Nothing was going to stop us from putting on the best Whispering Pines we could.

This was probably the most dynamic race day we have had from early pre-race morning to the final finisher. The entire tribe from runners, volunteers, medical professionals, and spectators showcased why I love this sport and our tribe!! We all had each others back (and sometimes quite literally).

Truly an emotional day to reflect on.

Thank you Hammer Nutrition, Nature Nate’s, Road ID, Tiger Tail USA (I saw them being used post-race and during the race!), Daniel our event EMT, Fuzzy’s Tacos in Tyler, Movin’ Pictures, Jellystone Park, Tyler Greenhaw (race weekend wingman) and fam, my wife Wendy (driving around picking up the tacos in Tyler and whatever else needed to be done), and all the folks at Tyler State Park.

BTW, Trail Garbage Report – While picking up all the course markings on Sunday, we maybe picked up a couple pieces that may have been related to our event. 162 starters running one, two, or three loops! Talked to a local mountain biker and he was impressed and thought we had already swept the course…nope, doing it now.

We are talking about the Whispering Pines Trail Run out at Tyler State Park.

We will have a 10 mile, 20 mile and 50 km dirt loving run under a shaded canopy of pines. Yeah, baby!

Some of you may recall the Rusty Crown from our Glen Rose, Texas adventure called Rough Creek. This race is a dirt-lovin’ experience for sure, but does included a three mile section of technical and steep, up and down running that is probably like nothing you have experienced before…or at least in north Texas. It will be a challenge.

The course has also been tweaked from last year with the addition of a non-technical running section I call “The Bowl” which includes some beautiful views of the area…and adds a few hills to climb and descend.

Race distances: Half marathon, marathon, and 40 mile
