It's late and I should be sleeping, but I finally got around to pulling my camera out to take a few shots again. Made me realize how much I had missed it. Going to start making the time for it, since free time seems to be such a hard thing to come by these days.

I was out at the local airport to shoot a few shots of a good friend of mine. Had a lot of fun, and may upload a few of those shots as well. Here are a few of another friend behind the scenes, so to speak.

Really quite fond of both of these.

Bang Bang Club...

This post was originally supposed to be a very quick one about how I fenced this afternoon and got both a sunburn and a photo I liked.

However, the title came from a movie that I seen an advertisement for while getting ready to make this post. it is the story of war photographers, which I have considered freelancing as in the past. Very excited to see this film.

So, it turns out I am terrible at posting regularly to this blog. In my defense, I have been incredibly busy (kind of), and I have been meaning to do it. Everyone knows it's the thought that counts.

Rather enjoying my new Macbook, and if I can get more interesting things to happen in my life, I'll be more than happy to bang them out on this thing. What a treat to use.

Was finally able to get out and take a few photos and video of the flood waters going on around here. So much water everywhere. Apparently it is looking as though it will be a record flood. Seems to be happening a lot lately. Time to buy a boat?

So I finally received my passport in the mail on Monday. Have been meaning to get it for some time, but I am a procrastinator when it comes to such things. Since I don't want all of my flying to be business, I have undertaken the task of picking some place to fly for pleasure. Will update here when I get the list narrowed down and the money saved up.

Suggestions welcome.

I was browsing through old blog posts and noticed that I had deleted a lot of photos from Flickr that I had linked to. Looks terrible, so I think I will have to get a pro Flickr account in the next little while; just so I don't have to worry about removing photos to make room for new ones. When I have more time I will remove the ugly "Photo missing" links.

I just realized today how long it has been since I posted last, and thought I should update here. Haven't put up any photos lately, but I wanted to mention that I sold a couple lenses this past weekend. Got rid of my 17-40 f/4L and 70-200 f/4L. Now I am left with only prime lenses. Going to work on my sneaker zooming for a little while, and see where it takes my photography.

Will try to put up some photos soon.

In the kitchen...

Well, I have finally gotten around to buying a few things for my kitchen to make it a little more useful. Little things here and there, and it is finally adding up to be a kitchen I can actually use for more than boiling water. The price certainly adds up on all of the little things though. Nearly $200 spent, and at first glance in my kitchen, it hasn't changed. One of those slowly but surely projects, and then I will have to move on to my other, less important rooms.

Well, the bowling night planned for tonight kinda turned out to be a bit of a bust. Had fun while it lasted, and the group was good, even though it was a lot smaller than I was expecting. Drove a friend home after he had a bit too much to drink, but the rest of the group stayed out a little later. Dauphin is obviously not the most exciting city on a Friday night.

Well, I just finished watching The Social Network, and it has inspired me to start blogging a lot more. Not because of the fact that I believe it will make me incredibly wealthy and popular, but due more to the fact that I think it is a great idea to get ideas/thoughts written down. I have always had a problem expressing my emotions, and sharing anything personal with anyone. All of that is about to change. Going to try and jump right in with both feet, so we shall see how that goes. This is actually quite strange, as I am a firm believer in all things being in the open.

Pictures will still make their way on here, but now I just won't be waiting for photos to make a post. Would love to see comments on this. This blog is going to move from a photography based blog, to something a lot more personal.

Well I finally took the plunge and picked up a couple PocketWizards the other day. I already had a Cybersync setup that was wireless, and did the job well, but I thought this would be best if I ever have the opportunity to work with other photographers. These will offer me the ability to share frequencies with others, whereas my Cybersyncs would not.

I already love the look and feel of the PocketWizards, and from what I have done with them, I can already see that they are going to live up to all of the hype. Very excited to get out more and shoot with them, so get in touch and book a shoot.

Guilt has finally overcome me after putting this blog in a dark corner all summer, and I have made a return. Has been quite a summer, and I haven't been taking as many photos as I would have liked. Next to none in fact. Been in a slump, and finally feeling like it is time to drag myself out of this hole I am in.

I have already taken more shots in August than I have for the majority of the summer, so hopefully the dry spell is over.

Took in a fireworks show during the August long weekend, and thought I would share a few of the shots here with you. Look forward to more shots of whatever I come across that gets my creative juices flowing in the next little while.

5D Mark II...

It has been quite some time since I have posted, and felt it was about time I did so. As luck would have it, I have big news for just such a post.

Having just gotten rid of my Canon 5D Mark I, I was looking to upgrade. Found a great deal on a 5D Mark II and now I am eager to get my hands on my new body.

Hoping to give video a shot as well, so I will keep you updated on that end as well. Photos will be up as soon as I have the body in my hands. Very excited to see how this new body treats me.

Well I think I am a little bit late on this post, but I didn't want to post without a photo, and only had a chance to upload my photos tonight. Have been in Winnipeg since Monday morning with a couple of my brothers, and it is so nice to be home again.

Sat around the hotel room for a few days, keeping my brother company. He just finished up some laser eye surgery, and his eyes were too sensitive to be out in the sun. Took a short walk Wednesday morning and came away with one photo I liked, so it wasn't a complete loss.

Hoping the weather warms up a bit soon, as I would like to be out taking more photos... but I detest the cold weather. I am possibly the worst Canadian ever. Still trying to find a sporting event to get to for a few photos. Perhaps my next post will have something to share.

Well the weather has turned very ugly around here as of late. Plenty of snow and wind have been making taking photos outdoors a challenge. Still made it out for a few though. Can have a look at these until the weather clears up a bit.

Dinner for two...

I finally got around to buying a few things for my apartment, and thought the kitchen would come first. Picked up the essentials and slowly starting to make my place look a little more lived in. Picked up dinnerware and cutlery as well as a few odds and ends which will allow me to actually make some meals at home.

So I spent the day in Winnipeg, MB on Tuesday this week, and had a great time. Did a lot of walking around the downtown area, but it was mainly indoors. It seems I am going to have to keep myself on the street and taking photos more often. Just didn't seem to have the nerve to put my camera in anyone's face on that day, and I'm not a big fan of street photography from a distance, or that doesn't connect the viewer with the subject at all. Living in a small town is going to make it hard to work on that. We will see what comes of it.

Here is the only photo from the day I actually cared for at all.

Now I am on the lookout for some sporting events nearby to take some shots at. Need a few sports action shots for my course project, so keep an eye out for those.

New Cut

Well there isn't a whole lot new to report. Has been staying rather cold for the last while, so I haven't been out taking photos. What I have been doing is cutting my hair. Thought it was time for a bit of a change, so I took a little off the top.

Here is a photo of how it turned out. I rather like it.

Looks as though I will be going to Winnipeg, MB in a couple days. Expect to see some photos from around the city if the nice weather, that has finally come, holds out.

So I got a lot busier than I expected since my last post, and didn't get around to the update before the end of the year. Still going to stick to my minimum of one update a week though. Hope everyone had a great (and safe) holiday season, and aside from the cold snap around here once again... it looks as though the year is off to a good start.

Really have to get started on my assignment for the photo course in which I am enrolled, and hopefully I can have that finished up by summer. Will start on the photo assignment next week, and begin posting photos here to get your opinions on. In the meantime, I have a couple photos for your viewing pleasure.

First shot is an edit of my last update, and I thought it added a 'nice' dark look to the photo.

This is a photo I just shot tonight. Minimal editing, and I rather like how it turned out. This is my computer chair; where I spend countless hours doing what have you. Enjoy.

Still on the look out for a ticket to the sold out Sierra Noble concert in Dauphin, MB on Jan. 22nd. Hopefully I get lucky and am able to get photos to post here.

The answer is no.

I'm sure anyone who reads this blog was wondering if I had completely abandoned it. Thought I would be updating this a lot more given the fact that I have the ability to upload more photos faster. Actually got around to taking a few photos today, so I thought it was time to get back to this. Have already decided that my new year's resolution will be to update this blog at least once a week. Hold me to that. haha

Anyhow, as I mentioned... took some photos today. The unfortunate part is that they are of me, so you will have to bear with me. ;) Hopefully soon I can get things set up in my apartment to allow people to come in and perhaps I can get some variety in my shots.

Moving on up...

Once again, I have been too busy to post anything here. Not really... but busy sounds better than lazy. Have so much news I have to catch up on now.

Since my last post I have been for a few great nature walks, and came away with some great photos. Had a lot of fun despite the weather cooling off a great deal in the last few weeks. Probably won't be doing a lot of these walks during the winter, but am looking forward to trying a lot more of them come next spring. Here are a few shots from the walks:

Also worth noting is the lens I recently bought, as well as the darkroom setup I purchased. Have made a few prints from some old negatives lying around to give it a test. Absolutely love it, but can't see myself having much time for it. Will do some work with my old Yashica medium format for something on the side. Very curious to see the quality.

Speaking of quality, the lens I most recently bought is absolutely amazing. The Canon 135mm f/2L is every bit as wonderful as anything you have ever read about it. As of yet, I have not taken any serious shots with it; but rest assured knowing that they will be here as soon as I do.

Finally, I am moving in to my own place come Nov. 1st. Will be nice to have all the space I need to get some shots taken care of indoors. Call it a tiny little studio if you like. haha. If that weren't enough, I will also have high speed... so you can expect more frequent photo uploads.

With all of this exciting news, I hope to be updating more. We will see how that works out. Stay tuned...

Easy come, easy go...

Remember when I said that I would try and update more often? Well I am a liar.

Have been so many things happening that have been worth putting up here, but that is half the problem. I have been far too busy doing those things to find time for this. My new Crackberry is keeping me abreast of all the online happenings, but I still haven't felt the desire to post a blog update on it.

I am pressed for time even now, but felt I should post a quick update. Bought a car, so now I won't have any issues getting to and returning from shoots. Definitely enjoying it. Below is a photo I shot while in Brandon, MB.

Also, I have just sold my old motorcycle and put a portion of the money toward a set of Kenko extension tubes. Look forward to some macro work being posted as soon as the set arrives in the mail. Considering lighting equipment, but as of yet, I am undecided on more Alienbees and a Vagabond II portable power unit... or getting some speedlight type flashes for even greater portability.

So I have a lot of catching up to do on writing here, as always. Oh, and yes, that is the basis of my post title. I knew you would love it.

Anyhow, so much has been going on and I just haven't had time to write anything down here. Just got a Blackberry, so I have been spending more time on the net with it than this computer. Unfortunately, I can't be bothered to type a blog entry on a Blackberry. haha

Have been getting very interested in off camera lighting as of late, and hoping to do a lot more work with it as I find the time. Still looking at making a Vagabond II portable power system my next purchase. At the moment I only have one Alienbee 800 studio strobe, so I would like the ability to shoot outside with it.

It looks as though this is all I will be able to write before I have to leave for work, so perhaps I will post again tonight with even more info.
