JEE Main or Joint Entrance Examination formerly All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is an examination organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India.^[1] Introduced in the year 2002 and renamed in April 2013, this national level competitive test is for admission to various undergraduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the JEE-Main score, mainly National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).

Jee Main was conducted on the first week of April until 2018 by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It was held both on paper and electronically. From 2019 it is conducted by the NTA, twice a year, and online only.^[2]

^{The examination consists of only two papers: Paper 1 for B.E./BTech courses and Paper 2 for BArch and BPlanning courses.^[3]
A candidate can opt for any or both the papers. Paper 1 is mandatorily a
computer based test (called Online mode) from 2019. Till 2018, there
was an option between OMR based and computer based mode.
The examination was conducted in offline pen and paper mode till 2010.
In 2011, as per the orders of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, CBSE conducted Paper 1 in Computer-Based-Test
mode for the first one lakh candidates who opted for the same, while
the remaining students took the examination in the conventional pen and
paper mode.^[4]
The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at the examination is limited to three in consecutive years. As of 2018, the top 224,000 rankers of JEE (Main) will qualify to take the second and final level of examination: JEE (Advanced)^[5]}

^{The exam is offered in English, Hindi and Gujarati. From January 2021, it will be offered in eleven languages, namely Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Odiya, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.^[8]}

JEE Main 2020

Jee Main 2020 has been scheduled from July 18 - 23, 2020. The announcement was made by HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank during a webinar on May 5. There is no clarity on the release of JEE MAIN admit card, yet, but it can be expected anytime after the third phase of the nationwide lockdown ends i.e. post - May 17, 2020.

Jee Main 2020 is a gateway to JEE Advanced 2020 which is now scheduled for August 23, 2020. JEE Main 2020 January session was successfully conducted from January 6 – 9, 2020. Out of 11,18,673 candidates who registered for the January session, 8,69,010 appeared for the test.
Jee Main 2021 , MHRD will give preference to the regional languages of states with more number of applications in the last five years and is planning to add Marathi and Telugu as mediums for JEE Main.

JEE Main January session was conducted from January 6 – 9, 2020. The results for the same have been declared for all the 3 papers.

JEE Main 2020 Eligibility

Candidates must be aware of the eligibility criteria as determined by NTA, to avoid any kind of last-minute chaos. The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2020 is as follows:

Age Limit: JEE Main 2020 has no age bar. The candidates who have passed class 12^th / equivalent examination in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE Main 2020.
Year of Passing Qualifying Examination: Students who passed their XII or equivalent exam in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 are eligible for applying in JEE Main 2020. Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2017 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2021 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2020.
Subjects in Qualifying Examination: For B.E/ B. Tech, it is essential to have passed 12^th /qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject. For B. Arch, it is essential to have passed qualifying examination with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry. For B. Planning, it is essential to have passed 12^th /qualifying exam with Mathematics.
Number of Attempts: Students can appear for the exam thrice, that too in consecutive years. Appearing for both the sessions in the same year will be counted as a single attempt.

JEE Main Application Form 2020

JEE MAIN Apllication form for candidates could be applied from February 7 – March 12, 2020. The application form had to be filled through online mode only. Candidates had to fill personal details, educational details, contact details, medium of language, choice of paper and exam center city.

Around 9.34 lakh candidates have registered for JEE Main 2020 January session. 15, 247 more women registered this year in comparison to the last year. A total number of 81,413 registrations have been made from the EWS category, which was introduced this year.

JEE Main 2020 Result

The result for JEE Main 2020 January session has been declared on January 17, 2020. Result for JEE Main is released separately for B.E/B.Tech, B. Arch and B. Planning papers. The result can be downloaded from nta.ac.in. NTA will award students with percentile scores and not ranks. NTA uses Normalization Procedure in order to nullify the effects from varying difficulty level in question paper sets in different shifts.

JEE Main 2020 Cut Off

JEE Main Cut Off will be released by NTA in online mode.JEE Main Result for January 2020 session has been declared. Qualifying Cut off and Admission Cut off are different for JEE Main 2020. Qualifying Cut off is the minimum score required to sit for JEE Advanced 2020. Admission Cut off is the merit list based on the cut off which is used for the counseling process. The cut off is based on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, number of appeared students, category of the candidate, cut off trend over the years and number of candidates applying for a particular course.

CAT exam Eligibility:

Graduation is the criterion to appear in cat exam.

The candidate must possess a bachelor's degree with at least 50 per cent marks or equivalent CGPA ( 45 per cent for SC, ST and PWD/DA category) from a recognised board or university

CAT Exam Pattern

CAT Exam is Computer Based Test (CBT) rather than an Online Test.In CBT the questions are kept constant and simply presented to the students in an online format rather than an Online Test where the questions are stored in question banks and the computer decides the questions to be asked of the students

CAT Exam pattern consists of 100 Questions spread across three sections:

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
Quantitative Aptitude (QA)
Each section is allocated 1 hour each meaning that the exam lasts for 3 hours or 180 minutes in total (20 minutes extra is provided in each section for candidates who have a disability).
It is not possible to switch between sections although switching between questions within the section is allowed.

There are a total of 34 questions in the VARC section

24 questions (5 sets) in the Reading Comprehension sub-section
10 questions in the Verbal Ability Sub-section
There are TITA and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in each sub-section with the majority in the Verbal Ability sub-section.
According to the CAT Exam Pattern in 2019, there were 7 TITA questions in the VA sub-section and none in the RC sub-section.

There are a total of 32 questions in the DILR section

16 questions each in the Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR) sub-sections
According to the CAT Exam Pattern in 2019, there were 8 TITA questions which were distributed across the sub-sections equally.

The final section is the QA section which accounts for 34 questions

There were 11 TITA questions in the CAT Exam Pattern of 2019 although the number can change each year.

CAT result is declared by IIM in the first week of January. In order to download their CAT 2020 result, candidates will be required to enter their credentials i.e. CAT user ID and password.

CAT result contain details related to candidate's name, contact details, category, photo, registration number, sectional score, overall score, sectional percentile, overall percentile and instructions. CAT result will be available in online mode only on official website. No candidate will receive the hard copy of the CAT result personally from IIM. Post the declaration of result, IIM shortlisting will begin based on indiviual CAT cut offs. Common Admission Test is India's toughest exam which is conducted once in a year by IIMs. The validity of CAT result will be one year and qualifying candidates will be able to take admission in CAT participating institutes across India.

The Verbal Ability section over the past 3-4 years has focused majorly on 3 types of questions:

The Summary questions usually consist of:

Small passage (80-100 words) with 4 options
Objective is to find the best summary for the passage
In these types of questions usually, the key is to find the options which does not contradict the passage in any manner
Once you are able to eliminate the other options, the right answer would emerge.

The Jumbled Paragraph questions are usually TITA which means that there is no margin for error.

In these type of questions, there are 4-5 sentences given out of order
Together they form a paragraph and the aspirant has to find the order which best suits the group of sentences. In order to solve these types of questions

The first thing that each aspirant needs to do is identify the first and last sentence of the paragraph.
This is usually quite easy since the first sentence introduces a topic while the last sentence makes some kind of a judgment or conclusion.
Following this, the first sentence should lead to the second sentence and so and so forth.

The Odd Sentence in Paragraph Jumbles is also a TITA questions for the past 3-4 years:

The objective for this type of question is to identify the sentence which does not match with the theme established in the rest of the paragraph.
These questions may be easy or difficult depending on how it is presented.
For easy questions, the sentence will talk about something completely different from the theme of the rest of the passage.
On the other hand, in difficult questions, the sentence will be on the same topic as the rest of the passage but will differ slightly in terms of the opinion being offered or the theme being set.
It is also possible for the sentence to introduce a topic within the theme which is not pursued further.

Overall they can be quite tricky to deal with.

CAT Exam Syllabus Reading Comprehension

The Reading Comprehension consists of questions based on passages in the exam. The questions are generally of three types: Fact-based, Inference-based and Vocabulary-based. The Vocabulary based questions have already been discussed above.
The fact based questions, as the name suggests, demand answers on the basis of facts mentioned in the passage. They are usually the easiest questions in the section.
The Inference-based questions are slightly trickier since the aspirant has to deduce the tone and theme of the author before answering these questions.

CAT Exam Logical Reasoning

CAT 2020 Eligibility

IIM will define the eligibility criteria of CAT 2020. Before filling the application form of CAT 2020, all candidates must carefully check the eligibility criteria. Below mentioned eligibility criteria of CAT 2020 can be checked by candidates and should be considered before registration-

Educational Qualification: All candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any recognised university or educational institute.

Minimum Marks Required: In Bachelor's degree a minimum of 50 per cent marks or equivalent CGPA will be mandatory for all candidates.
Category Requirement: Candidates belonging to the reserved category {Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD)}, will be required to have minimum 45 percentage in Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from any recognised university or educational institute.
Appearing Candidates: The final year candidates who will be appearing in Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification exam at the time of commencement of registration and those who have completed degree course but are awaiting results will be able to apply for CAT 2020.
Age Limit: To fill the application form of CAT 2020, authorities will not put any age limit/ age restriction.

CAT 2020 conducting IIM will tentatively start the registration process in the first week of August. Eligible candidates will be able to fill the application form tentatively till the third week of September. IIM also provide the facility to make corrections in the CAT 2020 application form even after final submission. Registration of CAT 2020 will be completed in a three-step process which will include- CAT 2020 registration, filling the required details and submission of application fee amount. Clat 2020 Syllabus

Clat 2020 syllabus gives an overview of subjects candidates have to cover while doing their preparation. CLAT syllabus 2020 contains all the topics which will form the basis of the test paper. Scope and coverage of questions under different subject areas:

English Language: The English section will test the candidates' proficiency in English based on comprehension passages. Students will be given passages of about 450 words each and such passages could be fiction/ non-fiction, contemporary/historical etc. Candidates will be questioned on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein, etc. Inference would be key here, candidates will have to comprehend the main idea discussed in the passage including any counter-arguments used in the passage.

Current Affairs including General Knowledge: This section would again consist of passages instead of direct questions which were asked earlier. The passages would again be of 450 words each and the same would be derived from news, journals etc. Questions based on such passages would be asked. Such question can cover static portion as well, candidates are therefore advised not to forgo the static portion entirely. Reading Newspaper daily, specifically articles containing any Bill or Judgments or legal information should help in preparing for this section.

Quantitative Aptitude: The Quantitative Technique or Maths section will include short sets of facts or propositions, graphs, or other textual, pictorial or diagrammatic representations of numerical information, followed by a series of questions. The questions will be in the form of Data Interpretation i.e. candidates would be required to infer information from the given passage and answer accordingly.

Legal Reasoning: This section will test candidate's interest towards study of law, research aptitude and problem solving ability. Questions would again be based on passages relating to facts or scenarios involving legal matters. The passage would contain certain rules and principles which should be identified and accordingly applied to the questions. The passages would be of approximately 450 words each.

Logical Reasoning: The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the candidate's ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. The questions would be based on passage of 300 words.

CLAT or Common Law Admission Test is a centralised test for admission to 22 National Law Universities in India.^[1] 43 other education institutes and two public sector institutes are also eligible to use these scores. The test is conducted by the 21 participating law schools in rotation, in the order of their establishment, starting with National Law School of India University which conducted CLAT-2008.

CLAT can be Given by whom?

CLAT is the test taken after the Higher Secondary Examination or the 12th grade for admission to integrated undergraduation programmes in Law and after Graduation in Law for Master of Laws(LL.M) programmes conducted by these law universities. The two-hour admission test consists of objective type covering questions on Elementary Mathematics or Numerical Ability, English with Comprehension, General knowledge and Current affairs, Legal Aptitude and Legal Awareness and Logical reasoning.

Who is eligible for CLAT?

CLAT can be given oby only Indian nationals and NRIs can appear in the test. The foreign nationals desirous of taking admission to any course in any of the participating Law Universities may directly contact the concerned University having seats for foreign nationals.^[9]
Eligibility requirement for CLAT are::

Under-Graduate Courses

Senior Secondary School/Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent certificate from a recognised Board with not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC and ST candidates). There is no upper age restriction for the test.^[10]

Post-Graduate Courses

LL. B/B. L. Degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized University with not less than 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of SC and ST candidates). The candidates who have passed the qualifying degree examination through supplementary/ compartment and repeat attempts are also eligible for appearing in the test and taking Admission provided that such candidates will have to produce the proof of having passed the qualifying examination with fifty-five/fifty percent marks, as the case may be, on the date of their admission or within the time allowed by the respective universities.^[10]

Gate Exam or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Gate Exam is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to: (i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and (ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science, in the institutions supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies. Even in some colleges and institutions, which admit students without MHRD scholarship/assistantship, the Gate Exam qualification is mandatory. Second and third year MCA students are eligible for Gate Exam.
First and Second year MSc students are eligible for Gate Exam based on qualifying degree.
BSc. BCA and BCS (a three years degree) students are not eligible for Gate Exam.
BSc. (Tech), a four years degree, final year students are eligible for Gate exam.
B.Tech or BE integrated students are eligible from their third year of integrated degree.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Gate after B.Sc is only possible if your B.Sc course is of 4 years.
