In addition to Bolt, the participants of the programme include Pony.ai, a China-based mobility platform, and Stellantis, one of the world’s largest car manufacturers.

The programme will focus on validating the safety, performance and regulatory readiness of Pony.ai’s autonomous vehicles in the Luxembourg traffic environment, supported by the country’s approach to autonomous mobility testing.

“The pilot is designed to test the technologies and operational processes required to support safe autonomous mobility in cities, from vehicle deployment and ride-hailing platform integration to fleet operations and regulatory coordination,” the companies added.

Eneli Kindsiko, an expert at the Foresight Centre, a think tank at the Estonian parliament that commissioned the report, said youth had become an increasingly prolonged and uncertain stage of life.

“In the context of an ageing and shrinking population, we are relying more and more on younger generations, but their actual independence is increasingly delayed, depending on their mental resilience, length of education, entry into the labour market and the cost of living,” Kindsiko said.

Estonians are often stereotyped as cold, hard to reach and unapproachable. Supposedly, we don’t speak, don’t make eye contact or do any of the other things that might suggest we feel comfortable around strangers. Yet for many Estonians, the reality is quite the opposite – and many international residents find that, over time, these stereotypes are either debunked or at least confined to the public sphere.

The coldness usually melts away within a few minutes of the first introduction.

In the summer of 1940, the Soviet Union occupied Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as a result of the infamous Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact signed between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union on 23 August 1939. As a result of the Second World War, Estonia lost about 17.5% of its population.

The Soviet occupation ushered in an event previously known only from the pages of history books – an event that became one of the most harrowing memories of the past centuries: the mass deportations, which affected people of all nationalities living in Estonia.

As a Canadian, I have the option of living in approximately 1.3 million modern apartments in my hometown, Toronto. So, when I moved to Tallinn in January to be closer to family, I hoped to find a unique form of Estonian housing.
Client assets held by the service providers fell by 42% over the year, affected by companies ceasing operations, falling crypto asset prices and asset sales.
Ülo Kaasik, the governor of the Bank of Estonia, said the IMF’s assessment largely matches the central bank’s own position.

“The state of public finances unfortunately means that Estonia needs to take a longer view and find solutions that last beyond one electoral cycle.
In a randomised controlled trial involving 30 patients with diabetic foot ulcers, the company’s dressing reduced wound area by 43% after just one week of treatment, compared with 13% for standard silver dressings.
In Estonia, where ancient forests give way to bogs, meadows and small farms, beekeeping has long been part of rural life. The country’s northern climate is not an easy one for bees: the winters are long, the summers brief and the main nectar season passes quickly. Yet Estonia is home to thousands of beekeepers, from countryside hobbyists tending a few hives to professional apiaries managing colonies on a commercial scale.

At the centre of this world is a practice of growing importance: queen bee rearing – mesilasemade kasvatamine.

While Tallinn gets most of the attention, the country’s beauty is dispersed across the map – from island towns to hilltop ruins, fortress silhouettes to pastel-painted promenades. Here are Estonia’s ten most beautiful towns – and two honourable mentions – where built heritage, landscape and cultural character combine with quiet confidence.

It is by no means the best possible ranking, but it could be worse: the index covers 147 countries, so Estonia is in the upper third, albeit only just.

The ranking is based on a single life-evaluation question: “Please imagine a ladder with steps numbered from 0 at the bottom to 10 at the top. The top of the ladder represents the best possible life for you, while the bottom represents the worst possible life for you.

The Estonian flag has its origins in the national movement – on 4 June 1884, the Estonian Students’ Association adopted blue, black and white as the colours of its student fraternity. The flag officially became the Estonian national flag in 1918. Since then, the tricolour has become one of the most important symbols of the independence, consciousness and solidarity of the Estonian people.

The birth of the Estonian tricolour is connected with the Estonian awakening – the national flag is the same age as the political history of its people.
