Cyber-weapons of Pentagon and the computer warfare

Washington : The Pentagon has developed a list of cyber-weapons and -tools, including viruses that can sabotage an adversary’s critical networks, to streamline how the United States engages in computer warfare, Washington Post reported.

The classified list of capabilities has been in use for several months and has been approved by other agencies, including the CIA, said military officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a sensitive program. The list forms part of the Pentagon’s set of approved weapons or “fires” that can be employed against an enemy.

“So whether it’s a tank, an M-16 or a computer virus, it’s going to follow the same rules so that we can understand how to employ it, when you can use it, when you can’t, what you can and can’t use,” a senior military official said.

The integration of cyber-technologies into a formal structure of approved capabilities is perhaps the most significant operational development in military cyber-doctrine in years, the senior military official said.

The framework clarifies, for instance, that the military needs presidential authorization to penetrate a foreign computer network and leave a cyber-virus that can be activated later.

The military does not need such approval, however, to penetrate foreign networks for a variety of other activities. These include studying the cyber-capabilities of adversaries or examining how power plants or other networks operate. Military cyber-warriors can also, without presidential authorization, leave beacons to mark spots for later targeting by viruses, the official said.

One example of a cyber-weapon is the Stuxnet worm that disrupted operations at an Iranian nuclear facility last year. U.S. officials have not acknowledged creating the computer worm, but many experts say they believe they had a role.

Under the new framework, the use of a weapon such as Stuxnet could occur only if the president granted approval, even if it were used during a state of hostilities, military officials said. The use of any cyber-weapon would have to be proportional to the threat, not inflict undue collateral damage and avoid civilian casualties.

The new framework comes as the Pentagon prepares to release a cyber-strategy that focuses largely on defense, the official said. It does not make a declaratory statement about what constitutes an act of war or use of force in cyberspace. Instead, it seeks to clarify, among other things, that the United States need not respond to a cyber-attack in kind but may use traditional force instead as long as it is proportional.

Nonetheless, another U.S. official acknowledged that “the United States is actively developing and implementing” cyber-capabilities “to deter or deny a potential adversary the ability to use its computer systems” to attack the United States.

In general, under the framework, the use of any cyber-weapon outside an area of hostility or when the United States is not at war is called “direct action” and requires presidential approval, the senior military official said. But in a war zone, where quick capabilities are needed, sometimes presidential approval can be granted in advance so that the commander has permission to select from a set of tools on demand, the officials said.

The framework breaks use of weapons into three tiers: global, regional and area of hostility. The threshold for action is highest in the global arena, where the collateral effects are the least predictable.

It was drafted in part out of concerns that deciding when to fire in cyberspace can be more complicated than it is on traditional battlefields. Conditions constantly shift in cyberspace, and the targets can include computer servers in different countries, including friendly ones.

Last year, for instance, U.S. intelligence officials learned of plans by an al-Qaeda affiliate to publish an online jihadist magazine in English called Inspire, according to numerous current and senior U.S. officials. And to some of those skilled in the emerging new world of cyber-warfare, Inspire seemed a natural target.

The head of the newly formed U.S. Cyber Command, Gen. Keith Alexander, argued that blocking the magazine was a legitimate counterterrorism target and would help protect U.S. troops overseas. But the CIA pushed back, arguing that it would expose sources and methods and disrupt an important source of intelligence. The proposal also rekindled a long-standing interagency struggle over whether disrupting a terrorist Web site overseas was a traditional military activity or a covert activity — and hence the prerogative of the CIA.

The CIA won out, and the proposal was rejected. But as the debate was underway within the U.S. government, British government cyber-warriors were moving forward with a plan.

When Inspire launched on June 30, the magazine’s cover may have promised an “exclusive interview” with Sheik Abu Basir al-Wahishi, a former aide to Osama bin Laden, and instructions on how to “Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom.” But pages 4 through 67 of the otherwise slick magazine, including the bomb-making instructions, were garbled as a result of the British cyber-attack.

It took almost two weeks for al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula to post a corrected version, said Evan Kohlmann, senior partner at Flashpoint Global Partners, which tracks jihadi Web sites.

The episode reflected how offensive cyber-operations are marked by persistent disagreement over who should take action and under what conditions. The new list of approved cyber-weapons will not settle those disputes but should make the debate easier to conduct, the senior military official said.

Some lawmakers also are proposing statutory language that would affirm that the defense secretary has the authority “to carry out a clandestine operation in cyberspace” under certain conditions. The operation must be in support of a military operation pursuant to Congress’s 2001 authorization to the president to use all necessary and appropriate force against those who committed the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

House Armed Services Committee Vice Chairman Mac Thornberry (R-Tex.), who drafted the language as part of the House-adopted 2012 defense authorization bill, said he was motivated by hearing from commanders in Iraq and Afghanistan frustrated by an inability to protect their forces against attacks they thought were enabled by adversaries spreading information online.

“I have had colonels come back to me and talk about how they thought they could do a better job of protecting their troops if they could deal with a particular Web site,” he said. “Yet because it was cyber, it was all new unexplored territory that got into lots of lawyers from lots of agencies being involved.”

Thornberry’s provision would establish that computer attacks to deny terrorists the use of the Internet to communicate and plan attacks from throughout the world are a “clandestine” and “traditional military” activity, according to text accompanying the proposed statute.

But the White House issued a policy statement last week that it had concerns with the cyber-provision. It declined to elaborate.

Thornberry said some Pentagon lawyers thought the proposed statutory language could go further. “But my view on cyber is we need to take it a step at a time,” he said.

Government Claims Osama Wanted to Kill Obama, US Government

According to ABC News, the U.S. discovered a plot to kill Obama in the million or so pages supposedly taken from Osama’s mansion in Pakistan.

“U.S. officials are analyzing one million pages of data from the trove found in Osama bin Laden’s compound during the raid that killed him, and say they have learned more in the past ten days than in the past 10 years,” ABC claims.

In order to portray the terror group named after a Mujahideen database as ruthless, the U.S. also claims al-Qaeda wants to murder Obama’s 88 year old Kenyan step-grandmother, Sarah Obama.

“There is no doubt that when it comes to the American people,” said Obama, “that after having killed bin Laden there may be a desire on some al Qaeda members to exact revenge and that’s something that we have to be vigilant about and we’re monitoring all these situations.”

Obama and the government have yet to provide evidence they assassinated Osama bin Laden. Like the claim by the government that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction – a claim that later turned out to be cynical war propaganda with no basis in fact – the assertion that Navy SEALs and the CIA targeted and killed the al-Qaeda leader who died in late 2001 has no basis in fact.

Libyan government Forces destroys Four Fuel Tanks in Rebel held Misurata

Misurata: Libyan government forces has destroyed four large oil-storage tanks in the rebel held city of Misurata by dropping bombs, destroying the facilities and sparking a fire that spread to four more, according to a rebel spokesman.

Government forces used small, pesticide-spraying planes for the overnight attack in Qasr Ahmed close to the port, Ahmed Hassan, the spokesman, said on Saturday.

Misurata is the last remaining city in the west under rebel control. It has been under siege for more than two months and has been the scene of some of the war's fiercest fighting between the rebels and loyalists of Muammar Gaddafi, Libya's long-time ruler.

According to Rebel Spokesman the rebels notified NATO about the aircraft before the attack but there was no response.

"Four tanks were totally destroyed and huge fire erupted which spread now to the other four. We cannot extinguish it because we do not have the right tools," he said.

"Now the city will face a major problem. Those were the only source of fuel for the city. These tanks could have kept the city for three months with enough fuel."

Gaddafi's forces flew at least one helicopter reconnaissance mission over Misurata last month, according to the rebels.

Baghdad : According to officials at least sixteen people have been killed after detainees at an Iraqi detention facility tried to overpower their guards.

The incident occurred at the ministry of interior's Baghdad compound, designed to be one of the most secure facilities in the country, the melee started after a prisoner grabbed a pistol and killed several police officers as he was being transferred between buildings. Other inmates then joined in, the source said.

Another official said security reinforcements arrived and killed the group trying to escape.

Six police officers and 10 inmates, including the one who first grabbed a weapon, were reportedly shot dead in the incident but there were conflicting reports on the exact death toll.

Among the detainees were suspected al-Qaeda in Iraq members involved in an attack last October on a Baghdad church that left 68 people dead, officials said.

Several other detainees were injured and brought to Baghdad's al-Kindi hospital under tight security. They were taken away by security officials to an unidentified location after being treated, officials said.

It is the latest embarrassing incident for Iraq related to its detention facilities.

Sectarian clashes erupt in Egypt's capital

Cairo : According to Hospital and Security officials at least six people have been killed and 75 others wounded in clashes between Muslims and Christians.

Saturday's clashes erupted after a group of Muslims attacked the Coptic Saint Mena church in the northwestern district of Imbaba to free a Christian woman they alleged was being held against her will because she wanted to convert to Islam.

The verbal clash soon developed into a full fledged confrontation where the two sides exchanged gunfire, firebombs and stones.

Authorities deployed large numbers of soldiers and police, backed by armoured vehicles, to the area. The army fired shots in the air and used tear gas to separate both sides, witnesses said.

White House Claims 4-Year-Old Bin Laden Video Is New Footage

In a desperate effort to bolster its crumbling official narrative, the White House today released a set of dubious Bin Laden “home movies” purportedly seized from his compound during the raid on Sunday night that it claims show Bin Laden on camera in 2010, but the tapes are almost identical to footage released almost four years ago by a notorious Pentagon front group that acts as a conduit for US intelligence by regularly releasing fake Al-Qaeda videos.

Before we even look at the new tapes, recall that the Washington Post reported last year on how CIA officials recruited “darker-skinned employees” to create fake Bin Laden tapes. The fact that the CIA created fake Bin Laden tapes is an admitted fact, not a conspiracy theory.

“Extraordinary home videos taken from Osama bin Laden’s hideout show the terrorist leader watching news coverage of himself on television,” reports the Daily Mail.

“The videos were seized by Navy SEALs after Bin Laden was killed. They were shown to reporters this afternoon by intelligence officials.”

One of the videos purports to show Bin Laden watching television news reports about himself. The footage is filmed from almost behind his head and only shows a small portion of his face. The TV shows footage of Bin Laden as well as still images and footage of Barack Obama. Interestingly, the only moment in which the cameraman zooms in on the TV so that you can clearly see the picture is when it either shows Bin Laden, Obama, or both of them in a still shot together.

Contrary to the footage of Bin Laden allegedly flicking through television channels, in which his beard is gray, in the other tapes, which the White House claims were recorded between October and November 2010, Bin Laden appears with his beard dyed black. The man watching TV appears to be much older than the Bin Laden seen in the other tapes.

MSNBC ran the video under the headline New Video Shows Bin Laden In Gold Robe. However, these tapes are almost identical to footage first released by the Pentagon front group SITE in September 2007. In that footage, Bin Laden also appears with a dyed beard and is wearing exactly the same clothes. The only thing that differs is the color of the background, but in other tapes the background is the same brown color as the 2007 tape. As computer expert Neal Krawetz’s analysis revealed, fake backgrounds are often used on purported “Al-Qaeda” tapes, where a blue screen is used to superimpose the figure of the speaker over a pre-selected backdrop.

The footage in these tapes purports to show Bin Laden making recordings in late 2010, and yet he looks identical to how he appeared in tapes first released in 2007.

The establishment media has completely failed to even mention the fact that much of the footage, which the White House claims was filmed in 2010, is almost identical to that first released in 2007 by the Pentagon front group SITE. Why would Bin Laden make a video in October 2010 and not release it? Unless this is merely outtakes from the footage already released four years ago.

It would not be the first time that tapes of Bin Laden have been passed off as new material when in fact they are years old.

In July 2007, the mainstream media heralded the arrival of a tape of Bin Laden giving a speech as new footage. In fact it was almost six years old, having been filmed in October 2001 and later released by IntelCenter, SITE’s sister organization, in October 2003. At the time we did an image comparison proving that the footage dubbed “new” in 2007 was in fact filmed in 2001 and released first by the Al-Ansaar Islamic news agency in 2002.

As we documented yesterday, the organization that released the original 2007 tape which is virtually identical to the tapes released by the White House today is nothing more than a conduit for Pentagon propaganda run the daughter of a former Israeli spy.

The SITE organization is virtually a contractor for the U.S. government, receiving some $500,000 a year annually from Uncle Sam, and has been caught releasing fake Al-Qaeda tapes on numerous occasions. SITE’s website domain is hosted by servers located in Washington DC, which are stationed between the Department of Homeland Security and the Israeli Embassy.

As in the 2007 tape, the As-Sahab logo appears in the “new” tapes released by the White House. A 2007 investigation by Neal Krawetz featured in Wired Magazine found that the As-Sahab logo was added at the same as the IntelCenter logo, another US military-industrial complex front, meaning the so-called “Al-Qaeda” tapes were in fact coming straight out of US intelligence circles. Although Krawetz asserted that this was the case in a taped interview, after the story began to receive attention he mysteriously backed away from the claim despite Wired’s Kim Zetter receiving approval from Krawetz that all the information contained in the original report was valid.

These “new” tapes which are actually identical to footage first released in 2007 will do little to firm up the White House’s crumbling Bin Laden narrative, which has been under suspicion after it was reported that Osama’s body was hastily dumped into the sea and President Obama refused to release an image of the dead Bin Laden.

The narrative of last Sunday’s raid has flip-flopped constantly and even mainstream journalists are starting to become wary, particularly after it emerged that Obama and Hillary could not have watched the raid unfold live as they had claimed because the live feed was cut before the Navy SEALS entered the compound, meaning that the “situation room” photos that purported to show Obama and Hillary watching Bin Laden’s assassination live were in fact completely staged.

The Savior or Christ

Nearly all Major religions are currently anticipating the appearance of their “savior,” variously called, “Messiah,” “Jesus Christ,” “the Twelfth Mahdi,” “the Fifth Buddha,” or “the Tenth Avatar.” Within ecumenical circles, there is a growing awareness that one single man might actually fulfill all these religions’ expectations. A one-size-fits-all messiah would bring all the world’s religions together.

Christianity

If you consider the broadest definition of Christianity, not all of the approximately 2.1 billion Christians anticipate the arrival of Jesus Christ as Messiah but they believe that Jesus peace be upon him will come back on earth. The Catholic Church, as well as some Orthodox groups, also emphasize the return of Jesus Christ.

Islam

Many of about 1.5 billion Muslims believe that before the coming of Essa (Jesus) peace be upon him a descendant of Mohammed (peace be upon him) who’s name will also be Muhammad his mother’s name will also be Aamina same as the name of Prophet Muhammad’s Mother (peace be upon him) and His father’s name will be of Prophet’s Father name Abdullah. He will not claim that he is Mehdi but people will call him so. He will be from the chain of Hassan (Alaih salam) and people will offer him the chair of Mehdi to lead them but he will not offer. He will initially fight Antichrist (Dajjal) who will claim to be false God. He will go in hiding with his few companions to wait for Jesus (peace be upon him) until he descends from heaven. Then Jesus (peace be upon him) will descend from heaven over the minaret in Damascus. He will fight with the “antichrist,” and convert the world to Islam (peace) and bring forth the peace in the world and will tell the world that he never claimed that he was the Son of God( the biggest ever blame on Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) and tore down the Cross as he was not ever hanged on Cross by Romans but that was Judas Iscariot (his betraying disciple) was hanged over it.

One should be clear that Islam is the only religion in the world which says that Jesus (peace be upon him) was the Prophet of God unlike all other which commit blasphemy in respect of Jesus. Islam also think that all of the prophets (peace be upon them) from Adam, Abraham (Ibrahem), Moses (Mosa), Jesus (Esa) to Muhammad (peace be upon him) were Muslims. Just Like followers of Muhammad (peace be upon him) are not called Muhammadans so as the followers of Moses are not Jews and Jesus are not Christians, but as Qur’an states that all the prophets were Muslims (means followers of true path). Muslim respect all prophets equally and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was Ishmael or Ismael the elder son of Prophet Abraham.

Muslim never think that the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is Mahdi not even Iranian think so, if some one uses it for propagating false notions about Islam let him be clear that the all stages of Mehdi and arrival of Antichrist and Jesus are narrated clearly in Qur’an and Hadith revelation of Prophet (peace be upon him)

One more thing should be clear that there are hundreds of Hadith in which there is clearly narrated that in which circumstances the Mehdi and Jesus will come and all the Muslims are very clear about the Mehdi arrival. Even lot of false Mehdis claims were rejected widely by common Muslims on the basis of the knowledge of sayings of prophet (peace be upon him).

I will also try to clarify the misconceptions about the topic and narrate the circumstances and symbols of the coming of Mehdi, Jesus and Qayamah(Doomsday) in the light of Qur’an and Sayings of Prophet Muhammad in next of my post.

Hinduism

Hinduism also believed in One God but due to changes made by Hindu disciples they imposed lot of news things in their religion. Most of world’s 900 Million Hindus look for the Tenth Avatar – Kalki. Many Hindus believe Vishnu is the creator of the world, who dwells within each person’s soul(symbolically not actually) and incarnates himself in the form of an Avatar whenever his presence is needed. The Tenth Avatar will be the last and will reign for over 400,000 years. He is to liberate the world from suffering, and enlighten all mankind.

Buddhism

Buddha taught that Buddhism would almost perish from the earth because the world would abandon moral conduct and become amoral, but then a new Buddha, a Maitreya would appear. He will achieve complete enlightenment, and teach the pure dharma (Pure Religion). He is predicted to be a “world-ruler,” uniting those who he rules over.

Judaism

Many of the roughly 14 million Jews long for Messiah, the Anointed King. They look for him to restore the Davidic Kingdom, rebuild the temple, re-gather a prosperous Israel and defeat her enemies, and bring peace to the world. As Jews say that their Messiah will not restore the whole world but the kingdom of Jews. Out of all other religions only Jews hope for the Messiah (Dajjal Messiah or Antichrist) that is different from others in the sense that he is only meant for Jews not for all mankind, he is not like the Savior who will lead all races with single religion and fill the world with peace. That is why all other major religions are of opinion that the Antichrist will surely be the leader of Jews.

Luciferianism/New World Order( Jewish secret movement or cult)

For the United Nations Interfaithism movement and many new age, ecumenical groups, there is a rising expectation of a universal messiah. The Lucis Trust, once called the Lucifer Foundation, has heavily influenced the United Nations from its founding. At its roots are occult secret societies such as Freemasons, Wicca, and the Order of the Golden Dawn. Robert Muller and Maurice Strong, influential in the founding of the United Nations, are adept new age advocates who tirelessly promote the blending of all religious faiths.

The “Son of Perdition”

Advocates of the New World Order will attempt to fulfill the world’s messianic expectations with one man. Christians call him the Antichrist. Thessalonians 2:3-4 tells that the Day of Christ will not come until “the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,” commonly called the Antichrist. (a) Victory over Antichrist and his followers with a fierce fight.

(b) Victory with the prayer of Jesus from so that Antichrist and followers will die.

Five Myths about Osama bin Laden

Few individuals in recent history have exerted greater influence on world events than Osama bin Laden — and even fewer have inspired as much mythology. From the origins of the al-Qaeda terrorist network to the devastation of Sept. 11, 2001, to the manhunt thatcame to an end with such drama last Sunday, bin Laden’s life has been shrouded in mysteries and misconceptions.

1. The CIA created Osama bin Laden.

Common among conspiracy theorists is the notion that bin Laden was a CIA creation and that the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, were blowback from an agency operation gone awry. Typifying this view is filmmaker Michael Moore, who on the day after the terrorist attacks wrote: “WE created the monster known as Osama bin Laden! Where did he go to terrorist school? At the CIA!”

In fact, during the Soviet war in Afghanistan during the 1980s, the CIA had no dealings with “Afghan Arabs” such as bin Laden and had few direct dealings with any of the Afghan mujaheddin. Instead, all U.S. aid to Afghanistan was funneled through Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency, the ISI. Brigadier Mohammad Yousaf, the ISI officer who coordinated Pakistani efforts during the war, explained in “The Bear Trap,” his 1992 book: “No Americans ever trained or had direct contact with the mujaheddin.”

Since 9/11, al-Qaeda insiders have responded in writing to assertions that they had some kind of relationship with the CIA. Bin Laden’s top lieutenant, Ayman al-Zawahiri, in his autobiographical “Knights Under the Banner of the Prophet,” wrote, “The truth that everyone should learn is that the United States did not give one penny in aid to the [Arab] mujaheddin.” Similarly, Abu Musab al-Suri, long an associate of bin Laden’s, explained in his history of the jihadist movement, “The Call to Global Islamic Resistance”: “It is a big lie that the Afghan Arabs were formed with the backing of the CIA.”

There are very few things that al-Qaeda and the CIA agree upon — except that they have never had any relationship.

2. Bin Laden attacked us because of our freedoms.

This was a common trope of President George W. Bush. Nine days after Sept. 11, Bush addressed Congress. “They hate our freedoms,” he said, “our freedom of religion, our freedom of speech, our freedom to vote and assemble and disagree with each other.” Yet, in all the tens of thousands of words uttered by bin Laden, he was strangely silent about American freedoms and values. He didn’t seem to care very much about the beliefs of the “crusaders.” His focus was invariably on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East.

In a review of 24statements made by bin Laden from 1994 to 2004, political scientist James L. Payne found that 72 percent of the content of the speeches referred to alleged Western or Jewish attacks against Muslims, while only 1 percent criticized American culture or way of life.

In a 2004 video, bin Laden directly rebutted Bush’s assertions about al-Qaeda’s motivations for attacking the United States: “Contrary to what Bush says and claims — that we hate your freedom. If that were true, then let him explain why did we not attack Sweden.”

3. Al-Qaeda’s ideology has nothing to do with Islam.

To his credit, Bush was quite firm that al-Qaeda represented a perversion of Islam, and one of his first acts after 9/11 was to visit a mosque in downtown Washington. But members of al-Qaeda firmly believe that their struggle has everything to do with the defense of what they consider true Islam. And bin Laden found ammunition in the Koran to give his war some Islamic legitimacy, often invoking the “Sword” verses of the holy book, which can be interpreted as urging attacks on those who won’t submit and convert to Islam. They read: “Once the Sacred Months are past (and they refuse to make peace), you may kill the idol worshipers when you encounter them, punish them, and resist every move they make. If they repent and observe the Prayers and give the obligatory alms-giving you shall let them go.”

Of course, that is a selective reading of the Koran, but for believers, this is not a mere book — it is literally the word of God.

4. Ayman al-Zawahiri, not bin Laden, is the real brains of al-Qaeda.

The conventional view is that Zawahiri, an Egyptian doctor and al-Qaeda’s longtime second in command, has been bin Laden’s “brain.” But in making the most important strategic shift in al-Qaeda’s history — identifying the United States as its key enemy, rather than Middle Eastern regimes — bin Laden brushed aside Zawahiri’s obsessive focus on overthrowing the Egyptian government. Noman Benotman, a Libyan militant who has spent considerable time talking with both of al-Qaeda’s leaders, told me in an interview that “Osama influenced Zawahiri with his idea: Forget about the ‘near enemy’; the main enemy is the Americans.”

Bin Laden also kept Zawahiri in the dark for years about al-Qaeda’s most important operation — the planning for the 9/11 attacks — cluing in his deputy only during the summer of 2001.

5. Bin Laden’s death is symbolically important but irrelevant to the war on terror.

Many commentators have asserted in the past week that the death of bin Laden won’t make much difference to the wider jihadist movement that he helped spawn. There is some truth to that, but balanced against this are the facts that al-Qaeda was bin Laden’s creation and he was the ultimate author of the 9/11 attacks. When new recruits joined al-Qaeda, they pledged a personal oath of religious allegiance to bin Laden, rather than to the organization. Similarly, when affiliated jihadist groups have attached themselves to al-Qaeda central, as al-Qaeda in Iraq did in 2004, their leaders pledge their fealty to bin Laden personally.

Bin Laden is one of the few men in recent decades who truly changed the history of the world. With him gone from the scene, there is no one of his stature and charisma to become not only the leader and strategic guide of al-Qaeda, but to inspire the group’s affiliates across the Middle East and North Africa and the wider jihadi movement around the globe. For that, we can all be grateful.
