It's been a long time... a really long time

First I want to apologize for dropping off the face of the Earth for a while. I apologize.

Next, I want to share that I have finally graduated college with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science degree. I do want to continue onto graduate school but I want to cash flow it so I'm saving up for that little venture.

Chick-fil-A Coupon Calendar Available

You can purchase a 2013 Chick-fil-A Coupon Calendar starting today at any Chick-fil-A location. The calendar costs around $6 plus tax but it is well worth the money. Last year, there was a coupon for one free product every month. It looks like they will be changing it up a little this year so that each calendar comes with a card that has to be activated. You can use that card for the free item for that month only and unused items do not rollover to the next month.

Day 1: I am thankful for my Family

Most of you who read my blog know my story. I had a wonderful mother who passed away too early, a father who lives in a different country, and a younger brother who is now a young man. I have some family overseas, but I haven't really kept in touch with them and haven't had any contact since my mother passed. That is all the family I have, but it has been all the family I ever needed.

"In time of test, family is best." That quote is from a Burmese Proverb. It's a simple quote yet it speaks volumes. My parents supported every decision I made when I was younger, and even stood up for me when my decisions turned out to be wrong ones. They fully believed that when a mistake is made, you learn from it and move on. They were there for me through every step of development, and let me lean on them when times were rough. My mom was the best at answering questions with questions that seriously made one think. She was always there no matter how much heartbreak I cause her throughout my teen years.

My brother is one of the best people I will ever know if my lifetime. He was only 12 when our mom passed, but even at that age he was one wise kid. He knew how to handle his emotions, and at times would have to put up with mine. He supported me when we ventured out on our own and tried to make a living with a modest income. He never once blamed me for not being able to attend one of his basketball games nor did he ever blame me for not being able to provide anything other than a modest living. He never asked for more than we could afford nor did he ever want for anything over our budget. He never once questioned why we couldn't have as much as everyone else. He did not complain that we only could eat out once a month although I was a horrible cook, he didn't complain when his friends were getting the latest smartphones and we were still stuck with the basics, he didn't complain about not having any cable, nor did he ever complain about having to work to help support me. To this day, he still thanks me for all that I've done to support him. My question would be: where would I be without him? I don't think I would have made it this far.

It's November! This year has passed quickly and as I look back on the last few months, I realize that I have so much to be thankful for. It is sad that we get caught up in everyday life that we forget all the things that we have been blessed with and I am glad that there is at least one day out of every year to really reflect upon our lives and appreciate all the people in it.

As a way to celebrate Thanksgiving and give me a challenge to set aside some time to contribute to this blog, I will try to post at least one post every day about something that I am thankful for. I remember long ago a coworker started a routine where she would write one thing she is thankful for in a journal every morning when she awoke. This routine gave her a more positive outlook on life. I'm hoping that by sharing with you my reasons to be thankful, you will also be able to "count your blessings," so to speak.

Now my question to you, what are you thankful for?

I haven't been able to read anything but textbooks lately, but free eBooks like this still get me excited only because I know I can download it to my Kindle and be able to read them at a later date. Right now, you can down World War One by Rupert Colley for free from Amazon. I have only read a small part of the introduction and from what I can tell so far, this will be a fun lesson in history for those who like to read more nonfiction than fiction and who love to learn history in a quick manner. This is a fairly short book, so I'm sure you will be able to knock this out with an hour or so.

This book is specifically made for Kindle. If you don't own a Kindle, you can go here to download the Kindle app for your computer to be able to read these book from your computer.

Happy Halloween everyone! It is definitely going to be a cold Halloween this year, especially on the East coast. Hurricane Sandy is making herself known, and her winds are bringing snow early in the mountains. I hope you and your loved ones stay safe and warm!

Long Time No See

Hi everybody! Long time no see (or hear, or speak). How is everybody?

As expected, I gave into the pressure of keeping up with school that I have totally disregarded this blog. My time has been filled with the above image (that of Organic Chemistry). It's definitely not my favorite subject, and I am excited that I passed! One more semester and I should be done with this part of my life.

As for couponing, I have been slacking. I had stocked up on enough household goods before I went on this hiatus that not couponing really has not effected me much this year. Oh, but I'm ready to get back into it! In fact, I plan on making "lists" of all the sales tonight and tomorrow night and make one big shopping trip on Wednesday.

Anyhow, I've missed you guys. I hope you are all doing well.

Never Lose Your Keys

This is how I looked this morning! I had awaken early, got ready for school, and prepared for the exam at 8:00 A.M. When I was ready to leave, I felt confident that this was going to be a great day.... then I could not find my keys.

I looked everywhere! I suddenly remembered that I had left them in the boyfriend's truck last night. Of course, the boyfriend was already at work for the day (about an hour and a half away from home). Thank goodness I have an awesome neighbor that was able to take me to school in time to complete the exam. Lesson learned: Never leave keys in boyfriend's truck ever again.

I hope your Thursday was better than mine!
