Yay! All that lovely writing got a good home. I still have copies of Enamel 1 and 2 left which I am also willing to post to you if you're interested. Just let me know if you want 1 or 2 or both and I'll send them out to you.

Happy New Year!

Enamel 3: The End

So it's finally out! Thank you to all contributors. I printed a limited edition and will be giving them away, including free postage. If you would like one email me at enamel dot editor at gmail dot com and I will send you a copy. Alternatively if you would like a pdf let me know and I can send you one of those.

Please don't think this means I devalue the work inside! Rather I am trying to get these poems spread more widely in a world where people don't always have the cash for poetry and fiction.

I am incredibly happy to have published all of the writers that are in Enamel 3 and I hope they all continue to get published elsewhere and that they keep writing.

An End to Enamel

I just wanted to officially let everyone know that this forthcoming Enamel will be the last one.

Putting out a lit mag such as this takes a lot of time, effort and money. I've had good support from many writers around the world and in New Zealand but unfortunately I've decided not to continue with this project. There are lots of really interesting lit mags and journals in New Zealand at the moment and I look forward to supporting them.

Most notably from my two favourite Helens! (After Aunty Helen that is!)

Helen Rickerby did a lovely wee review. And so did Helen Heath. Helen H. called it a yummy wee number. Thanks Helen and Helen!

I've also noticed a few other people spreading the news through aggregators and other sites about publishing and writing which is very lovely. We were also lucky enough to get a spot on The Wellingtonista. Thanks guys!

Sales are going well on Trade Me. Better than almost anywhere else. So if you haven't gotten a copy yet and you want one go here.

Review 2

Another lovely review by Meliors Simms, another of the poets in Enamel.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions are open for the second edition of Enamel. Please read and submit according to the Submission Guidelines. They are there for a few reasons:

a) they outline what I'm looking for.

b) it's much easier to select poetry once you get a feel for the poet in general; one poem isn't enough to judge this, unless it is an absolute show stopper.

c) there is only a certain amount of room in this totally self funded project.

d) many magazines have similar guidelines and learning to write a good submission is an important part of getting published.

As always feel free to email (enamel dot editor at gmail dot com) with any questions that you have. I'm looking forward to reading more submissions!

ART needed

I am currently looking for art submissions. I am looking for art that is any of these things: edgy, political, quirky, stark, fantastical, surreal, funny, folky, crafty... If you have anything in black and white, or know anyone who might like to get some of their art published in a new NZ lit mag, let me know, or pass on their info to me, or my info to them, or whatevs. I can't offer any payment, but I can offer credit, a complimentary copy and publishing!

email: enamel dot editor at gmail dot com

The Story So Far

Thanks to everyone who has submitted so far. Submissions will close at the end of August 2008. Enamel will have a limited release by the end of 2008. We welcome all types of poetry and short fiction and are looking for writing that makes us wish we had written it. There will be an antipodean focus and a slight bias towards pro-feminist lit. Don't let either of those things put you off if you have a piece of work that you believe in.

We are accepting submissions in the body of an email only. We don't think posting on your personal blog constitutes publishing, but would appreciate you removing the post if your work is selected. We don't accept previously published work from online publications, or print publications. If you have specific formatting requirements, please ask before submitting attached files. Please submit your work once only.
