But – if you don’t have a soap holder for them, they go all squishy *sadface*. Hence I began a hunt for some handmade soap dishes.

I kept coming across this particular wooden design… and was comparing them all when it hit me – we have wood, we have wood-tools, and my husband Nick wants to get into woodworking! Nice circumstances, hey?

So I showed him pictures, gave him some measurements… and off he went. It seemed like only a few minutes later he wandered back in and showed me 2 soap dishes – a big one and a small one. And they’re brilliant! But don’t take my word for it…

You can see a bit of soap on them, I got so excited that I put them into use before taking photos, oops! I was rather impressed!

The soap you see is from my two fave Aussie soapstresses (I know that’s not a word, but I like it better than soapmakers) Erin from Inner Earth Soaps and Karen from New Earth Soaps.

And these ones weren’t taking *I’ll make . . . → Read More: I got distracted… and got creative…]]> Some of you may remember me mentioning in the last newsletter that I was working on a Spring Bridal range, featuring coin pearls? Well, I still am… I promise! I just got a little bit distracted this weekend gone when a whole other range of designs popped into my head.

And these ones weren’t taking *I’ll make you later* as an answer.

So, I spent hours sketching, measuring, cutting, filing, shaping, soldering, polishing… and this is some of what I created…

I think the leaf motif came about because it’s now spring here… and everything is warming up and growing!

And then there were the raindrops… it has been raining here lately, though hopefully not for much longer…

It’s been ages since I got so carried away making new designs – it was such a thrill!

Finally, some sweet little hearts…

So – what do you think? I’m a little in love with all of it, as always happens when I make new designs!

After finding the photo I shared in this post, I got the bug to try making a teacup succulent garden of my own!

I started with one lonely teacup from the local Sunday flea market. So, some op shopping was in order. But then, on Tuesday, I was up in Hamilton, helping to hand out flyers for the brisStyle market tomorrow… and there, at the church, was a big rummage sale!

I scored big after finding a stall that was full of crockery and teacups! Here is my haul:

I decided to stick to a blue and white colour-scheme.

We do have some succulents and cacti, but they’re all pretty happy where they are, so I decided to buy some new ones (plus a few strawberry plants)!

Nick and I then sat down on the grass – I potted, he added the pebbles… with an inquisitive kitty sniffing around (can you see the shaved bit from where they had to give him an ultrasound? Poor little mite)…

Now, the most exciting part – putting them all in their new home! The windowsill above my desk is now nice and full!

I’m super-happy with the result! I now have a lovely little garden to keep me company while I work (along with all my birdies, of course!)

I think the white pebbles really finish it off wonderfully – and I’m loving the fact I got to use the old teapot that I picked up a long time ago – from where, I couldn’t tell you!

So, I’m enjoying working a little more on my crochet while it’s . . . → Read More: Crochet Time… and an update on TGAGS…]]> Winter (or what passes for winter here – Nick the Englishman always laughs when I complain that it’s cold) is drawing to a close. Soon the days will be getting hot, then hot and muggy… and I will be waiting with baited breath for Autumn!

So, I’m enjoying working a little more on my crochet while it’s still cool. Here I’ve got the first squares that will go together to make my ‘white and bright’ blanket, which will look a little like the one in this post.

Also, those who’ve been reading Epheriell Designs for a while will know about The Great Australian Granny Square project, which is unfortunately on hiatus while we’re stuck at home.

I thought I’d give you a little peek at where it’s up to…

I’m itching to do more work on it! I’m hoping, *hoping*, we might get to go away for a week or two before my next specialist appointment, and if so – wheee!!!

And! A lovely online friend – Carley from VanillaPixie - asked if I was still taking yarn donations for when we get on the road. I said “of course!” and she sent me this most beautiful set of yarns!
