Choose Your Witch

The Dark Lady & The White Witch
Cher & Stevie Nicks

Today it's the battle of the witches, in one corner we have The Dark Lady, Cher and in the other corner we have The White Witch, Stevie Nicks.

Which witch is your choice. This one is tough for me as I love them both for various and different reasons. This being stated I will not wimp out and call it a draw I will actually choose one.

In terms of who has had the bigger influence on my life and which one's music has resonated with me most...The White Witch, Stevie Nicks is my witch of choice.

Which witch do you choose?

4 more days until Halloween...

Listen Closely

Last night was the Day of the Dead celebration at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, CA.

Here's what you need to know about it:

Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos or Día de los Muertos) is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated primarily on November 1 and 2 to honor and welcome back the souls of deceased family members and friends.

I especially loved this tribute to beloved pets....Pet Sematary indeed

"Under the arc of a weather stain boardsAncient goblins and warlordsCome out of the ground, not making a soundThe smell of death is all around

And the night when the cold wind blowsNo one cares, nobody knows

"Knucks"

2026-10-24T05:23:33.130-07:00

Integra Pink
Photo: Rick Perez

Southern California's genre-defying Integra Pink have officially released their new full-length album, Knucks, out today via Futureless. Pulling from punk, cumbia, alternative rock, new wave, hardcore and beyond, the album brings together the band's wide-ranging musical influences, restless creativity and willingness to take their sound in unexpected directions.

Arriving on the heels of a string of singles that have earned praise from independent music outlets and support from Los Angeles' influential KCRW, Knucks captures a band determined to follow its own instincts rather than stick to any particular formula.

The album's latest focus track, “Great Responsibility,” arrives alongside the full release, offering listeners another entry point into Integra Pink's ever-expanding musical world. Like much of the band's output, the song is part of a larger creative approach that embraces experimentation, unexpected influences and the freedom to move between musical styles.

Of the track front man Leo Mendez says, “If I were to write and put out one more song and just retire from music, I think "Great Responsibility" would be that song. To me, it’s about the balance of all the things I want in life and that internal struggle of wondering if I’m doing the right thing. I have personal goals that I want to reach but I also can’t live without music and having that outlet. That conflict takes a toll on me sometimes. I feel like this is the kinda song Peter Parker would’ve written in Spider Man 2. “

Previous singles have demonstrated just how far the band's interests stretch. “Spiderman Piñata” brought together cumbia, disco and hardcore punk while confronting themes of immigration and hypocrisy. “CURBSTOMP” explored the many forms of violence and the consequences of failing to recognize and resist them, while “1999” took a more reflective turn, examining the bittersweet experience of meeting the right person at the wrong time.

Most recently, “PINK NOKIA” explored the complexities of relationships and communication through the lens of early-2000s cellphone culture, using the era's colorful and highly personalized phones as a metaphor for how differently people connect.

Together, these releases offer a glimpse into the creative range that defines Knucks, where contrasting musical ideas and personal perspectives coexist without the need to fit neatly into one genre.

The band's distinctive approach has not gone unnoticed. Remezcla praised their sound as “alternative cumbia-goes-punk,” highlighting the group's mischievous energy and ability to pull together contrasting rhythms and influences. RØKKR described their music as “a beautifully chaotic blend that uses every beat to deliver its message like a punch to the face.”

Formed in Southern California in 2022, Integra Pink consists of Leo Mendez (vocals, guitar), Bardo Mendez (vocals, guitar), Nick Jauregui (drums) and Roman De La Fuente (bass). Drawing from their different musical backgrounds, the four musicians have developed a sound that reflects their shared appreciation for punk's urgency, Latin rhythms, alternative music and the possibilities that come from combining seemingly unrelated influences.

That adventurous spirit carries over to their live performances, which have helped establish the band as a formidable presence in Southern California's underground music scene. Having performed at venues including The Roxy, Lodge Room and Constellation Room, Integra Pink have built a loyal following through high-energy shows and an unmistakable DIY approach. Their ongoing PinkTv series, documenting the band's behind-the-scenes antics through a VHS camcorder, offers another window into their personality and creative world.

With Knucks now available, Integra Pink are taking that energy beyond Southern California. Following a recent run of shows with Drag Talk and Filth Is Eternal, the band will head across the country for a series of dates supporting Archer Oh, beginning October 29 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The upcoming run also includes a November 5 stop in Brooklyn with Warphole and The Shinning Hours.

For Integra Pink, Knucks represents another step in a musical journey that continues to grow more adventurous with each release. From politically charged punk to unexpected rhythmic detours and moments of personal reflection, the album reflects four musicians exploring just how much ground they can cover together.

I Give In To Sin
Mark Patton & Freddy Krueger

Freddy & Jesse sitting in a dream...

Remember the heavily gay subtext of A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge? Of course you do it's notoriety has only increased with time.

Well here's a shot of the betrothed couple Jesse Walsh (Mark Patton) & Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund)

I rewatched this not too long ago for the first time since it came out and I must say I'm surprised that it even got made. Honestly I know I referred to the gay elements in it as subtext, but let's face it there was nothing subtle about it.

Mark Patton does make a great Scream Queen and Robert Englund will always be Freddy Krueger no matter who else may play him in future endeavors.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

In an otherwise conservative town, this unconventional romance sparks outrage, jealousy and chaos."

Kylie Minogue & Nick Cave

One of my favorite duets is Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue "Where The Wild Roses Grow" off of his brilliant 1996 album Murder Ballads (Yes, I have it.)

The concept for the album goes like this:

"As a traditional musical genre, murder ballads date back to 17th-century Europe, where street singers and broadside ballads functioned as early forms of crime reporting or "oral tabloids" detailing real or fictional crimes of passion."

I won't give away any of the story you can cut to the video and enjoy it after the jump!

Boo! Hello Minions! As you know it's my favorite time of the year October, not least because of Halloween happening all month long. I am a hard one to give a good scare to, or to get creeped out over something, But it does happen on occasion.

Thus the photo above is a homage to Robert Blake as "Mystery Man" in David Lynch's Lost Highway. Every time he appeared on screen a sense of dread and fear washed over me. It was one of those lightning in a bottle experiences, the images of him still haunt me to this day. That's all...

Just found out that female penguins will exchange sex for nice rocks. So if you're having a sh!t day, just remember that hooker penguins exist

Did one of those which Halloween character are you things online. Turns out I'm Annabelle, go figure

Hitting the 50th Anniversary Screening of Carrie at Hollywood Forever Cemetery this Saturday. Can't wait to see the ending in that setting! IYKYK!!!

I love how in horror movies the person yells out "Hello?" as if the killer is gonna yell out, "In the kitchen, want a sandwich?"

BTW if you believe forcing God into schools will improve morality, I'm gonna need you to explain why it didn't work in your church...I'm waiting!!!

Saw a great indie revenge film called Violation on Tubi. It's definitely has it's own unique POV and well worth watching.

While Googling, very few letters are as important as the "R" in Gary Oldman, think about it, but not too much

Did you know Charles Manson and Ted Bundy were lovers on the Titanic, it's true - Ryan Murphy, probably

Woman Crush of the Week - The Queen of Spooky Season Sarah Michelle Gellar not just for Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Helen Shivers from I Know What You Did Last Summer is iconic as well. Were not worthy!

The only difference between "Religion" and "Superstition" is the spelling. The more you know.

Ring My Bell
Paris Hilton

Today is National Taco Day...and in the immortal words of Paris Hilton "That's Hot"

See Paris imbibing in my favorite fast food chain Taco Bell. "Yes" I said The Bell is my favorite on the go thing to grab and eat. Fight me, or not.

However if I'm up for something that takes minimal preparation there's also my go to Home State on Hollywood Blvd.

That's all.

"We're going to the fair,
To see a señorita
With a tacos in her hair"

Sissy Spacek
On The Set Of
"Carrie"

Let's kick off the week with a BTS (behind the scenes) photo of Sissy Spacek on the set of Brian DePalma's Carrie.

As you can see pig's blood becomes Sissy, as she is obviously between takes of the notorious prom scene.

Carrie is one of my favorite films and I will be attending the 50th Anniversary Screening of it this Saturday at Hollywood Forever Cemetery...can't wait!

Have a terrific week.
