Twitter somewhat started late 2006 with its founder Jack Dorsey. A couple of months soon Twitter became a big hit in online social networking. And after barely two years, members ballooned up to more than a million members.

What is now about twitter is its simplicity to get updates to your network where the tool is designed to simply accept update of no more than 140 characters. It is like a mini blog where they coined it as a microblogging tool.

The tool is inserted to your profile page such as your blog and other profile pages for readers to get a glimpse on what your are currently doing or may also be what you are currently thinking. This makes it look like a blog within a blog, a mini blog perhaps.

Accordingly, it is not just about that but also for third party add-ons that many users like such as the one shared by the Bizdrivenlife blog that includes; Twitterfeed, Twitternotes, Twittermail, TweetStats, Twitpic and many more.

I had started to use twitter over a month ago on my previous blog and has since then stopped and was not able to bring it on this blog. Well, I guess twitter being the next big thing online I must get back to using it again!

I would love to hear your thoughts on twitter.

If you are running a blog for your own good, chances are that you will probably have some challenges after setting it up. From designs down to the deepest technical issues that might invlove a little of a coding or manipulation of css, as well as other php files.

As I share this information on how to run a blog smoothly, I take firmly on the most important rule is for you to have a common sense. If your sense is uncommon chances, then chances are it might take a bit longer than usual for you to run it smoothly.

Again, as the number rule, always Use Your Commons Sense.

When setting up a blog, its common sense most of the time. And take it from me it is 60 to 80 percent common sense when setting up the design.

Stop asking how to change the Stumble Upon logo to something that is followed by Stumble Upon text. All you have to do, is to check the filename on the folder and replaced it. Common sense, isn’t it?

Stop telling to yourself that I do not know how to insert image any more after inserting one image by copying and pasting a code. All you have to do is to change the image source for that same code. Definitely knowing this things through a common sense makes bloggin life smoother.

Another rule, that somehow still would require common sense is to Regularly Back Up Your Blog.

You may want to back up your blog as often than your are having updates, that is perfectly fine! You regularly back up your blog to keep comments, and articles with you all the time.

If you do not back up then chances are you will lose all your files and articles whenever it will be hacked.

Share with us your experiences to running a blog better.

I use google primarily due to its effective search engine results, it is cleaner and more accurate. However, as I go along I found several useful features of google that is very helpful on my day to day activities and can make life easier for us which others do not have.

The Dictionary Feature

All bloggers and writers may need to scan through a dictionary from time to time. But with the built in dictionary feature of google everything just happens in a click.

All you have to do is type in “define:word” in the search box without the quotation. And replace the “word” with the word you want to be define and hit the search button there you are. A list of definition comes out.

The Calculator Feature

At times, you may want to compute something and doesn’t want to get out of rhythm by minimizing your browser and going to calc (on your desktop) or getting an independent electronic calculator.

Google solve that problem for you with its built in calculator feature. Just simply type in numbers you want to compute e.g “9/2″, “69*5″, “8900-39.25″ without the quotation and hit the search button. Result pops out!

Webpage Translation

Google translate translates foreign websites to your language of preference. Currently it offers 23 languages available for translation. This is most useful to <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.ericgo.net/category/business-and-entrep" target="_blank">business people who wishes to source products in foreign countries and many more.

Google Documents

If you are having problems accessing documents, Google documents will help you solve that problem.

Google documents enables you to store Office spreadsheet, Office presentation, Office documents securely online. So you can access this document anytime anywhere from around the world.

You can even create your presentation online while you are away and simply download that file for it to be opened in PowerPoint on your big day.

Question and Answer Feature

Try to ask google question and he will give you answer. The answer comes out on top of the search engine results.

For instance, on the image left, I asked google on the “birthplace of Michale Jordan”. The result comes on top of the search engine at Brooklyn New York. You may want to ask questions on the “population of China”, “Currency of Brazil”, “Birthdate of Michale Jackson” without the quotation of course.

There’s actually a whole lot of Google features available but these five I find the most useful. Share with us the most useful feature of google you had experienced through the comments facility.

The third son insists, father you take good care of you health so you will be alright, because health is wealth.

As he began, he called the first son;

Son, you will receive from me 50 million dollars as you share of fortune after I die.

He then followed calling on the second son;

Son, you will receive the other half from me for 50 million dollars after I die.

The third son screamed. Dad but where is my share of fortune?

Our <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.ericgo.net/category/business-and-entrep" target="_blank">business is in the construction supply industry specifically categorized to as a distribution company. Over the last eleven months, certain things came in as success unexpectedly, serendipity? Isn’t it? And had thought twice whether this is for real! But of course it is. Though closing deals in the red ocean is really really hard, it takes certain innovativeness to make it. So here I am sharing to you things that I had documented on why do people want to work with me.

I Do Set Appointment for Meetings

Take note of the word “meetings” not “meeting”. When others had visited the potential account once, I had visited them twice or thrice or even more already. In my own judgment, this would enable them to think that I am serious about the deal and most importantly I am serious about them.

I Do Offer a Fair Deal

When offering a deal it must be a win-win situation for both parties involved. A hundred bucks of a deal for a year worth of service is disadvantageous to the <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.ericgo.net/category/business-and-entrep" target="_blank">business. To be able to capitalize on this element, here lies the importance of <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.ericgo.net/category/business-and-entrep" target="_blank">business intelligence - gathering information critical for decision making such has who is our competitor, how much is their offer among others. An offer that is not too low or too high, just fair enough.

I Give Constant and Short Updates

People want to work with me because of my ability to constantly communicate. I do give short updates from time to time regarding their purchases. A short SMS will normally do for a short update. An important lesson to note in this category is that client does not get upset because we are unable to get things done, but they do get upset because of failure from us to inform them earlier of what really happened. For short, they get upset because we kept them hanging.

I Do Admit My Mistake

By admitting you had done something wrong is important because it will forever be the only way for you to move on. When you move on fast, you get to resolve issues quickly. When you start not to face it and become a scapegoat, it will cause delay in resolving issues. Dragging happens.

I Don’t Get Lost After a Closed Deal

For me this is the very most important, we do have lots of principal whom we cannot hear about for months or years after a deal has been closed. When I engaged, I do make sure that whatever problems or issues that may arise before or after a deal has been closed I am their for them.

You, why do people want to work with you I would like to hear that through this blog’s comment facility.

After several months of setting up an email or blog account normally what you would experience is how fast spams attack your email and blog. And now starts to think whether you really need a dosage of Viagra, how to satisfy someone in bed steel hard, give confidential information such as bank account and whether those million dollar fortunes are real. But the truth is that all of these are spams.

After several years on spending time on the internet, I had documented some practical tips on how to prevent from receiving these spams that might be of help.

Never Exposed Your Email

As the number one rule - never ever exposed your email. On the interent, people create system that crawl to websites to look for the symbol “@”. And once found, attacking never stops. As a recommendation, one may use “[at]” and “[dot]” as a substitute. Another would be to use images instead of text. You can also use forms to let someone simply click on a button to send email. There are several free web forms being offered for free.

Never Ever Respond to Spams

As a second tip, never ever respond to spams. Their persistence continues when they had confirmed that an email is indeed active and used. When you respond to emails asking for complete name, telephone, address you might be in big trouble, since this information are often used to hack identities. So responding to spams is a no-no.

Auto Filter Keywords

Though sometimes it doesn’t work very effectively, this can be helpful. By filtering spam keywords such as viagra, sex, adult, nude, undress, software, discount, hook up tonight and many more emails containing these keywords can be automatically deleted or put up in the bulk folder.

You can resort to this as a last priority, because sometimes emails that are not spams might be automatically deleted that results in to you not receiving it.

Use Human Identifier Software or Plugin

For a blog, one may use human identifier plugin. What is this? A form below the comment facility on your blog that enables reader to match the word being shown on the graphics. A variety of this plugin test the mathematical skills of a reader be letting him add 1+1 or 1+2. If you don’t have these, then comment moderation might be of help.

Avoid Articles that Attracts Spam Commenters

Articles such as “free link back” is a no no in blogging. Since this attracts spam commenters and your blog will be subject for attack.

Ever wondered who came out the winner of the Microsoft and Yahoo deal? According to Clayton Moran, an analyst of the financial services firm Standford Group:

“We think Google’s the winner, Its two main competitors are separate and floundering.”

Though several lessons had been learned on the deal, one of the most notable is sometimes to bargain. A 47.5 billion dollar isn’t bad after all. I had just thought that sometimes how I lose a deal because of wanting a higher price. Accordingly, Steve Ballmer believes that the business isn’t over rumors has it that Microsoft will rebid at the end of the year.

But in the meantime, so to catch up with the winner, Google, Ballmer had continually laid out plans on how to top online advertising leader google. Google topped the market with approximately 75% market share while Microsoft at about 4%. And the rest is for second place Yahoo.

However, there are other online advertising aspect where Microsoft expects to have headway - video advertising which is expected to grow in the next couple of years but still, dominated by Google. Another lesson that might be learned from the deal is persistence. According to Ballmer:

“We’re very persistent,iIf we don’t get it right, we’ll keep coming and coming and coming.”

As I see it, statistics shows that it might be very hard for Microsoft to make a headway. But with those lessons, I think Microsoft will give Google a run for their money that only after several years to come.

I would like to hear from you whether who you think is the winner and add up to the list of lessons from the tech giants’ deal.

What is a linkbait? And why is it a very powerful Search Engine Optimization Tool? Well, linkbait is in any form of article that catches the readers attention and in such a way bait them to link to it. A linkbait article must be something of genuine and informative that people sees it as something useful for others to know. Thus, linking to them.

So far, though I had been blogging for almost three years and (my first blog was with EntrepreStuff, a blog when I was still a junior blogger) this site had gotten three linkbaits. Not bad I think for a three months old site? The articles that got the bait was:

Simple Search Engine Optimization for Beginners

Tips to Writing Better Articles

Why exactly is it very powerful? Because your credibility as a website depends upon the number of quality incoming links from other sites. And normally, this results into higher search engine rankings.

Tips to a sustainable linkbaiting campaign as of my experience blogging is quality content topping the list. For readers to continually bait to you, you must right quality articles spelling and grammar error free. The relevance of the article according to current events is also a key. For short, it must be timely. Writing articles about the current political turmoil and recession in the United States as of this was written might be a good match for the timely and relevant.

And to encourage even more baits most importantly is to write informative articles where people find it worthy of sharing. A good example for these informative articles are the best wordpress plugin, wordpress themes, installations, making money online, history, events and many more. As long as it is giving information to readers I guess you are on the right track!

Admittedly saying social networking technology is a fad in the web today. More and more social networking sites such as myspace, facebook, multiply, friendster are coming. You are not even “in” today if you don’t have a twitter. Even I myself has been a member several of these. But how knowledgeable are members of these sites about their privacy? Not so much, I guess. Spams and impersonators to seek information from someone has been hounding these sites.

When using these, it is extremely important to be knowledgeable of your privacy settings. First step is to be cautious on who to accept to your network list. Setting it for it to be only viewable by your network might help. But third or fourth degree network can also sometimes view.

In lest of information that might be stolen, it is adviseable only to give personal information at certain level. It shall not reach to a point where it encourages online theft to hack your account such as exposing security questions. Lastly, but not the least, it is most notable for social network members not to have the same password as your personal email and other important areas online.

And speaking more of these social networking sites, a new social networking site is up and is called Moli (visit Moli.com). It allows members to create multiple profiles in one account. But the site might not do good for the individual that does not walk and talk.

Personally, if you’d like one to view your profile, I recommend linkedin. It is a business social networking site with a professional look without those smileys and gift giving features. You may view my linked in profile here.
