Bye bye 2011, Welcome 2012!

I can't believe how fast this year went by. We already started the new year and I'm very excited about it. Every time a year finishes is a good moment to look back at the year and learn from your mistakes, remember the good things and forget about the bad or sad events. 2011 was by far the best year because we welcomed our little Zaide to our family. This happy baby (she literally smiles almost all day) has brought so much joy to our home. I also had the luck that my mom arrived just in time for her birth and my dad and family in law came shortly after and spent some wonderful days with us.

Business wise I can't complain. I surpassed the 500 sales in one of my jewelry shops and 200 in the cufflinks shop, plus all the local, website and Facebook sales, so basically there are more than 1,000 people who wear an Estylo Jewelry item all over the world. I also have over 1,000 admirers of my shop and more than 2,300 Facebook Fans. Wow, I can't even believe how good this year was. A huge thanks to all my loyal return customers that support my business day after day. These are my best seller crystal jewelry pieces.

There are also more than 200 brides that chose my jewelry for their special day. It's so flattering every time I get a bridal order, just to know that they had so many options but decided to wear one of my creations for their wedding. Some weddings were just filled of my jewelry, since they ordered for the bride, mother, mother in law, bridesmaids and flower girls. And of course don't forget about the groom and the best men, they had their custom cufflinks as well. Thank you so much!

But now lets look forward, what's awaiting for Estylo Jewelry in 2012? Lots of new designs for sure! Given that I have so many personalized requests I decided to expand my business offering personalized hand stamped jewelry. Currently it's only available for Facebook Fans, but I will be adding them slowly to my shops.

As for men, I had to stop custom orders for cufflinks because of my pregnancy and now the birth of my daughter, since the process with the resin is toxic. Well, the good news is that after researching other alternatives and trying a few different out I found a great substitution and will start offering them in my shop around mid January. See for yourself how great they look!

Ok everyone, I looked back and discovered so many great things that happened this year and now I welcome 2012 and hope it will be even better. Thank you to everyone who supported me during 2011 and I wish all of you a Happy New Year!!!

After exactly three months I'm finally back. I must say that I did miss to write and work on my jewelry, but I also enjoyed every second I had with my daughter and the family who came to visit. Today is actually my daughter's first day at the day care. I'm so nervous! Can't wait to pick her up and see what the daycare lady's comments are.

Anyways, to celebrate that I'm back in the jewelry business I'm having a Sale until Black Friday! That's right it started today and will last for a whole week! All my shop has 10% OFF and for my Facebook Fans Only they will get Free Shipping as well. Don't wait till last minute, if you like something grab it now since I won't be renewing all the listings once the have sold.

So, what's new at Estylo Jewelry? A lot of designs. I've been able to list already a few ones, but still in process of adding more. It will take me a while to add them all since now I'm a mom as well, so make sure to check back regularly to see the new designs I add. As for the Cufflinks I won't be accepting custom order for a few months. The process of making them is toxic and I don't want my baby to get exposed to that. The Man Cave

Since we found out that we were having a baby many things have changed at home and as part of it we decided to also move some furniture out of the house and into the garage, since we actually never use it, except as storage. So, after some furniture moving my husband decided that it was time to get all his music stuff out of his office and into the garage as well, so that he could play the guitar there, or listen to music without having the "noise" in the house. And that's how we converted the garage into his cool Man Cave. All his records, guitars and other music equipment are in the garage now, together with some nice sofas and even a breakfast table for when he invites some friends. I would share some pictures with you, but he's not a big fan of being on my blog, so you will have to use your imagination. It looks great by the way.

Anyways, I got him a little gift and bought this awesome sign that says "Sure I can multi-task... I can drink beer, fart and listen to music" I just love it!!! It was a surprise for him and he immediately put it on the wall. This is the sign I got (just asked the seller to modify the wording a little bit) plus below are other cool things I found for a Man Cave.

Flower Headband or Clip DIY Tutorial

As I had mentioned to my Facebook Fans I recently learned how to do these gorgeous Flower Hair Accessories and just got addicted to it. The are great for Newborns, Brides, Bridesmaids, or just the every day outfit! I made a bunch for me and my little baby that will be born in a few weeks, but I just made way too many, so I decided to 1. Show you how to make yours and 2. Have a fun giveaway with some of the flowers I already finished, plus jewelry and cufflinks:

I'll start with the tutorial and will write about the Giveaway in another post, since it's not only the flowers that I'm giving away, but also some of my jewelry pieces and cufflinks in celebration of getting to 2,000 Facebook Fans! Yayyy!!! So make sure to check out the Giveaway post here.

Back to the Flower Accessories. This is how your finished Flower will look like:

In the tutorial I will show you how to attach the flowers to an elastic headband, but you can attach them also to Bobby Pins, Hair Clips, Belts, etc. Just use your imagination and the options are endless. They are also great for all ages and occasions. So here is what you will need:
- Scissors
- Fabric Flowers
- Heat Gun
- Felt
- Rhinestone or Button if you want to decorate the center
- Headband, Pin, Clip, or whatever you want to attach it to

You can get all of these items at a regular Craft Store, like Michael's or Jo-Anns. They also a have a large selection of flowers and normally will have a few on discount. Another option is to go to the Dollar Store, however the selection is probably a little smaller. Start by cutting two small circles from the felt. They should be the same size, but don't need to be exact. Set them aside.

Next cut the elastic for your headband. You can buy the headbands ready or you can make your own. I opted to get the elastic since I wanted to make the headbands in different sizes, for me and my girl. The suggested sizes are as follow:
Newborn - 13"
3 Mo to 6 Mo - 14"
6 Mo to 12 Mo - 16"
12 Mo to Teen - 17.5"
Adult - 18"
Those are the finished sizes, so if you are making your own headband you will want to cut your elastic a little more than that. Once you cut your elastic you need to sew them together. Don't worry on how it looks since it will be covered by the felt. Just make sure it's sewn correctly so it won't rip.

Set the headband aside and connect your heat gun so it starts warming up, then continue onto the flowers. Take one flower completely apart, depending on how filled you want them you can use more than one. I like them with a lot of petals so I usually use at least two flowers. If you plan to use a rhinestone or button in the center you can throw away everything except for the petals. Or you can leave aside the center of the flower and re-use on yours.

Now that you have the petals only arrange them in the way you want to have them. You can mix different flowers, colors or just put them together as they were originally. I like to separate them by size first and then start to put them together until it looks like I want them. Once you've arranged them turn them around to have the largest petals on the top and the smallest on the bottom. Take your first petal (largest) and add some of the glue with heat gun on it. Now take the next petal and press firmly over the first one. Keep doing that with the rest of your petals until you're finished.

Now it's the time to embellish your flower. You can use rhinestones, pearls, buttons or the original center of the flower. You can get a mixed package of colors and sizes of rhinestone in the bead section of your craft store or you can use the self-adhesive ones from the scrapbooking area. Just apply the glue with the heat gun onto the center of the flower and press your embellishment on it. If you don't want to add anything, just leave it as is and it will look nice anyway.

You've finished your flower now and are almost ready. Take on of the felt circles and apply glue all over it. Also apply some glue on the back of your flower (the largest petal) and press both of them together. This is to hide any imperfection that might be on it. Now take your headband and apply glue on the part that is going to be glued onto the felt, make sure you are hiding the sewed part. Press it onto the flower and then apply glue on the inner side of the headband and of the two felt pieces. Glue them together and let dry.

That's it! You have finished your Flower Headband! So easy, right? And it will take you only a few minutes to make them. You can make it as fancy or as simple as you want and I love that it's great for any age and any occasion. Remember that I do not sell these flowers in my shop, just made them for fun and will be giving a few away (together with jewelry and cufflinks) on my 2,000 Facebook Fan celebration here!

Red, White and Blue

I can't believe we're almost in July, half of 2011 has already passed. Wow, that was fast. And also as time passes by I get closer to my due date. Only two more months and my baby girl will be with us. We still have a lot of things to do, but the days are just too short to finish everything! Good thing is that we have a long weekend and we'll be having a BBQ on 4th of July while we finish cleaning up the garage.

Speaking of 4th of July, look at this great Summer Berry Trifle recipe I found in Red, White and Blue:

Ingredients

· 1 package (3.4-ounce) instant vanilla pudding

· 4 cups fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries), washed and hulled, plus extra for garnish

· 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar

· 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

· 1 cup whipping cream

· 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

· 24 to 36 ladyfingers

Instructions

1. To make the fillings, prepare the pudding according to the package directions and chill it.

2. Slice the strawberries, if you're using them, then toss all of the berries with the lemon juice and the 1/4 cup of sugar. Set aside for 30 minutes to allow the berries to release their juices.

3. In a medium mixing bowl, whip the cream, vanilla extract, and remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar until soft peaks form. Set aside.

4. To make the layers, set a layer of ladyfingers (around 7 or 8) on the bottom of a large, clear serving bowl (ours was 4 quarts). Top with the berries with half of the pudding.

5. Add another layer of ladyfingers, another third of the berries and juice, and the rest of the pudding. Add a final layer of ladyfingers and berries. Top with the whipped cream and a berry garnish.

6. Refrigerate until you're ready to serve. Serves 8 to 10.

Romantic Pearls - June Birthstone

Who doesn't love Pearls? They are very classic and romantic and go just with everything. At least that's my opinion. So for June, the Birthstone is the Pearl. I'm not going to talk about all the history and those kind of things, since you can find that on the Wikipedia and plenty of other sites, but what I did like the most is that the Greek believed that pearls were the hardened tears of joy that the goddess of love shook from her eyes as she was born from the sea. Sounds cool right?

Well nowadays there are a lot of different uses for the pearls, not only jewelry and they can be as cheap or as expensive as you want. There are plenty of faux pearls in different colors, which are very affordable, or you can get some unique natural ones for hundreds of dollars. Here are some of my findings of handmade items that incorporate pearls:

Bridal Earrings Tutorial - Pearl in a Silver Cage DIY

It's time for another Tutorial! But before I show you how to do those cute wire cages and then convert them into the Bridal Earrings you can see below I want to remind you that the Father's Day Giveaway is still going on! Ok, now to the Tutorial. What I'm going to show you is not only to assemble these beautiful pearl and crystal earrings but also how to make your own Wire Cages. Of course you could just go to a store and probably buy them there, but it's a lot more fun if you make them yourself. Also keep in mind that once you learn how to do them you can make different sizes, colors/metal, textures, etc.

Finished Pearl in a Cage Bridal Earrings

What you need:
- 22 Gauge Sterling Silver (or other metal if you want) Wire. Around 18 inches should be enough.
- 2 Ivory Pearls size 8mm.
- 2 Round Swarovski Crystals in color Clear AB size 6mm.
- 1 Pair of fancy Sterling Silver Ear Post or the ear wire of your choice.
- Round Nose Pliers.
- Flush Cutters.
- Flat Nosed Pliers.

You should be able to get all of those (except the exact ear posts) at any supply store. For regular ear wires you wont have any problem finding them at the supply store as well. For more fancy ones I recommend you order them online or go to a specialized bead store.

Tools and Material Needed for the Earrings

Once you have all your material and tools together take your wire and measure approx. 7 1/2 inches of it and cut it with your flush cutters. Then do the same one more time. That's the wire you will be using for your cages. Take one piece of the cut wire and with your round nose pliers make a simple loop. To do that place the pliers at the end of the wire and start rolling in. Make a complete circle.

Now switch pliers and grab the flat nosed pliers. Place them on the circle that you just made and start rolling it, forming a larger circle around it, like shown in the picture below. You don't have to do it as tight as I made it, but I like having the beads with lots of wire around. Continue doing it until you get half way through the wire.

Once you get to the middle of the wire do exactly the same with the other end of the wire until both circles meet. See picture below. Now take one of the circles and turn it to the other side forming an "S" shape as you can see in the picture and place your bead on top of it. Make sure that your circles are big enough to cover the pearl.

Now start covering the pearl with the wire. Try to stretch them a little apart. Remember that they don't need to be perfect. Just keep stretching with your fingers and don't worry, it won't deform, the wire is pretty sturdy. You can use your pliers if you feel you need it, but I prefer to do it with the fingers and have more control on how separate I want the wire. Once you've covered the pearl and are happy with how it looks take your pliers and pull up the first loop you had made on each sides of the wire. Those will be the hooks to attach to the ear posts and crystals.

You have now completed the most important part of the earrings. You could actually stop here and just hang those pearl cages to the ear post and they would look nice. But I really like the sparkle of the crystals, so I decided to add them at the bottom. Take the remainder of your wire and slide one of the crystals onto it. Make a tiny simple loop at the end of the wire. Remember how we did the simple loop, right? At the other side of the wire you will cut it off with your flush cutters, leaving a bit of wire showing out of the crystal. Now make a simple loop there as well.

Remember that the second loop should be larger than the first one, since this is the one who will serve as hook to be attached on the wire cage. Now do the same with your remaining wire and the other swarovski crystal. Once finished grab your crystal and open the larger loop, attach it to the silver cage and close the loop again.

You now have the bottom part of your earrings. Grab the unattached side of the cage and open up the loop. Attach it to your ear post and close the loop again. Do exactly the same with the other cage and ear post. That's it! You have completed a gorgeous pair of earrings! Now that you've learned how to do the cages you can let flow your imagination and do different things, like the wine charms in the picture below. Or maybe make a matching necklace? These earrings also make a great gift for your bridesmaids and you can play with the colors you chose for your wedding.

Remember that it can take some time and practice until you get even cages, but just keep trying and I'm sure they will look gorgeous. My Baby Shower

Last Saturday was my Baby Shower. My friends prepared it for me and I had a great time! The decoration was absolutely gorgeous! The theme was Butterflies and all was decorated with Pink. I actually found it curious that they picked the butterflies, since we want to decorate the baby's room also with a butterfly theme. The food was also delicious, but the best was the company!

I don't like all those baby shower games, so my friends were nice enough to not prepare any activity except for when I opened the presents, which by the way were all great and very helpful for us. Overall I enjoyed the shower a lot and I was happy to see how many good friends I have. Here are a few pictures, just look how gorgeous they decorated everything.

Didn't everything look great? I just really enjoyed it very much and I'm so thankful for having such great friends :)

Summer Drinks + Sparkling Mint Lemonade Recipe

How is everyone enjoying their long weekend? It's been a very nice day here in the SF Bay Area. It's still somewhat cold, but with lots of sun today. Makes you want to have a Margherita or some other tropical drink, but since I can't have alcohol for three more months I had to come up with something different. It's a Mojito style drink but without alcohol. Very refreshing. I'll share the recipe at the end of the post. For now look at this mouth watering Summer drinks that I've found:

They all look good, don't they? I think they look great (and sure they taste better) for a summer wedding or party. So now onto the Sparkling Mint Lemonade recipe. You will need:

- 2 Limes

- Sugar or sugar substitute

- Sparkling Water

- Fresh Mint

First pour sugar onto a plate. Cut one lime and pass it over your glass, now take the glass and put into the sugar in the plate. This is only to garnish your glass. Squeeze the lime into the glass, add sugar as desired and a few fresh mint leaves. I get mine from our garden, so they area always fresh! Smash the mint a little bit and then add ice and sparkling water. You're ready, now enjoy!

Handmade Beach Wedding Favors

As you might have noticed I just love the summer, heat, sun and beach. But since I don't live in such place I can just dream on about it and will keep for a while dedicating my posts to the summer, which hopefully will come soon to the SF Bay area as well.

The other day I was looking for some cool baby shower favors, since my baby shower is in two weeks. I thought about doing some cute necklaces for the guests or maybe sugar scrub in a nice personalized jar. Anyways, I didn't do any since my awesome friends who are organizing my baby shower already took care of the favors. But still, while I was looking for favor ideas I thought the sugar scrub would make a perfect gift for bridal showers. Here is how it will look like when finished.

Easy DIY Sugar Scrub for Wedding Favors

Very easy to make and you can find the ingredients locally at your supermarket and craft stores. You will need:
- 1 cup of Turbinado Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Essential Oil or Fragrance of your choice (for summer maybe something fresh Ocean Breeze related or Coconut)
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Almond Oil or any other of your preference
- 2 caps of Vitamin E
- Small Glass Jar
- Ribbon
- Charm, Tags or Cardstock

Ingredients for the Sugar Scrub

Mix the Almond Oil with the Vitamin E and the Essential oil in a cup and add it to the Sugar in a larger bowl. Mix well and then add more of any of the ingredients if needed. I don't like too strong fragrances, so I chose to use half teaspoon, but you can add more. Once you have mixed everything well pour it into the glass jar. You can get small favor glass jars at Michaels or Jo-Ann. If you want larger jars you can find them in the supermarket. Another option is to get personalized jars online. Since it was for my personal use I just re-used a jar that I had at home. Now, for the decoration you can just do whatever your imagination tells you. I used a ribbon that I had at home and since I wanted it with a Beach look I just added a seashell charm, but you can personalize your tags or make your own with cardstock. Just let your creativity guide you!

Personalized Favor Jar Ideas

What do you think? Look nice, right? Very easy to make, it will only take you a few minutes and it looks great! Please note that I'm not an expert in this, so you might consult with your dermatologist if you have very sensitive skin.

Beach Wedding Ideas

Lately I've noticed that I'm getting more and more Beach Jewelry requests from my customers. As the summer gets closer brides are preparing for their big day and looking for beach themed items. For me here in the SF Bay Area I really don't feel the summer being close since it's still cold and rainy, but I know that other places are already filled with sun and warm weather.

So I made a quick search and found tons of info for beach weddings. I personally love weddings outdoors and especially on the beach. The only part that I don't love is that sometimes it can be really hot, so make sure you have big umbrellas or tents so that the guests are not all the time exposed to the sun. A good way to refresh your guests is offering them frozen Margarita drinks or similar. I normally love strawberry daiquiris or tamarind margaritas...yummy!

And for the brides that like some DIY items I found this great lanterns. You can buy the wire hooks online on Etsy and then re-use or buy the glass jars. Just place tea candles into the jar and the attach the wire holders. That's it! Very easy to make and it looks great!

Make Your Own Bridesmaid Flower Jewelry Set - Tutorial Part II

Last week I posted Part I of the Bridesmaid Jewelry Tutorial. I hope you had enough time to get your supplies and start gluing the flowers. Remember that the flowers need to dry at least 24 hours in order to set well. Also be careful when handling the E6000 glue since it has a very strong smell and can be toxic. So make sure you always work on a well ventilated area and read the instructions on the tube before opening.

So lets continue working on this beautiful set. We'll be making this Necklace now:

Finished Pearl and Flower Necklace

Take one Glass Pearl and slide it onto an Eye pin. Next we’ll do a simple loop into the remainder of the pin. Grab the eye pin and with the other hand use the round nose pliers. Place the pliers at the top of the pin; make sure you don’t use the biggest part of the pliers, since it will make your loop too big. Now begin rolling the wire towards the beads until the end of the wire meets the other end of the loop. If you didn’t calculate right you can cut the excess of the wire end keep rolling in, or re-try doing the loop.

Make a simple loop on an eye pin

Now do the same with the remaining pearls and pins. Once you have the pearls on the eye pins attach one to the other and close the loops except for the two in the outside. Next cut the chain into equal parts and slide one chain on every side of the pearls and close the loops.

Link the pearls together

We’re almost finished, just a last step. Take the 4mm jump ring and open following the instructions above slide one side of the chain on it and then close it. Take the spring ring and open the attached jump ring and slide the other side of the chain on it and then close. Don't forget to finally add the large Rose Pendant in the middle of the Pearls. Now your Necklace is ready! Doesn’t it look beautiful?

Finished Bridesmaid Necklace

I normally recommend 18 inch necklaces in case you don't know what size to make it. It's the most standard used, but for skinnier smaller persons you can go with 16 inch or for bigger persons 20 or 22 inches. You can also add a small extender just to make sure. You can get them at any craft store or online.

You have finished a complete set for your bridesmaids. You can choose to just make the Necklace and Ring, or the Bobby Pins and Necklace or any combination you want, or make the complete set. Your bridesmaids will be impressed with your skills.

Make Your Own Bridesmaid Flower Jewelry Set - Tutorial Part I

I've been wanting to post this tutorial for a while now, but I just can't find enough time to do everything I plan to. But as I promised last week, here it is. I've split it into 2 parts so that you have time to get the materials and know the basics before you finish your jewelry. This is a very romantic jewelry set and has like vintage look.

Here goes Part I.

This Bridesmaid Jewelry Tutorial is perfect for the Bride who wants to do something special for her bridesmaids and now is the right timing since these flower sets are great for Spring/Summer. It is very easy to follow and you won’t need any prior jewelry making experience. If your planning to do only one or a few sets it will probably not be cost effective, but at least you can customize it and feel that you are crafting your own jewelry.

Finished Flower Jewelry Set by Estylo Jewelry

Here is the list of materials you will need for the full set of Earrings, Necklace, Ring and Bobby Pins. You might not find the Resin Flowers in a regular bead store, so I recommend that you buy them online. You can also contact me if you have trouble finding the materials. This list is if you want the whole set, but you can choose to make only part of it.

Material:

- 1 Resin Chrysanthemum Flower 32mm in Ivory Color for the Ring

- 1 Silver Filigree Adjustable Ring with pad

- 2 Resin Chrysanthemum Flowers 15mm in Ivory Color for the Earrings

- 2 Silver Ear Studs with Pad

- 1 Chrysanthemum Flowers 15mm in Ivory Color for the Filigree Bobby Pin

- 1 Silver Bobby Pin with Filigree Pad

- 2 Resin Rose Flowers 10mm in Ivory Color for the Bobby Pins

- 2 Silver Bobby Pins with Pad

- 1 Resin Rose Flower 43 x 35mm in Ivory color for the Necklace

- 1 Silver filigree pad 15mm for the Necklace

- 6 Ivory Glass Pearls 8mm for the Necklace

- 6 Silver Eye Pins ¾ or 1 inch for the Necklace

- 1 Silver Spring Clasp for the Necklace

- 1 Silver Jump Ring 7mm for the Necklace

- 1 Silver Jump Ring 4mm for the Necklace

- 1 Silver Chain size of your choice

- 1 Nose Pliers

- 1 Square of Sand paper

1 Glue E-6000

List of Materials needed

First we will start gluing all the flowers to their respective settings, since they have to dry at least 24 hours to be safe to handle. You might want to do this the day before or just do everything the same day and finish assembling the necklace the next day. Before you start gluing, take the sandpaper square and file the settings and the back of the flowers a little bit. That’s to leave them more even since some can have little bumps, it also allows the glue to hold better. Once you have filed them take a toothpick and get a small amount of the glue and apply on a Bobby Pin pad as shown in the picture.

Take one rose flower and apply the glue as well, wait about two minutes and then press it on the Bobby pin. Make sure you have centered it correctly. You will have some minutes to move it a little around until it’s on the desired position. Then do the same with all the rest of the flowers and attach to their respective settings except for the Large Rose flower for the Necklace.

Now take the Large Flower for the Necklace and apply the glue on the Filigree. When you set the Rose make sure that you attach it on the upper part of the flower, so that the little ring can be seen from under the Rose. This is to attach a jump ring and then attach to the necklace.

Now let everything dry for at least 24 hours. When it’s dry take the 7mm Jump ring and open it, to do that push one end forward and the other in the opposite direction. Never open it by pushing it to the sides. Attach the jump ring to the large Rose Pendant. You could now close it and hang on the chain as a simple necklace, which looks very beautiful by the way. But I want to complicate it a little more. However I will leave the rest of the tutorial for the next week, since I'm going to give you the time to get your supplies and start gluing all the flowers.

In the next part of the tutorial I will explain you how to link the pearls together and make a necklace from unfinished chain. It's really not that complicate as it looks like, but you will probably have to practice a little bit to make the loops a similar size. (Go to Tutorial Part II)

Spring Green

We've been into Spring for one month now, but it definitely isn't as warm as I was hoping. However it's nice to see green everywhere and flowers starting to bloom. Our garden is getting nicer every day, except for my vegetables. After growing my vegetables inside for a couple weeks, I decided it was time to plant them outside. Big mistake! In just one morning the birds ate all my plants! So now I'll have to start all over again, but this time I have to prepare beforehand so that the birds don't eat them again.

I'm so excited that we now know that we're having a baby Girl! So we're probably start buying a few things for her. We still haven't decided on the name, but we're working on that, so hopefully we'll decide soon :)

I'm back!

Ok, it's been like 2 months since I had posted something on my blog. Time really flies....but now I'm back and hopefully this time I can post regularly again. So what's new in my life? Well, we're settled in the new place, it's very close to my office so it's great since I can sleep in a little longer and also have lunch at home with Alberto and Pancho. The pregnancy is going very good, I'm at 19 weeks now and the belly has started to show. It has been growing very fast in the last days. Pancho had his re-check about a week ago and his results came back fabulous! We were able to take him off of 4 pills and maybe after his next tests we can reduce it even more :)

Regarding my shops, they're still growing. I've been busy posting new items in my jewelry shop and am in the process of adding some Mother's day necklaces and bracelet. Once I finish with that I will update my cufflink shop with all the new designs I have. Alberto is now helping me with the resin, since I don't want to risk the baby to get close to toxic substances, so now he's my handsome helper. I took a few pictures but haven't convinced him yet to post them here.....

But enough about all that stuff and lets check how the handmade fashion is doing these days. It's Spring and everything is so colorful now! We had luck for a few days in the Bay Area with gorgeous weather, but it got a little colder again. At least the sun is still here and very little rain. There are so many Spring related items that I just wasn't able to pick a few and decided to post a bunch instead. Enjoy!!!

Preparing for the Move

Only three more days and we're moving to the other place. I really like where we live right now, but with the baby on the way we just need a bigger place. So, we have been packing for the last couple of weeks and are almost done with it. Of course I was not allowed to move anything heavy, so my husband has been taking care of most of the things. Anyways, the new place where we're moving is nice as well and it's just a few blocks from my office, so it will be very convenient. It also has a back yard where Pancho will be able to play and hopefully stop barking at other dogs. Speaking of yard I got some seeds from Bolivian hot peppers and decided to put them in a wet paper towel to see if they would germinate and they actually did!!! I'm so happy it's Friday!!! This week has been very exhausting. Lot of work at the office and then all the excitement of seeing for the first time my baby in the ultrasound, plus all the discomfort that comes with the pregnancy....I just need my Weekend! 2011 New Year's Resolutions

The new year has started and with it a long list with the resolutions. I normally don't make those lists but normally have a few things in mind. For this year I'm expecting a few changes that hopefully I can accomplish.

1. I definitely need to be more organized. What started as a hobby now converted into a part-time job and I need to define my work space. You can see beads and findings in various rooms of the house and I just need to put them all together into one space, by categories, colors, etc. This will take me a while but it's absolutely necessary.

2. I need to start doing some exercise. I know it's probably one of the most common resolutions for the new year, but I have been very lazy regarding exercising during the last year. So at least walk 3 times a week or use the Active on Wii, which by the way is a great exercise.

3. Time Management. That's something I need to improve urgently. Most of the time I feel like 24 hours a day is just not enough. Between my day job, jewelry making, marketing, family, etc. I just never finish! So many things to do and so little time. So I need to find the way to organize my time better.

Ok, I think that's already a lot of work for me and let's hope I really can make it :)
