INFO:
A proud, born-and-bred Jersey girl, Stephanie Plum's got plenty of attitude, even if she's been out of work for the last six months and just lost her car to a debt collector. Desperate for some fast cash, Stephanie turns to her last resort: convincing her sleazy cousin to give her a job at his bail bonding company...as a recovery agent. True, she doesn't even own a pair of handcuffs and her weapon of choice is pepper spray, but that doesn't stop Stephanie from taking on Vinny's biggest bail-jumper: former vice cop and murder suspect Joe Morelli - yup, the same sexy, irresistible Joe Morelli who seduced and dumped her back in high school. -- (C) Lionsgate

Long Time No Post (2011 in review)

2011-12-23T23:03:00.000-08:00

Well its basically been a year with no reviews, so instead of reviewing a ton of individual movies i decided to wrap up the underwhelming 2011 in film with one giant post highlight a few of my favorites.

First up, in no particular order is WARRIOR. Now this is one off, if not my favorite movie of the year, warrior tells the story, of two estranged brothers (Tom Hardy/ Joel Edgerton) each respectively training for the worlds biggest mma tournament. The premises sounds like a typical Spike tv beat emup, but the amazing performances all round (Nick Nolte really shines as the mens ex-alcoholic father ) really brings the audience in to care about the characters. Another thing that makes this movie shine is the way its shot, at times i felt like i was watching at documentary, and they must of trained like hell cause the fights look and feel real. this movie is a much watch for all fans of the UFC and really anyone. 8 Out Of 10.

Next up is DRIVE, this movie is beautiful, throwing you from INTENSE driving scenes to amazingly acted calm scenes between the movies leads ( Ryan Gosling/Carey Mulligan) back to ultra violent action, as the driver (Gosling) clashes with a group of bandits lead by the real show stealer Bernie Rose (Albert Brooks). This movie is a wild ride, that was refreshing to see in a summer full of stinkers, Backed up a amazing soundtrack and probably the best directing this year this movie is a must see. 9 Out of 10.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes was a movie i frankly thought would suck, so when i went to based solely on having nothing better to do i was blown away by how good it was all round. Not a perfect movie by any means (story lacked due to my guess time restraints) it is a really fun movie that had me engaged from the start. The movie is essentially about a smart monkey Caesar (Andy Serkis) whom after finding his people and place at a run down animal sanctuary leads more smart apes on a revaluation,i know sounds dumb, but this movie is a treat and gets my recommendation alone due to THE best scene in a movie all year ("NOOOOOOOOOO"). i would touch on the acting and directing but why bother this is a fun movie with shockingly cool monkeys. 7 out of 10.

Those were really the 3 stand outs this year for me (i found Tree of Life, i dont know, too much) but others that i would recommend included, Fright Night, Attack the Block, X-Men First Class, Moneyball, Super 8 and Your Highness. This year (so far still got alot to watch) has been mediocre compared to last years power house, lucky 2012 is shaping up to be a big one. With movies like The Hobbit part one, The Dark Knight Rises and Prometheus all looking spectacular im exited.

Long Time .... No Review

2011-04-12T20:32:00.000-07:00

Watch the trailer

Keen Readers of my blog may have noticed that its been a few months since ive reviewed a movie, this is because i am flat broke, so to counter act the no reviews i shall be post more news and previews, because they are cheap ( free infarct). As well as been broke there are also like no decent looking movies out for what seems like the entire year, with the exception of "The Tree Of Life" (lft) Witch i have literally no clue what its about. The official premise being -a very powerful movie about memories, emotions, and our place in the world. So as you can tell very little is know about it, other than a few things including, Brad Pitt and Sean Pean are in it, and there's Dinosaurs. So im totally sold, from the trailer alone this looks like a masterpiece. Other than that this year looks pretty bland for films, being that theres 27 squeals or remakes this year you could say 2011 is the year of unoriginality. Heres hoping that something unannounced and awesome comes out..... or that one of the 27 franchise films is decent.

I thought since i talked about it in high regard that i might as well add the tree of life trailer to save people the trouble. If this movie ends up sucking im going to be sad

X-Men First Class

2011-02-13T10:09:00.000-08:00

If you haven't seen it the X-Men trilogy prequel First class's trailer has been released on the net. I think it looks good but the jury is still out. Micheal Fassbender as Magneto looks really good though ill say that

The Rite

2011-01-31T21:34:00.000-08:00

The Rite is set in current day Roma where a "on the fence" priest in training is sent to become a exorcist, he seems to fight the church and doubt religion so they send him to a unorthodox priest, where he learns that the only way to defeat the devil is to believe in him. As a horror movie "The Rite" falls short with to few scares and honestly way to much religious propaganda. (far to many time are the digs about atheists being to scared to believe and even if u dont believe its still there ) Though you can class this as a religious horror, it sometimes comes off much to strong as a Be a priest commercial. If you enjoy the mythology of the christian faith then the story is rather solid, with the lots of little references to demonology. Where this movie really shines thought is the preformace of Anthony Hopkins who is just all around excellent as ever, be it from the one hundred percent believable pries to when (kinda Spoilers) hes possessed by the devil, you will enjoy it all. To sum up the movie was a slow at times, not scary, but still kinda fun, well acted and the story was at least enjoyable. For this one id say if you have nothing better to do or wanna see a movie but dont care if its a 10 go see this, but dont rush.

The Green Hornet

2011-01-22T17:43:00.000-08:00

First of all id like to say, go see this movie its fun and entertaining everything you want a movie to be, its defiently a good way to waste a couple of hours. Nothing very engaging here (this movie wont challenge you)but for a superhero movie that stays grounded in reality its great. So as for story we got Seth Rogan as a rich boy lay about turned clumsy crime fighter, his side kick Jay Chou, the ass kicking super mechanic/barista and finally the king of crime LA Chris Waltz. Everyone plays there roles wonderfully, Mr.Waltz standing out of course, now hes usually a serious actor (Inglorious Bastards) but he can pull of funny as well (the opening with him and James Franco is hilarious). The movie is fast paced and fun to watch, the comedic timing is usually there and as i said before its alot of fun. SO if u got if your bored one night and wanna kill some time with a fun movie id defiantly recommend this. The only downsides being its kinda rude (for kids) and when i saw it not many people were laughing (other than me and a couple of other people) so i dont know that might be a bad sign.... Side note, Cameron Diaz hasn't been hot for like 6 years she need to give it up, she totally unbelievable as the sexy secretary who unknowingly helps them out. It really took away from the movie for me (the fuck is wrong with her upper lip???)

Season of the Witch

2011-01-20T16:48:00.000-08:00

OH BOY

Where do i start? First of all id like to give somewhat of a shout out to Ron Pearlman hes a wonderful actor and highly underrated and suffers for this by having to take movies like this one here... Season of the Witch. For those of you who dont know S.O.T.W is about this "Knight" and his buddy who abandon the crusades for some stupid reason and go to Syria (the desert country by Israel) witch looks alot like medieval France for the weirdest reason, there they find a castle (again odd), inside said castle is a witch, they gotta get witch to some temple blah blah blah. To put it bluntly this movie is COMPLETE shit, the story is so cut and paste from al bunch of other movies its ridiculous, the puns and "tough guy" lines Nic Cage (more on him later ) sputters through out are dam right hard to watch. The directing in this movie is so dam lazy it almost laughable, every time they need a break in the "dialogue" or the "action" they cut to a wide sweeping shot with classical music playing (done right in the LOTR movies) this happens AT LEAST 15 times through out. On to the "acting" as i said before Ron Pearlman does his best with what hes got and i just feel sorry for him. The rest of the cast however are terrible, all supporting roles are filled by people whom just phone the bullshit in (and so they should) the real diarrhea icing on this shit cake is, of course Nic Cage. Now other than his stellar performance in Lord of War, id probably say nic cage is the WORST leading man off all time, his performance in this however is probably his worst yet. He is so unbelievable as this bad ass knight, or what ever hes trying to be in this that it made me laugh pretty much the whole movie and dam right cheer when he died in the end. Oh whoops Spoilers, honestly though if you were looking forward to seeing this and i just ruined it, you are whats wrong with this world. Id think of some positives, maybe that with better actors and better movie maker this could of been a kinda ok movie, but that's just ridiculous

True Grit

2011-01-20T02:29:00.001-08:00

True Grit
True grit is the latest and possibly greatest from the genius Coen brothers (No country for old men, The Big Lewbowski ). This time around the Brothers take us to the wild west around the turn of the century, where we meet Mattie Ross (Elizabeth Marvel) looking for revenge against her fathers killer (Josh Brolin). She enlists the help of harden US Marshall Rooster Cogburn, and a young Texas ranger (Matt Damon), the bad of rag tag law makers set out into Indian country to bring some justice. Now that's the basic premise seems kinda cut and dry on paper, but let me tell you, this movie is a visual treat, beautifully shot by the Coens and the cinematography is just sublime, you will truly be transported to the west. On to the performances, all three of the lead (Marvel, Bridges, Damon) bring there A game to this, making you truly believe the characters. Damon and Bridges chemistry is amazing bring genuinely funny moments to this film. Not that its a comedy by any means, when this film gets violent its gets VIOLENT, witch will please some. Now id usually put downsides but this movie was so well made and acted i cant think of any, even there small roles were filled by masters of the craft. Final thoughts, the mix of great directors and actors transports you into the world of the wild west, the way its meant to be seen. I cant recommend this movie more.

The Kings Speech
Now after seeing Colin Firth win all the awards for Best Actor i went into this movie with high hopes, and thankfully was not disappointed, he was amazing in it. For those of you who dont no its about King George VI . Now king George has a bit of a problem, hes got a terrible speech impediment. So the majority of the movie is him learning to speak... along with dealing with childhood trauma, living up to his fathers image and not wanting to be king..... OH and world war bloody 2 . The movie is wonderfully directed and Wonderfully acted, both Firth and Helena Bonham Carter shine as the king and queen respectively. Now i know many people might stray away from this kinda period piece, BUT as many of this things do, theirs alot of morals and the like (couple of funny parts mixed in to). Making this a heartfelt engaging movie. and Spoilers if ur not smiling big at the final speech, then u have no soul. The downsides being that its a bit slow at timees, and i couldn't tell that Geoffrey Rush was Australian (probably why he had to keep reminding us). On a personal note i believe that the movie taking place in England and me being English added to the factor of me liking it, any movie taking place in are finest hour gets me going.
