Sometimes the most amazing outcomes have the humblest beginnings.

In our particular case, this piece started out by a simple email from BAKER’s, PR Managers’, assistant.

“We represent an artist that has a great sense of style and we think would be a great match to your online magazine. You have a music section right?”

So we performed our due diligence and checked out his official website http://www.bakermusic.com/ to see what we were getting ourselves into.

Upon review, we thought to ourselves: Great website. Good looking dude. Nice sense of style.

But the thing that really got us interested was this song:

BAKER – ALL I’M GONNA SAY by BAKERmusicofficial

We actually listened to it a few times and the main reason this song piqued our interest was because it sounded like something which was already getting airplay on the radio.

But it wasn’t.

So we thought to ourselves, he’s got the look, he’s got a classic sense of style and he’s got the music. Why wouldn’t ESM take this opportunity to feature what could possibly be the next big thing?

As we dug deeper, we found out more information that got us excited about featuring BAKER.

His family owns and operates one of the oldest men’s custom clothiers in the United States
His dad races vintage Porsches on the East Coast
He’s a Harvard grad who is also a classical cellist

Finally, he has songs like this:

For us here at ESM, BAKER’s music is the amalgamation of style, the best in pop music and a persona that has every possibility to become very successful in the music industry.

Right now, it’s just a matter of time and exposure. And we’ve got #2 handled.

Finally, it’s hard for us to write this article without talking about the photo shoot and video interview.

We collaborated with BAKER’s team and came up with the concept of a modern interpretation of a James Dean photo shoot. Over the course of a few weeks of continuous preparation, the final product is something we were very happy with.

We were even fortunate enough to use a vintage Speedster replica from the folks at TruSpeed Motorsports for the shoot.

So in the future when you hear one of BAKER’s songs on the radio, turn it up and remember you heard it here first on ESM.

Like we said in the beginning, sometimes the most amazing things come from the humblest beginnings.

RSD BUILD OF THE WEEK: Black Beauty

We love bikes.

Sports bikes, cruisers, street fighters and custom builds all make us froth at the mouth. Then there are Roland Sands custom builds.

Simply put, the RSD guys just take it to the next level of awesomeness.

The Black Beauty was such a great build it was also featured on the March 2010 issue of Ultimate Motorcycling. Quite honestly, we think it should have been featured on every motorcycle publication out there.

Isn’t it weird how you come across new music?

Most of the time it’s probably because you heard it on the radio. On occassion, you’ll get recommendations from friends.

In today’s case, our friend just happened to play the drums for the music video.

Just disregard the fact the artist looks like he is 16.

YOUR WEEKLY FIX: Katilin Tierney

For today’s installment of Your Weekly Fix: Style advice from a beautiful woman, we have the “wish she really was the girl next door” girl, Katilin Tierney.

Katilin is a small town girl who moved to the big city for a better opportunity.

Modeling is a new found love for her and she enjoys working with photographers that have tasteful ideas. She is also currently a full-time office administrator at a medical clinic in Southern California.

Throughout the work week, Katilin finds dealing with various office issues makes her life a little stressful.

According to her, it’s often nice to unwind in front of a camera. (That’s great news for us.)

Additionally, Katilin enjoys working out, running, hiking and anything outdoors. She’s notoriously competitive and can often be seen playing sports such as softball, volleyball, and basketball.

Bonus points for all you gearheads out there - Katilin is an avid car girl and owns a… wait for it…. Corvette which she considers her pride and joy.

You’ll often find her working on her car in the garage rather than working on a meal in her kitchen.

And no, we won’t give you her number just because she is your dream girl. Here’s her advice for our readers.

What are things a man should do when they are on a date?

Take charge! You’re taking her out.

Ask what kind of food she likes and then make a decision from that. An indecisive man is unattractive.
Always remember to smile. Women are strange, exotic, intuitive creatures, and we respond well to positive reinforcement. What may be a simple smile to you can melt her heart!
Ask questions. This seems obvious right? Some men like to talk about themselves, and some men don’t talk very much at all. Women like attention. Ask a question and listen to her answer. It’s that simple!
Use flattery, appropriately. Don’t call her beautiful, pretty, or gorgeous while she’s taking a bite, drinking from her wine glass, or in the middle of saying a sentence… that can be very awkward… and rude. Always mind your manners.
Take care of the bill without comment.
When your date has come to an end, make it a point ask if she enjoyed it. Be a gentleman; walk her to her door, give her a hug and say goodnight.

If you’re wondering why the two latest posts look vaguely familiar to items found in the most recent Robb Report, it’s because they were featured in the latest Robb Report.

We’re fans of the publication (we actually pay the yearly subscription to get the magazine) and especially loved their feature on the Hedonist Open by Art of Kinetik.

The design of this 19m open yacht caught our attention and quickly made us check our bank accounts.

If the Devil were a man, he wouldn’t wear Prada.

He’d wear these Christian Louboutin Daddy Flat Loafers with a black, double-breasted Hugo Boss suit (with red lining of course).

We’ve seen this shoe on a lot of sites, such as the Robb Report (http://robbreport.com/Paid-Issue/FrontRunners-Body-Art-and-Sole/MediaAlbum?aid=986770&iid=986771) and HypeBeast (http://hypebeast.com/2011/05/christian-louboutin-daddy-flat/) and are undoubtedly attracted by the color and material combo.

I mean, a black corduroy loafer with red tassles made of leather? Straight up evil.

When we checked out the official Christian Louboutin website, we couldn’t find the shoes (might still be coming soon)
Given the opportunity, we don’t think we have the ‘nads to pull these $995 shoes off

SPORTS & FITNESS: E&E Energy and Endurance™ Pre-Workout Formula

Now that I’m almost done with my third week for P90X (to get in shape like Bond), I feel amazing and am extremely happy I started the program.

What I really wanted it for was more energy to make it through the intense P90X workouts (more specifically, for the plyometrics part of the program).

Unfortunately, I received the E&E Energy and Endurance™ Pre-Workout Formula right after my plyo day, but have been taking it before every workout since.

I even had some before I played beach volleyball for a few hours yesterday.

The result?

Definitely had more energy, especially at the beginning to the middle of the workout. When I did the legs and back routine of P90X, I wasn’t dying half way through the program. When I played volleyball, I was moving around the court pretty quickly and easily.

I think it was a combination of both the P90X program and the E&E Energy and Endurance™ Pre-Workout Formula.

So far so good – I intend to keep using it before intense workouts. However I do have a few notes on my experience, before trying it out yourself:

I never drink energy drinks, nor do I drink coffee. I played it safe by taking just one scoop of the formula and it seems to work fine for me.
The packaging says to use the pre-workout formula on training days only. I would definitely recommend the same.

FOOD & DINING: Miro Restaurant at Bacara Resort & Spa, Santa Barbara

Miro is a wonderful restaurant with fantastic food and amazing service.

Have you ever been to a higher-end restaurant where everything just comes together perfectly?

My wife calles it the “trifecta”:

Beautiful ambience
Impeccable service
Amazing food

As most of you may already know, these three things rarely come together at once. Sometimes the place will look beautiful and the service is great, but the food tastes like cardboard. Sometimes the place is beautiful and the food is 5-star, but the service is sub-par.

You get my point.

So whenever we come across a restaurant that has everything, we have to feature it on ESM and tell everyone about it.

For today’s Food & Dining installment, we are featuring Miro Restaurant at the Bacara Resort & Spa (http://www.bacararesort.com/restaurants/miro/). The restaurant is a wonderful jewel nestled in one of the best spa resorts in Southern California.

The restaurant makes you feel like you are in a museum. Where you can eat food.

Their menu changes about 3 times a year based on the type of food that is in season and chef David Garwacki does an amazing job creating some very tasty dishes for customers to enjoy.

I ordered the Prix Fixe Menu and it came with a Carnaroli Rice “Carbonara”:

Slow poached hen egg, organic parmesan pancetta bacon and grated perigord black truffle.

Channel Island Halibut:

Parsnip puree, braised bloomsdale spinach and saffron-vanilla sauce.

Duo of Certified Angus Beef:

72-hour short ribs, sweet carrot puree, petite mustard greens, tenderloin, brown butter roasted carrots, chanterelle mushrooms and sauce periguex.

Glace a la Vanille:

Caramel "braised" pineapple, cinnamom sable, macadamia nut "nougatine" and Pedro Ximenez "nectar".

And Orange Blossom Beignets:

Toasted pistachio pot de creme.

If you think all of that looked amazing (which they were), the items on my Prix Fixe Menu didn’t qualify to be my favorite dish from Miro. The dish to end all other dishes was what my wife ordered.

The Butter Poached Maine Lobster Tail. Holy mother of all that is good in the world.

Veal sweetbreads, espelette, celeriac, celery branch, chanterelle, almond.

And the service?

We wouldn’t be writing this article if it wasn’t impeccable. Our waiter was knowledgable and friendly. We even got to meet the restaurant manager, Jonathan Auchterlonie who gave my wife a copy of the menu signed by himself, the chef and the sommelier.

The chef even came out and said hello.

Needless to say, we had an amazing time at Miro. We are definitely going back and would recommend anyone who is planning to be in the Santa Barbara area to check it out.

DREAM GARAGE: 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Project “Heaven” from Secret Entourage

Jealousy isn’t really our style.

Well, that is until we saw this 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage project build by the guys at Secret Entourage.

Dubbed “Project Heaven”, this beautiful V8 Vantage was tastefully done with upgrades from D2 Forged Wheels, RSC Tuning, The Vantage Collection and Klutch22. Although we’ve seen photos of this car around, we didn’t realize how much work went into the build until we read the full article series on Secret Entourage.

According to the articles on the build, they chose some of the best partners to create one of the best V8 Vantages on the road:

Vantage C upgrade from RSC Tuning (includes ECU upgrade, exhaust and new CAT filters)
20″ D2 Forged VS1 wheels (staggered, of course)
Carbon fiber body upgrades from The Vantage Collection

They even successfully increased the notably “sluggish” (the term being relative of course) V8 Vantage into a proper 430 HP sports car.

So why are we jealous with envy?

Aside from Secret Entourage’s V8 Vantage being one of the prettiest cars out there, we had been toying around with the idea of doing a project car of our own here at ESM for a few months.

Yup, it was going to be a Vantage.

Hopefully if we still do our own project Vantage, the boys from Secret Entourage will take it as a sincere form of flattery more than anything else.

They did such an amazing job on this build, we’ve got it on our favorites and will probably use some of the advice they gave in their article series.

The watch is basically a limited, special edition chronograph created by Ernst Benz for John Varvatos. In our estimation, it’s probably because he carries their watches in all their stores.

Quite honestly, I would have never known where to buy an Ernst Benz if it wasn’t for John Varvatos.

This particular timepiece is beautiful and worthy enough to match up with your brand-spanking-new John Varvatos suit. As always, we love the contrast stitching on the strap and the classic arabic numberals on the face.

Our color option? We’d select the black face because real rock & roll studs always wear black.

For this week’s installment of Your Weekly Fix, we have Elpromotions model Chloe Harvey. Oddly enough, her goals for this year are very similar to ours.

Chloe Harvey is a full-time Model that recently moved back to Manchester after living for the past two years in Beirut, Lebanon where she started her modeling career.

In the past few years as a photo and runway model, she has been featured in Beirut Fashion Week and the L’oreal Hair Show two years in a row.

Chloe is very passionate about fashion and hopes to one day be a Victoria’s Secret Model.

In 2012 her goals are to travel more and to party harder.

What are things a man should never wear?

Jesus sandals with socks are a definite no-no. Actually, ANY sandals-with-socks look is a definite “no”.

Additionally, pedicures aren’t only for girls. A guy friend of mine once told me he can tell how clean and well groomed a girl is by the state of her nails.

Guess what gentlemen – girls notice these things too.

Being a guy is no excuse for having poorly groomed feet. Trim back the nails and freshen up your look if you plan on wearing sandals this summer!
