<h3>Reviews</h3>

<p class="aw_review">Was initially impressed with this lawnmower. First three times I used it, everything went great. Cut the grass reasonably well, and the battery re-charged as advertised. Not anymore. Battery will not re-charge, and EarthWise Customer support doesn't particularly care. Called them, told them the problem I had and they promised to send me an invoice or something so that I could take it to a repair shop as it was still under warranty. Three weeks later, no invoice. Getting through to customer support is a bear. They do everything possible to keep you from actually talking to anyone who will offer any help. Round and round, transferred to this number, then to another number, then back to the first number. Be warned! If you want a reliable product this isn't it. If you want good customer service, they don't have it.</p>
<p class="aw_review">ASIN:B001DZJYJO Earthwise 60120 20-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Lawn Mower.
Well built, long-life battery holds charge through entire mowing cycle, charges quickly
and easily maneuvered around shrubs and borders. Reasonable priced with especially handy
heighth setting. Very effective even in wet or damp lawns.</p>
<p class="aw_review">I bought an Earthwise electric mower in desperation of finding a reasonably priced reasonably intelligent person to do my yard. I have an acre in Louisiana where you can watch the grass grow after a rain (really!!). I love this lawnmower. I have fibromyalgia and have no strength in my wrists/shoulders and could never get a gas mower started. This starts right up, no pulling strings and jerking your shoulders out of place. No oil getting into the gas, no mess..fabulous.
If the grass is very high and thick (as it does get here), this mower will have a bit of struggle going through it and the charge will diminish accordingly but all in all I can do a 1/2 acre on one charge. So I can do my backyard one day and the front/side the next day, recharging overnight. Not a big deal. It is a bit heavy but I can push it without struggling - again not the machine for a yard that's been neglected and overgrown but if you are keeping up with your grass, it will do fine and will be easy and clean to use. Basically I'm quite happy with it. Days of knee-high weeds and/or expensive indiscriminate grass-men (who run over my medicinal herbs!) is over!! That's worth the price right there.</p>
<p class="aw_review">We researched electric lawnmowers online before deciding to buy the Earthwise cordless. At first we were going to go for the corded model, but we are on a corner lot, with too many trees and flower beds to work around with a cord. I think we made the right decision!

First off, it's early days yet, and we've only used the mower twice but it's been great so far. We've used it in mulching mode, and it seems to do a good job of chopping everything up.

My recommendation to anyone buying one would be to read the instruction manual before you do anything - including taking the mower out of the box! It's easier to take the mower out if you first remove the battery pack, but it's not too obvious how you do that, which is where the manual comes in.

I was concerned that the charger is a a "dumb" charger - so if you leave it connected for a long period, it's possible to damage the battery pack by overcharging it. The charger does have a green LED that comes on to indicate that the battery is fully charged, however, so it seems fine to me.

Out of the box, it took 14 hours of charging before the green LED came on.

I mowed our yards at 06:00 in the morning, in semi-darkness, in order to avoid the LA heat - and the mower is quiet enough that it won't be a problem waking the neighbors. In fact mowing at that time with the LED's on the mower glowing, and the mower sounding like a large hair dryer, it felt quite spacey! No mess, no smell, of course, and it feels good not to be causing air pollution. Bear in mind that doing the yards with one badly adjusted gas mower can put out as much pollution as a regular car driving hundreds of miles!

It took me about 45 minutes to do our yards, and there were still 3 green LED's showing on the mower. The battery then took just 7 hours of charging before the green LED on the charger came on - so it seems to have plenty of capacity for our purposes. Realistically, I think you might get an hour of use between charges, since you wouldn't want to completely discharge the battery pack.

I have no worries about having to charge the battery every month during the Winter - we'll keep the battery pack and charger in the house, and will probably buy a cheap timer to preclude the possibility of us forgetting to disconnect the charger to prevent overcharging.

I'd read some reviews that said a wheel had fallen off - so I pulled off all the plastic hub caps and checked that all the split pins were secure - which they were. I think the obvious cause of a wheel coming off would be a split pin that hadn't been bent over, so maybe it's something worth checking.

Another review claimed that the wheels are attached to a piece of plastic only an eighth of an inch thick. Well that's certainly not the case on our unit - everything is metal, and looks up to the job. The wheels run on stout 1/2" steel stub axles, which are welded to 3/16" steel arms, which in turn are connected by 7/16" steel rods.

The single lever used to change the cutting height works really smoothly.

The mower feels a little bit heavier than the 22" gas mower it replaced, but it rolls better on the ball-bearing wheels than the old gas mower did. It actually weighs 87lbs, of which the battery pack is 32lbs. Fortunately, our yards are pretty flat.</p>
<p class="aw_review">Have used this mower 3-4 times a month for ~ 4 months. Ease of use is good. Mower mows OK; however, it will bog down in Bermuda grass. Charger works fine. Only real problem has been the rear safety flap going under the mower when pulling backwards. Flap needs to be re-designed.</p>

<h3>Reviews</h3>

<p class="aw_review">This is the worst money I have spent in a long time. The trimmer cannot handle trimming, the edger function does not edge, the battery lasted 10 minutes and then failed to recharge at all. Customer service told me to rewind the spools. Hello! One of the "great" features was that you didn't have to put string on any more! A refund was refused and they are sending me a new battery. Why? I still have to go behind it with my old gas trimmer and gas edger! Don't waste your money.</p>
<p class="aw_review">I am on my second battery. Charged it for 48 hours and just went out to try it again. Barely did 2 fence posts of light trimming before it died. Wait a few moments and you might get a 5 or 10 second burst but it is short lived. Purchased in June and have only been able to use it a few times. The customer service is abysmal. I have requested an RMA to send it back but am not expecting any kind of response. Caveat Emptor.</p>
<p class="aw_review">I purchased this worx trimmer after watching an informercial . The trimmer is not nearly as powerful as they portrayed and after charging the battery 3 times, it was completely DEAD!!!!!</p>
<p class="aw_review">Battery and Worx are worthless. No help! My unit is only 2 months old! Battery will not charge. It now over heats(blinking red light) so it won't continue to charge after 5 minutes in the charger. Can't get response from the Co. They have not helped others from what I have read. They must know about the negative commets and problems with the battery, and continue to advertise and sell them. Go to other on-line retailers and the "Q" tv retailer and read all those reviews as well. Everyone has the same thing to say.</p>
<p class="aw_review">I think this may be the most frustrating product that I've ever bought. In fact, I HATE it. I've owned this product for two years so I've gotten to know it well. I use it almost exclusively as an edger and it does a terrible job. My yard isn't that big but the battery can only last one of four sides of my yard before it dies. I have purchased a spare battery to help with this but it sucks that even with two I can't do the edge of my entire yard in one shot.

I think I could live with the battery woes but the thing that made me toss it to the ground moments ago was the terrible line that the Worx people send you. I'm not kidding when I tell you that I just spent nearly an entire spool of line on about 4 feet of lawn. Just standard freshly mowed lawn grass. Auto feed? HAHA!!! No No No. It doesn't auto feed very well, that feature is a joke but that's not the problem. The line BREAKS every 10- 30 seconds of use. So you have turn the dang thing over, remove the cap and spool, pull more line out and reseat the spool. Often the line is melted together in the spool and then a screw driver is need to separate the line in order to be able to feed it through the proper hole. I thought maybe I just had a bad batch of spools so I order another but have the same EXACT problem.

In fact, I was outside trying to use this product no more then 30 minutes ago and after tossing it down to the ground in frustration, decided to post my beef with this edger in hopes to save anyone I can the frustration of owning such an over-hyped piece of crap.
I honestly felt like I was on candid camera using it just a few minutes ago. I'd just get started and the line would break. Fix the line try again and a few seconds later the same thing. Repeat. repeat. It was like Worx was doing a social study to see how many times I would retry it before giving up. Or was it a cruel joke?

And besides the dismal battery and terrible line it doesn't really edge all that well. It just doesn't have the power to do a good clean job.

Please, if you've seen the over-hyped commercials about this product, don't believe them!!! Research other products, you'l be glad you did.</p>

<h3>Reviews</h3>

<p class="aw_review">I used the trimmer one time, put it on charge, and when I went to use it the second time, the battery would only last about 10 seconds. I emailed Worx, but no response. I finally reached them by phone and the lady said to charge and discharge it 6 times and the battery would hold a charge. After 6 over-night charges, the battery still failed.</p>
<p class="aw_review">The Trimmer is satisfactory, but the lithium battery does not last very long at all. The advertisement shows trimmer can go around football field twice, before a charge. You would have to be a track star to get that much satisfaction from the battery. The battery does charge in a couple of hrs., but it takes all day to get your trimming done.</p>
<p class="aw_review">I find this product handy and very useful... pitty that the battery dies very fast.....</p>
<p class="aw_review">The better battery charges in about 30 to 40 minutes. I choose to pay the additional price thinking it was better, however, it lost its power very quickly.
You no sooner get started trimming, then you have to re-charge the battery. I am
very glad I got the "quick charge" battery because it needs to be re-charged in about 25 to 30 minutes. The "slower charge" battery takes about 5 hours, needless to say it would take forever to do your trimming. It is on an average powerful enough to do the grass trimming, but with the one string it will not cut thicker grass. It is quiet, easy to handle, and light weight. I only wish that the "quick charge" battery would last long. As far as the TV advertisement (going around the football field, three times) "IT'S A JOKE" I guess I have to time myself when trimming.</p>
<p class="aw_review">The Trimmer worked fine for about 6 weeks, then the battery failed to keep a charge and I have not heard from the manufacturer, regarding any solution to the problem. Which makes the unit useless unless I want to purchase another battery for half the cost of the original product. Not very reliable in my opinion. Warranty and contact information would have been helpful before I made my decision on purchase.</p>

<p class="aw_description">This quiet, clean-running cordless tool is ideal for anyone who needs to clip tall, awkwardly-sited, or hard-to-reach hedges and shrubs. It effectively trims to a height of ten feet, thanks to two interlocking components that form an extended pole shape. The hardened, machined steel 18-inch cutting blade is exceptionally durable and features dual action to minimize vibration and increase user comfort. The 180-degree pivoting head adjusts to five different positions for hedges both high and low and effectively trims branches up to 7/16-inch in diameter. A powerful 18-volt NiCad battery provides 2400 revolutions per minute and runs the trimmer for up to 50 minutes between charges, as well as starting up effortlessly with the press of a trigger. (A locking switch enhances safety by preventing accidental starts.) Without a cumbersome electrical cord to drag around, even big jobs feel easier, and there are never any oil, gas, or tune-ups needed. The unit assembles and disassembles in seconds using locking collars to join the power end to the cutting head. A carry bag allows for easy transport and storage at home or to professional worksites. Also included are a battery charger and blade cover for increased storage safety. This trimmer is covered by a two-year warranty in addition to a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. It weighs just over eight pounds and measures 78 inches long when put together. --Mary Park</p>
<p class="aw_description">Designed for trimming shrubs and hedges with a height of 10 feet, this cordless electric pole hedge trimmer gets its power from one 18-volt NiCad battery (included, along with compatible charger) and helps you cut even hard-to-access pieces that most trimmers can't reach. The NPT318 features two interlocking sections that combine to create an extended pole measuring 78 inches, and a pre-hardened, machined steel, 18-inch, dual action cutting blade that won't create excessive vibration. There's also a 180-degree pivoting head that can be placed in five different positions to accommodate varying hedge sizes measuring up to 7/16-inch in diameter. To help you get more done in less time, the battery supplies 2,400 RPM and keeps the NPT318 going strong for up to 50 minutes on each charge. It also starts up with just a touch of the trigger, and a locking switch protects against unintended start-ups.</p>

<h3>Reviews</h3>

<p class="aw_review">Firstly I want to say that I have previously owned and used the Black and Decker trimmer that was the predecessor of this trimmer. So my review is based on how this model performs based on what it actually replaced.

Using this trimmer on the same bushes and the exact same hedges, it struggled, it took longer and it did not cut as well. Due to this the whole procedure of cutting became more tiring and laborious. The previous model was "corded" and worked very well indeed, but due to their infinite wisdom Black and Decker discontinued this model and replaced it with a cordless version. A few things may have saved this model from being a lemon. Also if you are going to re-invent a perfectly good working model, at the very, very least give it the same features that made the predecessor good...but they didn't !!

If you are going to make a cordless version at least give it a 24 volt battery not a 18 volt one. And make it last longer otherwise you are forced to invest another $45 in a back up battery so you can get the same job done as the cordless version was able to do.

The previous version has a telescopic feature that enabled you to shorten it from the 10 feet max to around 7 feet. This meant that you were not constantly waving a 10 foot pole around which is very tiring.

The previous version enabled you to "lock" the power on. This enabled you to use both hands to maneuver the trimmer and made it less tiring on your arms and "trigger" finger.

With the extra time it takes because it is under powered, plus the fact that it is always at max 10 feet in length, plus the fact that you have to constantly be holding the trigger "on" it makes it a very, very long and tiring afternoon.

Bottom line, unless you really want a cordless trimmer and you are only going to use it on very light projects, save your money and buy a gas powered trimmer, you'll be glad you did. And again to all those people that keep on saying in their reviews that if this does not do the job you want it to then you are using the "wrong" item. I base my review on the fact that I am using this trimmer on the exact same bushes and hedges as my previous Black and Decker trimmer.

<p class="aw_review">It is not long enough to trim the top of the hedge when pivoted at 60 degrees.</p>
<p class="aw_review">I am in my 70s and fairly fit, have a large garden. This hedger weighs about 8 or 9 pounds not too bad at all. but hangs out about 4-5 feet. I cut hedges of various types, privot, juniper etc. The hedger is long and therefore the weight is out about 4 feet, it helps to latch the switch on freeing up your grip. I generally cut for 30-40 minutes and take a break. The adjustable cutter angle is helpful but at 45 degrees throws off the balance somewhat. I am happy with this hedger, battery life is good, way beyond my 45 minutes of work and charging is no problem. I recommend this hedger if you are able to hold 8 pounds out 4 feet or so physically, otherwise get a norml lenght hedger and use a ladder or taller hedges..</p>
<p class="aw_review">I was so excited to get this. My hedges are about 10' high and 10' wide. I only need to trim them once or twice a year at the most so it didn't make since to spend the money on a comercial one. Then it came. It is heavy and flimsy. It did reach the center of the hedges that I could not reach with my regular hedge trimmers but, after about five minutes it started to smoke and smell and shut off. I let it cool down and tried it again and the same thing happened. I sent it back and am waiting for my refund.</p>
<p class="aw_review">I bought the Black and Decker NPT318 Cordless Pole Hedge Trimmer based on the reviews on Amazon. And I was pleasantly surprised. I have lots of tall bushes, so I needed an extended reach trimmer. My previous trimmer was the Remington Axcess trimmer with telescoping, tilting handle, AC powered. I finally stripped out the metal gear box trying to cut too large of branches, so time for a new one. Though I worked the Remington VERY hard for 3 years, I liked it, and it held up well (except for the plastic tilt release lever breaking off the first week), the Amazon reviews about it's plastic parts breaking were so bad that I thought maybe I got lucky and had received one of the few good ones. So I decided to look for a different trimmer.

First, I liked the fact that the B&D NPT318 was battery powered .... no more cords to cut and trip over! The battery life was excellent considering how hard this tool works (about an hour of start & stop trimming). And it does cut branches under 3/8" very well. The Remington cut up to 3/4", so the B&D is a compromise in this regard. It is light enough to give you good vertical reach without tiring you out. I even used it one-handed for some tall straight up stuff. But reaching out horizontally is a workout for the shoulder muscles! And the overall tool balance is not as nice as the Remington since the B&D pole does not telescope. This problem is compounded by the fact that the trigger switch cannot be locked in the "ON" position, so you must constantly hold the switch end of the tool, rather than locking the switch "ON" and grabbing the tool farther up the handle where it would be balanced. The B&D is easy to use if you are about 3 -4 feet from the bush, but it is difficult to use close in because you have to keep one hand way back behind you on the trigger. And, depending on your landscaping, or if you're on a ladder (yeah, I know but I don't own a cherry picker!), sometimes you just can't get far enough away from the bush. A telescoping handle would solve this problem! The easy-to-tilt power head helped somewhat in this situation. The motor end of the tool is light weight, so tilting the head does not cause balance problems. Lubricating the blades every hour or so with 30 weight motor oil reduces blade friction, extending the battery life and keeps the blades sharp. You'll also want an extra battery or two. The NPT318 comes with the standard 'cheapy' dumb charger that takes up to 9 hours to recharge a battery. I bought and recommend the B&D model BDFC240 smart charger ($30) which charges up 9.6V - 24V B&D batteries in under 2 hours.

Note to the B&D engineers: go with a 24V battery and increase the cut size to 5/8 or 3/4". Telescoping pole! "ON" lock for the trigger!

SUMMARY:
Pros:
-Battery powered
-Good run-time per battery
-Fairly light weight
-Good vertical reach up to 9 - 10'
-180 degree tilt head; easy to tilt
-Good balance when using vertically
-Cuts up to 3/8" very well

Cons:
-Gets heavy and tiring when reaching out horizontally
-No "ON" lock on switch; have to always hold it "ON"
-Difficult to use close in due to fixed pole length
-Pole does not telescope
-Only cuts up to 3/8" --- really!</p>

<h3>Reviews</h3>

<p class="aw_review">The Black & Decker hedger has met all my needs thus far. I bought this to replace my trusted pair of garden scissors and have had good luck this far.

As other reviewers have pointed out there hedger cannot really cut through 3/4 inch branches and that is why I did not give it the full 5 stars. The unit is very light weight and can easily be lifted with 1 hand. It was a little noisier than I had expected, but very effective at what it is meant to do.

The 18v battery lasts a good 25 minutes. The charger included with the packaging takes 15-18 hours for a full charge. In the packaging I found a promotional offer from Black & Decker to purchase a 1 hour quick charger frm bdchargeroffer. The 1 hour charger has made my life so much easier.

I bought the 18v hedger along with the 18v hard surface sweeper and am very happy with my purchases.</p>
<p class="aw_review">Black & Decker NHT518-1 18-Volt 22-Inch Cordless Electric Hedge Trimmer
I have purchased several of Black and Decker's 18v cordless shop and yard products, and this 22-inch cordless Hedge Trimmer is another HIT! I would recommend this to anyone who has bushes or hedges to trim. It is great for trimming where access to electricity is difficult or impossible. The trimmer does a wonderful, professional-looking job. The 18v battery comes with a charger, and one can trim fairly heavy / hefty bushes for about a half-hour on a battery's charge.</p>
<p class="aw_review">If you have the Black and Decker 18 volt family of battery powered products, then this is a fine addition. As a hedge trimmer, they are as powerful or more than most competitors. This unit is tough, light weight, and well balanced, with ergonomic attention to detail. I have had no problems with this or any other part of my family of B&D 18 volt rechargeables.</p>
<p class="aw_review">Black & Decker NHT518-1 18-Volt 22-Inch Cordless Electric Hedge Trimmer This unit has several outstanding features not readily apparent from the ad. Its utility is increased by the wider space between the teeth allowing it to cut larger shoots and the power of its motor allows it to make these cuts without jamming. The more obvious advantages are no power cord to accidentally cut or get caught on the hedge allowing a much shorter completion time. I would estimate that it took about 3/4 as long to do my front hedges as with my old corded hedge clipper - and I didn't need my hand clipper.
Finally, since I also have the B&D Aligator lopper and pole saw which use the same 18v battery, 3 batteries gives me maximum versatility.</p>
<p class="aw_review">This product is tops for my purposes. Plenty of power and battery time. It is easy to use and it sure is nice not fighting the electric cord.</p>

<h3>Reviews</h3>

<p class="aw_review">After my Black & Decker corded mower just stopped in my yard this summer, I needed a new mower and knew I didn't want to go back to gas. I got this mower and was able to set up and use it in one day. The set up was easy and the mower works much better (cuts more evenly) than the other one. This lower would be great for flat lawns. I have a fairly steep hill and count on getting a bit of a workout when I mow, because this mower weighs 72 pounds. The weight comes from the battery which is one easy to remove. But, you don't need to remove it because you can charge it while it is still in place. Also one lever allow you to change the height level of the mower.

Cons: As far as I can tell you can't tell what charge level is on the mower and you need to use a key to start the mower. It is heavy if you have a hill.

Pros: You don't need to remove the battery to charge and can leave the mower on the charger all of the time. Easy set-up. One lever to change the height.

I have used it just three times, and am extremely please so far</p>
<p class="aw_review">This lawn mower is very heavy and the wheels flatten the grass you're trying to cut. I have to go over my lawns twice to get an even cut; once from one direction and the second cut from the other direction. Definately not for new lawns.</p>
<p class="aw_review">About 16 years ago I bought one of the very early model Black & Decker battery powered lawn mowers. It was a very good mower with very few problems during it's life time. Two years ago I gave it to a relative to use because I decided to purchase a new mower. Unfortunately I did not buy another Black & Decker mower at that time. Over a two year period I had nothing but problems with the new mower. Very poor battery life, wire coming loose and shorting out the battery resulting in a battery terminal melting, two new batteries, etc. I finally gave up on it and purchased the new Black & Decker CM1936 battery powered electric mower. I have used it now for about a month and love it. It does an excellent job of cutting the grass, is easy to handle and is quieter than our vacuum cleaner. The lift-out battery feature is very simple to use and by storing it in a heated area during the winter should result in longer battery life. I am extremely pleased with this mower and can recommend it to others.</p>
<p class="aw_review">I bought this mower about two months ago and have used it about half a dozen times. I love it. I'll never go back to a gas mower. It is ready to go out of the box, cuts great, has good power (not as powerful as a gas mower but plenty strong enough to cut St. Augustine grass in the Florida summer; I haven't hit grass yet it doesn't cut clean) and runs quiet. I have a huge backyard -- probably close to 1/4 acre -- and I can cut the whole thing on one charge. You can't overcharge the battery; you just leave it plugged in the whole time you're not mowing. I bought a second battery but I've never had to use it. No gas; no oil; no maintenance; no smell; reduced noise; and a good cut. I'll only add one caveat: if you don't get a second battery and run out of power, it'll take a few hours to charge up to finish the job. Either get a second battery or (like me) or plan to take two days to cut. Also, you can't get this if you're the type who can't remember to charge the battery. Other than that, it's a great mower.</p>
<p class="aw_review">Bad: In any grass except mowed a few days before, you need to walk slow to not bog down the mower. The height adjustment does not work, but the only position that it will lock is right for me. The grass catcher will not work if the lawn clippings are too long. The battery is Ni-cad not NiMH so it will not last many seasons. It is a push mower so you get some exercise.

Good: It is environmentally good. No starting problems. B&D has finally after more than 50 years found out that there is a LED to let you know if it is plugged in. The charging system appears to be very good. It is a push mower so you get some exercise.</p>

<h3>Reviews</h3>

<p class="aw_review">As usual I did more research and analysis than a sane person should and read every review I could find (OCD)

First, who should not buy a corded (electric) mower. Those who think:
1. Managing a cord (read that running over it) will be a problem. They probably should also stay away from hedge trimmers.
2. Have rocks and stumps on their lawns that they cannot avoid.
3. Who cut their lawn when it is knee high and and think green weeds are grass.
4. Want to mow a wet lawn - and therefore don't care about their lawn anyways.
5. Who do not understand it is the (sharp) blade that cuts the grass and the power either AMP's or HP factually are of little importance.
6. Who actually think they will be saving significant amounts of money on gas, oil etc.
7. Think may think that an electric mower is too hard to push or move around the yard.
8. They need more than 45 minutes to mow the lawn.

If you fall into the above a gas powered lawn mower is likely a better choice and a self propelled may make sense, as wood a trip to the library and a brush up on math. BTW the new gas powered lawn mowers start very easily but are heavier than an electric but bluntly gas cost is trivial. Maintaing a gas mower does take some time and care every couple of years, but if you are considering an electric your lawn is likely on the smallish size and your mower does not see heavy duty. A person who is somewhat advanced in years should consider an electric mower but in all sincerity only for a small flat lawn.

I have a lawn tractor and a self propelled lawn mower, the latter after 10 years is near the end its useful life (only changed the spark plug twice and the air filter once BTW)

I use my lawn tractor for the back of the house, but take real pride in my front lawn looks and use my self propelled for that (OCD and using the walk behind mower twice a week is routine

I considered a cordless electric but since I plan on having the mower for several years I know that the battery will have to be replaced likely after 3 years. The average cost of a replacement battery is between $120 and $140, which does not make sense. Also for those who believe you will be saving on gas the cost of batteries would keep you in gas for over 10 years, (not kidding) e.g. 40 gallons of gas and for a lawn mower that is a lot. Also for the tree huggers who are helping to keep the planet green, those batteries have to go somewhere. The battery also adds about 35 lbs to push around and just to be complete, if it is cold where you live in the winter and the battery is not removable that will be a problem. Cold storage and batteries not being used is not good.

Given all the above I decided on a corded B&D I was lucky that a friend of mine had this mower that I could use for 2 weeks to kick the tires so to speak. The quality of the cut was excellent and since I mow high and often, the mower worked well bagging and mulching. I wish the cutting height was higher than 3 1/2 " but only the Torro electric offers that, which would cost almost double the price of the Black & Decker.

The B&D is well constructed, light weight and easy to use. The cord is a non issue and I am fully aware of the additional time it takes to unwind the chord, manage it while mowing and then reel it back in when I am done. The entire cord management process does add time and is a bit of pain and if time is a factor, then an corded mower is not for you, and I suspect neither is a corded weed trimer or leaf blower. If you even think that having a cord will be a problem, my advise is to get a gas mower. Just to be totally complete you will require at least a 50 ft extension cord that can deal with 12 amp's and a reel to help store the cord. A good cord will cost around $20 and having 2 makes sense.

The principle advantage of the corded mower is its light weight, not only easy to push (but again if you have hills or large slopes -get a self propelled). but to clean and sharpen or replace the blade!! You cannot get a good cut unless your blade is sharp and if you think about the razor you shave with, or the kitchen knives you cut with, the blade does the work. Keeping the mower clean is important for any mower to allow the blade to spin and keep the grass away from any engine. It bears repeating the blade on your mower is what does the work.

After 2 weeks of using the B&D corded electric I ordered my own, the 12 Amp model because it came with the bagger and the net difference became trivial. If I had a smallish front yard the 6.5 amp B&D would have been my choice.

I hope this has been helpful and that I have not offended anyone.</p>
<p class="aw_review">I've had cheap gas mowers that wouldn't start and very expensive gas mowers that wouldn't start. No matter how high the quality of the engine there was always something that needed tending to. A couple months ago I went out and bought yet another gas mower. Got it home, put it together, added oil, gassed it up and of course it wouldn't start. So I took it back and the garden center and the people there couldn't get it to start either. Fortunately they refunded my money and took the thing back. That evening I started researching electric mowers on the internet.

A rechargeable battery mower was quickly ruled out because I didn't want to replace a $150 manufacturer specific battery every two or three years. Most of the reviewers of corded mowers were in agreement that cord management was no big deal. My search took me to this compact, lightweight little B&D MM1800. I liked the way it folded up for storage in the pictures.

When it arrived, I rolled it out of the box and popped the handle on it. That's all you have to do. The one touch height setting really works! No more wrestling with each wheel on a heavy gas mower. The lawn was a little longer than usual since I'd been without a mower for month. It didn't matter, the little B&D munched right through it as good as any gasser I've ever owned. I even used it to clear out an overgrown utility easement on the side of my home. It never bogged down or hesitated one bit. The other users are correct when they say that cord management is no problem. I've used it with the bag and without. Both ways work great. Anyway, I've used it several times now since grass grows quickly in the South Florida rainy season and I can't begin to describe how cool it is to just flip this puppy upside down on the lawn to clean it up without worrying about gas and oil spilling all over the place. In fact there are lot's of reasons to celebrate not having to mess with gas mowers anymore.

No need for gasoline

No need to store volatile gasoline

No trips to the gas station or gas smells in the car

No pouring of gasoline into a tiny tank and the associated mess.

No stale gasoline issues

No need for gasoline stabilizer products

No elaborate preparation for off season storage

No gunking up or varnishing of fuel if not stored perfectly

No need for trip to repair shop to undo storage mistakes

No need for oil

No need to check oil level

No need to change oil

No need to tip mower upside down to drain oil

No need to siphon out gas before tipping upside down to drain oil

No fuel or oil leaks and drippage when mower is turned upside down to clean out the underside

No annual tune-up

No gapping or replacing of spark plugs

No cleaning of messy, oily air filters

No smelly exhaust fumes

No smelly garden shed

No noisy engine

No ear plugs or hearing protectors

No need to keep a usage log to time oil changes etc.

I'm very happy with my little orange monster and enjoy lawn mowing a lot more now that it's pretty much hassle free.
</p>
<p class="aw_review">I am very happy with this mower, it is light weight and easy to handle, takes up little storage space and has one touch height adjustment. Assembly was very easy, price was right and delivery was quick.</p>
<p class="aw_review">Shipping is FAST! with free shipping, Fedex delivered it on Saturday evening!

It's easy to set up, just follow up the instruction, I spent about 10 minutes to put everything together. Someone said the cord is an issue, I don't have any, just follow the instruction! Some tips: make sure the cord is long enough, I use 50' (sometimes add another 25'); move it slowly (since it's not as powerful as the gas mower); empty the bag often (you can feel by the sound); for some area not even, I just do another round, the finish is pretty good looking...</p>
<p class="aw_review">Bought this at home depot for $200, and used it about 8 times over 8 weeks. Reasonably easy to maneuver, cuts the grass decently, and cord management is not an issue as long as you remember the golden rule, which is to start from the area closest to the electrical outlet.</p>

<h3>Reviews</h3>

<p class="aw_review">Just got my receiver today, plugged everything and turned it on. At first, I was bit confused about setting it up and the remote controll, but after reading a bit from the manual I managed to set things up. After this I made a short sound check to see that everything worked and it did. Then I downloaded the update from Yamahas site and tried updating the receiver with PS3 Slim. Well for my suprice, receiver was already up to date. So now I wanted to test HD sounds and put Rambo IV in, and just wow, sound is great! Even I dont have the best speakers in the world, it still sounded a lot better than anything what I played before with my non-HD Sony receiver. After I had watched the movie I put radio on and just left it there. It has now been on for around 8 hours on row and every now and then when good song comes I turn volume up, but still its really hard to sence any heat over the receiver.
Ok, it has only been in use for a day but so far I have really nothing to complain. Everything is connected with HDMI so I didn't need the analog upconversing. Even 7.1 system seems to work ok, but I don't have really anything to test it with, all blue-ray's only have 5.1 I was thinking of getting some 7.1 test trak later but so far so good. For me the thing that last 2 speakers need to be active ones (to get 6.1 or 7.1) wasn't an issue since I took those from my bedroom tv. Maybe going to put those back to bedroom atleast for a while when I can get something that has 7.1 sounds.</p>
<p class="aw_review">I bought the 467 along with a new Samsung 58" plasma 3D TV and a new Samsung bd-c6900 3D blueray player. The Yamaha needs to have the firmware upgraded to play 3D, and the firmware upgrade was just released by Yamaha.
[[...]

But...I've spent a few hours trying to upgrade the firmware and I just can't find my way through Yamaha's convoluted firmware upgrade process. They have you copy a .wav file to a CD, and then play the CD through the optical input on the 467 while it's in update mode. But they warn of two pitfalls. First, they say "Conventional CD burning software is recommended. An audio CD burned by Windows Media Player may not work." I used itunes on a mac to burn the disc. That's the only CD burner I have.

Secondly, they warn that the process doesn't work with all CD playback devices. The warning on the Yamaha instructions says: "Some DVD players use digital filters, which affects the output signal of the devices. the firmware update will not work with DVD players which use these digital filters. CD players usually do not use these filters, so using a CD player is preferred."

I have tried my new samsung DVD player, my 6-month old Sony blueray DVD player, and a 10-year old panasonic CD-only player. I'm pretty sure the panny can't deal with the CD-R disc. The two DVD players appeared to be playing it fine. but in both cases, the Yamaha couldn't interpret what it was being fed. I can't fathom how an average consumer would find their way through this maze...

Can anyone help?</p>
<p class="aw_review">I was using a JVC RX 888. It put out great sounds but it was pre HDMI. The Yamaha, has several HDMI slots and I now run my Blu ray and TV through it. It took a little while to figure things out but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple. After using it the first evening, I turned it on the next day expecting to hear great sound only to have no sound. The only thing I did the night before was turn it off. After worrying with it and searching the CD manual for a couple of hours I finally noticed the sound was at it's lowest level. Apparently it defaults to this position. Once I turned the sound up it was great. I went into the setup menu and changed the minimum level to where you could hear it when turned on. Don't forget to do this!

One thing I don't really care about is the manual on CD. It's just time consuming trying to read thru it and look things up. I prefer paper, but expect this is the future. I really like the speaker check system. Simple and fast.

If you don't want to spend a bundle but want a good receiver this could be the one for you. I'm very satisfied.</p>
<p class="aw_review">I bought this receiver based on other reviews of Yamaha receivers. I chose this over Samsung's current 5.1 and 7.1 receiver, because the Samsung units had lackluster reviews. I was curious about the Samsung receiver line because our television is a Samsung LED.

I'm thrilled with the RX-V467. First, the quality is topnotch, which is something you can always expect from Yamaha gear. It's solidly built and feels that way. There's a huge heatsink inside, visible through the top vent. Second, it's feature-rich and surprisingly easy to operate given all the options at hand.

I bought Polk Audio's SurroundBar and Polk Audio's PSW10 Subwoofer for this unit: What fantastic sound when you merge these items! For Blu-ray--also based on user ratings--I purchased the Sony BDP-360, and it works great with the Yamaha RX-V467 via HDMI-CEC.

My Samsung UN55C6500 LED LCD television works great with this receiver. I'm even able to get some HDMI-CEC functionality between the receiver, TV, and Sony Blu-ray.

The remote control looks scary at first, but once I stared into it for a few seconds, I realized the forethought that went into it. I was able to set most functions in the receiver without cracking the manual. If you've used a receiver before, you'll likely find this unit and remote easy to operate. The remote can be programmed to operate other components in your HES.

The auto calibration microphone starts the process when you plug it in. A few remote clicks and you're done. Had to set the speaker size back to Large for the SurroundBar, however, as this is what Polk Audio recommends.

I love that you can name the inputs of the unit based on what you plug in; this makes it easy to see what AV input you've selected.

I've only scratched the surface. This unit has plenty of features to keep you busy if you like that kind of stuff.

This receiver is $329 on Amazon and other places; great deal!!!!

Downsides:

My Pace HD cable box (Time Warner) did not work well via HDMI cable, but I'm not sure if this was the fault of the Pace, the receiver, or the television (or some combination). Sound and picture would blink or stutter on-and-off for about 30 seconds with each channel change (changed via the cable box). That was just unacceptable, so I went to Component and TOSLINK cables for the Pace without issue. HD cable sounds and looks great now, without "blinking," using these cable selections connected to the receiver. This unfortunately means I have both Component and HDMI cables connected to the TV.

Does not include an iPhone or iPod dock like the Samsung. The new iPhone/iPod dock should be available within the next month or so, but you'll have to buy that as an option. Starting retail price to be $99. The receiver does have a mini-plug on the front to connect your mp3 device right away, however. There is currently an iPod-only dock available for the unit ($40-$70 online); I understand it has some iPhone compatibility, but I'm waiting for the new dock.

This unit offers ZERO conversion options. In other words, it will not up-convert or down-convert one format to another (e.g., Composite to Component, Component to HDMI, etc.). Most of the reviews I've read on units from other manufacturers that do offer conversion options have been poor, which leads me to believe that it's the conversion process itself that sucks--not the receivers. No idea if the unit will do the conversion for the iPhone dock...hope it does.

Conclusion:

I recommend this receiver. As with all things, better units are available for MORE money; this unit delivers for the amount paid. If you're like me (moderate audio junkie) and need a unit for a medium-sized room (5.1 surround), I think you'll like this receiver. If you fancy yourself an audiophile and like to buy expensive audio and video cables because you think it helps, buy something more expensive.</p>
<p class="aw_review">well, i went against all better judgement in purchasing a "new" receiver like this. had it pre-ordered. there are always issues right?

ill say this, its a great receiver at the price. always loved yamaha's. the issue is when using a blu ray player at 1080p/60fps. it hiccups audio/video every few seconds. bypass the receiver and all is well. if i set the blu ray to stream 1080p/24fps, all is well again.

but to have a receiver not be able to do what it says it can, well its broken imo. yamaha had ZERO interest in helping or even listening. "its new and there wont be firmware for months" was the best i got.

sending back to amazon</p>

<h3>Reviews</h3>

<p class="aw_review">My overall satisfaction is high praise. It blows away the standard television speaker sound. I have two other surround sound systems where we watch movies in the house but this was purchased in order to amplify and clarify the standard TV sound. It does a great job at that after you are able to sync the visual speech on TV with that of the actual sound. The only flaw in the system is the lack of bass. All my other surround sound systems can rumble the room and the house. This just ups the bass ever so slighly. If you want a movie surround sound feel then this system is not for you. If you want to watch TV and movies with more clarity and feel but you don't want to let your neighbors hear, than purchase this system.</p>
<p class="aw_review">cannot go wrong for the price.
we have it in an area where we cannot afford to waste any space. we did not need surround, just more volume. this is great for what we paid.</p>
<p class="aw_review">Didn't sound like surround. Sounded like other reviews about sounding like it was coming from a cave. Save your money and buy a true surround sound.</p>
<p class="aw_review">Our Samsung flat-panel fit nicely into a corner - but that caused its internal speakers to play directly into the wall on either side, leading to bad sound quality. The sound bar projects the mid- and high-range sounds (aka: voices) to the front, so they are clear and audible across the entire room. The woofer fits behind the TV in the corner, so it provides bass boost without being visible. With the optical link in place the unit turns on and takes volume control from the TV remote, and also turns off a few minutes after the TV. In all a great purchase that really solved our "what did he say?" problem when watching.</p>
<p class="aw_review">Yes, it sounds very good and setup was easy (1 star for that), and I think it is a significant improvement in sound quality - that is the good part. The bad part is the integration and that stupid "Not Available" error message. My brand new Samsung PN5007000 (50" 3D Plasma) syncs perfectly with my brand new Blu-Ray 3D player BD-C5900. One volume control (TV or DVD) controls the sound without any issues - I even have my Dish Network remote programmed to work the Samsung TV volume and that works great. When you setup the sound bar, and select "external speakers" which you have to do to make it work, any volume change with the Samsung TV or DVD remote gets the "Not Available" message - but the sound still adjusts up or down with either remote. I've called 800-samsung twice - they say it isn't supposed to work and have no answer on how to fix it. I have to call second level support on Monday. Both DVD player and TV have the current firmware. I am not buying a Logitech Harmony remote at my expense to solve this problem - they just need to engineer their software better. I do not want to have a separate remote to just control sound - that is a pain - until this soundbar came into the picture, one remote did everything. Either the soundbar or the entire TV and Blu-Ray are going back - I haven't decided.</p>
