The ego has landed

noreply@blogger.com (Vash) — Fri, 04 Sep 2009 13:23:00 +0000

He’s back for good!

Robbie Williams caused Beatles-esque scenes of hysteria on Friday when he arrived in London to launch his new album.

The former Take That singer has been in the music wilderness for three years and has, by all accounts, spent most of his self-imposed exile holed up at his Los Angeles mansion obsessing about aliens and UFOs.

So WENN was delighted to catch up with Robbie as he left the Radio 1 studios to scenes of pandemonium.

Clearly, the Angels singer’s long absence hasn’t caused his fanbase to recede. Unlike his hairline…

On your bike, Russ!

noreply@blogger.com (Vash) — Fri, 04 Sep 2009 13:23:00 +0000

Tetchy Russell Crowe’s famously short fuse has blown yet again – the grouchy Gladiators star challenged a hapless female journalist to a duel…on bikes.

Crabby Crowe got all upset when gossip columnist Annette Sharp suggested in Sydney’s Daily Telegraph that – gasp! – the moaning movie star’s fondness for cigarettes and fatty food might not be all that good for his health.

Picking up the phone, Crowe’s rep contacted Annette and informed her the sulky star had challenged her to a bike ride, barking: “Are you ready to die?”

Plucky Annette couldn’t resist the challenge, and gamely pedalled frantically alongside Crowe through the streets of Sydney for 12 gruelling, sweat-soaked miles.

Russ – you really need to stop taking life so seriously…

What Went Wrong Wentz…?

noreply@blogger.com (Vash) — Fri, 04 Sep 2009 13:22:00 +0000

Red-faced wildman Pete Wentz threw a ‘wild’ pitch at Dodgers Stadium on Wednesday night (02Sep09), which turned his baseball dream into a fans’ worst nightmare.

The Fall Out Boy rocker failed to hit his mark as he hurled an opening pitch at Dodgers player Brad Ausmus, sending the catcher scrambling to save the bassist’s blushes.

And his poor start appeared to doom the Dodgers – they lost 4-1 to division rivals the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Wentz later took to his Twitter.com blog, writing, “Thanks to Brad Ausmus. Threw a wild one but he still caught it. Sticking to my day job!”

Although we’re not really sure if we are thankful for that either!

How did we live without you, LeAnn Rimes?

noreply@blogger.com (Vash) — Fri, 04 Sep 2009 13:21:00 +0000

I don’t think we have ever seen this much of LeAnn Rimes – EVER!!

The country singer-turned-actress is now constantly photographed lunching, shopping, running, frolicking or just generally out and about.

Rimes used to be one of those celebrities who shunned the limelight in favour of a quiet life with her husband Dean Sheremet.

Well that must have got boring – because in the last couple of months she has been accused of having an extra marital affair with her Northern Lights co-star Eddie Cibrian, denied the affair, dissolved her marriage with Dean and taken up with said hunky co-star Cibrian.

Phew, that must have kept her busy – now we’ll just sit back and wait for the upcoming album to be released. You can’t beat publicity like break-up and make-up publicity. WENN

Jackson's death ruled as 'homicide'

noreply@blogger.com (Vash) — Mon, 24 Aug 2009 11:51:00 +0000

Michael Jackson's death has been ruled a homicide, a US law enforcement official has said, in a move that could open the door to criminal charges.

The Associated Press reported that the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stated that the Los Angeles County Coroner had determined that the singer died after being given a lethal cocktail of pharmaceutical drugs.

It comes as court documents revealed that Jackson's personal doctor Conrad Murray administered a powerful sedative of the type believed to have killed him just hours before the pop star collapsed.

The developments have raised the possibility of charges being filed against Dr Murray, who has already been named as the target of a manslaughter investigation.

The LA County Coroner refused to confirm or deny the report by the Associated Press.

Captain John Kades, of the coroner's department, said: "We have not released any information on the Jackson case. We do not know where this information is coming from."

Under US law, homicide could refer to murder or negligent or reckless manslaughter.

Reports that the coroner had decided in favour of a homicide ruling came as court documents confirmed that authorities believe a lethal dosage of propofol killed the 50-year-old singer.

It also revealed that Dr Murray told police that in the day's before Jackson's demise he had administered several drugs to Jackson to help him sleep. These included propofol, which he administered via an intravenous line.

But he feared that the singer was becoming addicted to the drug and halved his dosage from 50 milligrams a night to 25 milligrams. The last time Dr Murray administered the medication was 10.40am on June 25 - just hours before Jackson's heart stopped.

Jacko Death: Beverly Hills Pharmacy Raided

noreply@blogger.com (Vash) — Mon, 24 Aug 2009 00:12:00 +0000

A Beverly Hills pharmacy has been raided by drug agents as part of the ongoing investigation into Michael Jackson's death.

Officers served a warrant at the Mickey Fine Pharmacy & Grill, seeking evidence of improper dispensing of controlled substances.

A police investigation into Jackson's death appears to be focused on the pop star's use of prescription drugs and on the doctors who treated him.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the singer's family said his funeral has been postponed by five days.

It means the King of Pop will not be laid to rest on what would have been his 51st birthday after all.

Ken Sunshine said the ceremony will now take place on September 3 but gave no reason for the delay.

Jackson's relatives had planned a private daytime service for August 29.

His body reportedly will now be interred in The Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn-Glendale in an evening ceremony five days later.

The cemetery is spread over eight miles of hilly land north of downtown Los Angeles.

The mausoleum includes a stained glass replica of Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper and replicas of Michelangelo's statues.

Jackson suffered cardiac arrest and died on June 25.

Iraq War Movie Tipped For Oscar Success

noreply@blogger.com (Vash) — Mon, 24 Aug 2009 00:12:00 +0000

A powerful new movie about the Iraq war is being tipped for Oscar glory - despite its tricky subject matter and lack of big name stars.

The Hurt Locker - which features only tiny cameos from Ralph Fiennes and Guy Pearce - has won rave reviews from critics, and is now an early contender for a prize for next year's Academy Awards.

The film follows a US bomb-disposal squad working to diffuse hidden roadside bombs.

It is directed by Kathryn Bigelow, and written by journalist Mark Boal, who spent time embedded with troops in Baghdad.

"It was an eye opening experience to see just how many bombs they would have to disarm on a given day" Boal told Sky News.

"It was really incredible, and hopefully some of that got transferred over into the movie."

With its shaky handheld camera, and little concession to any regular Hollywood plot, The Hurt Locker has been met with almost universal acclaim.

It was shot on location in Jordan, and rather than over-egg the ongoing, obvious political debate, it busies itself concentrating on the soldiers, who simply want to do the job, and do it well.

Bigelow, who previously directed Point Break, Strange Days, and K-19: The Widowmaker, says: "These are men who arguably have the most dangerous job in the world.

"They walk towards what we would all run away from, I think that's pretty interesting

"It's so inherently dramatic and I think our combined interest was to keep it reportorial, not to embellish it in any way. Just watching what they do on any given day was incredibly tense."

Films based on the War on Terror have mostly proved a tricky sell for audiences, who are already bombarded with images on their TV screens and newspapers.

But The Hurt Locker has performed respectably, if not spectacularly in the US, where it's on course to make $15m (£9m) during its cinematic run.

Its writer thinks it's a film everyone can relate to.

"It's more or less ordinary people in a very challenging situation" says Boal.

"They're doing extraordinary things and I think that's part of what makes the movie universal.

"In the sense that it really is in some ways a story of heroism and the cost of heroism, and survival and the ways people try to survive difficult situations."

Michael Was 'Murdered'

noreply@blogger.com (Vash) — Sat, 08 Aug 2009 00:24:00 +0000

Speaking out for the first time, the grieving sister of Michael Jackson says she thinks "a shadowy entourage" led to the death of her brother, accusing them of "murdering" him.

Speaking with Britain's Daily Mail, LaToya Jackson - who signed the King of Pop's death certificate - says that Michael was an isolated figure, making him easy prey for greedy associates. She accuses these people, whether it be doctors, handlers or assistants, of feeding Jackson drugs to control his moods in order to get what they want.

"I believe Michael was murdered, I felt that from the start. Not just one person was involved, rather it was a conspiracy of people. He was surrounded by a bad circle. Michael was a very meek, quiet, loving person. People took advantage of that. People fought to be close to him, people who weren’t always on his side," LaToya said.

LaToya then said that she predicted her brother's demise "Less than a month ago."

"'He’s never going to make it to London. He was worth more dead than alive," LaToya said she told fellow Jackson family members,

"I said I thought Michael was going to die before the London shows because he was surrounded by people who didn’t have his best interests at heart. Michael was worth more than a billion dollars. When anyone is worth that much money, there are always greedy people around them."

LaToya says Murray "disappeared" from the hospital after she began peppering him with questions about her brother's health. She says that Jackson was found in Murray's bedroom in the rental house, and that oxygen canisters and IV bags lined the walls.
