People often assume that to have the ability to seduce, means you have to be ‘attractive’. I totally disagree and have proven on countless occasions by working with people that anyone can learn the art of seduction, it’s all about practice, patience and having the courage to try new things. The following tips will help you get started.

Practice being sexy. For the majority of the world, being sexy doesn’t come naturally. So if you are one of those ‘normal’ folk you’re going to have to practice in order to become comfortable and confident in your sexiness. Start in the comfort of your own home. It may feel a bit strange at first but look in the mirror and practice moving your body, changing your facial expressions, touching objects as though you were out and about. This will really help you see yourself as others do. Practice being sexy as much as you possible can.

Eye contact. This is so important when you’re trying to seduce someone. It’s such a subtle yet powerful way of getting someone’s attention. The best way I can describe how to look at someone when you are trying to seduce them is to look at them and imagine all the sexual things you want to do to them. Try to send over those thoughts with your mind and pretend that they can hear you. Have a subtle, inner confidence about you by cracking a cheeky grin before turning your head and walking away, leaving them wondering what just happened there.

Power dressing. Dressing the part is a proven method of boosting confidence and making people feel good. When you are trying to seduce someone there are many things you can wear (or not wear) to boost your sexual energy and confidence. Stockings and suspenders are incredibly sexy and although no one else need know that you’re wearing them, you do and it really helps! Guys could wear some silk or satin boxers. Or even just choosing clothes that emphasize your attributes will make you feel more powerful and more sexy in general.

Outlook. One of the best pieces of advice I can give you about the art of seduction is to try it without being scared of rejection.  I know it is easier said than done but the truth is we all have to deal with rejection at some point in our lives. There are billions of people in the world so it’s no wonder we’re going to have to meet a few, give it our best shot but unfortunately realise they are not right for us. If you don’t try though you’ll never know.

Everything you’ve experienced in your life has taught you something. And every time you try and ‘fail’ you’ve just made yourself that bit better from your experience. So practice your seduction techniques like there is no tomorrow, no rejection and see it as you are just gaining skills each and every time.

American reality star Shanna Moakler has teamed up with fellow former Miss USAs for a new PETA ad campaign against fur.

Beauty queens, Alyssa Alyssa Campanella (2011), Shanna Moakler (1995), Shandi Finnessey (2004) and Susie Castillo (2003) posed naked for the tasteful black and white shoot to protest against the use of fur – which is still offered as a prize at many pageants.

It’s been 18 years since Moakler found fame as Miss USA at the age of 20. By this time she was already a seasoned model. She has since enjoyed an impressive career of modelling, acting and reality gigs that included Playmate of the Month, a stint as an E! television series hostess and guest appearances in shows known to UK audiences such as Joey and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Now, at the age of 38, Moakler proves she can still hold her own against her fellow beauty queens as she stripped off for a new Peta poster.

“When it comes to the anti-fur campaign, it’s really close to my heart,” said Moakler. “I’ve been awarded fur coats and I’m hoping to stop it in our pageant community.”

According to PETA, every year ‘millions’ of animals – including foxes, minks, raccoons, and even cats and dogs – are electrocuted, drowned, beaten and often skinned alive for their fur.

“I was so disgusted that I would wear this skin of this living being on my body and consider myself beautiful,” Finnessey said. “What would happen if that happened to a human being? We would be outraged. So what’s the difference?”

Shot by photographer, Fadil Berisha, the provocative ad shows the four women standing pressed together in the nude, cupping their breasts and placing their hands on each other’s waists and hips. The tagline, “Feel beautiful in your own skin, and let animals keep theirs”, is displayed elegantly on the ad.

PETA are known for their raunchy animal rights campaigns. Last year they went so far as to launch a PETA.xxx adult domain website. The home page displayed campaign images featuring porn stars Sasha Grey and Ron Jeremy alongside tongue-in-cheek taglines. The website was downgraded shortly after the initial PR stunt launch and now serves only as a gateway to their main website.

The actor who plays popular American sitcom character, Sheldon Cooper, is to play the role of a gay activist in Glee creator, Ryan Murphy’s, HBO film The Normal Heart.

Parsons, who came out last year, will star alongside a glitzy cast that includes Julia Roberts and Mark Ruffalo in the film, which is based on the Tony-winning Larry Krammer play.

Set during the early 1980s HIV crisis in New York City, the story follows the perspective of gay man (played by Ruffalo) who witnesses the disease begin to take the lives of many in his community.

Parsons will play a gay activist, Tommy Boatwright – a part he became acquainted with previously as a Broadway actor in 2011. A New York Times journalist covering the play at the time wrote: “[The play] resonated with him on a few levels: Mr Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship.”

Production for The Normal Heart is scheduled to last over the summer, with a premiere estimated for 2014.

Is there anyone who hasn’t thought about having sex on the job? Not everyone works in an office environment, of course, so I made sure to choose some stories that featured more unusual jobs and settings. In Brighton Walsh’s Thin Ice, a journalist has an unforgettable encounter with the star ice hockey player she’s been sent to interview, while my own Stand 69 takes place at a trade fair, an environment where everyone plays just as hard as they work. But whether it’s in a stuffy office, a plush five-star hotel or even a stalled lift, the sexual chemistry in these stories is right off the charts.

The extracts I’ve chosen explore corporate affairs both in and out of an office setting. In Dominic Santi’s Corner Office, a hapless male executive is forced to watch while his deviously dominant wife seduces a young man in his own office; while in Maria Lloyd’s The Closet, an interior designer charged with remodelling the residence of a high-powered lawyer discovers the kinky secrets he keeps locked away in his bedroom, with mind-blowing results.

I spent a week of the last hour sitting in a rather dull library. I’d forgotten to take a notebook with me and my phone was on worryingly low battery power. Consequently I spent my time trying to create erotic fiction stories. This is the technique I used.

1. Visit a library. Surreptitiously watch the primmest and most proper person there. In your mind make up a lascivious backstory for them.

We’ll call this person Character A for the moment. It can be a man or a woman. To all outward appearances Character A looks like the epitome of respectability. Note the details of their conventional appearance. This will juxtapose against the salacious character that lurks beneath the surface of the fictional creation you’re going to construct.

2. Write Character A’s backstory.

3. Still at the library, find Character B – a person who would be a suitable match for Character A – and give them a backstory. This could be someone who is deliberately pursuing Character A; Character B could be someone who is fighting a repressed attraction for Character A; or Character B could be someone who is on the rebound from a spiritually unsatisfying relationship with Character C.

4. Write Character B’s backstory.

5. Take some time to look around the library. Where could Character A and Character B enjoy an intimate liaison? Are there niches that would allow the necessary blend of discretion and exposure to allow semi-public intimacy? If that’s not possible, would the library be appropriate, after hours, for a suitable, saucy setting for these characters? Would characters A and B be able to manage a quickie in the historical records? Could they run rude and rampant in the reference section? Would they want to get stiff and stuffed in the stacks? Should they get gooey with the Dewey Decimal system? And what happens when Character C interrupts their fun and asks to see something personal on the microfiche?

Please note, I’m not suggesting that every fiction writer should start to produce a book that contains characters and erotic encounters based in a library. But I am saying that, no matter what environment we face on a daily basis, we can always find some scope to eroticise the environment for our fiction.
