St. Francis School will hold its annual fundraiser Saturday, February 26th at 6:30 p.m. downtown at The Henry Clay. The “Our Good Earth” Eagle Gala will benefit the children of St. Francis School and Preschool.

Bouquets and Arrangements for World Cup Finalists

Our sister company, Betsye’s Blooms, provided bouquets for the winners of World Cup Saddle Seat Equitation Finals and table arrangements for the dinner.

The 2010 Kentucky Fall Classic Horse Show was held October 5-8 at the Shelby County Fair Grounds in Shelbyville, Kentucky. The Fall Classic hosted the World Cup Saddle Seat Equitation Finals as well as the Bluegrass Futurity and the finals for Equine Services Roadster Cup Final for horses and ponies.

“Secretariat” advance screening set for Oct. 3

Essential Details is excited to be working with The Walt Disney Studios on the special advance screening of the new film, Secretariat, Oct. 3, five days before the film’s Oct. 8 release date. The screening will be held at Lexington’s Kentucky Theatre, with a cocktail reception following at Portofino Restaurant. Sheryl Thompson, senior event coordinator, is working directly with the Disney team to provide decor, centerpieces, and management services for the event, which will benefit the Secretariat Foundation.

“Secretariat’s victories have stirred people’s emotions for decades, but with this film, we’ve been swept up again with the incredible story of this horse and its owner, Penny Chenery,” said Rich Ross, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios. “In reliving Secretariat’s extraordinary achievements, we can all appreciate Penny’s passion and determination, and the need to support her efforts on behalf of the Secretariat Foundation.”

“It gives me great pleasure that the advance screening of Secretariat in Kentucky will help benefit the Secretariat Foundation,” said Chenery. “Though I now reside in Colorado, Kentucky is still ‘home’ to me. I am just delighted that the many friends and fans there can enjoy this wonderful film while directly supporting the industry-related causes dearest to me.”

The film, shot on location in Kentucky and Louisiana, captures a host of fan favorite locales, including Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear and First Lady Jane Beshear will attend special advance screening.

Tickets, starting at $125 per person, include general admission to the screening and cocktail reception. The $250 per person ticket also includes reserved seating at the screening and reception. Tickets went on sale Wednesday, Sept. 22, and are available at secretariat.com or by calling 502-893-7997.

About the Movie

Based on the remarkable true story, Secretariat chronicles the spectacular journey of the 1973 Triple Crown winner. Housewife and mother Penny Chenery (Diane Lane) agrees to take over her ailing father’s Virginia-based Meadow Stables, despite her lack of horse-racing knowledge. Against all odds, Chenery – with the help of veteran trainer Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich) – manages to navigate the male-dominated business, ultimately fostering the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years and what may be the greatest racehorse of all time. Custom gift for Chambord launch

We love a challenge. Brown-Forman wanted very unique gifts for one of their Chambord Flavored Vodka launch events. Companies don’t launch new products very often so we knew this had to be a special gift.

We knew the perfect fit for this project — Flame Run Glass Studio and Gallery. If you’ve never visited it’s worth the trip. There’s a gallery with exhibits scheduled through the end of the year and a hot shop where you can see the artists work their magic.

We shot some video of the artist making the gift. It’s truly amazing to watch them work. Enjoy.

It may be summer break, but I don’t think the word break exists in an Event Coordinator’s dictionary. While planning an event, even when you aren’t at work, your brain is constantly on overdrive and ideas will pop in your head anytime of the day. Sometimes I wish you could manually flip a switch to turn your brain off so you can go to sleep at night. In my eyes, this is what makes a great Event Coordinator. The constant ideas flowing and never ending creativity is what makes each event so unique and fabulous.

Many events have occurred since I started here at Essential Details. Many of these events were in June so naturally I thought July would be a little slower. Boy was I wrong. Even though I haven’t been on site working on setting up events and meeting with clients, there have been a countless number of proposals and PowerPoint presentations to work on. E-mails have been flowing in requesting proposals and I have had the privilege to help work on these. I love being able to use my creative side to think of unique ways to make each event exactly what the client envisioned. It is a fun challenge to take the information the client e-mails, and produce a presentation with the client in mind hoping they will love the end result.

The official work day may be 9 to 5, but I have found that your best ideas come when you are laying by the pool, cooking dinner, spending time with family and friends or even while you are sleeping. There is nothing that can keep an Event Coordinator from doing what they do best and that is constantly using their creative mind to make everything they do and everything they plan the best and most unique experience possible. This type of mind frequently comes in handy when your friends ask you to plan their birthday party or you are brainstorming a fun, family outing. An Event Coordinator’s job is never complete until they are satisfied with the end result. And trust me, the end result is always worth the wait.
