Are your Frustrated? When you are Hurt, how long do you want the feeling to last?

A few years ago I read "Peaceful Warrior" by Daniel Millman. In it Letting Go is taught. A man he knew well planned to have a Restaurant, his Dream. The Dream was realized. How pleased he was when customers enjoyed the place.

The owner was walking to the Restaurant. It was engorged in Flames! He screamed with Pain. Within a minute or three, he Let it Go. Wow!

The Technique is to Smile. When I banged my foot hard I yelped and immediately smiled. A month later it still hurts but I let go of my Mistake.

Elsewhere in my writing, read about the Big Smile. I used to struggle with Depression. Never again. I use the Big Smile and Immediately Feel Happy.

Feel the Pain, then Smile.

your Friend,

Sitting Bull was a true Rain Maker.

White witnesses, very late in his life, saw him make a fire, sing and wave a buffalo robe. The Rain came immediately.

Drought Ended in the Now because Sitting Bull had Absolute Confidence, confidence that Wakantanka would bless as he asked.

This Article, from Bruce Lynch, explores Patterns, human traits held in commen ampng most all who achieve Greatness. After reading biographies of over 230 people, the Principles clarified, taught by Tony Robbins have become clear to me. A life where, most of the time, High Confidence exists and is earned can be achieved.

Substantially all of those 230 select people lived with High Confidence and Optimism.

Live with High Certainty

Living with Absolute Certainty is rare. It has great power.

Sitting Bull was a Hunter. With Whites, he did not want to fight. Yet, with certainty, he held to his Core Beliefs.

A friend of Sitting Bull and co-conquerer of Custer, Crazy Horse, also lived with High and Absolute Certainty.

Like Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse's early teen vision quest told him he would not be seriously wounded. And so it was with both of them, until also envisioned Betrayal by their own people occured, when their Life Purpose had been completed.

Consider High Certainty as being just below Absolute Certainty. If a human can ever do so, to walk on water likely requires Absolute Certainty. To Bring Rain requires it too. Miracle healing by Faith is an Experience that requires such Certainty. Michael Jordon and other rare humans live with Very High Certainty. Every Great Althlete has it often in their play.

Examples of those with High Certainty

It is likely that Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett live with High Certainty. Perhaps the Dali Lama and Ammachi of Kerala live with Absolute Certainty often. Others less known too, including the founder of Aikido, Ueshiba Morihei, and several Indian Saints including Ramsuratkumar, Yukteswar and Ramakrishna.

Fictional and fictionalized characters have High Certainty including Conan the Barbarian, Ghengnis Kahn, Alexander the Great, Merlin, Krishna, and Gautama Buddha. Mr. Miyagji in the Karate Kid movies taught and showed the principles that lead to certainty.

Key Principles in Common across Paths and Religions

There is a set of Principles that is in Common across the Great Religions, called the "Perenniel Philosophy". Among those principles are:

development internally of one's Will Power, perhaps even to Absolute Certainty

being Expert at what you do,

doing what Feels Right across time, often forsaking other shorter term desires,

overcoming all of ones Fears and Desires,

Honesty, and

serving a Purpose greater than self interest.

The well trodden and well taught possible Paths are several. With any one of them, you can learn Principles and Techniques, Practices so deeply that such principals become elements of one's fundamental being. Yoga of body positions and Martial Arts both teach the Basics and more. The 12 Step Programs teach several of the Basics. Self Control including Emotional Control are required and somewhat early in the Paths to Inner Success.

Develop your Will Power

Overcoming Addiction occurs as one's Will Power and Self Control increases. To Worry is an addiction for many, one that Will Power overcomes. To avoid acting on any addiction for a period is a good beginning. An alcoholic who Cleanse monthly will do well for their body, for self confidence and self respect. Doing without alcohol for a period of 3 days is what I recommend to many. Having extra water and vitamin C and eating easy to digest foods on such days is recommended too.

The inner development gained by incorporating any Great Path shows to us our Destiny, Fate, Karma and the Purpose of one's unique Life.

Teach and Train your Children

When bringing up children, parents should teach the child to Delay Desire, to Overcome Fear, to Accept Small Pain and to develop Will Power and Honesty. Two techniques we used when raising our 6 children were to pay each month for each new personal record. Each of the 6 reached Holding of Breath for 90 seconds; some started only able to achieve 30 seconds. Each also did military style push-ups achieving 25. The boys sure like how buff my two girls are. Each of our 6 childen is now an adult with a good life amd great lungs.

Read a Biography of someone you respect.

You may want to choose any named in this article. King David, Mohammed, and Jesus make great choices too. Recently, I read two, a biography of Sitting Bull and a fictionalized Biography of Galileo. Recently before that, it was Mark Twain and Sam Walton with short articles about each in my enhance617 Blog.

Anthony Robbins made a great Study of all such Principles and Teachings and put them in his books, his material and his own life. Consider his books and web site.

What are you Certain about?
Any Adult can Ask. Ask a niece or neighbor's kid. Then do not offer direct help, but ask for details if reasonable to ask.

In Uxbridge MA Grade School, I was bullied. Many of us were. My 2 years older sister, Jackie, beat them up. That calmed them down for a while. No adult ever asked me, even Mom who taught in the same school.

No teacher, relative or any adult ever asked me.

Imagine, the walk from the Taft Elementary School to the High School with grass and playing fields along the way.

Lesson - get an Ally:
As a small thin 3rd grader, I was way out ahead of Jackie. I did not even know she was behind me.

Two boys jumped me. I was on the ground. They both kicked me. I went into fetal position covering my head with my arms.

Jackie. Suddenly, both were thrown off of me. Jackie, said, "get up, Bruce. Here Bruce, take my Jacket." She walked slowly to the two, She punched the first one in the face. Soon, both begged for mercy on the ground.

Jackie Lynch was the second toughest in the 5th grade, behind Carol Ray who lived near us on Main Street. They beat me up too, but not badly, only wrestling usually. Both were Allies; so, the Bullies were totally at bay until both Jackie and Carol Ray switched to the High School.

At Boarding School, from the 2nd day for a year, I was teased relentlessly. No Adult ever asked me.

One of my sons was bullied in Sudbury, MA. Together, we identified a stronger-than-the-bully kid; over time, he became an Ally. The bullying stopped.

You are interested. You are trying to Understand.

"Honey, the tire blew. I went over a curb. It was terrible!" she says as She walks in the door.

His Answer #1. "Did you get the spare fixed?" he quickly responds. Why? He Wants Action.

Ah, a young one, young He is in relationship skills. There would have been time to talk about replacing the spare. Now, you have upset Her. You did not let Her "Be Heard."

Are you the Action person? If you are, you would benefit greatly by learning and using how to do, how to use the Active Listening method.

Active Listening is a method One can use to gain understanding about what the Other is Feeling and Thinking.

To Listen Actively, you start by Reflecting about the Other person's reality.

His Answer #2. "Oh, wow, honey. Were you shocked when the tire blew?"

Good job! He used Active Listening. He focused on what She said and in the time period she named.

Your Reflection, Reflecting needs to be about what happened at the Moment the Being Heard person points to in what they say.

Do not Anticipate. Do not Ask a Question, not yet. That comes after Active Listening, after he has Been Heard.

His Answer #3: "Oh, you were relieved I am sure when AAA came."

Yuk! What is She likely to say?

"No, honey. I had to wait for them for 45 minutes. I was late for my appointment." Do not Anticipate when using Active Listening.

2. An important Active Listening idea: Discuss No Solutions until Next Day.

If you abide by the rules of Active Listening, then you can not bring up new ideas. You reflect on what the Other is currently saying, not on what may be implied.

Bite your tongue if you need to. You can not bring up a solution when She wants to Be Heard. If She brings up a solution, do not pursue it. Not yet. Wait until the next day.

This Delay is Not required. It is Best to Structure Conversation a little, if it will help.

“Hunny, what I want now is to better Understand the Issue. Maybe it would be better to stay on that now and to talk about possible solutions later.”

Now, who would not like to hear such a suggestion? Instead of pushing, you are calm and focused on Hearing and Understanding.

The Wikipedia Entry about Active Listening begins with:

Active listening is a communication technique that requires the listener to understand, interpret, and evaluate what he hears. The ability to listen actively can improve personal relationships through reducing conflicts, strengthening cooperation, and fostering understanding.

Suspending one’s own frame of reference, suspending judgment and avoiding other internal mental activities are important to fully attend to the speaker.

Learn more about Active Listening at Wikipedia.

"What I'm hearing is." and "Sounds like you are saying." are great ways to reflect back. Ask questions to clarify certain points. "What do you mean when you say." "Is this what you mean?" Summarize the speaker's comments periodically.
You will be a better parent if you wait until the Next Day, even better when you use Active Listening.

Key Principles exist that make life better. Active Listening is one such Principle. I use it in many relationships with my adult children and those I want to understand deeply.

The focus of much of my writing is about Principles and Techniques that Make Life Better.

To learn those principles, my life experience is rich in training, at university, at IBM, Boeing and Computer Sciences and in a Church.
Hello. One big difference between me, Bruce, in 1990 and in 2011 is Awareness, and a willingness to move slowly.

When on snow and ice two aspects important:

1. Balance. Be ready for your feet to move, to slip. Hold your arms down to your sides when traction is good. Those arm will move out to the sides as your Balance Beam as soon as feet start to slip.

2. Slow speed, for increased even perfect Control. At the extreme, Slow Speed = Stop. Get your breath, examine footing ahead.

Then take one slow small step if you are on ice, with black ice being an extreme of slipperyness. Keep your Balance on the planted foot as the other foot moves, particularly if you are on thin ice. Test the footing of the foot that moves with most of your weight still on the planted foot.

Walk slow as my son Joshua says in his blog.

Increase your speed only a little at a time.

Life is good. Slowing the pace can reveal beauty at times while going slowly protects you at other times.

with gratitude for key principles and techniques for a happy life,
Good ones too. I tend to put in 100s of hours moving down the patt toward revenue, then the idea is shelved. "Focus, Daniel-san" said Mr. Miagi in the movie Karate Kid. The ability to Focus is a strength for me, except with what to start up.

--------------------------------------------------------------

As an aside recent Start-up possibilities and vague dreams include:

1. Wearable Technology: Pets, young children and all of us will be Wearing technology. We no longer need to have a Lost Dog or Child. A Headset with Visual Zooming and Audio Improvement is one of many possibilities.

2. Advertising and Content can be Displayed Anywhere now. Fold-able cloth that displays anything a PC or Mac can display. Put it on the back of your van and when tail-gating show the live Concert. From the driver's seat, change the Channel. Maybe on your car, you'd run a 30 Second TV Commercial for the Audubon Society, the NRA or about Saving Energy.

3. Voice Input should be free with good quality using an Advertising Model.

4. Android and iPhone and iPad software developers would respond well to an "Android Developer's Shop" that would provide telephone support for a fee and retail all development tools of decent quality.

--------------------------------------------------------------

"The Secret to Success is Constancy of Purpose" is my favorite Motivational Quote, by Benjamin Disraeli. Disraeli was Jewish Prime Minister of the UK in the mid 1800s. Disraeli knew many of the Keys to Success.

http://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/47030.Benjamin_Disraeli

lists many of Benjamin Disraeli's quotes including:

"Most people die with their music still locked up inside them."

"When men are pure, laws are useless; when men are corrupt, laws are broken."

"Never apologize for showing feeling. When you do so, you apologize for the truth."

"To be conscious that you are ignorant is a great step to knowledge" - Benjamin Disraeli as are all above. | When I worked at Boeing. we were taught about Learning Curve. "How to Learn" was an important subject. At one such a Boeing class, we learned about the process for skill development.

We start as:

    1. Unconscious that we are Not Competent.

    2. Consciously Incompetent. We know what we want to become able to do or to understand.

    3. It begins as a Thought, like maybe I should get into shape, to exercise.

2. Hope. When the Emotion of Desire fits the Thought, it becomes a Hope. Could it be possible?

2. b. The Hope is made strong by Contemplation, by exploring, often by doing research. Always lay out the steps that are likely to fulfill your Hope, or write a detailed description of what you are creating as Your Hope.

3. a. Faith Begins with Action. When we decide to act on the Hope, it becomes Faith. Initially, the Faith is at least somewhat blind. Do I have the commitment?

Action feeds Faith. Poor results weaken it. When fragile, Faith should normally be nurtured by staying quiet about it. Sharing with someone who discourages us can even extinguish fragile Faith.

3. b. When several actions come out well, Faith becomes strong. With enough positive actions, positive fruit, Faith begets Confidence.

4. Confidence! Faith is Replaced. When actions continue eventually it can reach the end ...

5. Certainty.

An Example> Exercise > 25 Push-Ups?

Can one do 25 push-ups? Anyone who has recently been doing 35 of more will smile with Certainty. Certainty is the Perfect Knowledge referred to by the sages.

Character, Will Power and the discipline to Delay Desire are traits that contribute strongly to the ability to have and use Faith.

Patterns of humans who achieve a degree of greatness is one of my most favorite subjects.

-- BruceLynch

Bruce W. I went over a curb. It was terrible!"

"Did you get the spare fixed?"

Ah, young one. There would have been time to talk about replacing the spare. Now, you have upset him. You did not let him "be heard."

Are you the Action person? If you are, you would benefit greatly by learning and using how to do
Active Listening. To do so, you start by Reflecting about the other person's reality.

"Oh, wow, honey. You were shocked when the tire blew." Your Reflection needs to be about what happened at the Moment the Being Heard person points to. Do not Anticipate. Do not Ask Question, not yet. That comes after Active Listening, after he has Been Heard.

Not: "Oh, you were relieved I am sure when AAA came."

For, you are likely to receive: "No, honey. I had to wait for them for 45 minutes. I was late for my appointment."

2. Another related technique is: No Solutions brought up until Next Day.

Bite your tongue if you need to. You can not bring up a solution when he wants to Be Heard. If he brings up a solution, do not pursue it. Not yet. Wait until the next day.

---

The desire to Be Heard is strong among children. You will be a better parent if you wait until the Next Day, even better when you use Active Listening.

Key Principles exist that make life better.

The focus of this blog is on those principles. To learn those principles, my life experience is rich in training, at university, at IBM, Boeing and Computer Sciences and in a Church. It also includes reading the Bible word by word more than 10 times, reading the scriptures of each Great Religion, reading biographies of 220+ people who achieved a degree of Greatness and direct experience with over 10 start-up technology companies.

<link rel="related" href="http://exxelinternational.com/exxel-content-articles.html" title="To "be heard" or want Action?

At age about 20 months or 24 months I walked with my sister Jackie, 28 months older than me. We went past Griswald Court to the big field. I had my snow suit on; so, maybe it was March or April, born 1 July, so 20 months old.

I became curious about an animal hole. Down into that muddy rabbit hole, I entered, then immediately slid in the slippery mud to the bottom.

"Gaggie! Help me. I am stuck."

No answer. Gaggie! Gaggie! I yelled, little Brucie.

It was all mud

I kept slipping down

Gaggie! my word for Jackie. I called and called.

little Brucie was trained by God

that day

Slowly carefully he crept

toward the top of that hole

trying to climb out in that

heavy, muddy snow suit

Only to slide down again and again.

Little Brucie cried and cried.

Eventually,

Indide his head, In the voice of his Mother Rosamond

the Lord said:

"sit now. Rest. Breathe."

"you are in no hurry."

"try to climb up again when rested."

"Gaggie!" he said angrily.

"where are you?"

Hours passed by in that large field

with no one to hear.

Patiently, little Brucie obeyed the voice.

Attempt to climb to the top.

Slip back down.

Cry.

Breathe deeply. Just sit and wait.

Then try again.

Eventually, the 5 O'Clock whistle blew.

All kids knew, that means time to go home.

Brucie go upset about that.

How to go home?

oh. oh

I hear something.

it is!

It is Mikey Lainey

the black mixed breed

wiry haired leader

of all the dogs.

Mikey. Go get Gaggie! Go get Gaggie!

Mikey did it. Eventually Jackie came with Mikey.

She dragged me out of that hole.

The lessons?

Try and try again.

Be patient.

Listen to the Voice in your head.

Patience and persistence pay off in the Lord's own time.

Bruce W. Dark. Sunday Night at about 9 pm. Winter jacket, warm. Feel impervious.

Walking back from Burger King. Keep the bag of food dry. Walking across, with red light in my favor. No cars. Step, step, step. Hood is up. Can't see much.

Bag under the coat, dry.

Traffic Light. Cross.

I hear a car. I look right. I bend forward.

Awhhh!

I am hit, hard, in my butt.

My body buckles, falls. Down. On tar.

The Lord takes over.

I Roar. "Roar. Roar!"

Loudly, I yelled.

Then up, in pushup position, straight, not moving.

"Roar, Roar."

Footsteps.

"Oh, you are hurt!"

"Stay down." Then she says, "Can you get up?"

"Roar" more quietly as Awhhh.

"I don't think so. Not yet."

A man says, "Should I call 911?"

"Yes." I say.

Awhhh. Energy courses through my back. Awhhh.

Awhhh, Awhhh. Not too loudly.

Feet solidly under me, I rise to Mountain Pose, arms stretched high gently.

Sounds continue. Sacred sounds from my voice.

"Awhhh. Ahhh, Ahhh, Oooh. Oooh Eeeee, Eeeee Uhhhh. Uhhhh."

I will get up. She grabs my right arm. Feet under body, very low. Slowly. Straighten up.

I am OK. I am starting to feel better. I will be OK.

After I stand, I look her in the eyes and say, "Are you married? Yes. Hug your husband tonight. This never happened, I am all right."

"No. No. You are not all right."

"Hug him for me. Tell him God is good. God takes good care of me every day.

I am a priest. I will be all right."

A man walks up to her. I have started to continue my walk home.

"I will be all right," as I raise my arms. "See?" "I can't dance yet, but I will be all right."

I disappear. Sirens start in the distance. Walking fast I enter my one room home.

Safe, I thank God for Yoga, Meditation, kundalini and exercise.

My Lessons?

Don't be Oblivious; do pay attention. The Lord protects me.

This is Confidential, not to be mentioned to my family or friends; for they would worry, unnecessarily.

Bruce

Friday, December 05, 2008

I was hit at 15 mph or so by a black, Japanese car, newish. Short Brown haired 40ish woman, 5 6" or so, well dressed. First Quarter GDP estimates will come out soon.

Two Issues are threatening, interest rates will start to go up and 2. perhaps, Crude Oil and Commodities will rise again sharply with Crude over $100 a barrel. TLT, the 30 year TBond, is the best indicator for Interest Rates. As TLT goes down, interest rates are going up. Today TLT hit a new 6 month low.

The Fed is trying to stay accommodative while drying up much of what it lent.

A decline of 500 on the DJIA (DIA is the ETF) because of interest rates and inflation seems likely sometime soon.

Bruce

Bruce W. A Solution recommended

Congress is rightfully concerned. Regulating risk in the markets can be done by Regulation:

1. separates companies into only 1 industry again (as the Glass Steagall Act did): Banking (normal lenders), Investment Banks, Investors with perhaps Hedge Funds as its own sub-category.

2. Require Capital Ratios for each industry. Include all angles including Leverage Ratio.

Now Banking is required to have Capital. Apparently, the Ratio required is 4%, for tier 1 capital. So to increase loans outstanding they need 4% of equity to fund a loan. This applies to their investments too, of course. 25 to 1 leverage is allowed because loans are conservative and not likely to have a large ratio default.

Investors get a 50% margin loan, 2 to 1 Leverage.

For Investment Banking their primary purposes are to raise money and to execute trades for clients. In those businesses they issue Margin Loans. Perhaps there is a Capital Requirement for issuance of such loans. 25 to 1 seems fine, like a bank loan.

When Investment Banking or any company issues Insurance of any kind ("taking a bet") either it should be not allowed and done by the separate insurance industry, or the Capital Ratio should be conservative, like 4 to 1, a 25% capital ratio.

In Insurance Capital Ratios are regulated by the States. Clearly a Federal set of similar limits should be considered.

Investment Banking should have a Ratio.

Bruce

For context, I studied economics, have had substantial experience with insurance, trade stocks on paper for fun and to track the economy.

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Enhance617BostonEntrepreneur-PrinciplesForSuccessHappiness/~3/sf_pu8kvpfI/regulate-financials-using-capital.html" title="regulate Financials using Capital Requirements. Consider examples like walking on ice, pouring a glass of water, driving in traffic.

The answer has two parts:

1. you can reduce your speed and eliminate distractions.

2. you can increase you overall awareness and your focus on the task. Threading a needle requires both.

It is raining very hard. You are driving and are tired. Now the rain is harder, so hard that visibility is only about 50 feet ahead. You pull over and stop.

You breath deeply. Radio goes off. Others in the car agree not to talk when you again drive, until the rain slows down.

The result is both that your awareness is increased and distractions are lowered.

On any task, to become single minded helps. That includes focus, awareness.

next time pour the water slowly, drive with 2 or 3 more car lengths ahead of you than you did before

When you get really quiet and focused, find a subject to be grateful for and smile.
Then, if you will, let that smile grow. Stand up. Really. try it. Stand. Reach your arms up toward the sky. Reach a little higher. Now Smile! Hold that smile and stretch.

Feel your arms tingle. Your body tingles. Pretend that the smile is surging through your body.

Lower your arms slowly. And if you will, sit quietly on the floor, to find silence and meditate.

1. reduce distractions and speed. 2. increase awareness. 3. be grateful.

your friend,

Uncle Bruce

Bruce W. A Native elder and my favorite nerd

Sunday August 14th I went to the RI shore for the powwow. Stopped at the elder of the clan's house and stayed there.

(The pic of a stone wall shows the work of the his team, stone masons. They did some of the work you see at Foxwoods, in Newport and all around Rhode Island.)

The prior nite, JC the Nerd who is my oldest of 2 nephews and I continued a conversation we have across the years. In earlier portions we often review a concept, Stress is wanting something to be different than it is. Fix stress, eliminate stress in 2 ways: 1 Change what we want. 2. get what we want.

Last night I asked JC,
"is it about this? You doing what you feel you must rather than what you choose."

JC said, "You nailed it. Obsessive. I can be obsessive."

"Have you used that Music Release concept we talked about? -- calm music you already like. listen to it often. exagerate how much you like it.

He has! Beethoven, particular pieces. Cool. The stresses leave his body sometimes when he listens intently.

6 hours later, the eldest in the clan, SB, takes time to talk with me, about a lot, concern about the health of his brother, the satisfaction and joy of creating a stone wall.

"Ya know, Bruce. I am 68 now. My son does most of the stone work. I still go with him sometimes. I tell my son, it all looks the same." (He is not feeling the sense of wonder so easily with the stones any more.)

I get to go where I want, when I want. With no one telling me what to do. Grateful he is, very grateful.

Shackles there can be in life, from within our responsibilities usually. As many get older their bodies become shackled. Not for my 60 year old full triathalon brother!

The "gentle voice of the spirit" is a concept. It is said in many ways, in most all cultures, In Star Wars it is "the Force." Unity-consciousness it is called by others. Inspiration.

When it is obligation we see, we can feel pushed. Then where is joy? where the gentle voice? An inch away perhaps. Unless active torture is occuring, an attitude shift can free us. for minutes at a time.

The door closes and the job you do not want to do starts. Good, get engaged.

Mine was a life where obligation controlled my time I lead for many years. Now, whether I am there because of obligation, or by preference, I try to be in that experience, letting go of associations with the past. Engaging the current experience, letting go of what pulls away.

With his achilles tendon in a brace the cook for today, younger son, was explaining to me that he is ok with it. He can even enjoy it if you can understand. The pain in the tendon makes me more aware, more awake.

Is it intense. Yes. Intense! That is what it is.

You like intensity. Don't you?

Yah. That is why I like to wrestle. Intensity. That is where it is at.

You cool, Bruce. Intensity.

Have some of them ribs!

<link rel="related" href="http://www.narragansett-tribe.org/" title="Purpose of Life, Who is driving?

Preventing asthma, treating pollen allergies

The best plan for pollen allergies is to avoid pollen. Get an air filter that eliminates pollen and put it in the rooms where you live.

My particular experience with pollen allergies includes allergies to trees, grasses and most anything that grows. My eyes water and itch easily. No single dose of anti-histamine does enough for me.

By being careful and conscious about symptoms, I have only had "a cold" two times in the last 12 years.

Following is my thinking and recommendations about asthma and allergy meds. I am not expert. It is only from my own experience, reading and conversations with others.

Allergy symptom progress into asthma. If I do not already have asthma symptoms, I better not let allergy symptoms get worse and worse. The hospital has been the result. 4 times, adrenaline shots. It makes sense. The mucous gets in the nose and throat. As symptoms in the nose get worse, the mucouse then starts to fill my lungs.

As an aside, for managing allergy symptoms when the irritants are not too powerful, on a light pollen day, I use herbs including eyebright, stinging nettles and goldenseal. When symptoms do not go away by taking herbs, I use the medications described here.

For allergies, when your eyes are not watering or itching but your nose is stuffed, the red sudafed tablets work well.

When you eyes are watering, it is because of the histamine reaction in your body. An anti-histamine stops that reaction. Claritin and Alavert are commercial brands that work best for me with the least of side effects. From Walgreens drug store enclosed is their generic. It has the same 10 mg of Lortadine as the name brands and works as well, for about $0.40, 40 cents, per tablet.

Allergies with itchy eyes: Take one Lortadine and wait 20 minutes. For me, stopping the histamine reaction is very important. When I have not done so in the past, I get sick for days, my immune system does poorly and eventually asthma gets stronger and stronger. So, I take another tablet and again wait another 15 or 20 minutes. At times I have taken as many as 4.

Asthma, wheezing: Start by taking 2 primatene tablets. Then wait 20 minutes. If your wheezing is not much less, take one more. I never have needed more than a total of 5. The dosage in Primatene is about ½ the dose in one tablet of their competitor, Bronchaid.

Primatene has two ingredients each with a different action. Bronchaid has one of those, Ephedrine HCL 12.5 mg. It is a stimulant like caffeine. Ephedrine acts about the same as an asthma inhaler or puffer like Ventolin, but rather than action within a minute or so, freer breathing takes at least 10 and maybe 20 minutes to start with tablets. To me ephedrine is similar to getting a shot of adrenaline but in a smaller dose.

Guaifenesin 200 mg is the other ingredient in Primatene. It is an expectorant. The same ingredient is in cough medications from Robitussin and Dristan. Get the mucous to let go from inside of your lungs. You'll spit it out.

Living with the wheezing is ok for a while but clearing it all out can help a lot. For me I can eliminate a condition that otherwise is getting worse and worse. Nothing is like an asthma attack. I don't need to have one.

Bruce W.
The New York Times article, at the link, describes research that shows that teachings matter: to delay desire, to praise effort more than achievement, to praise curiousity.

Win Wenger wrote a book long ago, "How to Increase Intelligence." In the book he teaches about several important issues. Of particular importance is brain development. As a baby, were you allowed to squirm on the floor and later to crawl? If not, do it now to activate your low brain.

One fun concept is that holding your breath can increase intelligence. The caratoid artery has a flap that opens oxygen filled air for your brain. If you can convince it to stay open longer, then more rich blood will enter your brain. That will activate incremental brain cells. During the same days that you do this, you need to challenge your brain. Playing chess is one good way.

Each day in Chicago at a pool, I swam as far as I could underwater. Starting at about 30 yards eventually I reached 75 yards. What a rush it is when you come up for air? Breathing deeply hte starved brain open that flap for quite a while.

I think my intelligence increased by about 10 points. Perhaps my own placebo positive attitude was enough.

How one uses intelligence is a related subject. One can process as well or better than another with higher intelligence when one knows the methods, techniques, values and concepts to use when approaching a challenge.

So, now you see yet one more reason why each of my 6 kids reached the family standard, to hold your breath for 90 seconds. It was not only that each learned then to delay desire, or that their lungs grew to be permantly bigger.

:-)

Bruce

Bruce W.

Faith, how does it work?

Faith is a subject that is deep and wide.

1. It begins as a Thought, like maybe I should get into shape.

2. When the Emotion of Desire fits the Thought, it becomes a Hope. Could it be possible?

2. b. The Hope is made strong by Contemplation, by exploring, often by doing research. Always lay out the steps likely, or a detailed description of what you are creating as hope.

3. a. Faith begins. When we decide to act on the Hope, it becomes Faith. Initially the Faith is at least somewhat blind.

4. Faith is Replaced. When actions continue eventually it can reach the end ... Certainty.

-- Bruce
Wishful thinking is only a small amount of Hope with no actions. One must determine what actions can be take and choose to move toward the goal. Each Journey starts with Steps (Actions).

Bruce W. Soon after start-up it would run slowly. Staying below 3 browser tabs helped. RAM memory gets used and then not freed. A free to use software utility fixed it. It frees memory continuously. Going above 5 tabs still slows the PC but when I stayed at 5 and lower, speed stated good.

Now I have 2 gig, no limit reached so far on tabs open.

The URL is http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html

I use the same free software to clean up the Registry and to Control Start-Up.

What follows is a chat about the software, "Advanced Windows Care Personal."

Bruce: I found another Free Gizmo, It helps
Bruce: w low memory
256megXPGuy: Good
Bruce: Does your PC ever get Way Slow
Bruce: so slow you type and it does not keep up?
256megXPGuy: not Actually. All chant. Chanting moves your focus and therefore energy from one chakra to another. It is cleansing. Consistent chanting and Mantra help improve ones Meditation.

In Monasteries and Nunneries they chant Lord Jesus Christ Have Mercy on Me. Chanting Alleluia is one of my favorites. Combing that with Mountain Pose in yoga sends energy coursing throughout the body.

The Buddhists chant, Hindus, Sufis (muslim). Do the Chinese and Japanese religions Chant? I do not know. They practice Mysticism many ways including the Tea Ceremony.

When you breathe as the mystics do and chant, it contributes to health. See the picture of me with eyes closed. That is Summer 2008 after doing Mountain Pose.

Tell us about your experiences.

Bruce

Bruce W.
I was surprised. You probably already know about Paid singles websites like Match.com Ranked 380 and True.com ranked 1,316.

Many dating sites are totally free now. They charge no membership. You can send and receive email, post blog entries and do pretty much what we can do at MySpace.com and Facebook.com.

The top 2 most popular free dating sites are:

PlentyOfFish.com has some interesting Matching software. Their rank worldwide for all website categories is 473.
OKCupid.com has even better Matching software, ranked 1,471.

FreeDatingAccess.com is a website I have been creating. Please take a look, even if you want to learn about popular Social Networks you may not have heard of. Some Examples:

Last.fm is cool for Music and Ranks as 328 among all websites worldwide.
Skyrock.com ranks at 44 among all websites. Take a look.

Please tell me about anything missing. I have not used all the sites.

Bruce

Bruce W.
