The last time I published anything regularly was 2015.

It's funny how history works. Because the US is in a similar (but worse) situation than it was back then. Though, in contrast, at that time I was most creative. I was blogging, painting, drawing and writing regularly. I am getting back in to that.

I have posted previews of blogs I plan on writing, and ideas I have yet to flesh out in their entirety. Needless to say, there are many topics which I am looking forward to elaborating on regarding art, society and the horrors ™️. Also, wrestling. Which is a new subject that I have not posted about in long form.

At minimum, one blog will be posted per week. Google says that blogging is a dying artform and IT people are saying that Google stacks use is shrinking due to AI and the lack of blogs and other independent websites and creations generally not being used.

I am going to buck the trend and write.

In my last video, we explored how the 2020s mirror the contraction and chaos of the medieval era. But history doesn't stop at the Dark Ages. Today, we’re looking ahead to the 2030s, a decade with the potential for a true Second Renaissance. What if bad thing not forever and good thing actually happen???

From the "re-spatialization" of the internet to the "Post-Cringe" era of new sincerity, we are seeing the exact same cultural catalysts that sparked 15th-century Florence. We discuss why AI is our modern "Printing Press," how "Corporate Latin" is being replaced by authentic vernaculars, and why the "Enshittification" of the economy might actually lead to a return of quality, ownership, and Civic Humanism."
<span style="font-size: 14px; Matt studied and attained his BA from the American Academy of Art. He then furthered his study and mastery of visionary art in Venice in 2012. Learning the art of miche and well as studying next to some visionary arts heavyweights such as Amanda Sage, Daniel Mirante, and Maura Holden.

Matts paintings are generally very dimensional and fluid. They express contemplation as well as a very zen approach in how he paints. Each painting is swirling, deep and vibrant with color and texture. You can really see how he applies the classic italian techniques to these thoughtful compositions.
Krampus is one such film, in that it has revived and breathed life BACK in to the "creature feature" style horror film. Back in the eighties and early nineties, creature feature horror films were very popular, as was dancing the line between horror and comedy in such films.

Films such as Chucky, Gremlins, Spawn and Dream Master are examples of films that relied heavily on animatronic creatures, heavy make up and what is now considered "old school" effects to create the main creature or little creatures that made these movies so great. Krampus showed so much care and details in its creatures, and used an innovative blend of animatronics, digital art, and puppetry to create the creatures that made the film. Kudos to the artists who created these creatures!

Krampus opens with a black Friday montage of people tackling each other over material things in a mall. While comical, it also makes a great commentary about the season losing its meaning to material things and selfish intentions. The movie then goes on to introduce the family, where Toni Collete of "The United States of Tara" is the perfectionist mother of two kids, one a teen, and another a young child of about 10 or so. The family is of German descent, and has the German grandmother residing with them. This story is based upon the German fairy tales of Christmas, and the creatures have a heavy Kinder style to them.

Every year, the family hosts their cousins. The cousins include two girls and a boy. The father of that family is a typical red neck, and of course, there is disagreements and conflict. In the midst of the holiday madness, the young boy who is the main character wishes for his family to disappear.

Soon, an impossibly treacherous winter storm blows in. Power goes out. The town grows silent and white. People start disappearing. During this time you see glimpses of the creatures. Cell phones don't work, regular phones don't work. One by one, everyone in the family disappears, due the creatures.

These creatures, while being cute and Christmasy, are also horrific. Imagine, evil gingerbread men and Germanic porcelain dolls coming to life, and wielding weapons. Visualize a giant jack in the box, that eats people. All of this in a menacing confer forest, while dark Christmas carols drone in background.

In my opinion, the best part of the movie was the pagan ritual. You get to see all the creatures in their twisted glory. The blank faced elves, the wicked cookies, and the one and only Krampus. The movie depicted Krampus more like the Germanic Santa decorations than the pagan fairy tale depictions.

In the end, the film finalizes itself somewhat stereotypically. Everyone wakes up from a dream. It's Christmas morning. It's snowing, and merry, and bright. Everyone is opening gifts, drinking cocoa and is happy.

The thing that I enjoyed the most about this movie, aside from the great animatronics and creature art, was the switch of formats almost halfway through. In the middle of the movie there is a great 3D animated short that illustrates one of the characters stories. It is cute, imaginative, and a great way to divide the story up.

In conclusion, Krampus will become a camp classic. There is just so much greatness to the art and acting that you could see people waiting for it to come on as a Christmas special on a horror channel or something. It really is a great film. Go check it out!

Krampus - Official trailer 2015:

The aesthetic of this years burn teetered on the edge of mystical and mischievous. The theme of this years festival was "The Carnival Mirrors". True to the theme, the art explored the range of human emotion and contemplation with childlike wonder, and deep reflection. Each art piece expressing impossible complexity and meaning, in deep contrast with the harsh otherwise empty desert. The Burning Man festival is held in Black Rock City, Nevada. It is within the heart of the desert and far away from any city or town, or signs of humanity in general. This year, Entheo Zine explores five of the most thought provoking pieces at the event.

HYBYCOZO-"DEEP THOUGHT"

Hybycozo's "Deep Thought" project was a beautiful, intracatley crafted 3D shape constructed of sixty gold laser cut filigreed panels. The artists of the complex and contemplative refuge of sacred geometry are Serge Beaulieu and Yelena Filipchuck. The couple had a design at Burning Man last year as well. This years design crowdfunded, and each donation had a promise of a COZO gift. Many patrons who donated got to get a piece of the COZO art in the form of jewelry, art prints and miniture sculptures.

ALEXANDER MILOV-"LOVE"

Milov's moving sculpture was one that depicted the struggle of communication beyond our limitations. The sculpture depicted two adults, constructed of metal cage structure, with their backs turned to each other in pained anguish. Within the cage person, a small child, constructed of glowing white. The two children within reached out to touch each other, and yearned to speak. Their fingers almost touching. Since the burn, this image has gone viral, and certainly will become yet another iconic art piece of Burning Man.

KEVIN CLARK- "MEDUSA MADNESS"

Clark's amazing and intricate sculpture was an enormous fire breathing spectacle that was simply breathtaking to behold. Playing with the themes of vanity, danger and mythos, Kevin Clark's sculpture was a grand point of interest on the playa.

MARCOS COCHRANE-"R-EVOLUTION"

Cochrane's sculpture, named Deja Solis, was the final of a three part series that was displayed at prior burns. Deja Solis is a gargantuan figure emoting different themes. The sculpture triptych, which includes the iconic "Bliss Dance" (highlighted as last years viral image from Burning Man) and "Truth is Beauty". R-Evolution depicts a women, standing tall and grounded, eye's closed, palms open, feet firmly planted in the desert. The sculpture is constructed of metal cage, LED lights, wood, mesh and fabric. R-Evolution expresses presence, mindfulness, and awareness of the moment. Also, ever so subtley, the sculpture took long, deep breaths.

THE DREAMERS GUILD-"THE TEMPLE OF PROMISE"

The Temple of Promise is the most sacred and reflective space at the burn. The Dreamers Guild Temple was beautifully constructed with a seventy foot archway, which winded within itself through the desert sandscape to a tapered seven foot tall end point. Within the temples shell like cavernous walls there were areas that created small private spaces and altars. From the heart of the space, opened a grand hall which contained three trees with barren branches, where participants were encouraged to affix ribbons with handwritten messages on them. At the end of the burn, the tree's were full of sentiment, blessings and humanities well wishes.

"The Temple of Promise" by Unknown Photographer

MICHEAL GARLINGTON-"TEMPLE OF CONFESSIONS"

Garlingtons mystically grotesque temple stood fifty feet tall in stark contrast with the bleak desert that surrounded it. The construction of this temple was similar to ancient Thai and Indian temples. It was built of a mish mash of mixed media that included wood, pained panels, mirrors, paper and clay. The temple offered a dark space of reflection with small, hidden, shadowbox like area's that contained small trinkets and relics from the artists own collection. The space offered a large "confessional" area where festival goers could reflect or interact with each other and the art.

Burning Man is touted as the Festival of Festivals in the US. The art is always amazing, and usually the theme's and aesthetics carry over to "default world" after some time and adaption.

McKenna was a highly influential author and ethnobotanist in the 90's. Much of McKenna's writings and ideas have come to life now, during this New Psychedelic Renaissance.

The whole idea behind entheogenic experiences is to curate and facilitate subjective experiences. These experiences, on entheogenic substances can be used to heal and also to replace regular over the counter psychological drugs and common therapy. Since the 90's there have been numerous underground therapists and much research in to the field of natural and psychedelic healing. The studies have shown much headway, and have gained such ground that treatments such as mediated Ayahuasca therapy, Mushroom therapy, and LSD therapy have become mainstream.

With the dawn of entheogenic therapy, the culture surrounding etheogens has become more accepted as well. Visionary art, which is an art movement inspired by psychedelia, sacred themes, dimensions, space, and feelings was born of the New Psychedelic Renaissance. Artists such like Alex Grey have spearheaded and nurtured the Visionary Art culture, and also the entheogenic culture. Grey holds workshops and teach in's about art, healing, and alternative culture. Out of this new artistic enviroment, a whole new generation of masters has been born. Abstract artists such as Stephen Kruse and Kaliptus, Futurists like Adam Psybe, and activist artists such as Linzy Miggantz and Android Jones. Visionary art also has traditionalists in its movement as well, who practice medieval painting techniques such as michetechnique, as oils. Martin Stensaas is one such artist.

Alex and Allyson Grey at COSM

The Transformational festival scene is a large part of The New Psychedelic Renaissance, as festivals such as Burning Man, Coachella and SWSX popularized the culture throughout the 90's. Since that time, many smaller, more intimate festivals have grown out of the movement. Some of the more popular festivals that practice the entheogenic and transformational culture are Sonic Bloom in Colorado, Great North Festival in Maine, Lightning in a Bottle, and the Imagine Festival. There are even smaller festivals as well, such as Dancefestopia. These festivals are great local venues to see electronic music, flow arts and live painting. Many festivals also host workshops and build within the local community through service. Some festivals host permaculture days during and after the festival, where food gardens are planted. Others host live art and art in local schools. With the festival scene becoming such a large business, psychedelic harm reduction and testing has become normal. Zendo is a harm reduction service that typically goes to festivals to help patrons and educate people of symptoms of a bad trip and provide a safe space to have a bad trip or work through strong reactions.

Finally, a grand and diverse music culture has fostered the growth of the New Psychedelic Renaissance. EDM, electronic, and complex "intellectual" electronic music that blends many styles and genres have come out this movement. Much of the new electronic music evokes feelings and ideas. Trance, D&B, Glitch, Twitch, Ethnic, GOA, downtempo, chill have all been blended together to create an environment conducive to entheogenic experimentation as well as personal exploration. Artists such as Shpongle, Zebbler Encanti Experience, and Space Jesus typically make the festival rounds during the main Festival season, and then do club shows and international festivals as the season winds down in the US. EDM grew out of the 90's rave culture, and in to the new psychedelic culture.

Shpongle (Simon Posford) By Dylan Thomas Brooks

MAPS, which stands for Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, has stood at the front of Psychedelic research. MAPS picks up where numerous studies left off in the 60's and 70's about the effects of etheogenic drugs as healing agents. After MAPS released their work, many other big name universities had studies as well. For example, Institutions such as MIT, John Hopkins, Yale, UCLA, and NYU have all conducted research on psychedelics, after a nearly 40 year hiatus. Psychedelic therapy has shown to useful in treating addictions, PTSD, depression and personality disorders.

Many have described the psychedelic experience as "life changing" and perspective altering. The MAPS study, as well as other studies have proven one thing, that psychedelics, while in a mediated environment, can lead to healing breakthroughs and new feelings of empathy and humanity. The New Psychedelic Renaissances embraces the entheogenic experience, and in as such, it is creating a whole world of art, music, science and culture.

The Black Lives Matter movement was formed in 2013, shortly after the death of Trayvon Martin. Martin was an unarmed teen who was shot near his home while coming back from a local shop. Martins tragic death had struck a chord, and sparked a fire. That fire was the Black Lives Matter movement.

The Black Lives Matter movement has its roots deep in the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's, and the movement not only addresses police brutality but also:

-The prison industrial complex

-Minority LGBTQ issues

-Education Issues

-Identity and cultural Issues

-Poverty

-Family Issues

In the movements mission statement, Black Lives Matter states that it does not represent or support any political party nor any presidential candidate. And that it serves as an "ideological and political intervention created to hold institutions responsible for the thousands of lives lost by undue violence and police brutaliy." The movement also addresses systemic racism in all institutions, and is leading where the original Civil Rights movement left off.

The art of the Black Lives Matter movement reflects the movements mission as well as the general feeling of the people involved. The art reflects the sorrow, fear, anger and confusion that the people feel as unarmed people are shot or killed almost daily. The art also reflects the empowerment that people have felt as it has created a safe enviroment to voice themselves.

Black Lives Matter has inspired many galleries to hold special shows that showcase such art. There has been countless acts of street art, guerrilla wheat paste flyers and graffiti that has defaced dark corners and public places. In May, a group in Boston had defaced a statue in a public park. Was it illegal? Yes. But art and protest hold no bounds.

The art of Black Lives Matter includes illustrations, paintings, digital art and physical performace and protests in public places. Most of the art is inspired by actual events that have conspired. For example, this piece with a women in a bathing suit standing over a police officer, was inspired by an incident in Texas when the police had barged in on a local pool party, and a girl in a bathing suit was tackled down to the ground.

There was also an incident where a women named Bree Newsome had climbed up a pole at the South Carolina state house, and removed the Confederate flag from the pole it had been on. She had surrendered after the act. The act itself was a strong statement regarding the flag and its meaning. Not long after that the flag was taken down from government property because of legislation inspired by this womens act of defiance. This act had inspired artist Julian Watkins to create his iconic illustration.
Art by Alonda Williams, 2015

Artist Alonda Williams, who is also a writer, wrote "Penny and the magic puffballs", which is a book that celebrates natural black hair. Williams not only celebrates the black life, but also confronts contemporary political issues, such as police brutality and racism in America. Mainstream artists have also began to speak out and join the movement. Just last week at an awards show, artists Janelle Monet had began speak out and sing her protest song, and NBC cut her off.

Finally, the movement has inspired many young hip hop artists to take the message of the movement and create conscious music. Music that empowers and educates. Music like that of the early 90's, where artists would sing of the plight of poverty, opression and undue violence. Music that lifts people and gives them hope, as well as angers and inspires them to take action.

In conclusion, the Black Lives Matter movement is gaining momentum and starting to make a difference. More police are being held accountable for violence, more institutions are being questioned, and more lives are being saved. The art of the movement is diverse, and is the essence of people. Art is a conduit, and a megaphone. Art is a defiant act.
I love curating and sharing art and ideas. Recently, I was reviewing all of the posts that I have made so far on Entheo Zine. Upon review I realized that I have never once shared what I do. I have never shared MY passions or what drives me. How can my growing audience of readers really understand the intention of this creation of mine, if they don't know me?

Me, with prints and a sketch from Gabriel Roberts

That is when I had an epiphany. Radical open sharing. Beginning with this post. My posts before this seemed rather mechanical, and while the content was good (the artists always are good), there is not enough ME in the posts. So, let me tell you my story.

My story is rather typical of a small town artist. I have always enjoyed and excelled in art and writing. Throughout High School I had taken advanced placement art, theater, english and writing courses. My art was recognized and put up in the town hall, and in a special art show at the local small town high school. I got some random achievement award for some random poem I wrote about the universe. Through all of this, I was hardly passing math and PE, and began getting in trouble out of school.

My home life at the time was not ideal. My mom had began to date toxic men who beat her and/or were drug addicts. My mom was also very strict, which meant I couldn't really leave the house as much as I would have liked. As a high school age teenager, this was hard. Back then, I used art and writing as an escape and as an emotional response to what was going on around me. In my room, I had piles of notebooks, art supplies, and books for inspiration. My room was my refuge. Back then, some of my best work was triggered by emotional turmoil. I once took a small plaster angel and smothered it in black and red nail polish and wrapped it in painting tape and labeled it "this is how I feel". Like someone would get that. It wasn't a bad peice, but I ended up getting it thrown out. Most of my art stemmed from these awkward terrible feelings back then.

After High School I took a year off, and began working some local retail jobs. I thought I could I could save for Art School if I worked. I really needed a reality check back then. I learned that retail jobs that pay minimum wage DO NOT make enough to save for school. I think after taxes, I took home about $100.00 a week. During this year off I also visited my High School for guidence for art school and getting in to one. I was having trouble navigating the process, but the High School helped. That year, after much work and deliberation, I finally got accepted in to art school.

I was accepted to The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. This art school was a glorious, beautiful art school affiliated with one of the finest liberal arts Universities in Boston. The main building was right in Kenmore Square. My dorm was smack dab in the middle of Back Bay. Staying in Boston in this location was amazing and ideal. I think I initially went to art school just to move out of my parents apartment (which is an awful reason to go to college), and also, be able to hone my art skills. Art School was a HUGE reality check. In my small town, I was considered a "great artist". You leave your little po dunk town and travel to a place where great artists go to further themselves, and you are going to see some impressive amature artists. That is exactly what I saw. My college roomie was an incredible artist. She was a terrible person, but a great artist. She was pretentious. She was a bloviating gossiping terrible person though.

As far as Art School being a reality check, I wasn't ready. I was not ready for school or the "real world" associated with it. College means being ready to learn. It means dropping that fragile little pathetic ego, and soaking up all you can in that limited time that you have. It means being able to work, do schoolwork, and handle real life at literally the same time. At 19, I had no idea how to do this. I had no skills. I had no license or car. In Boston, I couldn't even find a part time job. No one wanted to hire the scrubby little 19 year old goth chick who didn't know her ass from her elbow. Looking back, I probably wouldn't have hired me either. Another way Art School was a reality check, was that it exposed me to all the things that I could do. It exposed me to great, inspiring people who were amazing and I could bounce ideas off of. It also exposed me to the glory of the city. Boston is an amazing "little big town", with a great nightlife, and always something to do. As a very young person with on and off jobs and money, therein lay one of my debacles. I learned to prioritize very quickly. Especially when art supplies or medicine is needed.

Art school itself was very challenging. It was nothing like the AP courses in High School. I quickly learned that I had much to learn. Painting, perspective, shades, values, figure drawing, still lives...I was bombarded with so much great classical techniques. And it really was hard, tedious work. No one ever said art school was going to be easy. I learned much in the year that I attended. My figure drawing teacher had pointed out how fucked up my perspective was. I took the critique personally. I shouldn't have. Now, as a more mature person who has looked at thier own art from an outside perspective, I can actually see it. I always wondered if my point of view was more than me not understanding space relationships. If it was like a metaphor for my point of view in general. There was one particular drawing session that I remember that we had odd looking models that had one particular flaw that stood out to me. In my drawings the flaws were grossly exagerated. The models, my classmates and my figure drawing teacher were like, "Why did you exagerate these parts of these people?". I had no answer. But, the answer was I fixated on that aspect of those people. The next memorable lesson I had in art school, was in painting. This was painting 101, so it was both oils and acrylics. Acrylics was the whole first half of the year. We had to paint paint chips that showed progression of shades and values. We had to define color. (How abstract is that??). Once we were in the second half of the year, we had to choose a scene from a book or something to paint as a final. I chose a scene out of my Crow graphic novel, and I wanted it to be purple and black mainly. I was struggling with this project, and my painting teacher told me "draw with the paint". It literally took me 10 years after that lesson to fully grasp that concept.

Long story short, I dropped out of Art School after one year. Two semester. What I didn't know after I dropped out was that I was instantly responsible for all that debt for that year. I think I had to pay $25,000 all together..looking back, that's not bad considering how much it could have been and how much I owe now. I was back in Smalltown USA, working my retail jobs, I was saving to move. I was paying my debts. I actually moved out, and in to a friends house in 2004 after one more year at home. I couldn't stay at home anymore. I had stayed at my friends house for about six months. After that I moved to where I am now. I didn't even have my own bed. I had a work friend drive me over to Wal-Mart one pay day so I could pick up a $100.00 futon. I began blogging on a regular basis after I moved out. My first blog was a personal blog I kept on blogger. I basically used my blog like I use social media now. To post everyday thoughts and pictures of my life.

Fast forward four more years. I have a more stable job. My apartment is fine. I get comfortable. I began creating on and off while working, but for the most part I worked. I worked at Jiffy Lube. It was interesting to say the least. Most of days consisted of work and sleep. Manual labor is not for the weak. During this time, I was dabbling more back in to art, and did more blogging. I think I had a Myspace until 2008. I met a number of great artists online on social media. From 2008 on I began more social media networking. My blog had morphed from a personal blog, to a poetry blog, then to a political blog. Fast forward a few more years, I begin working in more "professional" jobs. Mostly administrative positions. Then in 2010, I decided to return to college. To business school, of all things. My boyfriend helped initiate the process in getting me back to school. I think I took business because it was safe and practical. In 2011, the Occupy Movement began. I began attending Occupy Boston everyday after work. I did art for Occupy, and I also began blogging on examiner, as the Boston Local Political Examiner. I always had an interest in politics, so political blogging was something I enjoyed. I also networked online and in real life through Occupy. I met a number of inspiring artists/activists through Facebook friendbombs and real life meet ups.

During this time, I had met people online who were in to Visionary art and were part of the transformational culture surrouding it. I helped admin some facebook pages and groups about the art and culture, and was hooked. I met some really great people online who were amazing artists, writers, musicians, and thought leaders in the transformational movement. I really love Visionary art. I see Visionary art as the most fringe, one the cusp art. Visionary art is literally the trancendental vision you have, and share. Not all art is transcendental. Visionary art is seeing beyond what has been done, and pushing the envelope. Exploring visions that have not yet been explored. The vision that I have seen in visionary art is the inspiration for this blog. Visionary art doesn't get much notice in the mainstream media. My vision for this blog is not only to expose great artists to people, but also to support Visionary art. I started this blog shortly after I really began diving back in to art. I really started creating on a regular basis in 2014. I made a number of pen and ink works, as well as paint pens paintings. These were really my first attempt at Visionary art. As time progressed I found myself more drawn to the abstract visionary art. The swirling, portal filled, 3D shapes in space abstract. This is they type of art I am working on now. The abstract.

I really enjoy collecting art as well as creating it. Supporting the Visionary art community is very important to me. Some random facts about me:

- I enjoy gourmet food. Cooking and eating it. I've been known to expirement with exotic ingredients and techniques. I worked at a culinary school for four years and it was very eye opening.
- You can still find my old political blogs on examiner.
- I have a very eclectic taste in music
- I live to travel. I haven't done much yet, but its in the cards.
- I have a shop on etsy. I plan on creating jewlery and selling prints of my work in it. I also may sell ritual items. I need feedback.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story. I see all my failures as stepping stones to where I am today. And where am I? I am creating. I am writing, and I am living. I am growing. I am learning. This blog is not only a forum of art from other artists, it is a alchemistic catalyst of creation of my art. These posts art my writing. And I am eternally grateful that you all take the time to read this, and to look at the art and music and videos that I share. To look at the part of me that I share.

THANK YOU.
Art by Beeple

Within the movement, there is a veritable explosion of new and innovative abstract art. From the swirling 3D space scapes of Andy Thomas, to the futurist portals of Adam Psybe, there is giant pool of talented artists who know how to push paint and convey rich, complicated ideas in beautiful compositions.
Some abstract artists such as Stephen Kruse, Jake Amazon, and Kaliptus, use shapes, space, and vibrant colors to convey abstract, surreal ideas as well as to manipulate perceptions about these ideas.
It has been a rather long time since my last post.
I have been on hiatus, gathering my thoughts and ideas, and tonight I return.
There are a plethora of artists, writers, thought leaders and performers who need to be written about.
I NEED to write about these people and their work, and share them with you all.
So, today I end my hiatus, and I write.
For you, the readers. For all of the artists, and for the good of the world.
For art!
When Layman creates, he seeks to create an interesting interactive experience. b1n4ry visuals create an immersive and high minded designed environment, using visual, audio sensory theater. b1n4ry creates using a combination of technology and classical art techniques. She is creative, inspired, and creates pop forward music. Willow is known for her hit "Whip my hair", and since that time, she has grown as an artist, and her work speaks to this growth.
In Willows newest hit, F Q-C is drum heavy, and poetic. It's as though she picked up where Saul Williams has left off, infusing her music with conscious lyrics, tribal and urban imagery, as well as interesting point of view.
