Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood Conclude U.S. Tour At The Hollywood Bowl

Since 10 June, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood have been doubling up on the star-power as their tour crossed the United States, revisiting some of the music that brought them together 40 years ago in Blind Faith. The tour has garnered rave reviews from fans and critics, and the final concert at the Hollywood Bowl on 30 June was no different. Eric was in particularly fine form on the blues-based numbers, filling them with electrifying runs and wringing emotion from his stratocaster. It was also a long show, clocking in at about 2 hours 20 minutes. One concert-goer wrote in a brief email, "Tremendous show, Eric was on peak form, display machine-gun like powers on all the blues numbers and virtually everything in his path. Winwood equally a force on keys, vocal and guitar." For more details...

Clapton / Winwood Tour Reaches West Coast

Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood have reached the west coast of the United States as their co-headlining tour winds down. The next-to-last performance took place at Oakland's Oracle Arena on 29 June 2009. Like all of the shows on their tour, it was another no-holds-barred all-around great performance. Steve once again performed "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" and "There's A River" as "his" numbers. One fan emailed Where's Eric! shortly after the show with the set list. Their brief comment, "Clapton / Winwood and band ... amazing. Biggest highlights among many for me were Steve's Low Spark, Voodoo Chile and Cocaine. They started trading solos right from the opening song." Eric Clapton's and Steve Winwood's 14-date U.S. tour wraps tonight (30 June) at the Hollywood Bowl....

Clapton / Winwood Rock Las Vegas!

Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood shared the stage Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their 14-date U.S. tour is in its final stages, with only two shows remaining in California. Steve Winwood continues to tweak "his" songs; "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" was back as Steve's solo number and "There's A River" was performed for the third night in a row. One fan emailed Where's Eric! from their iPhone, "Clapton and Winwood were great in Vegas. But no one is saying enough about the band. The back-up vocalists are superb, what a set of pipes those beautiful ladies have. Abe Laboriel Jr? BEST drummer EC has had on the road with him in decades. Add legendary sidemen like Chris Stainton and Willie Weeks and you have a recipe for perfection!" Another quick email after the show said, "EC and Stevie Winwood are in their prime - age is a number. Best songs were Low Spark, Tough Luck - killer solo by EC, Voodoo Chile and Dear Mr. Fantasy. Can't believe I heard the entire first side of Blind Faith LIVE! Coolness." And the succinct, "After the show, I wanted to spray paint Clapton is God on the wall of the MGM Grand." For the complete set list...

Clapton / Winwood Concert Review: 26 June 2009 in Glendale, Arizona

There were a few minor adjustments to the set list for the concert on 26 June 2009, with "Georgia On My Mind" coming back as Steve Winwood's solo number and "There's A River" again taking the place of "No Face No Name No Number," as it has several times on the tour. The news was a bit slow coming in from Glendale, Arizona ... it must be the heat as there were reports it was 106F ... but it was worth the wait. The Where's Eric! Team is going to take the night off and let Mike Eagen of Phoenix tell you all about it ......
