Emma was adament she never wanted to get married, but after 7 years together she changed her mind only she knew that now she was going to have to propose to Jimmy!  Emma had decided she would pop the question while travelling, on their trip to Croatia, as travelling was how they met initially. Being quite a shy person,  she didn’t have it in her to actually say the words “Jimmy will you marry me” so instead she came up with a more creative approach.  Veuve Clicquot champagne has been their special occasion drink ever since their first trip to France, so Emma decided to create her own label for the bottle. One evening on their trip when they arrived at Hvar in Croatia at a lovely romantic spot to watch the sun set, Emma pulled out the bottle (label covered with a wine cooler sleeve). Encouraging Jimmy to pull the sleeve off because this was a special bottle, confused, he did so and immediately said “fuck me” followed quickly by a “hell yes”.  Needless to say he was blown away and very happy indeed. They celebrated by parting the night away in Hvar.

Emma describes her wedding day as quite simply ‘perfect’ – the best day of her life in fact! It was a very special intimate event with only 47 guests including family and friends who made the trip from the UK and Australia.  It was simple, relaxed and natural, so much so that Emma and Jimmy were able to really enjoy all aspects of the day and just go with the flow.  Mother nature must have been celebrating with them as this was one of the worst weekends in Wellington with the ‘weather bomb’ due to hit that night! We were so lucky that they were able to still go ahead with an outdoor ceremony complete with Emma’s amazing helicopter entrance and by the time everyone was due to be seated at the reception, the bad weather was just starting to set in.  Regardless of the cold, wind and intermitant rain I never heard one complaint from these guys and they really made the most of the best that Boomrock offers.  It was great to finally see these two tie the knot and I’m honored that I was able to share their special day with them.

Crazy she definitely was, and Port Melbourne Beach which is one of her favourite places to go was the ideal location for her to run crazy, literally! There was running, splashing and rolling around in the sand and that was just me! Keeping up with with this girl and tracking her around the beach was a definite challenge, but a fun one at that. She was loving running and playing and it was so enjoyable to watch her and be able to capture her in action just being herself and having fun in the process.  One of her funny quirks is when playing with her ball she manages to kick it out the back underneath her between her legs and then proceeds to look around not knowing where it had gone.  Made us laugh every time.

Simon and Natalie got Zuri from a country breeder, they first saw her online via the trading post and compared to the other cute puppies she looked so stupid, funny and a little loopy that they just had to meet her!   They have had Zuri since she was 8 weeks old, now she is almost 2 and is the perfect cuddling companion for Simon and Natalie.   Simon says “We just love how outgoing and friendly she is” and now they have some great photographs that illustrate this.

Anita got Micah in 1998 as a puppy, they bonded right away and have been inseparable ever since!  Anita describes Micah as having been in a good mood constantly for the past 14 years.  She is such a happy,  funny, energetic and fiercely loyal dog.

Anita says: “We have lived together for nearly 14 years and we know each other pretty well.  I have never felt so close to an animal – she still welcomes me home every day like it’s the best thing that ever happened in her life and still wakes me up every morning with a thumping tail and a little dance to let me know it’s time for our walk!  She has been a wonderful companion so much so it’s hard to describe how special she is and how much she means to me.”

I’m really flattered and honored that Anita chose me to share in and capture her relationship with Micah. Being able to provide Anita and other pet owners with these emotional memories which I know will be treasured and shared forever really means so much to me.

Flynn loves to greet Sue with her slippers, carry them about the house and steal the socks.  I know all about that one Sue!  He loves the walks in the park, swimming and activities with Sue and her other dog Karla. 

Sue flew Flynn down from NSW at just 8 weeks of age. She tells me that as a puppy he was so fat he could hardly walk and had so many wrinkles he could have been mistaken for a sharpie! He has just recently turned 1 and is growing into a very confident boy, a typical lab, body growing before brain, however he is very quick to learn, so much so that Sue has trouble keeping up. 

Sue is currently training him in Obedience competitions and agility which he loves. I was surprised to see how well trained, focussed and attentive he was with Sue at our photo session especially at such a young age. This made all the difference during our shoot and made my job very easy! It’s obviously thanks to the extra time Sue has invested in him with obedience and agility training.

I must admit it was odd not having met this couple prior to the rehearsal, the day before the wedding.  With them being in Sydney and me in Melbourne all our communciation had been via email and the occasional stalking on facebook. Once I met them, however, I knew instantly that this was going to be a great wedding.  It was as if we had already known each other, we all instantly got on and I was really drawn to their casual and relaxed, happy attitudes.  On the day Delwyn gave me pre-warning that Marcus doesn’t smile for the camera however what was really lovely was that when he was with Delwyn the smiles were just so natural.  It was evident to me and everyone else attending their wedding that these two are so in love and it just goes to show that they are meant to be together. Delwyn’s 50′s styled theme suited her perfectly as she really is a classic beauty and I was very lucky to have such great settings to be able to feature her in at the Museum Hotel in Wellington prior to the wedding ceremony and Boomrock for the wedding itself.  I hope you enjoy this preview of their wedding images.
