According to local news reports, the 40-year-old 90′s R&B singer walked into the Harris County Sheriff Dept. building and told them his wife was dead in their Houston, TX apartment and he needed a lawyer.

Police officers force themselves in the apartment, where they found Russell's wife — 24-year-old Catherine Martinez (former fitness model and inspiring boxer) — lying dead under a blanket on the living room floor. She’d suffered multiple stab wounds as well as blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.

'Real Housewives Of Atlanta' husband Apollo Nida sentenced to 8 years ... Will Phaedra Parks wait on him ?

2014-07-09T08:01:00.006-04:00

Apollo Nida, husband of "Real Housewives of Atlanta" co-star Phaedra Parks, is headed to prison for eight years on fraud charges.

Apollo was arrested in January and pleaded guilty in May to charges in a fraud scheme that federal prosecutors say stole millions of dollars from at least 50 people over four years. Nida created two fake collection companies to gather personal information used to steal victims' identities, U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said after his sentencing in Atlanta. He used the information to get fraudulent auto loans in the names of his victims, according to the criminal complaint.

A hearing on July 17 will determine how much restitution Nida must pay to his victims.

Nida, 35, must serve five years under parole supervision after he completes his eight years in a federal prison, U.S. District Court Judge Charles A. Pannell, Jr. ordered during sentencing Tuesday.

He was busted after a year-long investigation by the U.S. Secret Service.

"Today's sentencing exemplifies impartial justice regardless of economic class or perceived celebrity status," U.S. Secret Service Special Agent Reginald Moore said. "Nida's sentence should be an eye-opener for other like-minded criminals who scheme to steal victims' identities, defraud them and ignore the consequences of their actions."

Was Phadrea in court when Apollo was sentenced ? Word is that Phaedra was on vacation in Mexico. According to her instagram, Apollo's court case was far from her mind. (below) Is this marriage over ? Will Phaedra wait 8 years for Apollo release or will she wait 5 or so years in case he is released early ? Only time will tell ! We wish them well, it's sad to see another family broken up.

Video: Officer Beats Woman on LA Freeway

2014-07-07T15:00:00.000-04:00

Police Brutality never died ! Woman brutality beat for allegedly trying to disrupt traffic, according to LOS Angles Associated Press :

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The California Highway Patrol has vowed to carry out a thorough investigation after a video emerged of one of its officers repeatedly punching a woman he had pinned down on the side of a Los Angeles freeway.

The woman had been walking on Interstate 10 west of downtown Los Angeles, endangering herself and people in traffic, and the officer was trying to restrain her, CHP Assistant Chief Chris O’Quinn said at a news conference. O’Quinn said the woman had begun walking off the freeway but returned when the confrontation occurred.

The video shows the woman struggling and trying to sit up while the officer punches her in the face and head until an off-duty law enforcement officer appears and helps him handcuff her.
Passing Driver David Diaz recorded the Tuesday incident and provided it to media outlets including The Associated Press. He told the AP in a phone interview Friday that he arrived as the woman was walking off the freeway. He said she turned around only after the officer shouted something to her.
“He agitated the situation more than helped it,” said Diaz, who started filming soon after.
Los Angeles attorney Caree Harper said the woman’s family wants authorities held accountable for “beating a great-grandmother in broad daylight.”
