How to block unwanted calls & sms on Android devices

Looking for a simple way to block bugging calls and text messages on your Smartphone?

You might receive calls and SMS’s that are annoying to a great extent, ranging from creepy stalkers to sale managers and brokers to credit card callers. You just can’t stand those spam text messages and want an easy way out of this. Deleting them constantly and rejecting the calls ten times a day happens to be too bugging.

Here are a few methods by which you can get it done easily.

Method 1: By simple built-in call blocking feature on all Android 4.0 ICS devices.

Click your PHONE button to make a call> Select MENU> Select BLOCKED CALLERS> Press Menu to add callers to list

You’re done! The numbers you added will now be blacklisted from calling you.

Method 2: By downloading Blacklist app:

Go to Google Play Store> Search for an app named ‘Blacklist’> Download and install it> Commence the app

Follow the instructions below for details on configuring the app. Blacklist has various options and you can customize it according to your needs.

The settings can be accessed from the Setting pop up window:

To change blacklist settings,

Select MENU> Choose blacklist> Put the numbers that you want to block in that list.

You will get three kinds of options for blocking numbers in blacklist settings

Numbers not in my contacts, i.e. those numbers you haven’t saved in your phonebook.
Private numbers i.e. the callers does not send their number; you always see private number instead of a specific number or his/her name when a call is coming.
Specific numbers that might have been picked up from your call or SMS logs.

Tap on ‘+’ button to pick one.

Block Options:

There are a range of options available and you can customize blocking the way you want to.

Turn off ringer + block SMS
End call +Block
Turn off ringer
End call only
Block SMS only
Do not block

Click on ‘save’ after you’re done. Your settings will be saved.

You can click on a number to modify or delete it from the Blacklist settings.

Method 3: By using Call Blocker app:

Call blocker is a very useful app which provides a variety of options, it allows blocking with blacklists, allow with whitelists, block spam SMS; generate private contacts and much more. Download a premium version of this app and get rid of those unwanted calls and SMS’s easily.

Method 4: Using Easy Filter app:

Choose settings> select from the list what do you want to block> then choose among the three ways to block a call> choose whether you want to block a call, SMS or both.

Set a custom auto-respond text message for blocked SMS and/or calls, block/unblock private/unknown numbers and enable/disable notifications for blocked calls and SMS.

Enable notifications by clicking on the Notification on/off toggle button at the bottom of the settings menu if you want to allow notification sounds for blocked calls and SMS. It will add a notification icon for Easy Filter in the status bar. It also displays bar notifications for blocked calls or sms.

When you will access the Block List for the first time, a pop up will appear asking you to set a password for the tab. Set a password and do remember that every time you access the Block List you will have to enter that password. If you want to skip this step then you can simply click on Cancel Protection.

Click ‘Add’ button to add the number you want to block.

Add contacts in the Block List. There are a number of ways to add a number in the list. You can modify call/SMS blocking separately for each contact. Simply click on an added number and modify it.

Block numbers with a certain area or service code tap Add> Add manually and in the Add phone number screen click on ‘Start with’.

The Filter Records tab keeps a record of all the incoming calls/SMS blocked by the app. It also allows you to view the content of text messages from the blocked numbers viewing as Blocked Messages.

Block unwanted calls on your Android phone with this app.
