Who had anticipated that the two day game at Taunton will be remembered for Boucher’s injury?

Mark Verdon Boucher, a South African cricketer, announced his instant retirement from international cricket and admitted that he faced an ‘uncertain recovery’ and a fight to retain the sight in his left eye. From the time he replaced Dave Richardson until his retirement, Boucher was South Africa’s first choice wicket-keeper, and is widely considered as one of, if not the, greatest wicket-keepers South Africa ever had. His retirement will be a big blow to the team.

Boucher averaged just over 30 with the bat with five Test centuries, but his work behind the stumps set new milestones. He has a record number of 555 dismissals in Tests and 999 in all form of international cricket, an alluring one short of the thousand marks.

“Very sad Bouch’s career had to end this way. He deserved a really good send off for all he had done for the Proteas. Congrats on a great career,” Shaun Pollock, Former South Africa all rounder said.

Mark Boucher suffered a austere eye abrasion on 9th July 2012 which led to his abrupt retirement from International cricket. There have been times when wicket-keepers went down if something happens and the affliction they tend to get is a cut on the face or head. But when Boucher dropped down to his knees it was obvious to sense that the abrasion was something out of ordinary. Like most accidents it took a brace of events for it to happen. The most eccentric was probably that Boucher was not wearing a protective helmet or glasses rather he was wearing a cap. The chances of bail flying up and catching him right on the eyeball must have been acutely slim. But that is apparently what had happened and we now only hope that Mark’s eyesight is not affected long term. Tributes poured in from colleagues, opponents and admirers from around the globe.

In a statement read out by Captain Graeme Smith, Boucher said: “It is with sadness, and in some pain, that I make this announcement. Due to the severity of my eye injury, I will not be able to play international cricket again.

“I had prepared for this UK tour as well, if not better than I have prepared for any tour in my career. I had never anticipated announcing my retirement now, but circumstances have dictated differently. I have a number of thank you’s to make to people who have made significant contributions during my International career, which I will do in due course,” Boucher said in the statement.

“He’ll go down as one of the greats in the game. But right now we’re more worried about Mark the person and getting him through this situation,” Smith said.

KKR had a poor start to the tournament but at the end made to the finals of DLF season5 with seven consecutive wins in the campaign led by Gautam Ghambhir.

On the other hand Chennai has batted incredibly well in the Eliminators and the Qualifiers against Mumbai and Delhi teams respectively. Chennai’s last 3 match average while batting first is more than 200 runs. This reveals the efficiency of the team. Top order 6 batsmen are all in very excellent nick with the bat. We had seen M Hussey and Dhoni enjoying fantastically. But in CSK’s last match we saw a power pact performance of 113(58) by Murali Vijay. Now he became the first Indian batsmen to score 2 century in IPL history.

Kolkata would be confused in choosing their playing 11 for the DLF IPL 2012 Finals. There are a lot of views around. Possibilities are there M Bisla he is useful with the bat. S Narine has been in the best of his form. His 4 overs are unpredictable for the Batsmen. Chennai has performed 3 matches in last one week’s time and all matches have been won. MS Dhoni captaincy has been remarkable and so is Ghambhir captaincy.

Chennai performed their last go at their home ground and thus they will be better aware of the pitches in Chennai. The final is to be played at the same venue and as expected the Chennai Kings will be the favorites for the Day.

Even being in the top of the table in season 5 of IPL Delhi is now out from the competition. Chennai really performed and have proven why they won IPL truly and 2012 Could Chennai create the 3rd Successive WIN in DLF IPL?. Kolkata revolve around Gambhir and McCullum and thus if this couple is out in the beginning during the action certainly Chennai has 90% possibilities of winning the game.

Expected 11:

Chennai Super Kings: Murali Vijay, Michael Hussey, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (c & wk), S Badrinath, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Albie Morkel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ben Hilfenhaus, Shadab Jakati

Kolkata Knight Riders: Gautam Gambhir(c), Manvinder Bisla(w), Jacques Kallis, Manoj Tiwary, Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Debabrata Das, Laxmi Shukla, Rajat Bhatia, Brett Lee, Sunil Narine.

Defending champions Chennai Super kings will take on Delhi Daredevils in the qualifier2 of DLF IPL 2012 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. This particular game will ensure that Kolkata Knight Riders is going to play in the finals for the title clash.

Both teams were opposite to each other Delhi team ended up their league matches as the table topper but were thrashed by KKR in the qualifier1,on the other hand Chennai is blessed by some god grace entered into the playoffs and played bravely in the eliminator and defeated Mumbai Indians.

For Chennai point of view Skipper’s form clicked at the right time. When his team looked like completing the innings with an average total in the past go with against the Mumbai Indians, the CSK skipper switched on the heat. He obtained a 20-ball half-century (his first of the season) and played some electrifying shots all over the ground and put the score beyond the reach at of the oppositions. Yet another do-or-die competition for his team, expectation is high from Dhoni to give another unique performance.

In the Delhi Daredevils line-up, keep an eye on the two players at the top of the order. Virender Sehwag and Warner are among the most risky batsmen in world cricket currently. On their day, both batsmen are able of destroying the best bowling attack with ease. The Delhi Daredevils skipper obtained half-centuries in five successive innings; but after that run, he was taken to a stop. He has only made 49 runs in the next five innings. Can he generate a unique affect in this all-important clash?

Delhi lost one match in Chennai this year against CSK by scoring a low total of 114 runs on 12th may. They are looking for revenge. Whoever wins the toss will decide to bowl and keep the batting team limited to 120-130 runs, which is possible in Chennai pitch.

Expected 11:

Chennai Super Kings: Murali Vijay, Michael Hussey, Suresh Raina, S Badrinath, MS Dhoni (capt/wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Albie Morkel, R Ashwin, Shadab Jakati, Ben Hilfenhaus

Delhi Daredevils: David Warner, Virender Sehwag (capt), Naman Ojha (wk), Mahela Jayawardene, Ross Taylor, Venugopal Rao, Irfan Pathan, Pawan Negi , Morne Morkel, Umesh Yadav, Shahbaz Nadeem

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Mumbai Indians at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The losing team will quit the competition, while the champions will have to play the qualifiers against Delhi Daredevils to fix their place in the finals of DLF IPL 2012 against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 27.

Both teams would consider themselves fortunate to have created it to the top four. The Mumbai Indians have created it to the 2012 playoffs despite not enjoying to their potential. Chennai have been fortunate to arrive at the 2012 DLF playoffs. It was Bangalore unable to in cash the golden opportunity in a match against Deccan chargers unable to chase down the small total of 133 runs and made the way for Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team to qualify for the Play-offs, which has won just eight of 16 matches in league matches and holds better run rate in compare to Bangalore team.

In the Mumbai Indians line-up, keep an eye – as always – on Sachin Tendulkar. The Little Expert has had a normal competition by his standards; he’s only managed two half-centuries in 12 matches. The 39-year-old looked in good nick in the past go against the Rajasthan Royals – when he obtained an unbeaten 58 and was engaged in a match-winning collaboration with Dwayne Smith at the top order. Then there is Rohit Sharma, who has been outstanding in the middle order, while Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik have been quite useful. The presence of Kieron Pollard gives them a different aspect completely.

Mumbai team has a good pace attack with Lasith Malinga, their spearhead, has taken 22 wickets in 13 matches at a tightfisted economic rate of 6. RP Singh and Munaf Patel have been excellent in areas and Harbhajan, after a bad start with the bowl in the tournament, has showed some form in the last few suits.

In the Chennai line-up, look out for Murali Vijay, Hussey, and Suresh Raina and skipper MS Dhoni. Vijay looks totally out of form, if we compared his match-winning innings in the last IPL 2011; just 86 runs in his first eight innings this season, the 28-year-old seems to excellent chip made 48 runs against the Delhi Daredevils and 36 against the Kolkata Knight Riders, and he will look to precede the great work in all-important matches. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni have had inadequate competitions too; both players are yet to make a half-century this season and this could just be their time of reckoning. To say Raina – the biggest run-getter in the IPL – is the key to Chennai Super Kings’ achievements will not be wrong. Chennai have got a chance to retrieve themselves. If they can choose themselves up in the 2012 DLF playoffs and discover form, they can finish a hat-trick of titles.

Toss going to be crucial in the match, whichever team wins the toss would like to chase down rather than defending it. It’s a flat batting track.

Expected 11:

Chennai Super Kings: Michael Hussey, Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (capt/wk), Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Albie Morkel, Srikkanth Anirudha, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ben Hilfenhaus, Vijaykumar Yo Mahesh

Mumbai Indians: Sachin Tendulkar, Dwayne Smith, Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Kieron Pollard, James Franklin, Harbhajan Singh (capt), Lasith Malinga, Munaf Patel, RP Singh

It’s a Clash between two strong teams Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders in the first qualifier of DLF IPL 2012 at Pune’s Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium. Whichever team wins today will fix its place directly to the finals and losers will get another chance to try out their luck once again in the qualifier 2 with the winners of eliminator.

However, both teams will be aware of the truth that they have not been very effective in their last few league matches. The Delhi Daredevils had won eight of their first ten matches, but since then they have only handled to win three out of six matches. What should haunt the Delhi team is that, both the batting and bowling have not been so effective in their last three matches.

Despite completing the league matches with two consecutive victories, Kolkata team will know they were not at their best of the form in there few matches. The batting has not clicked as powerful as it did during their eight-match unbeaten ability and they will need their batsmen to come out and play their normal game at this important level in the competition.

Delhi has a very strong line-up in the batting consisting of Shewag and David Warner at the top and Mahela Jayawardene, who though is yet to create a powerful participation, gives a lot of protection in the middle order with his wide experience. Irfan Pathan have also played some useful knocks with the bat and took some crucial wickets for his team. They too had a good pace attack with Morne Morkel, who is the presently holds the purple cap with 25 wickets, and well supported by indian fast-bowling duos of Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron, and if the Pune track supports the quick bowlers then it can be predicted that Gautam Gambhir’s team have to be very watchful while play their strokes.

However kolkata features of a powerful bowling too, but the batting has been an issue. Gambhir has been in fantastic touch, reviewing 556 run in 15 matches, along with a accomplishment of four 50′s in a row, but there has been little assistance for him at the other side. His starting associate Brendon McCullum and Jacques Kallis have been in and out of form, Yusuf Pathan has obtained some runs in the last few suits but is still far from his best, and Manoj Tiwary is yet to perform a match wining innings. No doubt spinner are really performing well for them especially the West Indies bowler Sunil Narine has been unplayable and his 22 wickets in 13 match at an economic rate of 5.14 considered to be the best in this small format game of 20-20 cricket . Kolkata also have Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Iqbal Abdulla in their squad and the team can make damage for Delhi if the Pune pitches suits them.

The stats about the earlier league matches played in the Pune ground will relate you the whole story that, the team batting first have the winning tendency of around 62% and the team batting second have only 38% chance to win the match, so toss is going to be very much crucial and whichever team wins toss would like to bat first in the slow tracks of Pune were ball keeps low as the game progress.

Expected 11:

Delhi Daredevils : David Warner, Virender Sehwag(capt), Naman Ojha (wk), Ross Taylor, Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Venugopal Rao/Yogesh Nagar, Morne Morkel, Irfan Pathan, Pawan Negi/Shahbaz Nadeem, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron

Kolkata Knight Riders: Gautam Gambhir (capt), Brendon McCullum(wk), Jacques Kallis, Yusuf Pathan, Shakib Al Hasan, Manoj Tiwary, Debabrata Das, Rajat Bhatia, Iqbal Abdulla, Sunil Narine, L Balaji/Brett Lee.
