ArcGIS 10 is a system that can be used anytime anywhere – on desktop in the office, or anywhere in the field or through the cloud. The demo shows productivity enhancements in ArcGIS for Desktop such as direct access to ArcCatalog from within ArcMap, easier searching for content, and a new parcel toolar. Field staff can access a new Mobile Project Center that lets them download maps created in ArcGIS for Desktop, and web editing tools are now more intuitive and easy to use.

Bob Pool, GIS Manager at Clark County, Washington, shows how he automates a developer packet template using the new map scripting environment. Esri’s map scripting environment is incorporated with Python script so that developers can write and develop code and immediately see the results.

Imagery is an important component of ArcGIS 10. With the ArcGIS for Server Image extension, massive volumes of imagery files, such as satellite and aerial data, can now be accessed very fast. The demo shows how a seamless mosaic is rendered dynamically on the fly. Multiple sources a brought together and interpreted at the same time. Users can also now see changes over time by merging information from different timelines.

Demo shows how ArcGIS Network Analyst is used to solve a location-allocation problem for a city’s health care service. The goal is to limit patient’s travel time to 6 minutes and determine the impact of the addition of new clinic locations. Also see how new ArcLogistics Online is used to create optimal routes for a fleet of vans, and how ArcLogistics Navigator provides drivers with in-vehicle route directions.

Geared toward new and potential new users, this session provides a comprehensive overview of the ArcGIS 3D Analyst extension. Techniques for visualizing GIS data in three dimensions with the ArcGlobe and ArcScene applications, demonstrations of the geoprocessing analysis functions, as well as data types relevant to 3D modeling, the use of aerial imagery in conjunction with surfaces to enhance 3D models, 3D editing, 3D animation, and conveying realism using 3D symbology will all be discussed.

We will discuss the ArcGIS product types and their installation and configuration options including silent installations and required machine and user permissions. We will also cover administration tools and touch on licensing concepts for the various ArcGIS products.

A vast amount of spatial data exists in non-spatial databases in the form of addresses, often in local languages. Geocoding is the process of creating spatial locations from these addresses. This session will introduce the basic geocoding functionality in ArcGIS and help you with a quick-start experience in learning the basic techniques for creating address locators and geocoding with ArcGIS 10.

This session will take an in-depth look at ModelBuilder and its more advanced features such as setting model properties, working with environment variables, establishing preconditions, validating and repairing models, iteration and working with lists and series.

Network Analyst is often used to route vehicles or fleets of vehicles, generate service areas, and perform site-selection analysis. This session provides an overview of the functionality, techniques, and tips for visualization, query, and analysis of temporal data in ArcGIS. It includes an overview of considerations and best practices for the conversion, loading, and storage of spatiotemporal data. We will explain and demonstrate core support for time in ArcGIS 10, andcover visualizing real-time data with the Tracking Analyst extension. Examples of concepts and tools to solve some real-world problems will also be given.

The ArcGIS geodatabase is an object-oriented geographic data model that uses the relational data storage techniques of modern DBMS technologies. This session will discuss key elements of the geodatabase model including object classes, feature classes, subtypes, relationship classes, geometric networks, and topologies. This session will also present overviews of the database design and editing process, touching on the use of the long transaction model in a versioned environment.
