De vuelta? / Back again?

Intentar encontrar tiempo para ti misma es sin duda cada vez más complicado, cuantas veces habré dicho esta vez sí, pero ha sido un que no. Admiro sin duda a esas mamas que desde casa cuidan a los peques y su negocio, porque tiempo tiempo poco te dejan.

Este confinamiento, esta crisis del COVID me ha dado mucho que pensar, si segundo hijo a nacido, una pequeña Greenwoman de la que estoy sin duda totalmente enamorada, pero con ella mi tiempo libre aun se ha reducido más. Y con todo este tiempo pensando he decidido:

1. Retomar el blog.

2. Tejer, tejer y tejer. Y escribir los patrones que tenía anotados pero nunca me anime a ellos.

3. Piropo vuelve a estar abierta. Y tengo montones de planes para ella, pero como mi tiempo es limitado prefiero no nombrarlos.

No sé cuánto durare, no sé si me quedare aquí para siempre. Vamos a intentarlo una vez más!

Trying to find time for yourself is everyday more and more difficult. I can’t count the times that I said to myself, this time is the time (but not yet). I admire all moms who take care of the kids and their business form home. We all love our kids, but they don’t let time for anything.

This COVID crisis give me a bit of time to think. My second child, my little Greenwoman is here, I am completely in love with her. But my time is even sorter now. So I just decided:

1. Return to the blog

2. Knit, knit and knit. I should also write all the patterns that I have around.

3. Piropo (the shop) is open again. I have lots of plans for the web, but I prefer not to say (just in case)

I don't know how long I will be around this time, but I really have to try again!

Cambodia / Camboya

If you go to Cambodia you have to make a long stop in Siemens Reap. The Ankor temples are incredible and they can take your breath away. The only bad thing is the prices 20$ for the temple another 20$ for the water falls, another 20$ for the water village. I think it can be even expensive than your own country. But the problem is when you ask the locals for the crazy prices and after.long conversation you realise that the company which deal with the tourism in the area is a private Vietnamese company and the locals don't get much of that money.

The wife of our tuk tuk driver was a weaver, she just to work for Ankor Crafts but she stopped working after the kids. They told me that also the salary was not so great, they work a lot of ours for not much money. The sales have drop because the tourist don't have money and they don't reduce the prices, sometimes the even increase them! Anyway but if you go to Siem Reap, I think you should go and visit the workshops, they are incredible and they take you around for free to see everything.

Sin duda si vas a Cambodia tienes que hacer una larga parada en Siem Reap. Se puede decir que los templos de Ankor son increíbles y las ruinas que te quitan el aliento. Lo malo, los precios; 20 dólares para entrar en los templos, otros 20 dólares para las cataratas, otros 20 para ver el pueblo pesquero. Y así sucesivamente. Sientes como que la zona es más cara que tu propio país. Después preguntas a la gente local porque es tan caro y te das cuenta tras una larga conversación que la agencia de turismo que lo lleva y pone los precios es privada y vietnamita que tienen el contrato firmado para años y que los locales no obtienen casi nada de ese dinero.

La mujer de nuestro conductor de tuk tuk era Tejedora con telar, había trabajado durante años en Ankor crafts, pero tras los niños había dejado de trabajar. Ya que no merecía la pena, trabajan durante horas y no conseguían prácticamente ningún beneficio. Decía q las ventas habían disminuido y en vez de reducir los precios para incrementar ventas los precios de los productos seguían subiendo, por lo q los turistas no compraban nada. Aún así si pasáis por Siem Reap es buena idea ir a Ankor crafts para ver sus talleres.

Os presento a mi Haruni, lo termine el marzo pasado, pero aun no habia sacado ninguna foto! me encanta el color, esta hecho con lana artesano 100% alpaca. Super suave!! me ha sobrado algo de lanita estoy pensando en comprarme una madeja blanca y hacerme unos guantes a rayas para este invierno.

You can see my Haruni, I finished last march, but I still dind't took any picture! I love the colour, the yarn is 100% alapca. Soooo soft!! I have some yarn left so I am thinking to buy one ball white and make me a cute mittens for winter.

Woolfest 2013

La semana pasada fui a Cumbria a pasar unos días en casa de unos amigos. Ha sido mi primera vez en el norte de Inglaterra y he de decir q me he enamorado de Lake District. Tb era el fin de semana del woolfest! Tengo q decir q ha sido impresionante! Me sentía como una niña en una tienda de caramelos! Debajo podéis ver algunas fotos de mi viaje! Si tenéis tiempo y os apetece os recomiendo ir a Cumbria y por supuesto al woolfest! Es impresionante!!!

Hola a todos!

Os tengo solitos y abandonados! pero no se va a volver a repetir! tengo montones de cosas que contaros! Viajes, nuevas cosas que he hecho, nuevas noticias (malas y buenas)... Pero ahora os quiero ensenar mi ultimo proyecto con Emma (mi maquina de coser). Son unos cojines para el sofá! No son lo mejor de lo mejor pero estoy de lo mas orgullosa de ellos. También les hice los botones con fimo, estuve bastante tiempo buscando unos que fueran a juego, pero no pude encontrar ninguno. Las telas me las compre en el mercadillo de Ely, cada cojín me ha costado solo £1 y el relleno lo saque de unas almohadas antiguas que ya no usábamos. Creo que el sofá es pequeño para ellos, pero son de lo mas mono! Que creéis?

Hello Everyone!

I complete abandoned you and leave you alone! But this is not going to happen again! I have lots of things to tell you!!!!! Travels, new projects, good and bad news... But for now I want to show you my last project with Emma (my sewing machine). Two sofa cushions! They are not the best of the best, but I am proud of them. I also made their buttons with polymer clay, because I couldn’t find colour that maches. I bought the fabrics at Ely market, so each cushion cost me like £1 and I stuffed with old pillows. I think the sofa is too small for them, but they locks great! What do you think?

Aeropuerto y maletas / Airport and baggage

La semana pasada regrese de pasar unos días de vacaciones en España. Quería traerme algunas cosas de casa de mis padres así que facture una maleta con Ryanair. Todo iba bien y volví feliz a casa, pero cuando decido abrir la maleta... sorpresa! me habían robado!. La verdad es que estoy bastante triste y frustrada, Ryanair no se hace responsable ya que no lo vi y lo reclame cuando estaba en el aeropuerto. La próxima vez llevare la maleta con candado y revisare su contenido antes de salir del aeropuerto.

Last week I returned for my holidays in Spain. I wanted to take some stuff from my parents house so I checked a baggage with Ryanair. Everything was fine and I returned to home happy, but when I open my baggage... surprise!, some items were stolen. I feel very sad and frustrated, Ryanair mention that as I didn't saw it at the airport they can't process my claim. Next time I will put a lock and I will check at the airport before go home.

Octubre no termino muy bien, mi movil roto, mi camara rota, y no con mucho tiempo. Pero parece que ahora en Noviembre todo va saliendo mejor. Me he comprado un nuevo telefono con el que intentare sacar fotos a mis manualidades. Y es probable que tenga un espacio chiquitito para vender mis manualidades en Ely Cathedral Christmas Gift & Food Fair gracias a Anglia Wine Merchants tengo una semana para hacer suficiente material para vender, o lo justo para hacerme notar!.

October didn't finishpretty well, my phone dead, my camera dead, and not much time for me. But looklike November is going to be a good month. I bought a new phone, and I will tryto take pictures of my crafts with it. And probably I will have a little space at the ElyCathedral Christmas Gift & Food thanks to Anglia Wine Merchants. But I only havea week to enough staff to sell or make a bit of publicity!

Hace unas semanas pase unos días en Sur África, en Ciudad del Cabo y Stellenbosch. Me quede con ganas de ver mas y volver a África.... la próxima vez!! aquí algunas fotos!. Fui con motivos del evento de vinos de Sur África, no bebo mucho por lo que no lo disfrute como un buen amante del vino, pero estuvo muy divertido.

Few weeks ago I went to South Africa for few days, I spent my time at Cape town and Stellenbosch. I really wanted stay more and visit more... next time! Here you can find some pictures!. Nuevo juguete / New toy

Llevo ya semanas con una única idea, quiero aprender a coser. Todo fue por culpa de Siona y la envidia sana que me da con todas las cosas que hace con su maquina de coser. Así que después de mirar, comparar, comprar una maquina de segunda mano no con mucha suerte y devolverla, ya tengo una maravilla en casa. Aun no he hecho nada con ella, solo he jugado con los diferentes puntos que tiene y he hecho un ojal, pero me encanta!!! Eso si cada vez que me pongo delante de ella tengo miedo de romperla jajajajaja. Es una Singer 2259, y la he llamado Emma. Tengo unas telas que compre ayer por una libra con las que voy a intentar hacer unos cojines, ya os contare!.

I have been several weeks with the same idea in my head; I need to learn to sew. This necessity of learn to sew is fault of my friend Siona, who makes fabulous staff with her sewing machine. So, after I checked online machines, compared them, and bought one second hand machine with no luck, I bought my first and new sewing machine. For now, I only make trials of the different stiches and the button hole, but yesterday I bought some fabric in the market for a pound that hopefully will turn in cushions (whish me luck!). It is a Singer 2259, and I called Emma.

El verano por fin a llegado, llevamos ya algo mas de una semana solo con una camiseta, muy rara vez nos cogemos la cazadora! y es una gozada. Hace tan bueno que el domingo pasado decidimos hacer una paellada en el jardín.

Finally the summer is here, already more than a week with a great weather and not too much worried about take a jacket before you go out, it is a pleasure! The weather is sooo nice that we decided to make paella in the garden last sunday.

También he hecho algunas cositas estos meses pero la verdad es que no muchas. Estoy aprendiendo a coser, pero aun no tengo nada que merezca la pena mostrar. He hecho gorritos de bebe, un chal y termine una manta.

I also made few crafty things these months, but not much. I am also learning to sew, but I still don't have anything nice to sow. I made some baby hats, a shawl and I finished a blanket.

Aquí esta mi nuevo patrón, Waves! son guantes que tejí con la lana primavera (que hile y teñí yo misma). Son de largos casi hasta el codo y me encantan! seguro que el invierno que viene no me pilla desprevenida! Si os gusta el patrón podéis comprarlo en Piropo.

Enero ha sido el mes del hilado, termine una madeja que se me eternizo! y hile 100gr de un maravilloso merino para un intercambio. El primer intercambio que tuve de fibras fue en diciembre, con las hilanderas británicas. La verdad es que me mimaron demasiado! esta semana empiezo a hilar el batt que me mando Jenny, una autentica maravilla :).

January was the month of the spinning, I finished a skein that took me ages! and I spinned 100gr of a wonderful merino for a swap. The first swap that I had it was in December with the Uk Spinners. They really spoilt me! This week I will start to spin the batt that Jenny sent me, sooo yummy! :)

Ayer recibí el intercambio de hilanderas hispanohablantes, y la verdad otra vez me siento demasiado mimada! me he traído la lana que me hilo Merce al trabajo para ovillarla cuando tenga tiempo y comenzarla a tejer cuanto antes. Muchas gracias Merce!

Yesterday I received the spanish-speaking spinners, and again I fell very spoilt. I brought to my job the skein that Merce spinned to make a ball and start to knit it as soon as possible. Thanks Merce!

Esta es la lanita que termine de hilar antes del intercambio de hispanohablantes se llama primavera son 925.2 metros a navajo ply. Ya la he ovillado y me estoy haciendo unos guantes.

Portatil / Laptop

Bueno, bueno, bueno... os tengo que contar mi ultima gran aventura! Como mi ordenador fue atacado por un plato de pasta, murió y resucitó!

Hace unas semanas, fui tan inteligente de meter mi ordenador en una bolsa con la comida del día, si era pasta y el recipiente que la contenía no estaba muy bien cerrado. Tuve tan mala suerte que el poco poquísimo agua que le quedaba a la pasta se metió en mi ordenador y mojo la placa base en muy mal sitio. Como aun estaba en garantía, lo intente llevar, pero me dijeron que naranjas de la china que tenia que pagarles 300 pounds para arreglarlo. Dándolo por perdido del todo se lo lleve a un amigo, que es un genio. Abrió el ordenador y limpio las partes afectadas con vodka, después metió la placa base en el horno a 100 grados y fue disminuyendo la temperatura del horno cada cinco minutos. Como resultado, mi ordenador funciona y no tengo más excusas para no seguir blogueando!

Well, well, well ... I have to tell you my last great adventure! My computer was attacked by a plate of pasta, died and risen again!

Few weeks ago, I was soooo smart to put my computer in a bag with the food for the day. The food container was not too tightly closed. And I had such bad luck that a bit of pasta water got into my computer and got in contact with the motherboard. As my laptop was still under warranty, I tried to send my laptop to fix, but the water accidents are not in the guaranty, so I need to pay 300 pounds to fix it.

Thinking that my lost it was complety lost, I let a friend (who is a genius) to fix it. He opened the computer and clean the affected areas with vodka, then put the motherboard in the oven pre-heat with 100 degrees and he lowered the temperature of the oven every five minutes. As a result, my computer works and I have no excuses to not continue blogging!

Durante las fiestas decoramos nuestras casas, celebramos cenas y mas cenas y por supuesto nos vamos de fiesta! Estos son los últimos gemelos que he hecho con motivo navideño! Porque siempre es bueno dar un pequeño toque alegre! Mis favoritos son los de la galleta de gengibre, estoy pensando en comprarme una camisa para gemelos para llevarlos puestos!

During the Christmas holidays we decor our houses, we make dinners and dinners and of course we go out for party! Those are the last cufflinks that I make thinking in xmas! I think is always nice having a little happy accessory! My favour ones are the ginger bread, I am thinking to buy a cufflink shirt to wear them!

En el 82 me faltaba un año por nacer, pero tuve un hermano mayor que recordaba los dibujos. Naranjito, Citronio y clementina, si buscas por internet aun puedes encontrar los dibujos. Hace un mes me pidió que le hiciese los gemelos por Navidad, y por fin, he encontrado el tiempo para hacerlos!

Mas de dos meses / More than two months

Estos dos últimos meses he estado la mar de liada. Participe en el Tour of fleece, por lo que me tire dos semanas hilando sin parar y estoy trabajando en nuevos patrones que quiero publicar. A principios de septiembre mi compañía me mando dos semanas a India a finalizar un proyecto. Y ahora ando echándole horas a un nuevo proyecto que espero que empiece a ver algo la luz a finales de mes. No quiero poner muchas noticias más, cuando vaya más avanzado ya os comentare.

This last two months I had been really busy. I participated in the Tour of fleece, so that keep me spinning nonstop for few weeks, I also started to work in new patterns that I want to publish. At beginning of September my company send me to India two weeks to finish a project. And now I am expending hours in a project that I hope it see the light at the end of the month. I don’t want to give more news for now, I will tell you more about the project soon.

No he tejido ni hilado mucho durante esta temporada, he terminado unos calcetines que empece con una de las madejas del tour of fleece, termine un vestidito de bebe para mi futura sobrina y creo que nada mas. Estoy deseando terminar algunas cosas que tengo por medio para poder empezar otras, pero no me sobra tiempo.

I didn't knit or spin much in all this time. I just finished a socks from a yarn that I spined in the tour of fleece. I also finish a dress for my future niece, and I think it is all. I want finish few more project to start new things, but I don't have much time.

Los botones estaran en venta muy pronto!

Gemelos / Cufflinks

El fin de semana que viene se casa mi primo, y mis hermanos me han vuelto a pedir gemelos para la boda. Son bastante divertidos, la verdad es que me encantan y seguro que volveran a causar furor en la boda. Vosotros que creeis?

The next weekend my cousin is getting married, so my brothers asked me for new cufflinks. They are really funny, I love them! I am sure they will be very popular in the wedding. What do you think?

Tutorial tintes acidos no.1 / acid dyes tutorial no.1

Hace unos fines de semana teñi 200gr de Merino. Esta vez estuve sacando fotos del proceso, espero que sirva de ayuda a tod@s los que comenceis a teñir !

Few weekends ago, I died 200gr of Merino. I took pictures of the steps, I hope help to all who is starting to dye.

1. Poner a remojo la fibra en agua templada con unas gotas de lavaplatos durante 20 min o mas (lo puedes dejar toda la noche, es para que este bien humeda y absorva bien los colores). Preparar los tintes. / Make a fibre bath with warm water and a bit of soap, the bath can be of 20 min or more (also can be all night). Prepare the dyes!

2. Escurrir la fibra lo maximo que se pueda. / Drain the fibre
3. En una mesa o el suelo. Forrar de paper de periodico y poner una tira de papel film. / On a table or floor. Lining paper of newspaper and put a strip of plastic wrap.

4. Colocar fibra y empezar a colorear. / Place the fibre and begin to dye.

5. Cerrar el film y envolver al estilo caracol. / Close the flim and pack as a snail.

6. Colocar al vapor en un cazo como 40 min (que la fibra no toque el agua!). / Place the fiber at the top of a pot with water to steam for 40 min (the fiber should not touch the water!)

7. Escurrir, aclarar hasta que no salga mas color y secar!. / Drain, rinse until you don't get more color in the water and dry it!

Es muy facil ya me direis que tal! / It is very easy, let me know how was it!

Pan / Bread

Últimamente estoy emocionada haciendo pan, estoy cansada del pan británico y sus precios. Al final terminaba siempre comprándome las barras preparadas para horno. Ahora estoy cansada, así que hace unas semanas decidí empezar a hacer pan. No era la primera vez, lo hacía cuando estaba en Noruega. Pero ahora he mejorado la técnica!

Lately I'm excited about making bread; I'm tired of British bread and its prices. At the end I always ended up buying the prepared bread ready for the oven. Now I'm tired, so a few weeks ago I decided to start making bread. It was not the first time; I did when I was in Norway. But now I have improved the technique!

El pan final. Finish bread

Se necesita una cazuela resistente al horno, harina, levadura en granos, sal, semillas o lo que quieres poner dentro. Y la forma de hacerlo es muy muy fácil.

You need an ovenproof casserole, flour, yeast in grain, salt, seeds or what you want to put inside. And the way to do it, it's very easy.

Activas la levadura (15min). En 375 gr agua templada pones 1 cucharadita de levadura y 1 cucharadita de azúcar, lo remueves y esperas. Esta activada si crea burbujas! / Active yeast (15min). In 375 g warm water put 1 teaspoon of yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar, stir and wait. The yeast is activated if you can see many bubbles!
Preparas la harina: 500g de harina, una cucharadita de sal y semillas. / Prepare the flour : 500g of flour, one teaspoon of salt and seeds.
Lo mezclas todo y lo dejas reposar por 3 horas, en un sitio húmedo y caliente. Si no tienes en casa un sitio húmedo o caliente el truco es USAR EL HORNO! calientas el horno a mínima temperatura, cuando metes la masa lo apagas, y a la vez metes dos cazos con agua hirviendo para mantener la temperatura y crear humedad!. / Mix it all and let it sit for 3 hours in a humid and warm place. If you don't have at home a warm and humid place, use a trick, USE THE OVEN! Preheat the oven to lowest temperature,turn off the oven when you put in the dough, and put two pots of boiling water to maintain temperature and humidity inside!
Despues de las 3 horas. Calientas el horno a 220 C, con una cazuela dentro. Parece que el verano ha empezado, con lluvias en España y cambios bruscos de temperatura en Inglaterra. Tengo el blog un poquitito olvidado por motivos de trabajo, últimamente no paro y creo que las semanas que vienen van a ser matadoras. Esta semana además he estado hablando con algún que otro amigo en España! Os echo de menos! Espero veros prontito!!

Look like the summer is already here, with rain in Spain and funny temperatures in UK. I couldn't write before, sorry I was a bit busy with work, and I think next weeks I will be more busy. This week also I spoke with some Spanish friends! guys I miss you! I hope see you soon!

Siempre quiero poner alguna foto para ensenaros donde estoy, pero siempre ando muy liada y se me olvida. El fin de pasado fui a Ely, donde tenemos una tienda de vinos y saque alguna foto de la catedral! Es increíble que un pueblo tan pequeño tenga una catedral tan grande y bonita.

I always want to put a picture of where I live, but I am always busy or I forget it. Last weekend I went to Ely, where we own a wine shop, and I took a picture of the incredible cathedral! It is incredible that in a tiny village you can find this amazing cathedral so big and sooo wonderful.

También he estado haciendo alguna manualidad, termine el regalo para el cumpleaños de Isa (que no puedo ensenar porque no quiero que ella lo vea) y termine un cuello con la lana que había teñido he hilado (aqui teneis la fibra antes de hilar). Aquí tenéis las fotos para que veáis como ha quedado!

I also finnish some projects. I finish Isa's b-day present, but I can't show a picture (she can see it!) and I also finish a cowl with the yarn that I dyed and spinnied (Here you can find the fibre). Bellow you can see the pictures!

Hace unas semanas Bego, me mando un kit para teñir con tintes naturales. El kit estaba compuesto por una pequeña madeja ya mordida y tinte catechu. La presentación de kit impecable. Tube la mala suerte de no poder haber hecho yo la prueba del tinte, pero le pedí a mi madre que lo hiciera por mi. Ella salio encantada, y viendo las fotos que me mando creo que el resultado fue muy bueno.

Few weeks ago, Bego sent me a kit to dye with natural dyes. The kit had a nice merino yarn already prepare for dye and catechu dye. The kit had a really nice packet. I had the bad luck of couldn't manage to dye myself, but I asked my mother to do it and send me pictures. She loved the results and as I could see in the pictures the result is really good.

Pronto Bego empezara a vender sus kit, y estoy segura de que tod@s estaremos encantados! Muchas gracias Bego por dejarme probar los tintes! y enhorabuena por la iniciativa, creo que es una idea genial!
