I wouldn’t classify this as a big secret, but in retrospect the Lakers made a mistake when they brought in Mike D’Antoni. They should have either let Mike Brown ride out the season or brought back Phil Jackson. Any other alternatives were going to cause tension if the Lakers didn’t win immediately.
I don’t think D’Antoni did a bad job, considering all the injuries the Lakers had, but you just got the sense all the players weren’t on board with his system and style of coaching.

ESPN is reporting that Dwight Howard was the main star not happy with D’Antoni.

According to sources with knowledge of the situation, part of the discussion between Howard and Kupchak centered around Howard’s frustration with D’Antoni — particularly how the center felt marginalized as the coach looked to Bryant and Steve Nash for leadership and suggestions and discounted Howard’s voice.
D’Antoni chose not to retain assistant coach Chuck Person, a Howard confidant, on his staff for next season.
“We had to just sell out to whatever he wanted, whether we liked it or not,” Howard said of D’Antoni following his exit interview. “We had to do what was going to benefit the team, and being one of the leaders on the team, I had to make sure I kept the guys in line to what the coach wanted us to do.”

These are similar comments that Howard made about Stan Van Gundy before he got him fired and left Orlando. It doesn’t appear the Lakers are going to get rid of D’Antoni, so it will be interested to see if this affects Howard’s free agent decision.

Just like most things in life, this comes down to money. Does Howard want to leave $30 million on the table to run from the responsibility of being the next great center in LA? Only time will tell.

Sometimes when I watch Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, I find it to be more comedy than drama. Last night was one of those times. Between K. Michelle's sexual voodoo and Stevie J's facial expressions, I was thoroughly entertained.
Traci is going to meet with Drew to talk about their recent blow-up, and she calls them a "family." She reveals that she was so in love with Drew, but I don't think she needs to be using the past tense. Traci gives a little history on their past before dropping off Little Drew with the baby-sitter. Over lunch, she tells Drew that she deserves better than seeing him with different girls and groupies every night. He reminds her that they haven't been a couple in seven years, because she clearly thinks they are still together. When Drew straight-up says he just wants to discuss her investing in his sneaker boutique, she storms out of the restaurant, promising to give him her money once she's calmed down. Yeah, that sounds like a great idea!
Mimi Faust is on a date with her new boyfriend Nikko. She reveals that he's a blast from the past, and she hopes that he will understand that she comes with baggage…in the form of Stevie J. Nikko realizes that everyone has skeletons in their closet, but his aren't haunting him like Mimi's are. Mimi admits that Stevie has given her some major trust issues, and she's worried that Nikko is a music producer like her ex.
After their recent struggles, Erica Dixon is starting to doubt Lil' Scrappy's fidelity. Perhaps she shouldn't go through his cell phone. Sure, he's been texting with random ladies, but she had concerns before she knew that. Erica is trying to convince Scrappy that all of his outside dalliances are not okay, and he's waxing poetic about the meaning of love. Scrappy notices that she isn't wearing her engagement ring, and she decides the pair needs a break. Erica is rather proud of herself that finally she's getting to put on the breaks in their relationship instead of the other way around.

It's girls' night for Mimi, K. Michelle, and Ariane. Ariane is getting a manicure while K. Michelle is getting vajazzled. She can't decide whether she needs rhinestone lips or a dolphin clued to her kitty. Her friend think that K. Michelle is crazy when she admits to pouring a circle of salt around her bed pre-sex to ward off sex demons. She's proving to be a tad off her rocker this season, isn't she? Mimi dishes on her date, and she makes K. Michelle promise to be on her best behavior–aka, no weird sex talk–when she meets him.
Kirk Frost goes to Benzino to get some advice regarding Karlie Redd trying to get his wife to cut a diss record against K. Michelle. While he knows Rasheeda has no desire to work with Karlie in that capacity, Kirk is thinking of the potential money it could make. His brother needs financial help right now. He then asks his friend for some relationship insight. Benzino is exactly who I'd go to for help with my decade plus marriage…not!
Joseline Hernandez and Stevie J. are celebrating a brand new international deal while wearing plush robes, what else? She really wants Stevie to love her like she deserves to be loved, and he starts counting out some cash. Love and money are the same, right? He's a tad confused. Joseline wants the kind of romance where they are together regardless of their circumstances. She asks him point blank if he loves her and her responds, 'Do fat girls love cake?' He's so sweet.

Stevie is ready to give his all to Joseline until Chey Mac pops back into the picture. Much like Joseline, Chey would like to focus on her next hit song while all Stevie wants to do is check out her assets while making creepy rat faces towards her.
Over breakfast, Kirk tries to get his wife onboard with Karlie's diss record. Rasheeda would rather bring her online boutique into a physical location. It's so successful on the Internet, she can't imagine that it wouldn't rake in the dough in Atlanta. Kirk reminds her that with an actual store comes the added cost of rent, employees, and insurance (just to name a few), but if he's not going to be in "agreeance" (is that a real word?) with her than Rasheeda isn't going to entertain his ideas either.

Mimi's friends are going out on the town to meet her new man. While Erica doesn't want to steal the thunder on her friend's night, she knows the girls will notice her missing engagement ring. She decides to come out and tell them the news, although they aren't quick to pick up on her hand gestures. K. Michelle doesn't think that Erica needs to put up with any of Scrappy's shenanigans, and Mimi feels like her pal's news has put a slight damper on the evening. Luckily Nikko arrives and allows himself to be felt up by Ariane. The women want to make sure that Mimi isn't diving into a relationship with Stevie 2.0. Nikko toasts to Mimi's happiness and invites her friends to come watch him shoot a music video starring Mimi. He has totally won over Mimi's group.
Benzino is up to his neck (no, really!) in Karlie stories, and he's upset that his ex is trying to come between his friendship with Stevie. He goes to see her at the studio, and he confronts her about the rumor that they watched a naughty video of Joseline together. Karlie can't believe that Benzino is lying about not showing her the tape, and then they get into a fight about him video taping them having sex when they were together. Karlie starts throwing stuff at him, and he calmly asks her not to talk about him anymore because it's messing with his friendship with Stevie. I totally believe Karlie, especially when Benzino starts to stutter a little. He is so not telling the truth.
To rejoice in Joseline's amazing new contract, Stevie decides to throw a small party at a club. He's surprised to see a slimmer, more orthodonted (yes, I made up that word) Chey Mac working the bar. Joseline isn't going to be too keen on this situation. Chey is super drunk and yelling about how real she is. Knowing she'll probably have to work with Joseline, Chey tries to introduce herself to the Puerto Rican princess, but Joseline quickly shoot her down.

Rasheeda and Erica meet for coffee, and Rasheeda is worried that she's pregnant. Erica is shocked to learn that her friend is two months late, and Rasheeda admits that it isn't the best time in her marriage to have a another baby. She's nervous to tell Kirk, but Erica thinks it could be just what the pair needs to mend their issues. Before she shares her concerns with her husband, she goes to the doctor to get a definitive answer. Rasheeda is pregnant, and while she's stressed, she's also happy about the news.
Stevie has a sit-down with Karlie, and they are joined by Joseline. She is getting her drama on, and Karlie is confused as to why things were fine between them when they first talked about the Benzino situation. I have to admit, I'm confused as well. They joked and got coffee for goodness' sake! Now, Joseline thinks Karlie is her mortal enemy? I don't get it. Joseline starts lunging for Karlie and calling her old and raggedy. Production assistants are called upon to break up the mild (for this show's standards) altercation. Weak.
Next week, Rasheeda and Kirk butt heads about her pregnancy, and Momma Dee and Shay surprise Scrappy with an End of Engagement cake. He turns to his dad for advice. Stevie prods Mimi for details on her new relationship, and K. Michelle causes drama at Nikko's video shoot.

RAVEN'S RB RAY RICE'S BALTIMORE HOME BURGLARIZED FOR GUNS AND CASH

Police say the Maryland home of Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was burglarized over the weekend, and $2,000 and two guns were stolen.
Baltimore County police spokeswoman Cpl. Cathleen Batton said Monday that the burglary happened between 8:30 p.m. Friday and 12:50 a.m. Saturday at the home in Reisterstown.

Batton said Rice was out of town for the weekend, but a friend was staying at the home and reported the burglary to police.

"My family and I are fine, which is the most important thing," Rice said in a team-issued statement. "This is an unfortunate incident that I am dealing with through the proper channels.''

Batton said the burglar apparently forced his way in through a rear window and ransacked portions of the home. Batton said surveillance video shows the burglar.

Chief Keef was arrested in Atlanta yesterday (May 20). We're going to assume this wasn't a way of the rapper making his recent alignment with Gucci Mane's Brick Squad all the more official.
Media report release:

Chief Keef -- the 17-year-old rap sensation -- was arrested in DeKalb County, Georgia yesterday for disorderly conduct.
The details surrounding the arrest are unclear.
According to the booking sheet, Keef -- real name Keith Cozart -- was listed at 5'9" and 160 lbs.
After the arrest, Keef tweeted, "Jus Got Out Of Dekalb County jail In Atlanta Mad As f**k."
Keef is considered a prodigy -- and has rapped with huge stars like 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa.
Keef is no stranger to the law ... he's been arrested at least two times before -- and even has a gun conviction under his belt.
It's been a rough year for the rapper ... We broke the story, he was recently sued for child support by his middle-school-aged baby mama who claimed Keef fathered her kid -- born in 2011 -- when he was only 15.

Actually it hasn't been all that bad a year for the rapper. Besides connecting with Big Guwop, Sosa was recently living it up in Paris while he was in town to record with Kanye West. There is also the rumor that he is engaged to a model named Pretty Mesha. He may want to dial back on all that lean before he sees the judge, though.

A Boston Celtics player arrested over the weekend has been charged with pulling a gun on the mother of his son. According to Fox Sports on May 20, Terrence Williams allegedly pulled a gun on the woman during a visitation exchange.
Police booked Williams into jail early this morning as the police investigate the assault charges. The police say the woman called in the complaint and said Williams threatened her with a gun during a visitation exchange with their 10-year-old son.

No one was injured, and the police are not giving any other information at this time.
Williams grew up in Seattle and played college in Louisville. The 6-6 guard was the 11th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets. He then made his way to the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings over the next few years.

Williams just couldn't seem to catch on and ended up playing most of this last season in China. He finally signed a 10-day deal with the Boston Celtics in February.

Williams stuck it out with Boston for the remainder of the season. If Boston holds on to him until Oct. 31, his contract is guaranteed, but the fact the Celtics player was arrested, there is a chance he just lost that chance.

5 DEAD IN BOTCHED BANK ROBBERY IN SOUTHERN ISRAEL AS POLICE QUESTION MOTIVE

A gunman stormed into a bank in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba Monday, killing four people in a gunfight and taking a hostage before killing himself, police said.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the shootings happened inside the bank, which was cordoned off with a large number of police. Israeli TV footage showed several ambulances parked outside. Four other people were wounded, one of them seriously.

Police said they were investigating the incident and backed off from initial claims that it had been a bungled bank robbery.

"We are not convinced entirely at this point that we are talking about a robbery or an attempted robbery but it could be we are talking about an incident where from the start, the murderer came in with an intention to shoot," national police chief Yohanan Danino told reporters.

The man was identified as an Israeli in his 40s who lived in Beersheba.

The bank specialized in mortgages, and Rosenfeld said police were exploring whether the man had experienced financial difficulties or had any other personal dispute with bank workers. He said robbery also remained a possible motive.

Rosenfeld said a gunfight broke out and the robber took one hostage, but as a standoff developed, he killed himself. The hostage, who was lightly wounded, walked out of the bank, Rosenfeld added.

He said police looked into the possibility that there had been a second suspect, but ruled that out. He also said police believed all of the dead had been killed by the gunman.

SENATE FINDS APPLE AVOIDED PAYING BILLIONS IN TAXES BY SETTING UP TRICKY OFFSHORE COMPANIES

A new Senate investigation has found that Apple Inc. has used a complex web of offshore companies – particularly three in Ireland – to avoid paying billions of dollars in U.S. income taxes.
Apple executives will visit Capitol Hill on Tuesday to respond to the findings contained in a 40-page review by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

The company is not accused of breaking the law, but rather using loopholes in the American tax code.

“It’s like saying you haven’t shifted the golden eggs offshore after you transferred the golden goose offshore,” Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan, chairman of the committee, told reporters late today at the Capitol.

The Senate committee, which conducted similar investigations last fall of Microsoft and Hewlett Packard, accused Apple of shifting profits overseas by using a cost-sharing agreement to transfer intellectual property offshore.

The investigation found that Apple negotiated a tax rate of less than 2 percent with the government of Ireland – far lower than the normal rate of 12 percent. An Irish subsidiary of Apple, which was not registered as paying taxes anywhere, had sales totaling $74 billion from 2009 to 2012.

“Apple claims to be the largest U.S. corporate taxpayer, but by sheer size and scale, it is also among America’s largest tax avoiders,” Sen. John McCain said today. “A company that found remarkable success by harnessing American ingenuity and the opportunities afforded by the U.S. economy should not be shifting its profits overseas to avoid the payment of U.S. tax, purposefully depriving the American people of revenue.”

The findings of the investigation were set to be released at 7 p.m., but Apple sought to get ahead of the report by releasing its testimony today. In a 16-page response, Apple vigorously defended its business practices and described its company as “likely the largest corporate income tax payer” in the country — with $6 billion in 2012 alone.

“Apple does not use tax gimmicks,” the company said in a statement. “Apple does not move its intellectual property into offshore tax havens and use it to sell products back into the U.S. in order to avoid U.S. tax.”

37 PEOPLE KILLED IN MILE WIDE TORNADO THAT HIT OKLAHOMA CITY SUBURB

A monstrous tornado at least a mile wide roared through the Oklahoma City suburbs Monday, flattening entire neighborhoods with winds up to 200 mph, setting buildings on fire and landing a direct blow on an elementary school. At least 37 people were reported killed.
Two schools were in the path of the tornado, television reports said, and video showed homes destroyed, cars tossed and at least one building on fire.
37 were confirmed dead after the tornado, according to medical examiner's office, which struck near Moore, Oklahoma, in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, this midafternoon.
One elementary school took a direct hit, witnesses said. KWTV reports that all of the children are accounted for, and children have been pulled from the rubble alive, according to the AP.
"It seems that our worst fears have happened today," said Bill Bunting, National Weather Service meteorologist in Norman, Oklahoma.
Two people were killed on Sunday from tornadoes in Oklahoma and at least 39 were injured.
The National Weather Service predicted a 10 percent chance of tornadoes in parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois. It said parts of four other states - Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan and Iowa - have a 5 percent risk of tornadoes.
The area at greatest risk includes Joplin, Missouri, which on Wednesday will mark two years since a massive tornado killed 161 people.

The latest tornado in Oklahoma came as the state was still recovering from a strong storm on Sunday with fist-sized hail, blinding rain and tornadoes.
Two men in their 70s died in the storm, including one at a mobile home park on the edge of the community of Bethel Acres near Oklahoma City, said Keli Cain, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Office of Emergency Management. Thirty-nine people were injured around the state as storms toppled trees and tore up rooftops, she said.
Several hundred homes and buildings were thought to have been damaged or destroyed and approximately 7,000 customers were left without power in Oklahoma. "There is definitely quite a bit of damage," Cain said.
Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin declared 16 counties disaster areas.
More than two dozen tornadoes were spotted in Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas and Illinois, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and local news reports. Hail stones, some as large as baseballs, were reported from Georgia to Minnesota, NOAA said.
Wind gusts of 72 miles per hour (115 kilometers per hour) were reported near Gardner, Kansas, and 60 mph in Atchison, Kansas. The high winds toppled trees, downing power lines and smashing cars and rooftops in communities around the Midwest.
A tornado that touched down southwest of Wichita, Kansas, on Sunday afternoon was rated an EF1 on Monday by the National Weather Service. The most powerful is an EF5. The tornado stayed on the ground for about 4.5 miles, with winds of 86-110 mph, the service said.

The tornado damaged homes and outbuildings, felled trees and knocked out power to about 11,000 residents but caused no injuries, said Sharon Watson, spokeswoman for the Kansas Division of Emergency Management.

In southwest Missouri, a tornado touched down shortly after midnight Monday in Barton County, said Tom Ryan, the county's director of emergency management. The tornado damaged some farm buildings and two houses but caused no injuries, he said, noting that it struck in a rural area.
Just east of Barton County, in Dade County, the tornado tore off roofs at a grocery store, golf course and city swimming pool complex in Lockwood, said Bob Kitsmiller, director of emergency management for the county, adding that no injuries were reported.
Forecasters were particularly aggressive in issuing warnings on Sunday evening. The National Weather Service's storm prediction center in Norman, Oklahoma, posted a Twitter alert on a tornado about to strike Pink, a town on the edge of Oklahoma City.
"Large tornado west of Pink!" the post read. "Take cover RIGHT NOW in Pink! DO NOT WAIT!"
The storm also prompted an unusually blunt warning from the central region of the National Weather Service, which covers 14 states.
"You could be killed if not underground or in a tornado shelter," it said. "Complete destruction of neighborhoods, businesses and vehicles will occur. Flying debris will be deadly to people and animals."
Pat Slattery, National Weather Service spokesman for the U.S. Central region, said the advisory was part of a new warning system reserved for severe tornadoes with the potential to form into "supercell" storms, which produce powerful winds and flash flooding.
The tornado season in the United States had been unusually quiet until last week, when a tornado struck the town of Granbury, Texas, killing six people.

Mary J. Blige’s financial troubles have gotten a whole lot worse. The singer has reportedly been hit with a $3.4 million bill on top of the $900K she already owes the state of New Jersey.
Media sources report that the IRS has filed a tax lien against the Grammy winner claiming that she’s avoided her income taxes for 2009 ($574,907.30), 2010 ($2,203,743.53) and 2011 ($647,604.60), putting her total owed to the government at a staggering $3,426,255.43.

Reports show that the R&B singer was socked with a $901,769.65 tax lien in New Jersey back in February. Additionally, Bank of America sued her on Feb. 7 in Manhattan for defaulting on a $500,000 loan she took out in 2005 and stopped paying in 2012, according to records.

Blige — who owns an 18,000-square-foot manse in Saddle River, NJ, and another $2.5 million house in the Palisades overlooking Manhattan — was also hit with a $4,301 judgment for money she owed her Garden State landscaper, court papers showed.

The singer’s Saddle River home, which she bought for $12.5 million in 2008, — with property taxes on the swank spread of nearly $100,000 — has been on the market since 2011, with the asking price dropping from $14 million to $12.5 million.

Blige’s latest money woes are on top of more than $3 million the alleged deadbeat diva and her husband, Martin Isaacs, owe in defaulted mortgages, according to various banks that are also suing them.

Making matters worse, last May it was first reported that Blige’s New York-based charity, set up to empower women, had not filed tax returns, had hundreds of thousands of dollars in missing donations, and had defaulted on a $250,000 TD Bank loan.

At the time, Blige said “The problem is that I didn’t have the right people in the right places doing the right things.”

Akon is doing pretty well financially, but sometimes, even the richest among us have to be pushed to send money for their kids.
But before you put the deadbeat dad label on Akon, check out the circumstances. A judge just ordered that the singer pay up $5,000 per month for his two sons born in 2008 and 2009.

But then again, he may have been taking care of his kids, since he has filed a petition asking that the courts allow his sons to be part of his life.

In a petition filed in GA Superior Court, the singer has asked for joint custody, and to be involved in all important decisions. He also wants his boys to have his last name.

Now, here’s the problem for Akon: He doesn’t know how to keep his “stuff” in his pants. In addition to these two boys, the singer is already making child support payments on six other kids.

If he ever stops making hit records, we might end up talking about the warrant that police put out on his for non-payment of support. Why can’t these guys have just one or two kids like everyone else.

Last month, former Notre Dame and soon-to-be WNBA superstar Skylar Diggins became the third athlete to sign with Roc Nation Sports, Jay-Z's latest project/sports agency.

Yesterday, the people at Roc Nation celebrated Diggins's graduation from Notre Dame by doing exactly what you'd expect an agency that boasts Jay-Z as a figurehead to do: they surprised Diggins with a brand new Mercedes Benz.

If nothing else, this is canny marketing by Roc Nation. The agency's biggest advantage over competitors is its veneer of coolness, and there's nothing cooler than getting a brand new Benz on graduation day.

Jay-Z And Drake Hit the Studio Together Working On New Music!!A photo of Jay-Z in the lab with Drake recently surfaced prompting speculation that the two were working on new music together. The two have worked together in the past on the much-overlooked "Light Up" off Drake's debut Thank Me Later.

The studio shot was posted by producer Lenny S. with the caption "Warning: Please be very afraid of the music we're working on. OVO x ROCNATION."

It is still unknown where the new music will end up, but things are leaning towards Jay-Z's next LP. Jigga man was also spotted in the lab with Raekwon last week.

His last solo album The Blueprint 3 was released in 2009.
