Severe Weather Awareness Week - Tornado Drill April 19, 2012

UW Superior will be participating in the state-wide tornado drill on April 19, 2012. The schedule set by the State of Wisconsin and National Weather Service for this drill is:

The National Weather Service will signal the start of the mock tornado watch at 1 pm, April 19 using a tone from the weather alert radio network. A "watch" means conditions are favorable for severe weather to occur. When a watch is issued, you should begin planning what to do if severe weather should develop.
The National Weather Service will issue a mock tornado warning at approximately 1:45-1:50 pm using the weather alert radio network. Everyone in the building is expected to take shelter when the announcement is made within the building. A "warning" means severe weather is imminent - put your plan into action and go to a shelter.
The drill will end at 2:00 pm and everyone can return to their scheduled activity.

Be sure to review UW Superior's Severe Weather Procedures, available on line. The recommended shelter locations can be found at the link above and posted at entry doors in each building. Remember: we have a new building on campus, Swenson Hall, with new shelter locations. A floor plan of recommended weather shelters is available at the link above --be sure to check out the shelter location nearest you while in Swenson Hall.

Fire Drills Scheduled for Sept. 26-30, 2011. Please submit schedule conflicts

Campus Safety and the Environmental Health and Safety Departments will be conducting our annual fire drills during the week of Sept. 26-30, 2011, 8 am - 4:30 pm.

Fire drills are always pre-announced, and notices are posted on the building entry doors the day of the drill in non-residential buildings. The time of the drill will not be pre-announced, but every attempt will be made to minimize inconvenience to classes and activities in session.

If you have a special event, exam, quiz, speakers, etc scheduled for Sept. 26-30, 8 am - 4:30 pm, we will attempt to schedule the drills around your event if you notify Carol Lindberg before 4 pm Wednesday, September 21. After 4 pm, Sept. 21, the fire drill schedule will be set and we will not be able to make last minute changes. Please send a brief email to Carol Lindberg (clindber@uwsuper.edu) describing:

Type of conflict (Example: quiz, special speaker, etc)
Time: start and end time please. (Example: 9:00 - 9:50 am)

Building:
