SMK KIJAL GONE ASEAN II

Success is often the result of patience, passion and hardwork. It all started on June 10^th 2008 when Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kijal in Kemaman Terengganu was chosen to participate in the Maxis Cyberkids Camp-2 together with six other schools of Terengganu.

During the five-day camp, all the school participants were given assignments and required to do ICT-based presentations to share with the rest of the class on what they had researched. Upon completion of the innovation challenge, six students from SMK Kijal showed no signs to give up or depressed. Above all ups and downs, they were determined to compete though were challenged by highly competent competitors from various elite and famous schools such as SMK Elit Mak Lagam, SMK Premier Chukai, and SMK Rantau Petronas. The good personalities and competency the students possessed had finally deserved them the Best Group Award for the State Competition.

On September 18, Maxis Communications Berhad had partnered with the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications to organize the Maxis Cyberkids e-Challenge 2008. The main objective of this national-level competition was to provide opportunities to students in featuring and promoting projects which had been proposed during the Cyberkids-2 Camps.The challenge was open to 63 participating schools of Maxis Cyberkids-2 Camps. SMK Kijal advanced its second victory by being one of ten winners in the competition and excelled in blogging, community project (Rainwater Toilet Flushing & Shower Timer), and multimedia presentations (e-Book). In fact, SMK Kijal was the only representative for Terengganu.

Due to the winning, SMK Kijal was then qualified to become ICT ambassador representing Malaysia at the ASEAN Maxis Cyberkids Camp which was held in Kuala Lumpur from November 23^rd to 29^th. This camp promoted regional integration on ICT and IT skills among participants from Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar.

To gain recognitions at the state-level, national-level, and ASEAN was not easy, yet SMK Kijal had proved it, and that it was the power of nurture and belief had produced such excellent achievers.

Tahniah diucapkan kepada semua ahli pasukan, guru-guru penasihat dan semua warga SMK Kijal. Memang tidak dijangkakan SMK Kijal terpilih kerana semua peserta pertandingan bukanlah calang-calang. Semua sekolah yang terlibat sungguh hebat dan sangat komited.

Namun kegigihan dan berkat doa anda semualah membuatkan kita berjaya akhirnya memenangi pertandingan ini. SYABAS SEMUA!

APA ITU BLOG ?

- Blog ialah ringkasan daripada perkataan weblog.

- Istilah “weBlog” diperkenalkan oleh Jorn Barger pada 17 Disember 1997. Kemudian disingkatkan kepada "blog" oleh Peter Merholz.

- Blog ialah “online diary” ataupun diari harian atau jurnal maya yang mengandungi cetusan rasa, pendapat peribadi, perkongsian maklumat atau dalam apa sahaja bentuk penulisan.

- Blog biasanya sentiasa dikemaskini setiap hari atau setiap masa mengikut kemahuan pemiliknya.

- Blog adalah refleksi atau cermin “blogger”;mengenal personaliti atau keperibadian blogger melalui kandungan blognya.

- Para pembaca atau pelawat blog boleh memberi komen pada setiap tulisan atau artikelblogger, tetapi blogger boleh juga menghalang komen daripada dilihat dengan mematikan “comment links.”

-Blog mempunyai tema yang pelbagai mengikut minat atau kepakaran blogger: haiwan peliharaan, bolasepak, Bahasa Inggeris, resipi, politik, agama, sains, animasi, idola, permainan video, lirik dan lagu, dan lain-lain.

- Blog mengandungi teks, audio, muzik, video, bloglinks, weblinks, gambar, animasi, permainan maya, iklan (Adsense), kamus maya, jurnal maya, terjemahan maya percuma, dan lain-lain lagi “widgets”.

- Layout blog juga boleh ditukar ganti dengan mudah dan percuma dengan menggunakan “blog templates” yang boleh didapati daripada blog-blog yang mengkhusus dalam penciptaan laman blog.

- Bahasa Inggeris digunakan dalam arahan pembangunan blog dan tiada blog yang dibina mengikut arahan Bahasa Melayu buat masa ini.

- Namun, blogger boleh menulis dalam Bahasa Melayu.

BAGAIMANA MENGHASILKAN BLOG?

Terdapat 2 kaedah iaitu:

i) menghasilkan sendiri: perlukan kepakaran membuat laman web & php programming

ii) menggunakan khidmat “blog provider” secara percuma : tidak perlukan kepakaran TETAPI perlu tahu Bahasa Inggeris dan rajin “update” isi kandungan blog.

FAEDAH- FAEDAH PENGGUNAAN BLOG DALAM PENDIDIKAN

1. “Virtual & Interactive Blackboard” untuk P&P.

2. Perkongsian, penambahan dan pengkayaan ilmu oleh ramai bloggers yang terdiri daripada guru-guru sebuah sekolah ataupun gabungan sekolah-sekolah dalam sebuah daerah. (Rujuk "bloglinks")

3.Pihak sekolah tidak memerlukan “website”, “webmaster”, dan kos penyelenggaraan laman web.

Semua guru boleh menguruskan blog masing-masing, sebaik-baiknya mengikut panitia masing-masing tanpa memerlukan pengetahuan PHP programming. (Rujuk “Web Hosting”& “freewebs.com”)

4. Pihak sekolah boleh meletakkan segala maklumat mengenai sekolah dan “bloglinks” semua panitia untuk rujukan semua pihak.

5. Guru-guru boleh berinteraksi atau mengajar pelajar di luar waktu kelas atau semasa cuti sekolah menggunakan blog (rujuk fungsi Skype& email). Pelajar-pelajar boleh mengakses nota dan latihan, mendapatkan konsultasi guru pada bila-bila masa sahaja.

6. Blog juga melatih pelajar dalam penulisan (Bahasa Melayu&Bahasa Inggeris).

7. Ruangan Forum dan Chatroom di blog juga boleh digunakan oleh semua guru untuk membantu para pelajar yang lemah ataupun malu bertanya di dalam kelas.

8. Guru-guru tidak perlu membelanjakan banyak wang untuk membeli CD ataupun model untuk P&P kerana blog boleh menghubungkan kepada laman-laman web yang mempunyai contoh dan simulasi subjek yang sangat interaktif, global dan PERCUMA. (Rujuk “Online English Sounds & Pronounciation:Randall’s”)

9. Peningkatan pencapaian akademik para pelajar boleh berlaku jika semua guru rajin dan kreatif mengadaptasikan sumber-sumber di internet untuk P&P di blog.

10. Blog boleh merangsang semua deria manusia dengan lebih berkesan melalui “layout” dan “widgets” nya. Penglibatan semua deria dalam proses P&P membolehkan individu menguasai ilmu yang dipelajarinya bukan setakat memahami.

2. Klik butang "Create Your Own Blog" pada laman web "Blogger.com".

3. Daftarkan email anda untuk buka akaun di "Blogger.com".

4. Cipta dan isikan nama blog anda (Blog Title) dan alamat blog anda (Blog url).

5. Taip perkataan yang tertera di "Word Verification", dan klik butang "Continue".
