I had already booked my 2011 holiday to Menorca with another very reputable travel agent, but just for the hell of it, i tried the same holiday with sunshine.co.uk and found that i would have saved over £200 and got my two weeks airport parking with prestige into the price. that would have saved me another £70+. Guess who i'm booking my next holiday with!

I kid you not, try it yourself!

Hotels in Spain are always a popular choice among holidaymakers of all kinds, from backpacking trips to family holidays. They are also a regular haunt for potentially the liveliest holiday groups of all - stag and hen parties.
Just a two to two-and-a-half-hour flight from most UK airports, the island of Majorca is a short hop to a fun getaway. Boasting approximately 550 km of gorgeous coastline, high temperatures and vibrant nightlife, it is no surprise that hotels in Majorca are a huge draw for stag and hen groups.
Enticingly, Majorca's prices are ever more competitive compared with those of its sister island and clubbing rival, Ibiza - both in the search for hotels and drink prices. Furthermore, the comparatively low costs do not mean a drop in the quality of entertainment.
Majorca has a steady stream of bars and clubs ready to cater for the needs of stag and hen parties. The vast majority welcome these groups; however, if you are planning a particularly big night out it is worthwhile double checking that the bars you have lined up will be happy to accommodate you.
Among the biggest clubs to visit is the famous BCM Planet Dance - with a capacity for an enormous 5,000 people - and the extremely trendy Pacha. The south side of the island is the liveliest area to be in, with clubbers flocking there in their thousands.
Magaluf remains a popular destination for nightlife-lovers, with a reputation for being a city that never sleeps. It is also the location of the raunchy Dorado Night City, reputed to be the most risque destination for stag and hen parties in Majorca. Erotic shows feature nightly, sure to please most stag groups looking for a wild trip before the groom ties the knot.
The capital city, Palma, is also a great area to hit on a night out. Blessed with a plethora of bars and clubs, it can certainly hold its own against Magaluf when it comes to a evening spent painting the town red.
Despite its distinctly modern appearance, Palma has more to offer than just the clubbing scene. If you are looking to soak up a bit of culture in between nights out on your trip, then Palma is the ideal city to visit, with such delights as the Castle of Bellver and the Royal Palace located near its port.
Adventure-lovers need not fear either - Majorca offers a host of activities perfect for stag and hen parties, such as diving, snorkelling and waterskiing to give you opportunities to feel the rush of adrenaline as well as the relaxation to be found from the great outdoors.
It may be that lazy days in the sun are what you are craving most; if that is the case, Majorca is sure not to disappoint. Its many beaches offer a sunny place to rest and recuperate after nights out on the town, or to play some sports with your friends.
Majorca can cater to virtually any kind of hen or stag party, be it wild and non-stop, adventurous or just plain relaxing and lazy. It is a wonderful bonus that such an ideal location is available at a lower cost than some of its rivals.

With over 4000km of coastline Spain offers a wide choice of sites for beginners to the most experienced of divers. Spain is a fun place for Diving, combining both adventure and sport. It is possible to dive all year round, however, the warm Mediterranean waters of southern Spain offer a more comfortable experience and there are many companies in this area that are more likely to speak English than in the less touristy areas of Spain. Summers are hot, Spring and Autumn mild. The best time for diving is May to September, although the Canaries offer great year-round diving.
Some highlights of diving in Spain are the abundance of Moray eels, Wrasse, soft corals, scorpion fish and octopi which can be seen along the coastline of the Costa del Sol. The Atlantic coast is less popular for overseas divers due to the less developed tourism in the area but still offers some great dive sites. The waters here are colder and English is less widely spoken however the areas of San Sebastian and La Coruna are the main dive centres on this coast. The Balearic and Canaries are good dive locations with Tenerife being the jewel of the islands where Stingrays, Sharks, Baracuda and Octopii can be seen as well as some spectacular geological formations and visibility in all dives sites is good to very good.
Spanish Law states you must be over 16 years of age to engage in scuba diving activities in Spain. Some autonomous regional governments have passed their own laws to relax this limit - but please do check with local dive centers before booking and ensure you have adequate insurance to cover you for this activity.
Spain has a huge variety of diving sites, here are the most popular:
COSTA BLANCA:
Costa Blanca South: The area of Santa Pola / La Marina, located 30 minutes south of Alicante, offers wreck and reef diving, deep diving and a range of courses. An added plus in this area is the Island of Tabarca situation 20 minutes by boat from the main coastline, however diving within this marine reserve will require a special permit. Also, situated in the South east corner of Murcia, La Manga, Cabo de Palos offers a wide range of dives including recreation and Tech diving as well as courses and dives are offered to wrecks, reefs, caves and submerged pinnacles of volcanic rock. 8 main dives sites are offered as well as deeper dive sites for the more experienced. The added benefit for divers here is that the Mediterranean lying to the east has summer water temperatures of 26-28C
Costa Blanca North: Located in Javea, dive schools will take you to a number of the 10 sites located just off the coast. Situated just North of Barcelona, the area of Lloret de Mar is popular with British tourist. A number of dives as well as other watersports including water skiing are readily available here. Close proximity to Girona airport makes this area easily accessible even for just a short break or weekend stay.
COSTA BRAVA: Located around the area of Estartit, Medes Islands Nature reserve there are a number of dive sites to explore. Further along the coast, the area of Rosas, Cap de Creus Natural park offers a unique location between 2 different coastal types and has a number of relatively unspoilt dive sites offering dramatic underwater scenery.
COSTA DEL SOL: Marbella and the surrounding areas of Fuengirola, Torremolinos and Benalmadena are situated in the heart of Spain's Costa del Sol. Dive centres here offer PADI courses and train all divers from entry level up to and including Dive Master. Dives sites include Torreblanca reef, Nerja and Tarifa.
ALCUDIA: In Alcudia there is a British owned dive centre with English, German and Spanish speaking instructors, offering a full range of PADI courses up to and including Instructor. There are facilities including classrooms and heated training pools based in Porto Pollensa (Club Pollentia) Playa De Muro (Esperanza Complex) and a booking centre in Alcudia Mar. Open water and guided shore dives are some are among the packages offered.
COSTA TROPICAL: Salobreña, Motril, Almuñécar, La Herradura, Nerja or Calahonda Suitable, safe and interesting dive spots are the locations and both courses and fun dives are available. Located close to Granada and Malaga airports, this area is great for holidays where some of the party dives and others don't as there are so many other water sports and tourist attractions on land, it makes the perfect holiday for all.
MENORCA: Menorca offers a range of diving, from Caves and wrecks to beginners and padi courses. Along the beautiful coastline there are many different types of courses, day and course dives on offer.
ALMUNECA: Located in a beautiful location on Granada's tropical coast. There are 9 dives sites in the area in total including Punta de la Mona, Marina del Esta, Tres Picos and Cantarrijan. With shore diving, open water and a variety of courses available, this area is a great location for a dive holiday.
COSTA AZAHAR: You will find 8 dives sites, including the island columbrettas, located around the area of Oropesa.
CABO DE GATA: Las Negras is a beautiful fishing village located in Cabo de Gata - Nijar Natural Park. For here, in Cordoba, Romans, Goths, Jews, Moors and Christians triumphed and succumbed in succession, molding the city in their own image, to offer up a surprising amalgam of cultures and religions, and a couple of architectural gems besides.
And for first-time visitors to this colorful, sun-drenched Spanish city, here are its top attractions.
1. La Mezquita
If Cordoba is famous for one thing, it is its mosque-cum-cathedral, La Mezquita. This is among the largest mosques in the world, and singularly the most astonishing with its mad mix of Islamic, Mudejar, Renaissance and Baroque influences. Begun in 784 AD and built on the site of a Visigoth church, which in turn was built on the site of a Roman temple, the original mosque was embellished and added to over the centuries; until in the 13th century, when Christians conquered the city and consecrated the mosque to be a Christian cathedral, a chapel was added, followed in 1523 by a Christian cathedral built inside the original mosque. While the exterior of the mosque/cathedral may appear nondescript, the interior is deeply mesmerizing, with more than 800 columns with Roman capitals and horseshoe arches, patterned in yellow and red, one atop another, in a petrified forest that literally saturates a couple of dozen naves. La Mezquita is open to the public from April until June, daily except Sunday; admission fee is 6.50 euros.
2. La Alcazar de los Reyes Christianos
In another example of the clash of Christianity and Islam, La Alcazar de los Reyes Christianos, a Gothic fortress cum royal residence, stands atop a Muslim castle, no less. The Alcazar was begun in 1327 under Alfonso XI, and was later on the residence of Catholic monarchs Ferdinand and Isabel who, it is claimed, saw Christopher Columbus off on his trip to the New World from there. From the battlements of the fortress, which overlook the Guadalquivir, there are good views of Puente Romano, the Roman Bridge built by Emperor Augustus. The fortress, located at Campo Santo de los Martires, is open daily. Admission fee: 2 euros.
3. Cordoba's Synagogue
Cordoba's Synagogue, representing a Mudejar work that dates from 1315, is the last of its kind in existence in southern Spain. Of particular interest here are the floral motifs and epigraphs on the interior walls that reference psalms and the Song of Songs. The synagogue is open daily.
4. La Casa Andalusi
La Casa Andalusi, located at Judios 12, is a showcase of the elegant living quarters of Al-Andalus. Here you can visit an ivory-colored patio with a pebbled mosaic floor and also a basement with traces of the Visigothic era. There is a room dedicated entirely to the Moorish culture at the casa as well, displaying Arabic coins, clothing and artworks, and an early-day printing press that was used to print the Koran during that period. The museum is open daily, and there is an admission fee of 2.50 euros per person.
5. Museo Arqueologico
In eight fully-stocked rooms on two levels, the Museo Arqueologico exhibits prehistoric and Roman-era artifacts such as coins, sculptures and mosaics, as well as 4th- and 8th-century Visigothic and Muslim relics. The museum is located at Plaza Jeronimo Paez 7, and open daily, except Monday. Museum admission is 1.50 euro each.
Baljeet Sangwan is a globetrotter, travel editor and travel writer who has published 12 travel guidebooks. However, this train is located in the city and not the airport, so you will need to either use the bus service from the airport into Alicante or use a rental car should you not wish the car beyond that point. This train has its separate station that is situated in the north end of Alicante's harbor region. These trains are scheduled several times each day. It is however, a very expedient way to travel.
Benidorm is renowned for its nightlife. There are numerous taverns and discos in the city and the entire district comes to life at night. The merrymaking lasts until nearly dawn. If you enjoy nightlife, song, and jazz, you will want to investigate the city in darkness.
Guy Morris's news stories can be encountered on plenty of online sites associated with Benidorm maps and where is Benidorm. In Spain you can take your children out with you until late, as it is common for families to take their children to restaurants during the evening and socially this is perfectly acceptable unlike the UK.
Spain is a country where children are allowed a lot of the freedom that we give only to adults. It may not be right to keep a five year old up until eleven o'clock but the Spanish don't worry about it. It means that for a short time whilst you are travelling on holiday if you want to you can take your children with you wherever you go and they will be welcomed. Children, especially those with blonde hair or blue eyes will find their hair tousled as they walk about. The Spanish are very tactile and both men and women will go up to children, have a quick chat with them as they pass about their business. Free sweets and biscuits are often handed out. It isn't unusual in restaurants for waiters to disappear with the baby whilst you enjoy your meal. Don't worry, they are being entertained, leaving you to eat in peace.
If you are travelling with a baby in Spain and need to do a quick nappy change, you will find nappy changing facilities a rare sight indeed. Parents usually use their prams/pushchairs for this. The large department store El Corte Ingles found in all the major cities do provide baby changing facilities in their cloakroom.
Baby formula is found in local supermarkets or pharmacies. They are different to those in the UK but some brands you will recognize such as Nestle. The tins have numbers on them. Number one is for younger babies up to four months and number two is for older babies. If you have a child than will only drink SMA formula please bring it with you as at the time of writing I have never seen this brand available in Spain. Babies can sometimes get upset stomachs if their baby milk is changed so if you are worried about this just pack extra formula from the UK.
Baby foods are available from supermarkets in much larger jars than we have in the UK and the flavours are different. I found with my children that there were favourites but it took a little time. If you have a fussy eater then it may again be best to pack some baby food in tins from home so that you do not have the stress of trying to persuade your child to eat.
There are many different brands of nappies. The brand Didot seems to be one of the most popular and is made by the same manufacturer as Pampers. Some of the cheaper brands like those in the UK leak quickly so it is worth paying the extra for Didot nappies.
When travelling with children in Spain by car you must by Law have them restrained with a seat belt and young children. by this I mean children under the age of twelve are not allowed to travel in the front seat of a car. The police will stop you and fine you if you are found to be on the wrong side of the Law.
The sun in Spain is very intense, especially in the summer and young children should not be out in it when possible. If they must be on the beach in the middle of the day they must have high protective cream added frequently, sunglasses, a hat with a wide brim and if possible lightweight long sleeved tops. It is very easy for children to burn and studies have shown that children that have been exposed to sunburn more than twice have a highly increased of having skin cancer when they are adults. It is a parent's sole responsibility to ensure that their children do not burn. We used to take a long lunch and then go to the pool or beach much later in the afternoon when we were on holiday in Spain. Putting on suntan lotion is a pain but not as much as sunburn! Supermarkets such as Tesco in the summer offer quite cheap all in one suits, cut off at the knees that provide total UV cover for those areas covered and they are waterproof too. They look like mini wetsuits that divers would wear and are ideal for children that are going to spend a lot of time in the water.
There are a few customs regarding children in Spain which may be of interest to you. Girls in Spain have their ears pierced within a few days of being born and it is a common practice to shave the infants head in the belief that it will make the hair grow stronger. I have a Spanish friend who wasn't keen on the idea of shaving off her daughter's beautiful head of hair. However it is still a firm belief of the older generation. Her mum babysat for a day and on her return my friend found her daughter was bald!
Saying this, the Spanish are much more relaxed about having children than we are in the UK. They have a strong sense of family and with most parents working they do not feel the need to hire a babysitter for their children when they can so easily take their children with them wherever they go. If the children are tired the next day then they have a little nap in the afternoon, their siesta. This works for Spanish children, but in my experience trying to get a child from the UK to take a nap in the afternoon is like pulling teeth.
So if you want to avoid tantrums caused by overtired children perhaps you may only want to try the late nights with the children a couple of times for the sake of a happy family holiday.
Enjoy your holiday in Spain with your children, try to be more flexible about rigid bedtimes and everyone should have a very happy time. Ole!
http://www.InSpain.tv
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Anna_Meredith
jet2hols -

It is a local saying that ‘the sun is almost always shining in Spain’. Holidays in Spain could see you wandering around idyllic rural villages, exploring ancient castles and ruins, sampling wine in a bodega or simply relaxing on one of its many Mediterranean beaches – in temperatures up to 42◦C. This can all be taken in at the leisurely pace that seems to pervade the entire country.

Of course, Spain has long been popular as a holiday destination with the famous resorts on the Costa Del Sol, Costa Blanca and Costa Brava continuing to provide a big draw for British tourists. While these areas are well known for cheap package deals in recent years more upmarket resorts have sprung up offering a more exclusive offering to international visitors. The Spanish islands offer a different slice of Spain, from the year round African sunshine of the Canary Islands to the legendary chilled out, party vibe of the Balearics.

Culture enthusiasts will be able to explore castles, churches, ruins, monuments and forts that pepper the country and bear testament to the repeated invasions that this country suffered over the centuries. If you want your Spain holidays to include a frisson of adventure, you could visit to the bullring or even trek across this stunning kingdom on horseback and discover why the Spanish stallions are world-famous for their grace and temperament.
MONSTERTRAVEL
The cuisine reflects the many cultures that have left their mark here. You might want to enjoy the local paella (a dish of Valencia rice with seafood and chicken), which varies in ingredients from region to region, or watch the sun set over a sleepy skyline and enjoy an unhurried selection of tapas which are sure to show the diversity of Spanish cuisine.

The famous sherry exported by Spain is also a must-do. A visit to a bodega in Jerez will show you exactly how the drink is made – from grape to glass in one afternoon. Sherry is also a prominent drink at the many, colourful carnivals that take place throughout the calendar. Food, music, wine and dance combine to create a heady mix of sight, sound and taste.

There is something for everyone in Spain, whether you are looking for family holidays in the sun or romantic winter breaks.

More information on the Spanish resorts at
Majorca: Menorca: Ibiza: Costa Blanca: Costa Brava: Costa Del Sol: Tenerife: Canary Islands: Lanzarote:
MONSTERTRAVEL

5 Reasons to book with us
1. France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay are north and to the west is the Atlantic Ocean and Portugal. Spain is the second largest country in Western Europe after France.
For those looking for a beach holiday, there are excellent beaches to be found near Malaga, Huelva and Almería in the south and near the coasts of La Manga, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and Euskadi. For the livelier there are plenty of crowded beaches on the Costa de la Luz and the Costa del Sol.
For those who want to soak up some culture, unique architecture can be found in Córdoba, Salamanca, Granada, Toledo, Madrid. Antoni Gaudí's architecture can be found in Barcelona, along with the Picasso museum, and Madrid is home to Spain's top three art museums.
Spain holidays will cater to many different tastes including walking in the fabulous countryside, especially around the Aragón area. Andalucía has the Sierra Nevada mountain chain and offers skiing resorts near Granada. Between Guadix and Baza cave-dwellings can be found, cave hotels, and beautiful natural parks.
The hottest times to visit Spain are between May and September as well as April and October in the south. High season begins during Holy Week (Semana Santa) and includes festival days. Summer is the obvious high season for coastal and interior regions in Spain when tourism reaches its height.
There is always something for everyone in Spain and if you just want to wander the streets of the main cities, the locals are very welcoming, receiving up to 30 million tourists every year. The guide was first started by Andre Michelin in 1900 and the first edition was a guide to France, with advice about travelling by car and on how to find good places to stay and have a meal while on route. The guides are now published annually and there is one published for France, Austria, Spain/Portugal, Netherlands/Belgium and Luxembourg, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Uk/Ireland, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.
The guide awards one to three stars to a small number of restaurants of outstanding quality. Stars are awarded sparingly. One star indicates "a very good restaurant in its category", two stars indicate a restaurant with "excellent cooking, worth a detour", and three stars indicate a restaurant with "exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey".
There are five Majorca Restaurants with Michelin Stars. Tristan Restaurant in Puerto Portals and Chef Gerhard Schwaiger has 2 michelin stars, Bacchus Restaurant at Read's Hotel and Chef Marc Fosh has one michelin star, Es Raco des Teix Restaurant in Deia and Chef Josef Sauerschell has one michelin star, Es Moli den Bou Restaurant in Sant Llorenc des Cardassar and Chef Tomeu Caldentey has one michelin star, and Plat d'Or Restaurant in the Arabella Golf Hotel in Son Vida and Chef Rafael Sanchez has one michelin star.
The Michelin Star rating has become a very prestigious award for any restaurant and its Chef, and the guide has been known to take away a star if a restaurant falls in quality for some reason. For the island of Mallorca to have five restaurants with Michelin stars is quite an achievement and a great complement to Mallorcan cuisine, its chefs and its restaurants.
Victoria Amengual is a regular contributor to http://www.skybluemallorca.com/ SkyBlue Mallorca, The most complete Food & Wine Guide for Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain Victoria's Blog: http://www.liveonskybluemallorca.blogspot.com/
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Victoria_Amengual
jet2hols -

Many families have adopted the custom of putting up a Christmas tree - a practice that originated in northern Europe.
Around mid-December, outdoor Christmas markets begin to fill the streets of the old quarters in most Spanish towns, with vendors selling their wares of decorations, ornaments, nativity-scene figures, candy, toys, and gifts.
A visit to a Spanish Christmas market is a delight for the senses. Besides the profusion of colors and sights, the scent of evergreens adds to the holiday spirit. Christmas wreaths, branches of pine and holly, and pine and fir trees of every size are available for sale.
In every house in Spain, poor or rich, the universal pre- Christmas activity is the construction and erection of the family nacimiento, the Nativity scene. Many families buy the necessary figures, but most make their own setting - a cave or stable, and a background that may be as simple as shepherds on a hillside or as elaborate as a re-creation of the entire town of Bethlehem.
The Spanish Christmas Eve is known a Noche Buena, the "good night." It is a time of gaiety and merrymaking. In cities and villages people browse through the markets for last-minute purchases of food, decorations, and presents.
The traditional Noche Buena dinner is quite an elaborate meal, consisting of several courses and menus vary from province to province. The celebration of midnight mass on Christmas Eve is still a widespread custom. For this special occasion, priest put on their most gorgeous robes, some of them worn only on Christmas Eve. Priests, choir, and congregation join to sing traditional carols.
Gift giving on either Christmas Eve or the morning of Christmas Day has become more customary for some families in urban Spain. Santa Claus is the bearer of these Christmas gifts. Three Kings' Day is the traditional and still universal Spanish holiday for the exchange of presents.
The customs are beautiful, all blending together to create a joyous celebration. Cherish the coming Christmas holiday in Spain.
Paz y Alegria
Elizabeth Day blogs at http://edaycafe.com
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Elizabeth_Day
jet2hols -

Consider Spain" />
Planning a European Holiday? Consider Spain

Are you planning a European vacation? If your time is limited and you want to visit a country with a lot in the way of culture, sights, history and entertainment then Spain is a must. This country is brimming with sights and activities for tourists so consider it alone or as part of a European holiday.
First off, you'll need to research where and what you want to visit. Pick up a detailed map of Spain in a book store or find one on the internet. A map will help you orientate yourself with the geography and typography of the country. You will be able to determine where to go for the beach and where mountain retreats are located.
No matter where you decide to go in Spain you are sure to have an amazing time and enjoy the Spanish culture. There is something for everyone. If you're traveling alone then there is plenty to keep you busy and the Spanish people are warm and inviting. If you're traveling with a family then there are things to keep everyone entertained. You can golf at one of the many coastal golf courses while the rest of the family has fun at the beach.
The climate is moderate so you can have an enjoyable holiday in Spain no matter what time of year it is. The south of Spain is especially nice; it's not exceptionally warm in winter but it is pleasant and is much warmer than other Western European regions. Even when it's cold, the large cities will keep you busy with indoor and outdoor sights.
While the Euro is strong, Spain is reasonable compared to other Western European countries so a holiday here can be affordable. There are many good deals available especially if you're willing to travel in off peak and non-holiday times of year. Even deeper discounts can be found if you're traveling with a group and rent an apartment in a large city or one of the many coastal cities.
Packages are available that include hotel, air and transfers. There are also ones that include excursions, sightseeing, meals and car rentals. These packages are generally less expensive than booking everything separately.
To book your Spanish holiday you have a few options. Use the internet to research destinations and available packages. Find maps of Alicante and other cities to visit and explore. There are many online tools to help you find the lowest hotel and air fares available during your desired travel time. Travel agents are also useful and can tailor make your holiday to fit your interests. Many travel agents have first hand experience with the packages they sell so they can recommend the best holiday for you.
The collaborator Jerry Blackburn is really interested in areas associated with street map of Alicante and map of Alicante area of Spain. Different regions all offer unique landscapes, lifestyles, cuisine and opportunities for exploration.
Spain is a country of sleepy villages where the siesta is still observed and wonderful meals are served not before 3pm for lunch and 9pm for dinner. This is traditional Spain - and you don't have to travel far from popular resort areas to find it.
But of course, Spain is also the hustle and bustle of the big, modern cities - with international standard hotels, major art centres and museums. Sporting legacies from the Olympic Games of 1992 as well as the fanatically-followed football teams all add to the mix of non-stop attractions for city breaks or multi-centre visits. Of course, Spain also has some of the most dramatic landscapes and seascapes in Europe.
So: here are a set of Top 10 Tips which reflect the best of Spain:
Beaches: From the cosy coves of the Costa Brava to the vast acres of golden sand on the island of Fuerteventura, there is a beach to suit you whether you like a busy resort or a strip of sand near a fishing village.
Nightlife: The Spanish like it long and late and you're more than welcome to join in. Check out a traditional flamenco show or the hottest sounds on the disco island of Ibiza.
Food: Tapas bars have brought Spanish cuisine to many countries, and you will soon discover it is as varied and delicious as anywhere in Europe. Don't forget rice-based paella, Spain's national dish.
Wine: There are wine growing regions all over the country, the best-known being La Rioja in the north. Visit Jerez to see the home of sherry and check out the little known vintages of the Canaries.
Art: Spain has produced world-renowned painters ranging from classical Velazquez to surrealist Picasso. Madrid has some of the finest art museums in the world.
Cities: All the buzz and excitement of Spain comes together in the capital, Madrid; and Barcelona, the Olympics city by the sea. Also look at up-and-coming Seville, Valencia and Palma.
Nature: Spain is home to many national parks, such as the Picos de Europa in the north and Donana in the south. Tenerife has Spain's highest peak, Mount Teide.
History: Did you know the Moorish Arabs ruled Spain for seven centuries, and that their legacy includes the fabulous Alhambra Palace in Granada? You'll find palaces and castles everywhere.
Shopping: Big city stores such as El Corte Ingles rub shoulders with colourful traditional markets. The Canaries are a duty-free zone.
Touring: Hire a car or take your own, and discover the "Real Spain" along the back roads. Look no further than El Rastro!
Set your alarm for 09:00 on a Sunday morning and head off to the Rastro flea market. Yes, it may be crazy to get up this early in the weekends, but for the thousands of people who wake up early to head to what is arguably the coolest flea market in the world, it's nothing more than typical Sunday behavior in Madrid. If you are there early you can get the chance to pick up the best bargains.
The Rastro is the largest flea market in Spain, and gets going every Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm, all year long. Looking for leather goods like bags and coats? They got it. Want to buy paintings or art? It's there. Small, not very useful plastic souvenirs? Clothing? It's all here. More in the mood for furniture? Music? Antiques? You've come to the right place. You can find just about anything, used and new, cheap and cheaper at the Rastro. Haggle that vendor down from his starting price and walk away with a bargain or two at any of the 3,500 stalls.
Indubitably, after all that shopping you'll have worked up a great hunger and thirst. You are well catered for. The bars that line the Rastro overflow on Sundays as the market shoppers pop in for beers and snacks which often include such delicacies as paella, olives, sardines and calamari.
How to get there? Take the metro to La Latina or to Puerta de Toledo (Metro line 5) and you will find yourself in the center of it all.
More about El Rastro, Spain's largest flea market, including shopping tips can be found at Dirt Cheap Madrid.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Ken_Sand
jet2hols -

It's hard to imagine how things must have changed since then. This pioneering group of travellers stayed in a small village with only a handful of family run hotels. There were no banks or other amenities and one local shop could change traveller's cheques.
Today Spanish tourism is big business; no other country in Europe entertains so many tourists each year. Almost the entire southern coast has been opened up to the travel industry. In the early 1980's it was Torremolinos and Malaga which were the fashionable places to visit. Just down the coast road from Torremolinos is Benalmadena, often named by locals as Torremolinos MKII, where Torremolinos was allowed to grow haphazard, Benalmadena had a little more planning. The marina when finished won the award for most beautiful marina in the world for several years running. The famous 24 hour square or Plaza Sol y Mar to give it's real name still remains a nightlife mecca for young holidaymakers visiting the Costa del Sol.
These days almost the entire Costa del Sol is a tourist haven, many of the original, quickly constructed hotels have been removed and new, modern and luxurious resorts replace them. The Costa Brava has also seen major re-development as the original accommodation erected hastily to house the droves of tourists flocking to the area in the 1970's have been replaced with some of the best resorts found in Europe.
Who can mention a Spanish holiday without mentioning the Golf? There are over 300 world class courses along the coast, many of them forming part of a resort. Green fees are generally much lower than the UK, although some of the better courses, mostly designed by world famous golfers, reflect their high quality in the price you pay to play.
Spain is not all about sun and sand, the cosmopolitan town of Barcelona positively brims over with character and is an excellent destination for a short city break from the UK. Flights are generally inexpensive and accommodation options are varied. If architecture is your thing then Barcelona is the city for you. Not only will you find Gaudi here but many modernist pieces by such people as Puig i Cadafalch and Domenech i Montaner.
Travelling to Spain is easy and cheap, flights are often less expensive than a train journey within the UK. Amazing deals can be had especially when booking last minute. Almost all major UK tour operators have products to suit a huge range of travellers.
As a prime European holiday destination Spain carries a 'been there done that' kind of attitude. Originally making many mistakes as it attempted to cater to the almost overnight bloom in tourism, it has now refined its offerings and once again sits at the top of the list as a European travel destination. No matter what kind of holiday you are looking for Spain has it all, from the bountiful. Idyllic beaches of the Costa Brava, the quant white villages of Andalucía to the heady nightlife of Barcelona and Madrid you are bound to find something to your taste in a Spanish holiday.
Julia Vakulenko is a licensed broker associate with Tampa4U.com Realty. Vacationers may believe they can only go to another country with a tour group or travel agency. This also presents the problems that arise with traveling on someone else's schedule. Other people decide when you eat or where you visit.
A self-catering Spanish holiday can ease such expectations and offer complete relaxation. These wonderful excursions eliminate the worries of a rigorous, fast-paced schedule. Your self-catering holiday in Spain is the leisurely alternative for those who want to get away on their own schedule.
One of the hottest travel destinations worldwide is the country of Spain. From Barcelona to Madrid, travelers come to enjoy the tremendous art and history. Spain has many self-catering vacation opportunities. Rental villas are currently available throughout the country, and you can choose any location, from a tranquil rustic lodge to an incredibly chic apartment.
Self-catering is self-explanatory. You come and go at your leisure. You can visit the attractions when it is convenient for you. You can enjoy shopping and gourmet cuisine outside the confines of a group arrangement. A self-catering holiday in Spain involves renting a villa or apartment and enjoying the area as a resident. This is the ultimate scenario for the family vacation.
The size of your rental property depends entirely on your travel budget. Standard villas are available for smaller families or intimate groups. Large self-catering facilities are available to accommodate a large number of guests.
Many self-catering villas have panoramic views or personal swimming pools. They come with their own kitchen facilities and living areas. This means that you can cook familiar foods whenever you like.
Travel may seem like an impossible task if you have a member of the family who requires a specialized diet. A self-catering villa provides you with the tools you need to accommodate special needs of all kinds. A facility with a kitchen is also an ideal choice due to the available produce in Spain. Large farmer's markets can be found throughout the country. These are supplied with the freshest produce available.
Self-catering vacations allow children the freedom to play. Excursions can be planned around their exercise and activity needs. Parents are free to relax knowing their children have ample opportunity to explore their rental villa without concerns of strangers.
It is relatively easy to plan a self-catering holiday. The primary task is research. If at all possible, try to plan your vacation as early as possible. The best time is at least six months before you plan to leave. Choose your ideal destination and research the cost of staying there. This will give you the necessary information to plan your trip.
Rental listings can be found across the Internet. You should look at the standard information, such as the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. You should also see if any rental properties in the area have extra features.
