I am sorry to hear this might not last - I read it daily as it helps me stay informed now that I live in Florida. Better than GoErie.com.

I too would like to see Dennis come back and help with the writing.

I hate to see one more thing in Erie that is good, get lost.

I really hope someone picks this site up from you Mike. I read it at least 3 times a week. You do a fabulous job & I appreciate all of the work you have put into it. Especially since Rich had to bow out. Many blessing to you no matter what happens.

I really like your blog and read it every day. I know the pressures of trying to keep one up. Mine is just occassional. Can't imagine having to write on every morning.
Hope someone comes in to help you keep this thing going. It would be a shame to have it end.

Whose idea was it to cover the road leading from the parking lot
with those large white stones. They could have saved some money there.
They not only detract from the natural appearance of the area, but are very difficult to walk on.

Total Crap! - criminals do not get to keep benefits - he will be in jail and will be getting 3 hots and a cot all on the taxpayers tab - His pension should go back to the state for repayment of his living expenses and medical care - and for the cost of the investigation and trial as well as restitution.

If it was good enough to dish out - Maximum Mike, it should be good enough to eat it yourself.

That stands to reason, PR, but I don't think anyone should have to pay 50 bucks just to apply. All the qualifications you mention are necessary, but lets not toss anyone out without a chance to try. BTW, being so hatefully racist is not a very good example for someone who is putting down an entire class of people.

Just because they apply doesn't mean they're smart enough to pass the test. I don't want some dummy trying to rescue me. The old days of just shooting water are gone. You need to have a good education and be able to think about what you're doing before running into a burning building. I'll be surpised if any minorites nake the cut. Of course then the black clergy will want to dumb down the test so their boys and girls can pass.

I wonder how many of the 300 plus applicants are minorities? With all the talk of discrimination coming from the Black community, it would seem to me that there should have been a significant number. Could it be that the 50 dollar fee is a factor? Perhaps the fee should be waived if the applicant is laid off. At the very least, the initial screening process prior to testing should not require a fee. Let's do something to give some folks a chance to get out of their holes and succeed.

Moski, even if Erie opened the franchise, it is not a populated or profitable enough area to overbuild a completely separate cable plant. Building a HFC plant from scratch costs an insane amount of money.

There are very few areas that have been overbuilt by a second cable company. The largest overbuilder in the US, RCN, had to file for bankruptcy a few years ago.

Erie would really "ROCK" if it didn't have Time Warner.
This "franchise agreement" is nothing more than a government protected monopoly.
The Time Warner Cable franchise agreement should be dropped and open competition allowed. Let the market decide not corrupt politicians.

I went to collect my $2 late last night, we went in at 10:30pm, the promo ended at 11pm.

Was busy, but was able to cruise right up 97, into the lots (upper lot was full) and get in and out without a hubbub.

There was no real line to redeem your ticket at that point.

I pocketed the $2 in cash I "won" and spent an old $3 voucher I had from a slot machine. In and out in about 25 minutes!

i had the opposite experience out and about yesterday. everyone was so friendly and nice. jonathan in plumbing at home depot rocks! he went above and beyond in helping me fix my burst pipe in my basement.. and everyone else i came across seemed to be in a good mood and enjoying the day. it was almost surreal how happy people seemed.
