Cool CSS3 Buttons With Hover Effects

Hi ! Its been a while since I my last post, But, Due to overwhelming success of my last post on CSS buttons, I was inspired to design some more buttons, Thanks for all your Support and Love. Today, Lets look at some more CSS3 buttons. These buttons are compatible with Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, IE9(As it supports CSS3 now) and all other major browsers too. These buttons do not use any background images, therefore these are purely CSS3 buttons with include hover effects. You only have to copy and paste these buttons in you stylesheets and use them anywhere in your blog or website.

Instructions For adding these cool buttons to your blog

Click on the ‘Demo’ button.

Login to Blogger Dashboard, Then go to Design >> Edit HTML
Paste the copied CSS code just above ]]></b:skin>

CSS3 has started a new era for Web Designers.I have used some of CSS3 techniques to get these beautiful buttons.These buttons are professionally designed by me that include hover effects, gradients and borders without the use of any image. As the name says, Its a simple button that is found almost everywhere. Its very similar to Google Search button or any classic button. Its Ideal for any tech blogs or classic blogs.

I have assumed that you have backed up your old template and have installed the new template as per the instructions. Now, lets customise it to suit your blog needs : )

1. Editing Meta Tags

Elite Blue is highly customised for its ability to attract search engines and get them the right information. Its important to add meta tags to the template for more SEO friendly behaviour. Read my previous post –> Meta Tags Explained.

I have added dynamic meta tags by default and you only have to customise a part of it.

Go to Design tab, then to Edit HTML.
Search for <head> (Press Ctrl +F)
You can find meta tags below it as shown in the screenshot.
Just replace the words with the bolded words as shown below.

Installing a Blogger Template

Here are the steps you have to follow before you install a new blogger template to your blog. It’s Important to follow these steps for safety so that you don’t mess up your blog. So lets start.

1. Backup your current Blogger Template

In case a error occurs while you install your new template, you can revert back to old template if you back it up. So, Lets backup our template first.

Login to Blogger Dashboard, Click on Design.
Go to Edit HTML.
Click on Download Full Template.
Save it as a safe location in your hard disk, You are done !

2. Backup your Blog Widgets

You don’t have to backup certain widgets like popular posts, recent posts and all others. You only need to backup blogger widgets that you have coded in HTML/Javascript form.

Go To Design Tab, Then to Page Elements.
Click on Edit at the right corner of HTML/Javascript widget.
Copy all the code present in the text box and Save it in a notepad file.
You are Done!

3. Copy All Validation Codes and Analytics Codes

You have to copy all the codes given to you by various services like Google Analytics, Stat Counters, Webmaster tools code, Yahoo Explorer validation codes etc.

You can find these codes yourself by a simple search
Press Ctrl + F from your keyboard and search for keywords such as ‘msvalidate’ for google webmasters, ‘y_key’ for Yahoo Explorer, ‘var _gaq’ for google analytics etc
If you dont find above codes or you find difficulty in locating and copying the codes, Login to your respective services and request for new codes.
You can also copy the google adsense ad codes, Chitika ad codes and all such ad codes if you have ads displayed at your blog.
You are Done !

4. Install New Template !

You are ready to install your new template!
Go to Design tab, then to Edit HTML.
Click on Browse, Navigate to the template XML file location, Select it and Click Open.
Then Click on Upload. You are Done, You have a new look to your blog

5. Follow the Instructions given by the Template Designer

This is very much self explanatory and I dont have to elaborate it right?

These are the steps you have to follow if you dont want to take any risks. Or Else you can mess up with your template.

OK, What to do if blogger creeps up with an error after you install your new blogger template. That’s easy!(only because you have backed up your old template.) Just revert back to old look by following the 4th step and choosing your old template file which you downloaded earlier.

How To Choose Good Meta Tags . . .

Hi Guys, In my last post, I have explained you why meta tags are important for getting the blog content indexed by search engines. You can refer to my previous article and then come back here. Choosing Good meta tags is very important for any webmaster. The ‘Keyword’ meta tag and the description meta tag is what determines the position of your site’s listing on search engines.

How is Description Meta Tag used by Search Engines

Before giving tips on choosing meta tags, let me explain what search engines do using the ‘Description’ meta tags that we provide. OK, lets say I have typed in”enhanceblogger.blogspot.com” in google search engine. Here is a screenshot of how it appears.

Have a look at it. The short description which is present below the heading is exactly the same meta description which I have added to my template. So, we can say that google extracts the “description meta tag” and shows to visitors in this way. Let me show you another screenshot which is not SEO optimised.

Look at the description of this site. What do you understand by it? Nothing right? Its probably because the site owner has not added any description tag to it. So you now know the importance of meta tags.

Optimizing Meta Tags

Description Meta Tag :

The second screenshot tells you one more thing. Look at the last line. Its saying”publish your post . . .” . It means that the description of the site is not yet over. Therefore the visitor cannot get a good impression on that site, right? To avoid search engines showing ‘. . .’ at the end of description, restrict your description meta tag to a maximum of 100 letters. Your Meta Tag should be short and sweet. Tell them honestly what your blog is about , and what do you provide them, That’s enough because you have to limit your description tag.

Keywords Meta Tags

Lets talk on how can you get the maximum out of Keyword Meta Tag. Suppose that I search for something like “Blogger Tricks”, those blogs will be listed which have their Keyword Meta Tag as “Blogger Tricks”. Lets see how many results come out. There are About 49,600,000 results that are listed under the word blogger tricks. Lets search for something more particular, “Blogger Tricks and Tips”. Now there are About 25,500,000 results for the word “Blogger tricks and tips”. Lets search for “Blogger Tricks,Tips,Hacks”. Now About 21,700,000 results.

Conclusion: Use Phrases as keywords, not a single word. This will make sure that you have less competitors for a particular keyword and the chances of you being at the top of listing will be high.

Include some words that you often use while you write posts. For Example: I write the word “SEO” a lot of times when I blog. Therefore, I have included it as a keyword. All Search engines look for relevancy between the actual content and the keywords that you specify. If they find out that you have simply included keywords which do not match your content, there are chances that your listing will get blacklisted. At the same time, include some keywords that are highly searched. Also make sure that you often use that keyword while writing your posts.

Hello Bloggers, A Saturday, how's weekend goin on? Hope you are all enjoying the weekend, Well today, I have a few tips to tell you about adding meta tags. Before i start giving some tips on adding meta tags, lets get ourselves introduced to what meta tags are?

What are Meta Tags?

Now, You are reading my blog. You will come to know a few things about what my blog contains of. You look at the blog title and say – “Ok, Enhance Blogger – May be a blog which will provide tips for the readers that will enhance the look or the way of a blog. May be its provides me tips on on how to write blogs” and so on. We are sharp enough to analyse what a web page consists of.

But what about the search engines. They are robots that cannot analyse what this page consists if it looks at my blog. Here is where meta tags come into play . So Meta tags are some lines of code that tell the search engine bots that this blog contains of such information. Therefore, We as bloggers, should put these meta tags so that the job of analysing the content becomes easier for them. If we want our content to be analysed by search engines, Meta Tags are extremely important for us.

Defining Meta Tags . . .

Several people define meta tags in their own different ways. Here are a few definitions of meta tags which are found in Google web dictionary –> Definitions of Meta Tags.

Adding Meta Tags

By now, you might have an overview of what meta tags are? So the obvious question would be “How to add Meta tags?” Lets see at the syntax for adding them.

Different Meta Tags for Different Posts(Dynamic Meta Tags)

The above method of describing meta tags is not very search engine friendly. Why?, Because those meta tags apply for the whole of your blog. What about the pages that include your posts and posts. Do you want the same meta tags to describe all these pages. It would be better if you add different meta tags for different pages of your blog. We can use conditional tags to describe each web page to have a different meta tags(dynamic meta tags). OK, Lets have a look at the code for adding Dynamic Meta Tags. You must place these codes just after the <head> tag of you template.

What these Dynamic Meta Tags Say is ”If, the search bot is in the home page of the blog, then meta tag=”Description,Keywords which you have entered manually”. If not ‘Description Meta Tag=”Title of the post + Page name”’ and ‘Keywords=”Title of the post + Page name”’. If you are a good programmer, you will easily understand the syntax. Anyways, This is a better way of expressing your meta tags. This will help you climb the ladder of page rank.

All the blog Guru insist only upon one thing, “Content is the King”. No one in this world wants to read some things that has no value or something which they know already. Try to get the best out of you in this crucial phase which is at the beginning. Don’t write something that’s published again and again. Try to write something unique, something innovative so that people expect more and more out of you in coming days.

Let the World know about your blog

1.Use Social Bookmarking Websites:

What are social bookmarking websites like facebook for? Social Interaction, isn't it? So get the people know that is something social about you. Lots of you will be having an account on social bookmarking websites,right? Just leave a status that ‘You are thinking about your next post’s title’ and leave a link of your blog. Obviously people like to know what their friends are better at, let them know. There are loads of social bookmarking sites, Don’t keep on dropping a status at each of them, instead you can use the service of www.ping.fm which leaves same status at all these websites. You can go further by creating a Fan Page of your blog at these sites and make your blog more ‘Social Friendly’.

2.Submit your blog to some reputed directories

Personally, I don't think you will get traffic to your blog through this technique, but it is helpful from the SEO point of view if your blog is featured in one of those directories. Remember A Backlink from a high reputed website means a recommendation from him to your blog, So backlinks are important. Try to get as many backlinks as you can and see your blog rising up in terms of search engines.TechGyo has a list of some useful directories you can submit to. Don't submit your blog to too many directories. It will be a waste of time.

3.Start Writing Guest Posts

Many big blogs, these days, offer guest posting for readers and provide them with a link back. There are a huge number of readers who read these big blogs. Once they read your post, they surely will click on your link and will read your blog. Write a quality guest post so that readers can know that ‘there is some potential in this blogger’ . If they find some quality content in your blog, They surely will subscribe to your blog. I subscribe to a lot of feeds wherever I find quality. No one never wants to miss a such a quality article, right? So get the advantage of guest posting. Remember one thing, writing guest posts does not mean writing post at some random blog. Find a reputed blog in your niche(which writes on the same topic) and write a guest post for them.

4.Attract the Search engines

Search engines always are in search for new and unique content. So write a “SEO optimised effective post” and lure them to your blog. I will write sometime ahead on ‘How to write a SEO optimised post’?. For now write unique content and every time you write a post, inform search engines that they can find something new in my blog through pings. After you write a post, go to www.pingomatic.com type in your blog URL and feed URL, check all the services and ping it. It informs search engine about your new content.

5.Write a Controversial Topic

This is really a effective way of generating topic, but is risky too. Suppose that your are blogging about Physics(My fav Subject), you would write something like “How sad it is to know that Newton derived a wrong equation to measure the speed of sound” . What it does is gets more people to indulge in the discussion, more comments, more reputation in eyes of google and more ranking.

5.Don’t decrease the frequency of your blog posts.

Suppose you are writing a new article for every three days, some subscribers expect a new content that day. I check for some of the blogs very periodically who post very frequently. If I find, the content not updated, I come to check rarely. Even if you can’t write a post, write a small post that you are active and will post at this time. If you are taking long breaks. Put a notice on the blog that you have some work, you are busy till so and so day, So come back on that day for new content. This makes the readers believe that you are inactive. Look at the widget on right side, It says, “You can find new content on every Saturday”. You can also put a notice like that to get your readers known about updation of your blog. This is biggest problem I have found with bloggers that they dont update frequently.

10 Things To Do Before You Write Your First Post . . .

I recently posted about Choosing a suitable Blogging platform according to your needs and Starting a new Blog with Blogger. What Next?. I want to guide you through out the whole process of blogging. Therefore I am writing all the posts sequentially as you do.

The most common mistake that most bloggers do is that they start a blog and they start writing about their own topics before some preparation . You should first set up a nice environment for yourself before you start writing. So, What are the things you need to do after you launch a blog? I have noted down some important points that you must do. Read ahead.

Before Writing My First Post . . .

1.Be in a POSITIVE FRAME OF MIND and BE OPTIMISTIC about your new blog

This is very important for a new blogger. I am sure that you will have started your blog with some hopes and expectations,right? Feel inside yourself that “You are going to succeed and your expectations will come true”. Before starting a blog, Remember that blogging is not a easy task and you have to spend considerate amount of time for your blog. I would suggest you to kick off your blog at weekends or when you get long holidays, because once you start it, its a time consuming process. After you have set your blog on the right track, you can relax as you only have to write quality content after that.

2.Choose the Right Template for your Blog

Assume that you have started writing posts before customising the templates, You tell your friends about your blog and they start visiting your blog. They can read the content that you have presented, but they will not have a good impression about your blog. Remember a saying ? : “First Impression is the best impression”. So first impression of a visitor is very important. Everyone hates to read a blog which is not well designed, isn't it ? So First step is to customise the given template or choose a third party template as I am using. Customised template does not mean a flashy, dark coloured, ugly designed template. Choose a simple template that suits your niche the best. Suppose you are blogging about travel or places, you would choose a template accordingly. I would suggest the themes at www.btemplates.com to be better than custom blogger templates. Google for templates and you will find tons of them. So, find a nice template out there and get a new look for your blog. Don’t forget to tweak the themes according to the instructions provided.

3.Design a Logo and a Header for your blog.

This is also pretty important to attract you first time readers and get them a nice impression in their view. You dont have to be a photoshop pro in order to design a header and a logo. Its pretty simple if you are a regular computer user. Collect some copyright free images from the web and start editing and adding your own colours to it. You can use a simple editor like GIMP for such purposes. Upload them and look at your own blog again, Does it look professional ?

4.Add All the essential widgets that are useful for your blog.

This is very much self explanatory. If you have logged into blogger for atleast for one time, you will know what widgets are? Do place the right widgets at the right places so that nothing in your blog looks weird. You can refer to Blogger support here for the answer.

5.Register Yourself for feedburner feed service.

A newbie might not know what feedburner or a feed is? You can simply understand that it’s a service through which readers can subscribe to your blog. 6.Add A Favicon for your Blog.

Favicon is that little icon that appears at the top on the menu bar of the browser. Notice a custom blogger favicon for my blog. I have not changed it since I blog about blogger tricks and I prefer not to change. But for you, adding a favicon is good as it looks really nice. Read more about favicon and usage of it here.This is pretty much OK for good looks and design. Now you are ready to GO!, Start writing your first post!

7.Introduce Yourself to readers in your first Post

Remember a old saying? “A Good start is half the job done” . I would suggest to have a nice little celebration at the launch of your blog. What I mean is, don't start writing straight away for your chosen niche. Have a nice post title like “Launch of ‘so and so blog’ – An Introduction” and introduce yourselves to people. Look at my first post. Just tell them why are you writing about ‘so and so topic’ . Tell what your ambitions are? Request them to share your blog. This will make the readers more excited about your next post because they have heard about you, your experience and your introduction, right?

8. Tell your friends about your blog

After you have introduced and you have written about your new blogging passion, you want people to read your first post , right? So, tell your friends about your new blog, Let them read it and spread it among more people. This part of paragraph is self explanatory, so I would not write more about this.

9.Submit your blog to Search engines

Well, Here comes the actual part which i am supposed to tell. You have your blog and don't you want to inform search engines about it? It will help search engines find you blog and crawl the index of your site and that’s why I said write a good first post. Write your second post completely related to your blog title and description. Include some keywords with which you have described your blog so that search engines find some related and quality content. Even good impression to search engines is Important! Brand Name “Google”	People like Google a lot.Be it whatever service Search engine, Email service, Apps, Browser, and whatever else Google has produced. Everything has its own quality and people favour it	Wordpress offers no other service other than Blogging platform : (. I dont think that it is a hindrance though.
Templates	You literally get thousands of free high quality and customised themes for Blogger, Although, They are all third party themes.	Yes, Wordpress is not behind too.You get thousands of templates highly stylised and created by Wordpress. I think Wordpress is a winner in this prospect, Because you can use any web template supported by PHP but again you have to spend for it.
Online Tutorials	There are lots and lots of blogger tutorials who will be guiding you throughout your blogging career including the official blogger support. And of course I am also one of them. Blogger is way ahead of wordpress in this matter.	I think wordpress is behind blogger in this matter. There are guiders for you in wordpress, but when compared to blogger, The number is very less.
HTML Based	This is the most important reason why i choose Blogger. HTML is a very simple mark-up language.With a little bit of HTML and CSS, You can customise you Blog a lot! You are the ‘BIGG BOSS’ of your Blog. You can choose how you blog should look like and customise according to your likes.	Wordpress supports PHP, Which is a more difficult language when compared. Although it can also be tweaked according to your needs.
Widgets	Blogger has limited widgets offered officially, And you have to migrate for third party widgets and blogs for this.	Wordpress offers a good numbers of plugins(same as widgets). Whatever you want, you have a plugin ready for That ! And they are all easy to add.
Advertising	As i said, You are the BIG BOSS of your Blog in Blogger. You have the choice to add lots of ad services. Some of them include Google, ADsense, AdBrite, BuySellAds, Chitika, Kontera and more. . .	Wordpress has its own Advertising policy. You have to abide it. I think you can only add a reference link of amazon as an ad.
Up Time	Blogger is up for 99.9% of time. Stats show that blogger has never been down over a last few years,Because it is hosted on Google servers and it also ensures a better security to your account.	According to stats, Wordpress is reported to be down at some times. If you are ready to empty you pockets for hosting, you don't have worry about this.
Importing Blogs	Only from Blogger to Blogger.	From any Platform to any other Platform.
Image Hosting	Only 1GB of Image can be hosted on Blogger, That’s not less, It takes years to complete.	Unlimited!!!. If you have a host.
SEO	I think one cannot compare both of them because both of them are winners in their own prospect.	Same

For me, Blogger is much much more better than Wordpress. I have mentioned some important features of both of them. You have the freedom to choose any one of them, But think several times before you choose. If you ask any professional blogger, He may say that “Blogger is Better” or “Wordpress is better”.But ultimately it comes down to you to whom it matters the most. Go to Blogger, view it features and similarly for wordpress. “Choose the one which suits you the best” . I favour blogger, What do you prefer and why ? Creating A Blog With Blogger–How To

As you all know, I have just started blogging on my new blog “Enhance Blogger”. I was thinking what to write my first post about? What better than beginning to start a blog, its pretty simple anyways, I am going to show you how to start a blog with blogger. So, Lets start.

First up, you need a gmail account, Dont Have yet, Get one at www.gmail.com . Then, Login with your gmail account into blogger you will see a interface like this one.

Click on “Create a Blog”

Enter the fields as shown in the screenshot

Click on Continue. Then you have successfully created a blog!

This is a pretty simple tutorial. I will come up with advance ones in coming days. Create a vlog, Play with it, its really fun to be in blogosphere. Good Night for today. . .

Starting Enhance Blogger–An Introductory Post

Hello Friends, This is Amit MB kick starting my new blog “Enhance Blogger”. As the name suggests, it will be a blog full of Tricks and Tips related to Blogger – A Complete guide. From Today I will be posting various tweaks, HTML, CSS Tricks and more that can help enhance the look and structure of your blog. You may know, I started by blogging journey with PC Tricks and Hacks.
The journey has been good and an eye opener for me. Why I say this is, I knew a few computer tricks that I wanted to share with you guys. I had several problems in making the blog attractive and more appealing to people. I noticed that blogger is not a platform on which you can fulfil your needs by the services that blogger provides .Several of you people may have chosen other blogging platforms like Wordpress and Typepad because of ‘lack of customisation’ provided by blogger. But I feel(of course, many of you may, too) that blogger is still the best platform on which you can blog on. Why? I will write a exclusive post on why I choose blogger over any other platform. As I was telling, I had to refer to many of ‘blogger tricks’ websites and do my own customisation and still I was not satisfied. So I decided to learn HTML, CSS and Javascript, the markup languages which blogger supports. I had time in my holidays and i learnt them (i could not learn advanced javascript though) and learnt how easy it was to make a blog customisable according to your needs.
Then, I also thought of thousand bloggers who might be having same barriers as I had. Therefore I decide to blog exclusively only on blogger tricks and customisations . So this is a short description of “why I choose to write this blog?”.
