Taking the company Eden Springs research how different people contribu...

A team can be classified as a group of individual people with varying hierarchal roles, attitudes, relationships and behaviours who work together to reach a goal or objective, the objective can be common, competitive or individualistic depending on the nature of the team and the context within which the structure is set [1]. The individual differences one finds in people can be the fundamental driver for success within a team as it is suggested it becomes increasingly possible to succeed when there is a multitude of skill sets covered within the areas of expertise the individual’s offer, however this can fluctuate depending on the aim of the group [2]. For the purpose of this evaluation the objective will be assumed to be a common goal as the group will be the employee base of Eden Springs whose primary objective will be to increase profitability for the business. With no actual data on the structure and workings of this company the assertions and recommendations made will all be unfounded assumptions.

Socially engaged Buddhism. From the time of the Buddha Sakyamuni hims...

Discuss a modern movement of socially engaged Buddhism. The emergence of socially engaged Buddhism has shifted the fundamental assumptions of Buddhism away from focussing on the inner world of meditation and ritual into the outer world of ideology, politics and society. What underlies this shift into engagement is the idea that all events are interconnected, and that the role of Buddhism is to reduce the suffering of others as well as oneself. The following essay will discuss how the teachings of Nhat Hanh have been incorporated into American society and created a form of socially engaged Buddhism with distinct characteristics, sensibilities and attributes.

You are a mental health nursing student and you are required to choose...

Discuss the service user experience (learning disability) of care from a holistic perspective and consider how this knowledge can be applied to your own branch of nursing (mental health). Introduction Mental health nursing is a fundamental component of the full spectrum of healthcare provision for communities and populations that are being increasingly being recognised as growing in complexity and diversity (Barker and Jackson, 1997). Mental health challenges and mental illness can affect people from every sector of society, which requires a comprehensive, holistic and individualised approach to mental health care provision (DoH, 1999), but also requires mental health nurses to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary for them to meet complex health needs. A service user focus to mental health nursing practice therefore requires mental health nurses to address specific needs.

The views of Bulgarian migrants and their integration experiences in C...

This work presents the results of a survey of Bulgarian migrants living in Coventry and their immigration experiences, in terms of the lessons that can be learnt for future social care policy. The survey, conducted via interviews with five Bulgarian immigrants, was aimed at exploring their attitudes to various experiences. In addition to the survey, a Literature Review is presented which discusses the academic work undertaken on this subject, highlighting important and relevant points from this research. The work concludes with a section highlighting the social work implications of these findings and the implications of these findings for future social care policy with regards to immigrants.

It is anticipated that the subject material will stimulate discussion on current social and contemporary issues in England, such as the recession and how people use their leisure time. The language used is simple enabling the text to be studied at a number of different levels. Pre-intermediate students will be able to utilize the text as an introduction to basic writing and speaking activities, while intermediate and upper-intermediate groups could study the language in greater detail and work with more complicated types of activity.

The role of the first language and universal grammar in second languag...

The notion of universal grammar is the premise that there is a primary biological basis at the heart of first language acquisition. Noam Chomsky put forward this idea that there is a universal grammar common to all languages of the word, where every speaker has innate knowledge of the grammatical structure that makes up their language. This innate knowledge means that there is ‘an abstract and unconscious linguistic system’ in place from birth, including the means for ‘comprehension and production’ in language speakers. (White, 2003, p. 1) This essay examines how far universal grammar, and the grammar of a speaker’s native language affects second language acquisition.

Formative assessment 1: The Purity Commandment, E.U Law

Introduction I will argue that in both 1990 and 2008, the purity commandment would fall to be considered under the Cassis de Dijon “rule of reason,” the ruling of Keck notwithstanding. In both periods, the case law suggests that the commandment would not satisfy any of the mandatory requirements, which temper the harshness of Article 28 EC.

Report - Is military intervention ever justified and if so how?

The question of whether military intervention is ever justified is one of the most important and fundamental questions that philosophers and scholars have had to attempt to answer. In this investigation we will examine whether military intervention can ever be justified and we will answer this question in three distinct sections. In the first section we will focus upon just war theory and analyse how military intervention can be justified according to this theory. Here we will examine both of the fundamental tenets of just war theory, Jus ad bellum and Jus in bello. In the second section we will examine the argument that humanitarian intervention is justified and in the third and final section we will offer examples of recent humanitarian interventions to illustrate the argument. We will conclude that it is possible to justify military intervention, but only if a certain number of strict and inviolable conditions are met.

The legislation on unfair dismissal is contained in the Employment Rights Act 1996 (‘the ERA‘) and states that an employee has the right not to be unfairly dismissed by his employer. Section 98 ERA details the circumstances in which the dismissal of an employee will be deemed to be unfair taking into account the reason, or if more than one reason, the principal reason, for the dismissal and states that unless it falls within one of six fair reasons the dismissal will be deemed to be unfair.

Social work in diverse settings

This essay selects and critically analyses the factors that influence effective working with regard to one particular aspect of practice within a residential childcare setting, paying particular attention to Scottish law. The aspect of practice to be considered is that of ensuring that young people’s experience of residential childcare is positive. The analysis presented in the essay demonstrates an understanding of the client group, an understanding of how practice is supported by research, an understanding of the appropriate approaches for evaluating outcomes and an understanding of the impact of anti-discriminatory practice. In addition, the essay demonstrates an understanding of the nature of social work delivery in one setting (the residential child care setting); demonstrates an understanding of the needs of a particular client group in relation to their environment; critically analyzes the effectiveness of practice within the chosen setting and the extent to which it is supported by research evidence; demonstrates an understanding of the range and significance of approaches for evaluating outcomes; and explores the extent to which anti-discriminatory and anti-racist practice contributes to the formation of the relationships between the client and worker within the chosen setting.

Great Peace Shipping Ltd v. Tsavliris Salvage (International) Ltd [200...

In 1999 the Cape Providence was sailing from Brazil to China when it was damaged and Tsavliris Salvage arranged for a tug. The problem was it was going to take about a week to arrive so Tsavliris’ brokers chartered the nearest ship - the Great Peace - until the tug arrived but, unfortunately, the Great Peace’s starting position was wrong. Therefore, when it became known, Tsavliris told the brokers they wanted to cancel the charter if they found a nearer vessel - the Nordfarer - that Tsavliris contracted with and instructed the brokers to cancel the Great Peace agreement. Accordingly, Great Peace Shipping Ltd claimed for $82,500 and the case concerned whether there was a ‘common’ or ‘mutual’ mistake of fact and whether the contract was (a) void in law for fundamental mistake or (b) voidable in equity for mistake, entitling Tsavliris to rescind.

Wrongful Dismissal: an overview of the nature of the claim and a consi...

For most non-lawyers the concept of the distinction between types of dismissal and the importance of these concepts in respect of the remedies available is an area which is sufficiently esoteric as to be given little real consideration. However the differences are important and with a proposed increase in the continuous employment requirement, from one to two years, before a claim in unfair dismissal can be available, knowledge and understanding of the principles underpinning wrongful dismissal are something of which all employees should be aware. Recent moves in this area which will be considered below appear to have widened the net in relation to the level of damages award which the court can make when wrongful dismissal is made out, however before these can be considered and understood a broad outline of this type of claim must be made.
