I just finished listening to When We Were Wizards and it was very informative. It's a 14-episode documentary podcast that charts the rise and fall of E. Gary Gygax, the co-creator of the role-playing-game phenomenon Dungeons & Dragons and co-founder of the company that produced it, TSR Hobbies. It’s a story about the personal toll success can exact on friendships and families, especially when corrupted by greed, lust, and human folly.

Sorry you had such a lousy experience there. And even though I attended ~15 years later, I completely agree that "Except for a handful of serious students it was a school for delinquents and if future losers." (And I was one of those delinquents, but fortunately managed to avoid deserving the loser label.)

I went to Corlears from 1968 -1971. The day I graduated from thatpit was the happiest day of my life. Why? In eighth grade there was a student who molested the girls, but was promoted to S.P. because he was Black and that disgusting teacher preferred Blacks over any other students and the teacher was white. Another my teacher who had an even active in the Civil Rights struggle, ignored all the anti -white and anti- Jewish attacks in the school. Except for a handful of serious students it was a school for delinquents and if future losers. I threw the lousy year book in the garbage after I mutilated it.

This was my first consulting job and I learned some good lessons here. When I started, there was a huge backlog of tickets for the clients I supported across two floors. Once I resolved all the tickets, I was told circle the floors and visit all offices to find out what projects people were working on, what obstacles they faced, and how I could help. This type of proactive approach seemed ludicrous at the time, but I decided to put my all into it, thinking it would completely backfire. But it turned out to be a very positive experience, and helped frame the way I approach client support to this day.

I got a new computer, and when I moved my 2TB hard disk to it, the the drive letter changed. I asked the agent at Carbonite if they could change the drive letter in their system so that I would not have to backup all the files from scratch. But they insisted that was not possible. To me it sounded like the agent just could not understand what I was asking. Either way it was very disappointing.

I use the 120 lb dumbbells today for presses. I only did 5 reps, but I was happy. I was afraid that after my last vacation, it would be the end of me using the 120s.

Some things change and some things are still the same.

At some point, probably three years ago, they increased the dumbbells and now they go up to 120 pounds, which is great!

But just this week they replaced the cable fly machine with a better one, and the preacher curl machine. The preacher curl machine was installed backwards, so that the preacher pad faces the low rack so it is hard to reach, and the vertical pad faces the high rack where there isn't enough room to curl. https://uploads.disquscdn.c... https://uploads.disquscdn.c...
I mentioned it to the staff and he got a bit upset and said it was what it was and no one would fix it. A few minutes later he said he would escalate it. A few minutes later he was talking about getting maintenance to fix it. So hopefully it won't be as much of a hassle as last time. We'll see tomorrow.
