Kingfisher can be found all over the world and Puget Sound is no exception with it’s abounded Belted Kingfisher (Megaceryle alcyon) found along all of it’s shorelines.

Theresa was lucky enough to capture this image without a long-lens as they rarely allow you to approach close. Usually you’ll find them perched on a branch over the water patiently waiting for the unlucky fish to swim underneath. Occasionally you might see them hovering, much like a humming bird, before diving for the kill.

One afternoon we were enjoying the sights, smells, and sounds of the French Quarter. Making our way around Jackson Square we came across this Mime using a frame as a prop to her show. It’s pointless for me to try and describe the show, I just couldn’t do it justice, but I hope the photo at least conveys some of her unique talent that she brings to an old art form.

On this trip, Theresa and I grabbed our Golden for a purely relaxing weekend with nothing on the agenda but to follow whatever the moment brought. While walking down our beach, Theresa and Casio got distracted by the minnow in the creek. It was hilarious to see Casio jump so nervously as the small fry swam by her paws.

One of my favorite camping areas is a small county park near Salt Creek on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Been going there for years and there tire of it. If you search through the article published here you’ll come across many references to the place.

I haven’t been on the water as much as I might like; seems I’ve got a few too many brands in the fire so I was determined to get on the water. Theresa felt the same so we loaded our boats and headed to the water last Saturday. We needed a change of scenery so we elected to head down to Boston Harbor and paddle out of there.

No getting around the fact that the cold was bone chilling and handling the camera in these conditions was a bit of an issue. By the time I had taken my hands out of the pogies, popped the skirt, unzipped the dry-bag, and extracted the camera my fingers where already well on their way to becoming numb. Losing the camera overboard was a real worry.
