As always, there is so much that we can learn from both of them.

Nadal Inside-Out Forehand Drill

Check out Nadal’s footwork as he moves around backhand after backhand that his coach feeds to him from a net position. As always, Nadal is the poster child for effort and intensity as he hustles to run around and crush every shot aggressively:

Nadal Crazy Baseline Drill

A lot of people have asked me if Rafael Nadal practices as intensely as you would assume he does by watching him play matches. The answer is: 100% yes. He’s an animal every minute he’s on the court and this drill is a perfect example.

His coach ran him through this side to side baseline drill at least 6-8 times towards the end of their hour and a half hitting session.

Federer Jump Overhead/Smash

This is just a quick clip of one shot that I saw Federer hit during a practice session. It’s a perfect example of relaxed, laid back style in action. It takes incredible talent to do something this dynamic and still remain relaxed and in balance!

Update: Sold Out!

This is an amazing opportunity to work with me in person over the course of a full weekend to improve your singles results! This clinic will feature instruction exclusively on singles strategy (for the first time ever in ET clinics).

This clinic is very exciting and unique for several reasons:

Exciting:

If my videos have helped you improve just imagine what a full weekend in person with me could do for your game.

ET clinics always attract passionate tennis players that are driven to improve: an amazing learning environment.

Over 10 hours of instructional time spent with me.

Unique:

The entire weekend will be captured in HD video. Revisit every lesson, drill and example for the rest of your tennis career!

Every student will receive full access to my next online course: “Singles Domination”.

Receive the benefits of in person instruction AND online instruction together!

The Singles Domination course will most likely be priced at several hundred dollars (at least) but you’ll receive it absolutely free for participating in this weekend clinic.

The details:

Dates: June 9th and 10th (with a social gathering the evening of June 8th)

Place: Milwaukee, WI

Price: $397 (full Singles Domination course included)

Not included in the price is any travel and accommodations necessary. Think you live too far away? The last clinic I held brought an attendee from England (yes the UK)! She told me it was worth every penny to make the trip and I’m extremely confident it will be for you too.

Important: There are only 16 spots available for this clinic. Once I’ve reached that number registration will be closed.

Update: Sold Out!

While serve and volley has become more and more difficult to execute on the pro tour it is still absolutely a viable strategy for recreational level tennis players! How can you be successful implementing it? This three part series will show you.

In today’s video you’re going to learn the top 5 most important technique elements to being successful with your first volley after the serve (typically called a “transition volley”).

What elements will we be studying in Zimonjic’s technique?

Step out onto the outside foot

Unit-turn preparation

Slightly open face at contact

Soft hands at contact, not tight

Weight transfer through contact

This is a lot to go over in just one video but all of the above areas are SO important to your success as you move forward towards the net.

I truly hope that you’ve enjoyed this video series! If you have any comments or questions at all please leave them below.

While serve and volley has become more and more difficult to execute on the pro tour it is still absolutely a viable strategy for recreational level tennis players! How can you be successful implementing it? This three part series will show you.

In today’s video you’re going to learn what could possibly be THE most important part of being successful at serve and volley: balancing yourself with a split step on the way up to the net.

Important: do NOT pick a place on the court to split step at as you serve and volley! I explain why and also discuss proper execution of the split step in the video below.

Question: what do you think I’ll be covering in video 3 of this series? Most of you got today’s topic correct in your guess (awesome job!) but the third and final topic will be much more tricky to get right. Let me know what you think below along with any other comments or questions.

Click the link above to check out my completely free series of videos about being successful at the split step. It’s extremely detailed and in depth!

While serve and volley has become more and more difficult to execute on the pro tour it is still absolutely a viable strategy for recreational level tennis players! How can you be successful implementing it? This three part series will show you.

In today’s video you will learn how to get your body moving forwards aggressively while still under control so that your transition towards the net can begin as effectively as possible.

It all starts with a good contact point. Not too far in front, but definitely not back over the baseline either.

Good news: you do NOT need a huge, aggressive push up towards the ball that sends you soaring up into the air in order to do this effectively!

Question: What do you think will be the next big key to success for serve and volley? Leave your answer along with any other comments and questions below!

Just having a bit of fun today to show you something I happened to capture during a practice session between Andy Murray and David Ferrer.

While engaging in a rally back and forth Andy Murray hits a shot that clips the tape, jumps up in the air, and then knocks a UFO out of the air and onto the court?

What was it? A cicata! What the heck is a cicata? A huge flying insect that shows up around summer time.

Somehow Ferrer is able to maintain focus and keep the rally going. Kudos to him!

Do you have a funny story about a tennis ball hitting something that it wasn’t supposed to? Tell me about it in the comments below.

My goal within these three videos is to either get you started using short court for the first time or, if you’re using it already, help you make the absolute best use of your time.

This video is going to cover three very important topics that have a huge impact on your short court success:

1. Footwork. The whole point of short court is to warm up effectively so please, please use your feet correctly. This includes using a split step every time your partner hits the ball, taking little steps between each shot, and setting yourself up for every forehand and backhand as you would on the baseline.

2. Technique. This is a tough one for most recreational tennis players. You should ideally be using full groundstroke technique on both your forehand and backhand side. How can you keep the ball inside the service boxes? Control the speed and rhythm of your swing.

3. Have a goal. This is huge! Don’t just aimlessly hit the ball back and forth, have some kind of goal that you’re shooting for with your partner.

Question: When you’ve used short court up until this point have you used full groundstroke technique? Let me know in the comments below!

This video is going to cover two very important topics that have a huge impact on your short court success:

1. Positioning. A lot of tennis players think that short court rallies should be performed while actually standing on the service line. Not so!

2. Target. Once you’re positioned in the right spot where should you be aiming exactly?

Question: When you’ve used short court up until now where have you positioned yourself? Let me know in the comments below!

My goal within these three videos is to either get you started using short court for the first time or, if you’re using it already, help you make the absolute best use of your time.

In this video I’m going to address a very, very common misconception about short court: that it’s just for low level or beginner type players. That is NOT true and I’ll tell you why.

Then I’m going to present a video of a top level professional player using short court to warm up while I talk about the big benefits to actually using short court as part of your routine.

Question: Do you already use short court? Tell me in the comments below!
