Top Disneyland Tips from past guests

Tell your kids to go talk to a Cast Member with a name badge on if they get lost- they will take them to the "Lost Parents" area at City Hall/Guest Services.

Food/drinks can be brought in but no Glass containers/bottles.

There are lockers and charging stations at the front gate areas.

Take a picture on your phone/camera of the tickets and photopass cards you get in case you lose them.

Put a label on your phone, backpack, camera, etc. for another number to contact if it gets lost.

FastPasses are included with your admission to Disneyland- it gives you an hour window to jump in a shorter line (usually) for a shorter wait time. Put your admission ticket in the machine and it shows you what time (doesn't work earlier or later than what's listed) and also when you can get your next FastPass. Keep an eye on those times!

If your child is too small to ride, go up to the front of the ride as a group and as for a Rider Swap pass. The first rider can use a FastPass then the second rider has anytime that day to do the ride with another guest.

Bring glow sticks/wands for World of Color and evening fireworks shows.

See characters at the Character meals- there are 5 at Disneyland. 2 premium: Ariel's Grotto in California Adventure park on the pier and Goofy's Kitchen in the Disneyland hotel. The other 3 are breakfast only: Mickey's at PCH Grill in the Paradise Pier hotel, Chip and Dale's Critter breakfast at Grand Californian hotel and Minnie's Breakfast in the park at the Plaza Inn restaurant at Disneyland park.

Also at City Hall, you can get buttons for whatever you are celebrating during your visit- Birthday, Anniversary, etc or just an I'm Celebrating button. Cast Members and guests will definitely say something to add to your special day!

Most meals are big enough to share in the parks.

Use a helpful App service like Touring Plans (DLR Lines) or RideMax to maximize your ride plans!

Cruise Week: MYTH or FACT answers

There were four questions set on our Facebook page with common misconceptions about going on a Disney Cruise. Let's check your answers!

1. You MUST have a passport to sail round trip out of a US port. MYTH.

As long as the cruise itinerary departs and arrives (round trip) back in the US, passengers are not required to have a US Passport. Birth Certificates and Photo ID's are required by each passenger. Passports are highly recommended though!

2. All Cruises have a Character Meal. MYTH.

The Character Meals are included on the 7-night or longer cruises. Although there isn't a set character breakfast like many have experienced at the Disneyland or Disney World parks, there are other ways you can encounter the characters. There are princesses, Mickey and Friends, and Jack Sparrow who make appearances at set times. Those times will be found in your Personal Navigator.

3. Each sailing has a Pirate party with fireworks. FACT

This is available on ALL Disney Cruises. The night begins with a dinner where you'll find your server dressed up in their 'Pirate Garb' at one of the Main Dining restaurants. You'll receive a bandana and enjoy a night full of pirate themed fun. The night continues with the Deck Party: Music, Dancing and an encounter between Captain Hook and Mickey. And of course, the night finishes with the Finale of Fireworks! Sounds like a lot of fun!!

4. Disney Cruises have Adult Only spots throughout the ship. FACT

Everyone knows Disney is very family oriented, but they do consider those not traveling with children or parents that need some quiet time. Cruises have Adult Only pools, bars, restaurants, and even a private Adult Only beach at Castaway Cay! Ask us for more specifics after you book and we can help guide you to some quiet time while on vacation!

**I just wanted to share a wonderful getaway my husband and I took. We went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and stayed in a small romantic cabin in the woods. It was just beautiful, peaceful and so refreshing and relaxing! The cabin had a cute front porch with a swing, where we spent time relaxing and enjoying nature and just breathing the wonderful crisp Smokey Mountain air! The back porch had a hot tub where we also enjoyed a nice cocktail and watched beautiful sunsets. If you ever want a peaceful, refreshing getaway with the one you love, I highly recommend a getaway to the Smokey Mountains. You will be so glad you did!!

**My boyfriend and I love to travel and wherever we go, his 2 amazing boys go with us as well. So it was to my surprise when he decided that we should take a trip to San Francisco for an extended weekend without his boys. It was so much fun to explore the city, visit Fisherman's wharf, take in Alcatraz, and ride the cable cars while just reconnecting with each other for those 4 days we were there. While that trip was 2 years ago, we still talk about it all the time and have finally told the boys that next time we go there, we will take them. We haven't been on a trip alone since then, but I think he has started to hint about going away again, just the two of us, after we successfully finish our first trip with the boys to WDW this summer.

Winner 4: Romance Retreat

**When I was pregnant with our first son in 2006-2007 my husband took me away for a week to Virginia Beach, VA. It was so nice and we even got to see dolphins swim by our hotel every day we were there in July.
In December of that year, I had decided that he deserved a vacation where he didn't have to plan anything. I took him to Atlantic City, NJ for Christmas and to see his favorite band Twisted Sister. Even though people associate AC with gambling and dirtiness, it was actually very romantic that time of year. Christmas lights every where and it snowed while we strolled the boardwalk.
Now, we are on baby #2 and we try to do thing just the 2 of us, but it is hard. Usually our getaway is just for the day, but it's still nice to reconnect. We live in MD and will go for a drive in the VA mountains and enjoy the view.

Congratulations on baby #2!! Keep that romance alive by making time for each other!!

**My husband and I were married just over a year, his 30th birthday was approaching. I wanted to do something special. I called his boss and got a Friday and Monday off for him, and swore her to secrecy. I snuck into his email and got the email addresses of his old fraternity brothers and emailed them. Thursday evening I called him and told him my car broke down, could he meet me at my mom's? Ten minutes after he got there a limo pulled up. He got to spend his 30th birthday in Arizona with friends he had not seen since graduation. I rented a van so I could be their designated driver, I also got to tell him we were expecting a baby!!!!**

Actions speak louder than words. I'm sure her husband was feeling the LOVE she had for him!

**My favorite memory was my honeymoon. My husband really wanted to go to Colorado to do outdoorsy things but the air tickets were outrageous. So we decided on Vegas instead. Little did he know I changed it on him. We flew to Vegas and spent the night. In the morning I said I had a surprise and I would give him driving directions. We packed up got in the car and started to drive. On the expressway I said head east, he said how many miles, um about 600. I surprised him, rented a car and we drove to Colorado for the week. It took a while but we made it. I had 4 wheeling, hiking, and white water rafting all planned for us.

Check out the first magical experience!

My husband and I were married when I was only 18 and he was 19. We honeymooned in Disney World! During our trip, we went to the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. My husband was determined to volunteer. I told him that was fine as long as he didn't volunteer me! Sure enough, the person up front asked for a couple on their honeymoon. My husband jumped up, and we were picked! I couldn't believe he had me go up, too, but we did. They asked how long we had been married, and it was fun to hear the reaction from the crowd when we told them it had only been 6 days. :) We had a blast! And later on in the day, we had a family stop us in line at the Tower of Terror to tell us congratulations since they had seen us in the show. It was so sweet!
