I chose the unthinkable…a Network Marketing Company

In my mind, I would NEVER choose to work for a network marketing company. I never wanted to host a class, attend a party or invite people to anything that they would be sold to. I avoided it like pesticides..for real.

For those of you who knew me before doTERRA you know I was and always will be committed to educating, empowering, encouraging and making impact in the world. I was fulfilled in those commitments when I was creating and running End Sex Trafficking Day, coaching clients one on one, in my ebook Amp Your Ask and in my group coaching courses like Rocket Your Revolution.

And I probably would have kept it all going but the amount of time I spent creating was not giving me a consistent income that was benefiting my family in the way I dreamed it would and more importantly I didn’t feel like I had a team to lead and a team to support me. I felt alone. And the only way I would have support was to hire it.

And then I found doTERRA.

(Insert a fresh breath of air)

I could go on for hours about why I chose doTERRA but for time purposes, I mean I only have two hours at the y each day with childcare, I will keep it to 3 reasons

<noindex></noindex>

doTERRA is committed to living up to their name in every way possible:

doTERRA means gift of the earth and their oils are just that. They are certified pure therapeutic grade oils, third party tested and can be used for your entire family in three ways; aromatically, topically and internally.d?TERRA has also been a gift to our family by their company culture. They were recently voted #10 out of 250 best mid sized businesses to work for by Forbes. I mean from their focus on personal development, free oils to a free trip for Fred and I to Cancun in January of next year, they are so amazing and integrity filled! They are also the most generous company I’ve ever partnered with and they are committed to making impact in the world with their co-impact sourcing. This made me feel ok leaving End Sex Trafficking Day.

They are full of integrity and it’s paying off! They are 8 years old, debt free and a billion dollar company!

These oils are changing lives in so many ways

I’ve shared doTERRA oils with hundreds of people over the last year and they are changing so many lives! Every day I hear from someone who is now experiencing freedom and wellness because they’ve started using d?TERRA oils for their families health or cleaning, making diy beauty products or mood support.I knew the power of them when we began using them on my daughter to support clear airways – we’ve never looked back. And now they not only have changed our lives because of how they’ve impacted our health and wellness but how they’ve changed our lives financially. I couldn’t even afford my kit when I got started and now I’m on track to retire my husband so he can build his dream full time!

Sharing doTERRA as a business doesn’t compare to anything I’ve ever done

In my previous online biz, the money wasn’t consistent and I didn’t have anyone giving me guidance that was strategic yet I LOVED coaching and encouraging women. I mean I loved it! So I was very hesitant to give that up.I was surprised to find out that my growing team of miracle making leaders would need my coaching too…only now we are all working towards one common goal – sharing wellness + miracle making – and it’s incredible!

I have amazing mentors guiding me weekly, and because of it and the fact that I work my butt off I’m at a rank that usually takes people 3 years to get to and I made it in 13 months! I work with incredible group of women that I’m honored to call my partners who are building their business with me. We are all passionate about personal development and making a difference in peoples lives with these oils.

Call me the oil lady, call me a hippy, call me what you want but I’m so ecstatic to be working with the women I do, doing the work we do and getting blessed financially the way we are. I feel like such a blessed girl! My daughter now says she wants to have her own oil business when she grows up.

This is why I chose doTERRA <3

(this image has nothing to do with this post but I had it in France and it was to die for, therefore it’s worth using)

Three years ago, I sat around a small table at the Hyatt in Detroit trying to muster up an “A” answer to my coach, Erika <noindex></noindex> Lyremark’s question, “What’s your red carpet dream?”

I sat irritated with myself and bummed I was letting her down (even though I wasn’t) because I just couldn’t come up with an answer that felt like me. That didn’t stop her, so she tried again, “Ok, well who online are you jealous of, or who would you love to do business like theirs one day.”

I answered that question without a hesitation, “Nisha Moodley,” I said. Erika probing me even more, asked, “Why, what about her business?”

“The traveling, retreats, connection, intimacy, freedom and vulnerability of her and her work is what I was most attracted to her work for.” It took me a few years, but once The Meeting Place began to form, I began to see that that is where this work of mine will come to be.

Which is why once I announced I was quitting my coaching business, Erika asked me again, “Can you tell me what your red carpet dream is NOW?”

I responded with excitement and as fast as my fingers would allow me to type. “To lead a diverse, living their best life group of women who love themselves and God and others. They are chasing their dreams and changing lives. This will include me writing another book, leading retreats, and helping women get healthy naturally.”

I beamed with joy when I read her response, “I’m finally satisfied with your answer, you get an A+, !”

Erika wasn’t the only woman who helped me evolve my business along the way, ever since I started End Sex Trafficking Day, God has blessed my life with so many women who are there when I need them, there to give me advice when I need it most.

So today I want to share some of the best advice that helped me come to the place I am now…the place where I knew I had to give up my old red carpet dream, the dream that I thought I had, the dream that told me I had to do what nygoodhealth.com everyone else was doing. The “Marie Forleo dream”, the “Danielle LaPorte dream” I was ready for my dream, and I hope this helps you stand up for your dream too.

Christina Rasmussen once told me, “this is just your beginning. You are different from all the others…follow that difference within you. It will lead you to where you are meant to be.

This helped me realize, my best work hasn’t even happened yet as I had been living in fear thinking it was done and over.

Tanya Geisler once said, “It’s called expansion and everyone (EVERYONE) faces the pain when they decide to do so. You following your own path, is brave stuff. Watch your kids as they start and play. They don’t question the outcome. And when you are doing your best work, you don’t either.”

This helped me realize, I wasn’t crazy. The evolution was normal, we all do it and yes it hurts and yes it’s frustrating, but it MUST happen.

Amanda Farough once reminded me that “Perfect is the enemy of done.”

I’ve always, always wanted things to be “just right” but in reality it’s only held me back.

There have been so many other much needed pieces of advice since 2011, but these are the ones that stand out. So thank you Amanda, Erika, Tanya, Nisha and Christina your words and work still ring true to me today.

What pieces of advice stand out for you? What piece of advice are you so glad you received when you needed it? Remember that today — write it down if you need to, at times we all need those words to motivate us to keep going.

What am I up to now, since quitting?

I am now helping women help their families heal and love naturally, leading a fitness challenge called fitSpark for The Meeting Place AND still hooking you up with my unique courses for hundreds of dollars off for a few more days here.

What can you do now?

</noindex> coming home, I’m coming home, tell the world I’m coming home.”

My business started in 2011 out of my deep desire to be at home with my one year old daughter Zoe and put my entrepreneurial spirit to work. I started creating, and it felt to so good to have someone pay for something I created with my hands.

But I knew there was more.

I started putting my education and passion to work to coach female business owners. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. In 2012 my passion and creativity collided when I started End Sex Trafficking Day after seeing an eye-opening documentary about modern day slavery.

This movement catapulted my business, my credibility, my reputation. TEDx, Marie Claire, USA Today, Huff Po all of a sudden I was being featured all over the place and believe me it took a lot of asking. I then created a one of a kind course called Rocket Your Revolution and was working one-on-one with business owners who wanted to build a do good campaign into their business as I had.

Something was missing.

I decided in May of 2014 to take my site down while I figured it out at a retreat I was speaking at in France. In the beginning of 2015 I relaunched with a focus on helping women make real progress on their big ideas with action and heart.

My frustration in myself began to grow as it still didn’t feel right — something was missing.

You may have heard some or all of the story above, but now I’m going to tell you a story you haven’t heard.

I may have managed to graduate with a Masters degree in 2005 and all looked wonderful, but inside I was a mess. I had been in a relationship with an abusive alcoholic for 3 years, partying almost every night and just so desperate for real love that I would accept any kind of love. Until one day I went to a diverse church across the street — my world was forever changed. Not only because I grew up Lutheran and this church had a message that kept me awake but because my eyes were opened to God’s love for me and he saved me from myself and my destruction right then and there.

Within a few months I started dreaming crazy dreams. Seeing myself on stage with my future husband, seeing lives impacted, seeing crowds of people and a big responsibility. When I met my husband in 2008 and shared these dreams with him, and he shared his with mine, I knew he was the one as God had been showing us the same things. A compassionate place with a heart for God that helped dreamers ignite the change in their life that they were dreaming of.

In January of 2015, my husband started that place, our church, The Meeting Place. I began to see myself leading retreats, encouraging women to live their best life and continuing my work with EST Day…the very work I saw myself on stage doing in my dreams ten years earlier.

But out of fear and a lack of faith I held onto my business, the business I adore yet the business that still didn’t feel 100% me. Well on May 15th, 2015 I realized after an awesome message from a very dear mentor of my husbands, I realized my time is done with my coaching business and I must embrace my role at The Meeting Place and serve, lead and create with my husband so that we can fully embark on this wild, challenging and blessed journey ahead of us.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t sad, but more so, I’m thrilled. You see, my husband and I work so well together and we’ve never had anything to work on fully together…and well, this is it.

What’s next?

A few things I’m certain about at this point, I’m still going to be writing and teaching from here about the things I want to share and I’m still working on End Sex Trafficking Day. I’m still going to put out Tea Talk TV episodes, because I love making them.

More will come and I know it’s going to be bigger and more amazing than I could have ever imagined. It’s never too late to fully step into your starring role as one of my mentors Tanya Geisler reminds me of.

It’s come full circle

I came home and started my business and today I feel like I’m coming home to step into what I’ve always meant to be doing. My business prepared me in so many ways for the women I will be leading at The Meeting Place.

“We <noindex></noindex> don’t have black people over to our house…we have too much expensive stuff.”

It doesn’t matter who said it, but it was said just last year in 2014 to my husband. Now I’m probably not surprising you with this, but I’m a white woman and I’m happily married to a black man…in the south.

I know as a country we’ve come a long way. And I know just a few decades ago, Fred would have been punished maybe even killed for looking at me the wrong way.

But we still have a long way to go people. Fred and I have had a lot of conversations with all different types of people and so many people can agree that our country still has a long way to go, but there’s a problem.

People don’t want to talk about it, or think about it.

They think the “black card” is being played too much. And in some instances it is. But I think my husband has it right when he declared enough is enough we all have common ground as human beings. We can take a stand and decide enough innocent killings, enough ridiculous comments — let’s stand up together and talk about what others want to ignore.

We have common ground. We have more in common than we think we do and we can’t pythagorasandthat.co.uk/buy-clomid continue to let the color of our skin stand in between us. We can’t let it stand in between the change we can make, in between the sisterhood we can experience.

We have common ground. We have love. We have the ability to take action.

After the killings, the riots, the unnecessary destruction and violence, my husband decided he wanted to stand up and do what he could to make a difference. After all, we have two beautiful bi-racial children and we would rather they not have to deal with this.

Why am I telling you this? Why am I writing about something I wouldn’t normally address?

Because we all need to take a loving look at our place in this world and realize some things are closer to our heart than others, and they demand our time and attention.

What big ideas and real change are waiting around the corner for you? When will you stand up?

It’s never too late to get started on the legacy you’ll leave with taking action on the things that matter most to you.

One of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn (and am still learning) as an entrepreneur is how important it is to recharge. I spent many months if not the first two years of my business staying up until my back was numb from working on my laptop too long and waking up early to work some more. My husband and I weren’t connecting, I was ignoring my sweet girl for my email notifications and all I was focused on was achieving. It took the birth of my son to pull away more and recharge from work and I soon realized how many women were struggling with the same thing, some even were preaching us not to do it while doing it themselves.

This has got to stop.

I don’t think I could have gotten three women more perfect than the ladies who are on the show today, as we all have been guilty of the constant work-work-work cycle.

Today I’ve got on Melissa Ramos from Sexy Food Therapy, Liz Dialto from Wild Soul Movement and Tracey Selingo from Traceyselingo.com, join us.

Now tea up + tune in and don’t forget to answer our question for you in the comments below.

Quitting what my business used to be was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Through the transition I began to talk to people who knew exactly what I was going through…and it got easier. I began to get out of my head and get unstuck – which is why the very first episode of Tea Talk TV has to do with just that.

Today I’m asking Ashely Ambirge Founder of The Middle Finger Project, Tanya Geisler, Creator of Step Into Your Starring Role and Amber McCue, CEO of Nice Ops, “How do you navigate transitions in your business while maintaining passion for what you do and patience in yourself?”

Now tea up + tune in.

And remember: Be patient with yourself because you are after all carving a path that’s a new creation.

p.s. That amazing tea from Plum Deluxe I was raving about? You can check out their tea shop here.

My husband and I got married in 2008 and shortly after that he took me to a church service where they prophesy over all of the first time visitors. This had me a bit nervous but mainly excited as it was the first time this northern girl had ever done anything like that.

It turned out that it wasn’t scary, and although it didn’t mean much at the time, (as a prophesy is saying what will happen in the future) they gave us a cassette tape with the prophesy on it to take home. Yep, you read it right — a cassette tape;)

Skip <noindex></noindex> ahead a few chapters of my life to 2014 and I found myself at a crossroads where I didn’t know what was next but I knew something had to change.

After I started End Sex Trafficking Day I fell into the business model of helping women build philanthropy into their business as I did. It was exciting, and I thoroughly enjoyed being in a niche that was all my own.

After the excitement of sold out courses, publishing my book, and getting invited to speak at events started to wear off I realized the shoe I had put on that was uniquely mine while it looked good on me, it didn’t fit right — and more importantly I didn’t feel like a million bucks wearing it. I adored my work with EST Day which was all about compassion yet somehow the drive for my coaching business began to feel like the complete opposite.

So in June of 2014, I took that “shoe off” and put my website in under construction mode until I could get a grasp on what was next. And let me tell you — this girl right here, doesn’t like to not know what’s next, so it wasn’t an easy decision.

It wasn’t easy because I felt like starting over was irresponsible of me and with all of the traction I’d made or things I had accomplished quitting would make all of that a big waste of time. I remember telling my friend and mentor Tanya Geisler these feelings and hearing her say, “Erin, you have to journey down your path and you’ll have to be brave, but you have to do it. “

She was right.

It was somewhere around then, that my husband and I found that little white cassette tape with our prophesy on it. We turned it on, laughed at the part where they described our children (as it was true to the t) and then I heard it…

“Erin, I hear God saying your name will be known for your compassion for the world.”

I dropped my head and began to cry.

I couldn’t believe I didn’t remember those words and hearing it after all of these years was like God telling me you’re headed in the right direction. A few days later, I got on my flight to speak at The Soul Gathering in the south of France and I began to see how I could combine what I adore doing with my business.

It was by no means a quick process as here we are 7 months later and I’m finally re-launching my website. So friends, I welcome you to the complete re-alignment of my work + play space online and I’m happy to give you a snapshot of what’s to come in the next few months.

My hopes for this new online space

I desire a space online where clients and friends can feel inspired and motivated to speak up, step out and take action on their big idea. A place of true connection, fear facing and saying what needs to be said so you can do what needs to be done. And tea, lots of tea.

For right now, that looks like…

Tea Talk TV – I love feeling connected, connecting others and could go on for days about the many benefits of connecting because I’ve personally experienced so much of them by starting End Sex Trafficking Day. One of my favorite benefits of connecting is insight. I’ve been able to understand my business, experiences and feelings a whole lot more from connections + conversations with other women, mom’s and business owners.

Which is how Tea Talk TV came to be. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy communicating with you via the written word, but my new favorite way to create content for you on my site is through my web based tv show Tea Talk TV. You can expect myself + three other amazing humans diving into answering one question on camera and landing in your inbox at least once a month — and the first episode will be out in days! Oh, and I LOVE Tea, hence the theme of the show;)

The Go For It Circle – A group coaching community of passionate women who are going for their big idea while staying motivated, inspired, and–most importantly–making real progress.

If you take only one thing away from this, take this –

It’s never too late for you to change your mind. Everything you’ve done up until this point, It wasn’t a waste of your time. It’s your path you’re bravely creating and although you may feel at times like you’re going nowhere it may just be because you’re creating something new.

</noindex> retiring at the age of 31.

And guess what?

I’m thrilled.

Retiring from what you ask, I can see your wheels turning in curiosity. “She’s too young to retire, you’re thinking…so what is she talking about?!”

I’m retiring from this notion that it’s not ok to evolve.

That it’s not ok to quit.

From this idea that we all must have one working title that makes us stand out so much that no one understands what we do when we tell them therefore we have to describe it so they aren’t so confused. And scariest of all, I’m retiring from work I’ve created unlike any other out there that although has had great coverage, brought amazing impact and I spent so much time creating it…it just isn’t me anymore.

It all started when Amanda Farough of Violetminded Media, asked me (in our Creative Insight Session),

“What stories do you like to hear and what stories do you like to tell?”

Before I even parted my lips to answer her question, it hit me like a crazy lady in a kick boxing class, I’m not teaching what I love to tell and hear. At least not 100%. Which is why I’ve found it hard to find things to write about. I’ve been…gasp, dare I say it?!

Uninspired.

A lightbulb clinked on, “Happy” started playing in the background of my mind and I felt a wave of creative ideas rush thesquarepdx.org/tramadol/ over me…I couldn’t wait to write them down.

And then it got scary.

I realized I would have to retire my “as mentioned on Inc.com” course, Rocket Your Revolution. My ego didn’t want to let it go.

I would have to create a new title. I would have to change this and that and that and this.

Again.

I broke down.

Complete with tears and a much needed heart to heart about it with my husband. With a comforting tone, he brilliantly put it like this…

“The more you grow, the better your work will become and the more you’ll begin to do the work you were meant to do.”

Exhale. And just like that it felt ok. Good. Great, actually. I was evolving.

And like many of us do, I turned to Facebook to vent, exhale yet again and get the thoughts of my friends. Their wise, encouraging and beautiful responses went like this:

To YOU dear friend, reading this article… welcome the fear, the worry and the shifts. It’s sign you’re moving towards your great work. Start over, make changes, welcome your evolving with open arms and most importantly don’t feel the need to apologize.

If we were taking the same road our whole lives, the ride would be incredibly boring.
