Exercises in Style

This is my idea of beach-wear. Heat, salt, sand..I must be 100% comfy, no accessories. So my favourite look is an easy and fresh tunic, often a big straw hat, always sunglasses and the only plus is a nice string belt with a brooch that I easily tie up with a simple and fast knot.

Tra qualche giorno finalmente sarò a tutti gli effetti in vacanza! Quest’ultima settimana ho avuto così tante cose da fare e da finire che il tempo è volato!

Questa è la mia idea di beach-wear. Il caldo, il sale, la sabbia..in spiaggia proprio non riesco ad indossare accessori. Quindi per essere comoda al 100% preferisco qualcosa tipo una leggera e fresca tunica, spesso il cappello di paglia, sempre gli occhiali da sole e l’unico “extra” una cinta con una bella spilla gioiello che lego facilmente con un semplice e veloce nodo.

Soon I will finally be on holidays, and obviously, for a bit, I will update this space of mine less often. I’m really looking forward to these vacations!

Anyways, here is my favourite jumpsuit, bought on sale a few weeks ago. I love this one for the very well done floral pattern and above all because instead of the ordinary tank top, has a very nice blouse made like a sleeveless shirt with a nice ruffle flounces neckline, which gives to this jumpsuit a fine touch!

Fra poco andrò finalmente in vacanza, quindi aggiornerò questo mio spazio più saltuariamente. Non vedo l’ora di partire!

Comunque, ecco la mia “tuta” preferita, l’ho comprata qualche settimana fa con i saldi. Mi piace molto perché la fantasia floreale è fatta molto bene e soprattutto mi piace perché invece del solito top tipo canottiera è fatta come una blusa, come una camicia senza maniche con un scollo lavorato, il che da un tocco in più ad un capo facile e comodo come la “tuta”.

Black Belt…DIY

I like to improvise! Usually I don’t wear black in summer, as I already wrote I really have few black things in my summer wardrobe. But… since black is timeless no matter the season and since this place of mine is for “exercises in style” I bought these shorts on sale and here is the way I arranged this unusual (in summer) colour for me.

For these shorts I wanted a black high waisted belt that I didn’t have. So I improvise easily using strecht fabric (about 5$) and a brooch! I placed the middle of the fabric on front, turned the ends around my waist, making a knot, in front, settled by a golden brooch. And black accessories!

Mi Piace improvvisare! Solitamente non indosso il nero in estate, come ho scritto altre volte ho veramente poche cose nere nel mio armadio estivo. Ma…siccome il nero è senza tempo a prescindere dalla stagione e siccome questo mio spazio è per “esercizi di stile”, ho comprato questi pantaloni corti in saldo ed ecco come ho pensato di indossare questo colore insolito per la mia estate!

Per questi pantaloni corti volevo una cinta nera a vita alta che non avevo. Quindi mi sono arrangiata facilmente comprando un tessuto strecht (lycra circa 4 euro) e utilizzando una mia spilla. Posizionando la parte centrale del tessuto davanti ho girato le estremità intorno alla vita facendo un nodo di nuovo davanti e fissandolo con una bella spilla dorata. Più accessori neri!

This dress looks delicate and fresh thanks to the neutral shade of sequins and the fine tunic shape.

Summer Colours

There are some colours that “speak about summer”. One of this colour is blue.

This shade of blue rather suggests idea of freshness, which is awesome during these unbelievable warm days.

This blue also reminds me about sky and sea and, in short, reminds me about the so wished holidays, which is also awesome in these last working days!

Alcuni colori hanno un “sapore” estivo. Uno di questi colori è il blu elettrico.

Questa tonalità di blu suggerisce freschezza, il che è ottimo in questi giorni di incredibile caldo.

Il blu elettrico ricorda anche il blu del cielo e del mare, in sostanza mi fa pensare alle tanto desiderate vacanze, ed anche questo è ottimo in questi ultimi giorni di lavoro!

Spoilt for Choice

I really like long dresses, are comfy and they can be so romantic! Thanks to fashion trends, at last, for this summer I’ve been spoilt for choice. I’ve seen a few nice by Zara and Mango. In the end I bought on sale the Zara’s!

Usually wearing long dresses I like to play with accessories, but for this one I’d rather keep the look easy and clean. The sleeves and especially the back are so particular that this dress is just fine on its own. I wore a belt and a few fairly bangles just to give a touch of colour!

Mi piacciono molto i vestiti lunghi, li trovo comodi e possono regalare un aria un po’ romantica. Siccome sono un must di stagione, finalmente, ho l’imbarazzo della scelta. Ne avevo visto qualcuno carino da Zara e da Mango. Alla fine ne ho preso uno molto bello di Zara in saldo!

In genere mi piace giocare con gli accessori quando metto un vestito lungo, ma per questo ho preferito tenere un look leggero. Le maniche e soprattutto la schiena sono particolari e bastano a valorizzare l’abito. Ho indossato solo una cinta e qualche discreto braccialetto giusto per dare un tocco di colore.

For Summer Saturday Nights…DIY!

I love draperies, can be so timeless and femminine! For this summer fashion has show off plenty of dresses and skirts and whatever embellished by draperies. The great things is that draperies are easy to do!

For this top:

Place the fabric on your shoulder leaving an end (enough to make after a knot on the opposite hip) dangling on the back. Turn the other end around the waist one time and tide it up on the hip with the dangling end on the back !

Adoro i drappeggi, possono creare look delicati e femminili! Per quest’estate la moda ha proposto molti vestiti, gonne e qualsivoglia capo abbellito da drappeggi. La cosa buona è che i drappeggi sono facili da creare!

Per questo top:

Basta posare il tessuto su una spalla, lasciando pendere un’estremità dietro la schiena (sufficiente per fare dopo un nodo sul fianco opposto) e girare l’altra estremità intorno alla vita una volta per poi annodarla su un fianco con l’estremità pendente dietro la schiena!

It’s a well known fact that is not easy to strike a balance between style and comfort while travelling!

Actress Marion Cotillard flew in from France wearing an elegant and minimal jacket, which matched to a vivacious flounces skirt and to an easy top gives a nice shabby chic effect.

Blu together with grey, colours quite beloved by Chanel, are an awesome chromatic choice!

The mascouline hat gives a fine verve to the whole look!

Never say Never

A simple truth. Who has never gone behind at least once in his life?

Philosophy aside! Speaking about slight things..

Usually I’m not inspired by cloths with skulls, also if I saw very nice outfits with skulls&co. I just always tought I would not buy any for me, untill I met this T’s, my last purchase a few days ago! So Never say Never.

This is what I was wearing saturday night for a concert!

Una semplice verità. Chi non è mai tornato sui propri passi almeno una volta?

Filosofia a parte! per ciò che riguarda ripensamenti più frivoli..

In genere non sono particolarmente ispirata da teschi&co. Anche se ho visto molti bei outfits sul genere ho sempre pensato che non facessero per me, finché non ho “incontrato” questa tshirt, il mio ultimo acquisto qualche giorno fa! Mai dire Mai.

Questo è ciò che indossavo per Ligabue in concerto sabato sera!

This was Not a Dress

I guess by now is obvious that I like to restyle everything that inspires me! I think is fun and basically in this way you might find out that you have more dresses, pants and cloths then you can even immagine!

And besides all these reasons fashion isn’t about new ideas? and new ways to match what one already has? So..let’s go ahead..

I love empire line dress, they are very feminine and in my opinion also comfy. So all you need is a skirt (long or short as you want the dress to be long or short!!), a scarf as a top and a belt to set the two!

Decisamente mi piace riadattare abiti, pantaloni, e qualunque cosa si presti! Può essere divertente e potresti scoprire di avere molti più vestiti e pantaloni di quanto tu possa immaginare!

Oltre a tutto questo in fondo la moda non è sperimentazione? Nuove idee? Nuovi abbinamenti? E quindi..

Adoro gli abiti stile impero, sono femminili ed a mio parere anche molto comodi. Tutto quello che serve è una gonna (della lunghezza di cui si vuole il vestito!), un foulard come top ed una cinta per fissare i due!

Belated Sales for me

I have to admit that the first day of sales I’d rather go to the seaside for the weekend, than go shopping ! However it has not been a pity, because I went this saturday and found very nice stuff. The pity is that every time I go for sales I end up with buyng also something not on sale! This time I bought this lace gilet, “it has been love at first sight”! Definitely such a gilet dresses you up, no matter what easything you are wearing gives an extra touch to every simple outfit.

So helpful when you are in a hurry and don’t know what to wear!

Devo ammettere che il primo giorno di saldi ho preferito andare al mare per il week end piuttosto che rimanere a fare shopping! Ma non è stato un peccato, perché sono andata questo sabato ed ho trovato comunque cose molto carine. Il vero peccato è che ogni volta che vado per saldi finisco per comprare anche qualcosa che non lo è! Questa volta è stato un gilet ricamato, è stato “amore a prima vista”! Decisamente un simile gilet ti veste, nel senso più completo del termine. Qualunque semplice cosa si indossi questo gilet lo completa, il tocco finale!

Un atout molto utile quando si è di fretta e non si sa cosa mettere!

To dress with style means also to be capable of appreciating the beautiful things that fashion has created, over each historical age!

Olivia Palermo attended to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 wearing a fresh and feminine mix that remembers styles of different ages.

The soft white blouse embroidered with stones on the neckline remembers the ancient greek peplos, whereas the delightful fringes skirt, charleston style, gives vivacity to the look. The silver flat shoes are the contemporary touch.

For such a mix of style the perfect accessory can’t be nothing else than a timeless bag as the Birkin of Hermes !

Love at first Sight

A good rule for purchases, at least has always worked out for me, is to believe in “love at first sight”. But has to be true love, not just a crush! Usually I had no regrets

A bit of Past

Style is Timeless. I’m not talking just about fashion, but I’m generally speaking about design, architecture, and whatever has been drawn by creativity. Certain things were beautiful then, as they are nowdays.

I believe, concerning fashion, that there are things which are one of a kind no matter the up-to-date fashion must!

So here a few things from past that I like very much or to which I’m very attached…

Lo stile è senza tempo. Non mi riferisco solo alla moda, ma in generale al design, all’architettura, a tutto ciò che è frutto della creatività. Alcune cose erano belle allora come lo sono adesso.

Quindi anche per quanto riguarda la moda molte cose rimangono uniche ed intramontabili a prescindere dai trend di stagione.

Ecco alcune cose dal passato che mi piacciono molto o alle quali sono molto affezionata.

Chic Shorts & Shirt

Shorts are an easy cloth that usually I wear when I want to be comfortable, when I’m in a hurry or I just feel lazy! For that reason I usually end up matching them with simple tank tops or t-shirts. But actually would be as easy to be chic just wearing something as nice and simple as a shirt, in this case a soft silk shirt, also in a lazy day!
In genere indosso un easy-wear come i pantaloni corti quando voglio stare comoda, sono di fretta oppure sono solo un po’ pigra! Quindi finisco spesso per abbinarli a semplici canottiere o magliette. Eppure sarebbero comunque easy, ma un po’ più chic indossando per esempio un’altrettanto semplice camicia, in questo caso una in seta, anche nei giorni più pigri!

Chocolate Lava Cake – Tortino al Cuore Caldo di Cioccolato

Since I’m also a chocolate lover…I want to share one of my favourite recipes, easy and fast!
Siccome sono anche un amante del cioccolato..ecco una delle mie ricette preferite, facile e veloce!

6 people
120 gr icing sugar (not vanilla flavoured)
120 gr butter
150 gr dark chocolate
3 eggs
30 gr flour
Melt chocolate with a double boiler, adding icing sugar and butter. After everything has melted take the bowl off the fire and wait for it to get lukewarm.
Add 3 eggs to the mixture mixing with a whisk by hand.
Now add flour always mixing with a whisk.
Grease well the mouldes with butter, then pour the mixture in muffin baking pan
Put away the baking moulds in the freezer.
After at least 24 hours the chocolate cupcakes are ready to be cooked.
Do not thaw out/unfreeze: pull out the cupcakes from freezer and immediately bake them in preheat oven for 17-20 minutes at 240°-250°C in the lowest area of the oven (basically after a few minutes you will see a little hole on top of the cupcakes, and they will be ready when that little hole has almost disappeared)

120 gr zucchero a velo non vanigliato
120 gr burro
150 gr cioccolato fondente
3 uova
30 gr farina
Sciogliere a bagno maria zucchero a velo, burro e cioccolato. Togliere dal fuoco e stiepidire.
Aggiungere 3 uova lavorandole con la frusta a mano. Aggiungete la farina sempre lavorandola con la frusta. Versate il composto negli stampi ben imburrati.
Mettete nel freezer per almeno 24 ore. Per cuocere non scongelate il composto: tirate fuori gli stampi dal freezer e cuocete subito nel forno preriscaldato nel piano più basso per 17-20 minuti a 240°-250° C. (fondamentalmente è pronto quando la fossetta che si crea nei primi minuti della cottura in cima al tortino è quasi scomparsa)

I like to mix different kind of cloths. I think that matching different styles helps to ward off ordinary outfits, to avoid matching always the same things without renewing wardrobe!
For this post I have matched Romantic&Military Style.
The soft white top, the fine floral necklace and the white silk shoes with ribbons VS military boyfit green pants, with pockets and patches on the knees.
Mi piace mixare differenti generi. Credo che abbinare stili diversi aiuti ad evitare mise sempre uguali senza rinnovare continuamente il guardaroba!
In questo caso ho scelto di abbinare uno stile Romantico&Militare.
Il morbido top bianco, il delicato collier floreale e le scarpe bianche in seta con fiocchi VS pantaloni verde militare taglio uomo, con tasche e toppe sulle ginocchia.

My Exception to the Rule

One of my basic rule is to not “overaccessorize” outfits, but every good rule has its own fair exceptions.
This long dress inspired me to be one of those exceptions.
So I had fun exaggerating with a bunch of different kind of bracelets and a wide necklace. Everything is bright in order to light up such a simple and plein neutral coloured long dress. But to balance such accessories I have chosen to comb my hair very simply and to wear very easy flat sandals.
Una delle mie regole base è quella di non indossare troppi accessori, ma ogni buona regola ha le sue eccezioni.
E questo outfit è una di quelle.
Ho scelto un’ampia collana ed ho voluto esagerare con molti bracciali diversi tra di loro. Per illuminare un vestito dalle linee molto semplici e dal colore neutro ho scelto accessori molti luminosi. Per bilanciare qualche eccesso.. una semplice coda di cavallo e dei comodi infradito!

Actress Cameron Diaz has chosen a fresh and youthful look to promote her last film “Knight&Day” during the Good Morning Studios show.
The “esemble” looks absolutely casual thanks to the match, elagant baby blu blazer and simple white tank.
Very cute and youthful the silk bubble shorts by Elizabeth and James, easy chic the necklace and the clear plastic bangle.
Last but not least look is greatly accomplished by engaging Chloé wedges!

Oversize Pants…suit!

Since style is not always made out of fashion cloths or new accessories, for this post I’m wearing oversize outdated pants and vintage accessories. I just fixed the waist of the pants with a belt, leaving a few inches of fabric sticking out from the waistline.
Now pants are somehow vintage looking and for that reason I’ve chosen some of my favourite oldstyle accessories!
Poiché lo stile non è sempre sinonimo di capi fashion o nuovi accessori, per questo post indosso pantaloni vecchio stile oversize ed accessori vintage. Ho solo sistemato la vita con una cinta, lasciando sporgere qualche centimetro di stoffa oltre la cinta.

The power of Colours. Without dubt colors are able to make my mood better!
A few days ago I was tyding up my closet and I realized that actually my summer wardrobe has almost anything black. Just a tank top, a long skirt, and a little black dress, which is one of my unfailing pieces for a perfect wardrobe! (my perfect wardrobe).
So to be consistent I’m wearing a very colorful outfit!
Il potere dei colori. Senza dubbio i colori hanno il potere di migliorare il mio umore!
Qualche giorno fa sistemavo il mio armadio e mi sono resa conto che tra il mio guardaroba estivo non c’è quasi nulla di nero, solo una canottiera, una gonna lunga ed un tubino, che è uno dei capi immancabili nel mio guardaroba! (il mio guardaroba perfetto )
