This wedding took place at the beautiful Whitehall House and Gardens in Louisville, KY. It was truly a perfect October day, great temperature, breathtaking venue and a happy couple! The day began with the ladies getting ready inside the mansion, followed by pizza for the guys, pictures and the big moment, the ceremony. Unique details filled the space including a cake made by the Mother of the Bride, handmade signs for the Ring Bearers, chalkboard signs, matching stationary, gorgeous florals, mirror top table runners, tutu dresses for the Flower Girls and candlelight! It was stunning!

The Special Event 2013

Our team had the amazing opportunity to attend this year’s The Special Event show in Chicago last week. The exhibit hall showcased some of the best event vendors from across the country and displayed items such as linen, entertainment, drape, furniture, accent decor, vases/containers, favors, etc. We truly enjoyed learning about all of the new and exciting products and entertainment in the industry. We were also able to attend some of the educational sessions where we listened to highly regarded event professionals share their knowledge and skills. The sessions validated our thought that event design is much more than choosing colors and linen, it is pairing things together to create an environment and an experience. The show was jaw-dropping to say the least. The pictures below are a small glimpse of the talented designers that participated in the show. GET INSPIRED!

REAL WEDDING : Krista & Ryan

Krista and Ryan were dreaming of an “Old Hollywood” wedding, black and white with pops of yellow. It all started with Krista’s dress, which had subtle black lace and flowers. From there we pulled in glamorous details including a draped dance floor with hanging crystals, black crystal candelabras and black and white damask linen. The day was beautiful as guests enjoyed the grounds at Wildwood Country Club.

Essential Details has been known to have planned some pretty large parties but sometimes it’s the small parties that are the most meaningful. Along with the weddings and events we have put on we have also had our fair share of bridal and baby showers this summer! Showers are an intimate time where the guest of honor can share their excitement with their closest family and friends. Along with spending time with family friends and receiving great gifts, what would a shower be without details! Maybe it’s the food display, decor, personal signs, or a unique type of food that makes the event take on it’s own personality. It’s the details that make these types of small events personal and unique.

Have you heard of EPTA? I recently came across this organization and can’t wait to get involved!

Event Pros Take Action is a charitable organization that lets special events professionals give back to those in need. Their endeavors focus on relief efforts for communities that have experienced a natural disaster and are in the process of recovering from substantial loss and rebuilding communities. Professionals from The Special Events Industry throughout the USA come together in an unprecedented undertaking: a merging all of their talents and products, in an all-out effort to create dramatic results for the communities it aims to impact.

This summer, July 18th- 20th, 2012 , EPTA returned to New Orleans to continue the good work for the community and partnered with St. Bernard Project (SBP). During their visit, they worked with two special families in St Bernard Parrish to put the finishing touches on their homes. The team also planned Welcome-Home Parties for the families involved, leaving not one dry eye in the crowd. In addition, EPTA delivered kitchen baskets and china/glass/silver/linens to a dozen other families. Through this experience, volunteers continued to learn about how Hurricane Katrina impacted the community and hear firsthand of the horrific situations these families have struggled with for six years. Here are some pictures from this year’s mission.

Projects like this make me proud to be in the event industry. People helping people- isn’t that what it’s all about!

This wedding took place at the beautiful Yew Dell Botanical Gardens. If you have never been there you are missing out! The variety of plants and blooming flowers along with the venue space is breathtaking. There is even a small castle for the Bride and her Maids to get dressed in! Talk about fairytale! Megan and Phillip’s wedding was full of personal details that made this day their own. Enjoy!

138th Running of the Kentucky Derby

Who knew that a two minute race could be surrounded by months and months of events and planning? The Kentucky Derby is not only a horse race but an entire season here in Louisville. The city thrives on it’s excitement and tradition. People travel from all over the country to take part in the exhilaration of the Kentucky Derby. This past weekend, Churchill Downs held the 138th “Run for the Roses”! The two minute race along with the pre/post parties and events take an extremely large amount of time and effort to pull off. For the event industry and everyone else involved, Derby is a labor of love. It’s so much more than horses, big hats and mint juleps, it’s an experience. Although this time of year is alot of work, it is with much pride and honor that we were able to be a part of it. This is a little taste of what we created this year!

Joanna and Eric had a beautiful fall wedding at the Sawyer Hayes Community Center, part of E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville. This celebration took place on a crisp autumn day in October. The event was complete with delicious catering from Ladyfingers Catering, gorgeous flowers from Blooms and sweet treats from the Homemade Pie and Ice Cream Kitchen. Enjoy!
