lo toquen. Corresponde al salto de línea entre la barra de progreso y el texto bajo esta última.<br /><br /><ul><li><b>Paso 7: Editando el texto</b></li></ul><br />El código que he marcado en <b><span style="color: #3d85c6;">azul</span></b> corresponde al texto mostrado bajo la barra de progreso.
