They said money is man's best friend, Chocolate is a girl's best friend. Me? Dessert of course!

I tried various of desserts ranging from ice-creams, cakes, sorbets, crepe, chocolate, fruits, puff etc. So when I know there is a new fruit tart shop open in town, 2 days a go which is 21th Dec 2011, I was getting so excited. Too bad, I am out of town, else I might gained 3 kgs due to the food indulgence I have there~ LOL

This new fruit tart shop is called Karafuru, which is the pronunciation of "colorful" in Japanese.

Next, a wild, pack, alcoholic after party at Zouk.

To top things up, a chill out session in View bar, G-tower on the next night. My 1st attempt of Kronenbourg and View bar as well ^_^

My Penang diary 11: Berlin's Bier Houz

Berlin's Bier Houz in Straits Quay.
Do you remember I introduce Straits Quay before?

Just a recap:

Straits Quay is a beautiful vibrant place at day.

At night, it turn to be a mysterious hang out place by the sea, where you can see people chilling, drink, strolling with the company of salty winds.

I would wanna sit out side the bar for a nice, windy sea breeze, but it was full. So, we have no choice but to sit in the bar. It was not too bad, but I still prefer the sea-side scenery.

Probably due to 2 major event in Penang on the earlier of the evening, Straits Quay was packed, so is Berlin Bier Houz.

We share the liquor. Since I am not very good alcohol resistance, so I ordered half pint of cider.
I am very sorry that I forgot the name, but I have to say that the apple cider taste sour sweet with a bitter after taste. Not really how I like my cider would be, but the taste is still very complimented.

As for the guys, they ordered half pint of Franziskaner Weissbier (also known as white beer or wheat beer)
It does not have so much of malt taste like your usual Carlsberg. Surprisingly, it has very smooth after taste which I love.

I was driving a lone from Kulim that night and I wouldn't want to risk my life by drinking too much, so I had some snack with the cider. I ordered meat balls. Very well marinated and chewy (tendons). Probably because I was hungry too ^__^

So, this post indicated my last post of My Penang diary at the moment. So far, I have no solid plan to go back Penang in the near future for career development, but for vacations, I think I can go back Penang once in a while since I really like this place a lot.

Next will be another historical city travel diary. Are you excited? Me too XD

Looking at this makes me realise I am a really slow blogger >.< I have come back from intership, took a 1 month holiday and passed the midtern break of a new sem, yet I haven't finish blogging about Penang. Well, what can I say, Penang is such a lovely place ^__^ that I can't finish talking about it #lameexcuses

Isaac and Henry picking up some "loh bak", 卤肉 from a random store.
Loh Bak is a traditional Nyonya food which is made by lean marinated pork meat, wrapped in bean curd skin then deep fry. It's very common both in Penang and also Melaka.

Don't cheat! I know you are drolling for the "loh bak"

Before I try Penang Char Kuay Teow, I really don't like the exaggerated that every Char Kuay Teow in K.L is . Once I try, I really fall in love for it. I like spicy food a lot, so I like the spicy char Kuey Teow(front) over the non spicy(back) one.

Pasembur. Thanks to my visit to Penang, I finally know how to differentiate "cucur udang" and pasembur.

What we tried was just a small portion of what New World park can offer you.

From my dining experience in Penang, what ever sh!t as long as local food that you dine in Penang, no matter where is it, the quality will never be lower than average. But if you still don't trust my experience, I would still encourage you to New world park, which is just stone throw distance from Tune Hotel.

Xi Bei Pai, The Melakan (Malaccan) Vegetarian Steamboat food review

If you are not my classmate, you probably don't know that I am a vegetarian back in Melaka. Althought I do lots of food review which more of 'em are non vegan food or some are even non halal.

Most of you that come to Melaka are for the food. Top of the list would be Satay celup. One of the famous satay celup located in Jalan Ong Kim.
Most of the time, we don't travel alone, but how if someone in our travel group is vegetarian? That would be some awkward~

However, finding a vegeterian shop in Melaka is not hard, even if are not a full time pure vegetarian, Malaccan(Melakan) have habits to dine in Vegetarian restaurant once in a while.

So, now I am introducing a new restaurant, probably not the best the Melaka but provide convenient vegetarian meal to tourist.

There are quite an amount of Taiwanese snacks selling here, but thats not my point~
See the 2 big plates on the right?(as in the opposite of left, not asking you questions~)
There are 2 sets of steamboat that you can pick of, which is vegetarian steamboat and seafood steamboat, both RM13.90.
On top of that, you can choose any of the 6 soup bases, excluding vegetarian which only 2 of the soup base is vegan~

Interior

This is not my 1st time in the restaurant, but this is the 1st time I see

a "handsome" waiter that sit down to take our orders! Pretty cool... I never see a restaurant like THAT before!

I order original bubble milk tea while my housiemie ordered yam bubble milk tea.

Apple juice with something (Roselle? Hubby can't even tell me what she order after she ordered =.=)

Since, it's vegetarian, no shabu-shabu =(

Vegetarian fish ball

Vegetarian seafood toufu (海鲜豆腐),

Vegetarian squid ball and fuhzhu(腐竹),

Vegetarian cha siu (叉烧) with vermicelli(米粉)

Vegetarian ...blah... whatever it is...it's vegetarian, what will you expect anyway =.=

At the end of the day, I learn something important:

Appearance is important, if you don't those food aren't going to look as delicious as it is now! XD

Overall: 5/10 (I don't know why I blog about this, I don't recommend this place. Just another options for the vegetarian....)

Taste bud indulgence: 5/10 (Not really good vegetarian food, I can easily find better in Melaka.)

Purse saver: 6/10 (If in K.L, this price will be cheap, but a vegetarian steamboat in Melak? Neh....)

Atmosphere: 6/10 (Modern orient style. Very cold inside... I can't imagine myself if I wren't ordering steamboat~ )

Hennessy Artistry 2011, MIECC

This event is pretty celebrate-able, except it was 2 weeks ago ^__^||||
I am admire by my own blogging speed.

Although it was a massive crowd at the MIECC that night, we bloggers

are more please to be invited as
VIP and placed in P zone.

But I wonder, who else is place in P zone other than blogger? The congested section makes to hard to believe there are actually so much bloggers (non muslim 1) around K.L area? Wow.... I never see 90% of their face before~

I am not into all these kind of drinking, dancing and partying stuff, so I just go infront to watch the performance while accompany my dear on his shooting(some photos are credited to deary).

After the hall has been heated up by DJ Reeve (the winner of Astro Spin Master Challenge 1),
Pak Jun Ming(朴政珉 or 박정민) was the 1st artist that perform for the night.

Although there were damn alot girls that scream for this prince,

I have no idea who he is ^___^||||

Next would be the ONLY artist I know, which is Landy Wen(溫嵐).
Landy didn't only sing

My Penang Diary 10: Ichiban Ramen Aeon Seberang Prai City Shopping Center

I visited this Ramen shop when I was still doing my internship in Northen Malaysia.
I still remember I had a meeting on the Penang Island in the afternoon and have to drive back to the mainland to this mall after work then stuck in a massive jam just to attend a movie gathering with my housemates.
One of the reason I didn't blog about this shop ASAP is because I don't really like the food here except their gyoza.

Ichiban Ramen Interior

Like most restaurant, there is dinner set available. The set came with a main dish, a plate of gyoza, green tea and a plate of fruit.

My housemate choose the Donbori

While I choose the Chasu Ramen.
Don't let the color cheat you, the soup is not spicy at all.
Frankly, I don't like the noodles because it is too soft, not smooth, easy to break but not a pleasing texture. Wan Ten Mee sized noodle but the taste is big in difference.
The Chasu is lean meat. By looking at the meat, I thought it's not important not to have any joice on my meat as long as the skin is crisp. but it doesn't happen too =(
The soup isn't good in any particular way, but still drinkable, just that no distinguish flavor.

The qyoza is still ok, ok.
The skin is soft and slightly burn on the outer part. A perfect skin with some mediocre fillings. The meat was well marinated with soup but since it is not fresh, the meat is very scatted instead of a compact filling. At least the skin is right and the vineger is there.

Fruit

Since it was a meal I had long time ago. If I was not mistaken, the meal cost me RM20++ which I think is quite expensive in that location and with that quality.

Overall: 5/10 (I don't usually blog places that I don't like but since I have use some time in Photoshop the photo, just thought that I don't wanna waste it XP)

Taste bud indulgence: 5/10 (I can be consider to be Japanese but the taste? *shake head*)

Purse saver: 5/10 (Not particular cheap but it's just ok ok since it located in a Mall)

Atmosphere: 5/10 (Very Japanish decoration with short table around the shop which you can hide your feet in it)

Although the name as a cafe, but I think their high light is their cos-play waiter and waitress which dress in maid and butler.

Since this is a food review, let me just start with the food here. Tenshi no Cafe served medorn Japanese street food.You might not recognize the food as very "Japanese-ish" but this is what Japanese like to eat although it's not their tradition. For example: spaghetti and curry.

When you come dine in Tenshi no Cafe, they are some rules that you should abide to, which I think is partially to protect their staff's privacy and to avoid any kind of potential harassment.

Before I start my long food review, let me just have a sip of my drink, the chocolate milk shake.

*slurp* ah~ more milk please?

There are few series of main dish avalable:

(1) Charaben,キャラ弁 short form of character Bento,キャラクター弁当

Bento is single portion takeout or home-made meal common in Japanese cuisine. Originally, Charaben was made/design by the home makers to interest their children in their food and encourage them to consume wider range of food. In Tenshi no Cafe, every week day have different charaben. I came for the food review on Tuesday, so we were served:

Kawaii Bento - Squirrel Haven (RM16.90)

and

Kawaii Bento - Snow Day (RM16.90)

I didn't try the bento, but according to other food reviewer that came along, they comment that the spaghetti has no taste and the Bento is too small. I have to agree with them about the sizes. Even for a girl, the portion is actually quite little. THe maid, explains to us that, if they do it on a larger portion, then the bento wouldn't be cute and the decoration wouldn't be nice. But I hope they at least should design 2 sizes for the bento and redesign the decoration if needed. (please? it is so freaking nice to have a cute bento if it is in larger portion =()

(2) Japanese Curry, カレー

Most people doesn't aware that Japanese curry do not directly bought in by India or Indian. During mei-ji era, where the Japanese Emperor adapting technologies from out side, curry was brought in by the British, hence the mild and non spicy flavor. Tenshi no cafe serve 3 kind of curry rice, ehich is:

Katsu Curry Rice (RM19.90)

Mango curry rice ((RM16.90)

and Ebi curry rice (no illustration)

We were serve 2 of the dishes above. I had the Katsu curry rice. Pardon me that I do not know what Katsu here means. The curry was not spicy, but rich in spices and have a mild sweet taste. The veges in the curry was well cook, soft but not mashed (my mom always over cook curry dishes until all the veges soften and mashed~) The rice is a bit dry but it's in the acceptable range since it will some how dip with curry gravy, so no big deal. My Katsu Curry rice topping includes deep fry chicken breast and sweet cherry. The meat was not marinated and over fried, totally dry and hard to chew, not to mention the swallow process @~@. And the cheery is the worst. I personally don't like preserved sweet cheey, I think they taste like medicine. Although I like black forest cakes, but I never appreciate the preserved cherries. Fresh cherry is ok, but preserved 1? Nah... they shouldn't have exist in the 1st place (prove me wrong by sponsoring me more kick ass nice preserve cheery wouldn't you?)

(3) Rice (Japanese Fry Rice)

There are 5 types of rice dish serve in Tenshi no Cafe at the moment. 2 of the dishes served to us was:

Japanese Omurice (RM16.90)

(the mayo-tomato sauces writing can be personalize)

Salmon Fish Ball served with Japanese Fried Rice (RM16.90)

I don't understand why their fry rice is generally name Japanese fry rice. If you go to Malay store order "Nase Goreng Cina" (Chinese Fry Rice) they will give you a plate of fry rice full of veges, little meat and not spicy (Chinese discrimination of eating lots of veges and don't like spicy). It is ok to generalize a Chinese food in non Chinese restaurant, but you are generalize a Japanese food in Japanese restaurant? That is not so professional =(

(4) Donburi,どんぶり (丼)

Donburi also known as Don, is a Japanese rice bowl dish, which has meat or vegies topping usually comes with eggs. Tenshi no cafe offers 4 types of donburi:

Una Toji Don (RM21.90)

Teriyaki Don (RM19.90)

Chicken Katsu Don (not illustrated) and Ebi Toji Don (not illustrated)

These Donburi sure looks delicious, too bad, no chance to try it =(

(5) Spaghetti, スパゲティー

ya ya, didn't expect an Italian food to be serve in Japanese restaurant? Like I said, Japanese are readily accepting the outside technology especially during Mei-ji era. Spaghetti is one of the food that they accept, alter and adapted.Tenshi no cafe serves 3 type of Spaghetti with 3 different sauces.

all these spaghetti come with 3 choice of sauces, which is black pepper sauce, sweet and source source and also white sauce.

While for the dessert, Tenshi no cafe offers us either ice floss or ice creams.

I choose Peach Ice Floss.

I was so amazed by the sweet and slightly sour after taste ice floss. Apparently, they made the ice flass from juices cube!

OMGEEE~ *haven*

I also tried my partner's Durian Ice Floss. IT IS DA BOMB!

It is quite surprise to know that they can actually induce the durian flavor into the ice floss although I already know it form my portion of peach ice floss. And wtf~ how they made the extract the durian flesh? It's so d@mn nice weh....

To wrap up:
Overall, I don't find the food here attractive. However, I would give them credit on the ambient, decorations, cos-play waiter and waitress and the concept of such restaurant (which originally come/inspired from Japan). Other than a cafe, they also host various events. The latest promotion would be the membership card, Cosplayer concession(daily) and Princess Concession (Every Wednesday).

Tower Heist Movie Review

Suppose to Watch it last Sunday in Melaka with deary but Sisi got jealous and did odds on us. So I have to postpone the plan and left her in Melaka to calm her down and let the mechanic have her fix LOL.

At last, I went to the movie last Tuesday with deary as promised.

Looking at the cast, you will go WOW!

Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy?

These old comedian aren't let you go out from the cinema without a great laugh.

Too bad, their trailer isn't as good as the movie.

But I like the way they strike with least expectations XD

From planning the robbery

to the great execution, no boring scenes.

But my attention is still on this cute girl:

Gabourey Sidibe as Odessa Montero. I wish to see her more in the future, she might just be the next female Eddie!

Overall: 9.5/10 (A movie that can release stress and give a smile on your face ^__^)

3D/CG effect: 5/10 (Not much effect, just ok ok, but we don't buy ticket for its effects.)

Story: 9.5/10 (A good but expected story line with some sparks here and there.)

Cast: 10/10 (With the hallmark comedian Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy, the movie will never go wrong =))

Immortals Movie Review

In accordance with ancient laws, the gods are unable to take a side in the war between Hyperion and humanity. It is left to Theseus (Henry Cavill), who was chosen by Zeus (Luke Evans) and accompanied by the priestessPhaedra (Freida Pinto) and a thief named Stavros (Stephen Dorff), to protect his homeland and save the gods.

Frankly, I think the story is very interesting but the director and scriptwriter did not make full use of the advantage of the legend and myth to attract the viewer's mind. There are many question marks on my head on what had happen and why can it happen? The suspended ending is good, but the overall story telling is just mediocre. There are many occasion in the movie that is non tally with what we have understand about the myth.

However, I have to give credit to the post-production group of making such an excellent matte painting. The layering and transitioning was GREAT! Too bad, I can't find the said photo in the internet, you have to go to the cinema and watch it yourself! ^__^

Be prepare for the "potong steam" by the trimmed version in Malaysia's cinema =(

Overall: 9/10 (Although I didn't praise much on this movie but it's a really good 1, just that I gave too much of expectations)

3D/CG effect: 10/10 (Great post-production and matte painting. Have not see such quality in a while after Avatar.)

Story: 8/10 (Very expected story line, but some detail is not as straight forward as you assume it to be)

Cast: 8/10 (Frankly, I know none of them but the producer did make some effort to find the suitable person)

My Happiest Moment

Do you ever had a happy moment that is so memorable that you feel like you want to seal and preserve it ~~in the fridge~~ but you just missed that split second?
why could I possibly know?
Coz I face this dilemma ALL THE TIME!

Beeing a girl isn't easy, we have to groom ourselves, dress nicely, talk politely, carry ourself gracefully in any kind of occasion and the list go on and on.... And for our bag, it probably stuffed with 50 pairs of fake lashes in case of emergency, not to mention that 97344326 different colors lip tics and 43598234 colors eye shadow that should be all bring out during EVERY occasion.

Well, I may have exaggerated on the last 2 lines but which girl is willing to carry a dumb bell like DSLR every where? The most is that girls bring along their compact camera that give them shitty kind of pictures especially under low light condition which is super noisy >.< ( I mean image noise, I am no photo noob =.=) so that they don't over stuff their bag and later hurt their arm and shoulder due to carrying it?

The definition of happy photography should be a carefree, pressure-less experience where only a click of the shutter that *puff* a picture is taken. I am not degrading or discriminating girls can't take photo well. In fact, I know a few girls that can take very nice photo (and you are looking at one of their blog now XP). They are great in controlling, name it shutter speed, ISO, aperture, lightning, manual focus etc, But the questions is, how many of us can really manage to tweak the setting on the camera before the split second gone?

That's is why M 4/3 is so popular recently. This mirror-less camera may not have the exact out come like DSLR, but it is far better than compact result with just a compact size and weight of camera.

So, my happiest moment would be a carefree time spend with friends and being myself, or just being plan stupid for a laughter that will mark as memory when we grow older. When the camera is taken out, only a few button is need to mark the moment instead of waiting for the photographer to tweak the setting and everybody post for it.

That would be my happiest moment with my happy photography experience.

My Nuffnang Story

Hey, how ya doing? ^__^ I can't stop a grin on my face when every time I talk about Nuffnang.
I don't exactly remember when did I joined Nuffnang, but it is definitely a long way during these 2-3 years time. I first found out Nuffnang on some famous blogger's blog advertisement section. I was already blogging that time but I was "humble" enough to think that I am not eligible to join since I have so little visitors and I was only blogging about private stuff. So I share it to my closer friends that have higher visit, maybe they can earn some pennies from there.Later, the friend pulls me in to Nuffnang too, explaining the benefit to me. My 1st event/competition/ticket I won from Nuffnang was a pair of Urbanscape passes, and later more to come.

I didn't expect Nuffnang is not only a advertising company but also a community that gathers bloggers for fun activities such movie screening, outing, event, launching food sharing etc etc....Well, I can't deny that most bloggers that join Nuffnang for the penny (caching on the end of every month yo!). I don't judge yourguys on that but Nuffnang is so much more than just money. It's a community that bring you friends, opportunity, knowledge, fun, excitement, prices and food~~~~

No point to just keep lecturing or preaching, let me show (more like show off) you how my Nuffnang journey was so far.

Recently, before my semester starts, I attending some food related event (LOL Imma food blogger, food always comes 1st, unless I finally decided to diet which fails 193484 times already). One of my favorite would be the Digi Buka Puasa event by Digi and Nuffnang at The Bee, Jaya One.

Not only we are served with yummylicious foods and treats(say YAY to desserts!)

we are also given chance to interact with each other.

The best part, I won (cough) a review opportunity of HTC Sensation for 2 weeks (only).

The next best thing I had never imagine in my life is to dine in my 1st Malay fine dining restaurant (to be honest, my 1st fine dining experience ever >.<), Enak Kuala Lumpur, Starhill Galery.

Although we were not totally for that fine dining thing with all the rules and unnecessary b*ll sh*t stuff but some casual buffet dinner, I was totally a happy girl that night.

Made a few friend, entertain by the games, learn some new tech stuff etc. Thanks to Samsung for the Samsung Buka Puasa Event ^__^

All these didn't happen because I am popular which I am really not. Those event that I got invited dated back to the days when I was still shy and new to Nuffnang. Note that the photo size was smaller to fitted on my previous blog layout and the watermark,Y^2 was different too. That's how you tell how old my blog's age is >.<

This was my 1st food sharing session with Nuffies and blogger in Frames Cafe, Sunway Pyramid.

The best part of the night wasn't on food some how... Well, the quality of the food was uneven though that got some very good side dish indeed XD. The food sharing session was mainly on making friends getting to know them better especially some celebrity blogger like Cheesie, Xiaxue (Wendy), Audrey and Cindy.

Put aside my favorite thing in this whole wide world, Nuffnang also arrange some interesting events. One of the most luxurious event I ever attended was Digi Done Right camp.

Sponsored by Digi and conducted by U2Kumar, the most expensive part wasn't the 5 meals perday or the accomodation but the instructor itself.

I was told that, U2Kumar course cost RM8k per person.
Man, are you serious? Even if we were doing the compact, intensified short course, if we were charged half the price, it is still lotsss of money >.<

During these movie screening, I meet up some friends and had lovely pre-event meals together to interact with them. By watching these premier movie screening before the cinema is showing, I actually get the write the movie review earlier than other people and would get a high hits due to it because nobody knows about the movie yet.

Like I mention earlier, most blogger enroll in Nuffnang just because of money. This mentality makes them miss more things that they ever know, like friendship, cool events, food, movies, and even prices!

My Penang Diary 8: Penang Traditional Cendol at Lebuh Keng Kwee

I always thought only Melaka has the best Cendol but I think many people will deny. I know Melaka and Singapore has Peranakan but I didn't Penang has it too!

During my intership in Kulim, I travel to Penang very frequently. The main reason of course it's because of my job. The 2nd reason is the food + hang out with friends ^.^

Located at Lebuh Keng Kwee, it is actually an alley that is quite confusing @.@

When you drive to the one way main road at Jalan Penang, you will see this road sign above. But Lebuh Keng Kwee isn't the pedestrian walk way >.< you have to turn left to go into the alley.

Once you turn in, you will see this:

I don't know how famous or how good is it but apparently, even the famous Phua Chu Kang (Grumit Singh) and Rosie (Irene Ang) have visited this stall too..
According to my friends that take me here, she said this stall has some history in Jalan Penang. One of the most traditional Cendul in Penang.

My Penang Diary 5: Straits Quay

I once said/tweet: If I have to recommend some place in Penang, it must be Straits Quay." Oh God, I missed this place a lot! I have visited Starits Quay for a few time and each time gives me different memory.

Behind the mall, it's a Ford where you can see clear sky at day time

and romantic night view when sun sets.

Th building has a very strong Victorian architectural characteristics.

But along the ford, the canopy give you illusion as in you are strolling on the sandy beach.

At night time, it's a different story. Bar and lounge along the sea side become a chilling place.

The leisure atmosphere is nothing compare to the busy town.

Ysquare Photoblog 22: I Missed Penang already~

This is one my my dinner I had in Penang Island when I was having my internship there 3 months ago. The Set consist of Dory fish, Mash potato, spaghetti and salad. If I am not mistaken, it was only RM6.90. Although the fish isn't awesome, but RM6.90! You could never get this set in spaghetti set in any other placecs!

Fry Chicken Nuggets. RM10 for 8 Chicken Nuggets chunks + Chili sause.

Wasn't too good as well, but I can never find such cheap but decent food around K.L or Melaka already.

Penang is emerging to be one of the high living standard town in Malaysia due to fast development. However, Penang still remains warm, hospitallity and humanity in their culture. If K.L don't want me after I grad, I think Penang is another very good starting point =)

Sorry that I have not posting anything for the past week. It wasn't my intention. I was not THAT busy till I can't update but just that my laptop was hacked and I have to get my laptop fix before I can proceed to anything else.
