A shadowy figure can be seen passing in a corridor of the star’s former home, Neverland, although neither the presenter or the cameraman noticed the supposed apparition, UK tabloid The Sun reports.

Alas, the world must turn to its music magazine writers, such as Matt Taibbi at Rolling Stone, for the really colourful stuff when it comes to describing financial titans such as Goldman Sachs.

Mr Taibbi, who until now was best known for covering the 2004 election and a 2005 column entitled “The 52 Funniest Things About the Upcoming Death of the Pope”, used the flashy phrase when he took it to the Wall Street giant in a recent edition of Rolling Stone titled The Great American Bubble Machine.

But much more shocking than Mr Taibbi’s well-crafted paragraphs about Goldman Sachs engineering every great market event since the Great Depression, and running the US Government, was the reaction by the normally tight-lipped firm.

Instead of ignoring an article that accused it of rigging the booms in internet stocks, oil prices and mortgage-backed bonds alongside a cover of the Jonas Brothers, Goldman went running to Wall Street’s favourite tabloid, the New York Post, to defend itself.

“(Mr Taibbi’s) story is an hysterical compilation of conspiracy theories,” a furious Goldman spokesman, Lucas Van Praag, emailed the Post.

“Notable ones missing are Goldman Sachs as the third shooter (in John F. Kennedy’s assassination) and faking the first lunar landing.

“We reject the assertion that we are inflators of bubbles and profiteers in busts, and we are painfully conscious of the importance in being a force for good.”

Mr Taibbi, it appears, would not be chastened and responded to Goldman’s accusation that he was a conspiracy nut by doing what all good conspiracy theorists do – he blogged about it.

“Goldman has its alumni pushing its views from the pulpit of the US Treasury, the New York Stock Exchange, the World Bank, and numerous other important posts; it also has former players fronting major TV shows,” Mr Taibbi fumed on the Rolling Stone website. “They have the ear of the President if they want it.”

While the music magazine writer also produced a fairly entertaining online video outlining how Goldman alumni rule the world, he did little to back himself up.

Unfortunately for Mr Taibbi – whose gifts of prose cannot be underestimated – his entire thesis was large on colour and sparse on new facts.

Thanks to reporters at The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and the New York Post, we already knew Goldman Sachs alumni had positions in governments and influential bodies around the world.

We also knew that the firm was the biggest contributor to Barack Obama’s presidential run and that key members of its management and board were at the sides of Hank Paulson (another alum) and Timothy Geithner (another alum) throughout the financial crisis.

We also knew that Goldman Sachs profited more than any other bank during the sub-prime mortgage mess and that it sold out of its positions before the downturn hit hard.

We also knew that the company had been part of talks about whether to keep its competitor Lehman Brothers afloat.

Unlike Mr Taibbi, we knew all of this – and didn’t think it amounted to sinister conspiracy. Instead we thought this is what the biggest guy on The Street does.

What a load of unadulterated garbage. When the market falls, buying normalises the market. When the market peaks, selling normalises the market. GS does it, as does every decent bank in the free world, even our beloved Reserve Bank. The ARB has made a profit on every currency transaction it has made. People criticising GS and other investment banks need to get an education, seriously. Try Economics 101, or go and live in North Korea. Morons!

Who cares if his article alledges a conspiracy, that doesn’t make it right and it doesn’t make it wrong. What matters is, is it Ok for such large corporations to keep getting away with this stuff? The journalist who wrote the above article seems to have no moral compass at all: it is just “what the biggest guy on the Street does”. The point is, yeah, and why should they get away with it?

Oh come on! It was a well written and researched article. Actually I didn’t know that GS had participated so closely in many of the matters raised in the article. I certainly didn’t know that they had used their influence to sink the regulatory body that should have stopped the profligate greed surrounding the sub prime mess. GS is a dangerously large and uncontrollable organisation capable of great destruction in the pursuit of its “legitimate profit making”. Lift the lid and let’s have a closer look at how companies like GS systematically enable great financial and economic disruption purely to fill their coffers. Not to mention the renumeration systems they have in place to ensure they have loyal foot soldiers ready and willing to pump up the bubble and profit enormously before it bursts. Sorry, I live in a world of morals and GS has none…

Satirists mocking the monkish image warn it resembles a ridiculous robe worn backwards, and will cripple your sex and social life. That’s reminded me – I must wash my (acquired) pure wool Girl Guides poncho before I go down to Melbourne. That’s ultra-warm for the top half and I have worn it in public.

But as jokes fly thick and fast, sales have surpassed expectations. Comfy is apparently not so corny in the middle of a financial meltdown.

The initial run sold out in the US, where brave souls even donned the Snuggie for Barack Obama’s inaugural address in icy Washington DC in January.

Here in America, Snuggie chess clubs and snooker competitions are springing up, and a pub crawl is planned.

Doctors have managed to reattach the organ, and said that he was in a “stable condition”..

“Stuart had a very nasty accident with a saw but he is recovering now,” his mother Edna, 84,said. “He suffered tissue damage and had surgery to stitch him up which, I understand, was successful..

“I have spoken to him and he is quite embarrassed about the whole incident. I was in Somerset when it happened and got a call from the hospital..

“Hopefully he will be home next week and be able to get back to work which he loves..

“Stuart is a carpenter and uses sharp and sometimes dangerous tools. This was an unfortunate accident but these things happen all the time to people in his profession,” she added..

A spokesman for the South Central Ambulance Service said that paramedics had waited for police support because the patient was drunk, and a sharp blade had been used. A hospital spokesman said that the man remained in a stable condition after surgeons had carried out an operation to reattach the penis.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Myles claimed the incident was “a terrible accident” caused by a stomach bug that has been with him since before Origin II.

“I am just very embarrassed and very sorry,” Myles said.

The Roosters forward was staying at the Crowne Plaza Terrigal with teammates Mitchell Pearce, Willie Mason and Mark O’Meley at the weekend after attending a junior league fundraiser.

He said the group had been out until about 4am.

“I had been asleep for about four hours and I got up to go to the toilet,” Myles said last night. “It was dark and I was a bit dazed. The door to the toilet was right next to the entry door and I went through the wrong one.

“The door locked behind me and I was stranded.”

Myles said he had diarrhoea and was horrified when he realised he was locked out of his room.

He said he was still suffering from the same stomach bug that affected him while in camp with the Queensland Origin team.

He said despite being stark naked, he attempted to gain entry to a neighbouring hotel room where a family was leaving.

“I just asked them if I could use their toilet,” Myles said.

The family refused and shut the hotel room door, leaving Myles in the corridor. He said he then knocked on Pearce’s door but the halfback failed to respond.

Myles last night said he immediately offered to pay the hotel’s cleaning bill.

“I paid for cleaning straight away,” he said.

“Once again I would just like to say ’sorry’.”

Releasing a statement about the incident last night, NRL CEO David Gallop said: “I respect the fact that Nate tried to make amends to the guests involved and that he rang me to apologise but saying sorry simply isn’t enough.

“There are many inspirational people in our game from the grass roots to the NRL and they do not deserve to be associated with this sort of behaviour,” Gallop said.

The official NRL statement of the incident said noise complaints were made against the room in which some of the Roosters players were staying at 3.45am and 4am.

“Shortly after 8am on Sunday morning Myles was apparently disorientated and naked in a hotel corridor and attempted to gain entry into the room of a family who was leaving their accommodation,” the statement read.

“A short time after his entry was refused and the family had left he was found to have defecated elsewhere in the hotel corridor and was later discovered in a fire escape.”

Releasing a statement about the incident last night, NRL CEO David Gallop said: “I respect the fact that Nate tried to make amends to the guests involved and that he rang me to apologise but saying sorry simply isn’t enough.
“There are many inspirational people in our game from the grass roots to the NRL and they do not deserve to be associated with this sort of behaviour,” Gallop said.
The official NRL statement of the incident said noise complaints were made against the room in which some of the Roosters players were staying at 3.45am and 4am.
“Shortly after 8am on Sunday morning Myles was apparently disorientated and naked in a hotel corridor and attempted to gain entry into the room of a family who was leaving their accommodation,” the statement read.
“A short time after his entry was refused and the family had left he was found to have defecated elsewhere in the hotel corridor and was later discovered in a fire escape.”

A NEW Zealand teenager tried to sell sexy photos of his mother in her underwear online to make some quick cash.
While most 18-year-olds would balk at the thought of their parents naked, Auckland student Michael appeared comfortable with the concept, twice listing nude and semi-clothed images of his 44-year-old mother Jennifer.
The first time he auctioned “five naked photos of my mum” to annoy her after the pair had an argument, he told the Herald on Sunday newspaper.
When TradeMe removed the listing the following day he relisted a second series of “glamour photos” with her permission.
This time there was more clothing but one was an underwear shot.
Michael, who did not want his full name used, said he did it for the extra cash.
“We’re not rich or anything,” he said.
Jennifer said she was “pretty annoyed” by the first listing, calling her son a “cheeky little git”, but liked the second lot because they were “quite artistic”.

“What a crazy situation. I have applied for tickets knowing full well I could not afford a flight,” wrote one fan on a global fan club website.
Only 8750 pairs of tickets will be handed out for the event and officials have warned against scalping.
Organisers had limited tickets to US residents only, but yesterday opened the pool to fans worldwide.
The event will be televised, but footage will not be shown on giant TV screens outside the centre.
Australian booked to play
Jennifer Hudson is expected to be among the performers at the event and Jackson’s friend Elizabeth Taylor has been tipped to read the eulogy.
Australian guitarist Orianthi Panagaris, 24, who had been part of his comeback tour show, will also play.

The memorial website attracted hits at a rate of 120,000 a second for the first 90 minutes.

LOOTERS are believed to have stolen pumpkins and other vegetables from the wreckage of a crash that killed a truckie on Brisbane’s Gateway Motorway yesterday, police said.
The 47-year-old married driver from Lowood, near Ipswich, was thrown from the cab of his vehicle after it smashed into a guardrail and rolled on the southbound lanes of the road at Eagle Farm.
The truck, which was coming from far north Queensland and  headed for the Rocklea Markets, skidded on its roof, crushing the cab and splitting open the tandem trailers.
Pallets of pumpkins and boxes of capsicums were strewn over the roadway.
As one motorist stopped and rushed to offer what aid he could to truckie Andrew Saxelby, who was thrown from the cab down an embankment, another passerby stopped at the scene and began loading pumpkins and cases of vegetables into the back of his silver Holden Commodore utility, according to a report given to police.
He then got back into his car and drove south over the Gateway Bridge.
Last night, police confirmed they were investigating the shocking claim. The person who made the initial report is believed to be travelling and currently out of contact.
Police want to speak with anyone who might have also seen the alleged incident.
They also plan to examine footage from traffic cameras along the road and at the Gateway Bridge toll booth.
Queensland Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson said if the claim was correct, it was a “poor act”.
He said if evidence was found that supported the claim and led to a suspect, that person could be charged with stealing.
“On the face of it, it is a despicable act, particularly if assistance was required,” he said.
Transport Workers Union Queensland secretary Hughie Williams was outraged that a passerby could ignore a seriously injured truckie to get some free vegetables.
He called it a “despicable and ruthless” act.
“What has society come to? The Australian tradition is to give a helping hand, but instead this bloke apparently loaded his car with all the fruit and vegies he could find,” Mr Williams said.
“It is so hard to understand why somebody would do that.”
RACQ spokesman Gary Fites said if the claim was proven true, he hoped the incident was a rare and disappointing exception to the way most Queensland motorists look out for each other.
“If it is true, it is pretty callous. It surprises me,” he said.
“Everyone has a duty to render assistance to injured motorists until help arrives.”
Investigators are yet to determine the cause of the crash, which occurred in an area where extensive roadworks are under way as part of the Gateway road and bridge duplication.
Police said it appeared the truck failed to take a bend.
They are investigating whether fatigue or speed were involved.
Mr Saxelby’s employer, Interstate Transport Logistics, declined to comment.
However, Mr Williams questioned whether the Gateway in its current state was suitable for such B-double semi-trailers.
