J'adore la Mode - Book Launch

On Thursday, February 12th, we released our first volume of J'adore la Mode ( "I love fashion" in French). The book launch party was planned by Brandy Sorey of Over The Top events! Being that Ethan and Zoey, wanted something cost efficient, unique and fun, Brandy brought that vision to life! Ethan and Zoey wanted to share this new milestone with their favorite beauty vendors in Charlotte NC:

We asked our favorite photographer, Cynthia Ndelo of Cynthia Ndelo Photography (www.cynthiandelophotography.com) to create a live photo shoot and we had Erica Dunn to style our guest during the photo shoot! Let's just say, the ladies had a great time doing the photo shoot!

We had Chef Barry Francois (www.foodbyfrancois.com) create a delicious menu including:
Jerk chicken bruschetta
Shrimp lollipops
Spinach dip egg rolls
Banana pudding martinis

Super yummy!!!

We also had Rasheda with Bar Code Solutions (www.1barcodesolutions.com), a professional bartender and concierge service, create a signature " J'adore la Mode" cocktail ( moscato, grenadine, sprite and strawberry garnish). She also created " Vogue Fizzle" ( pinot noir, mango syrup, sprite and fresh fruit).

All and all it was a great BIG FASHION GIRLS NIGHT OUT!! We had food, fashion, photo shoot, fun and most importantly beautiful people!

So, it’s no secret that we were not created to be the same shape and size. There are many of us who have to work really hard to make an outfit or trend work or to find decent clothes that fit. How many of you know of a sensational taller young lady who frequently has issues with finding pants, or wonderful women who have smaller feet that aren’t able to find a (cute) size 5 shoe in the store? The level of frustration can be quite overwhelming.

Millions of dollars a year are made as a result of Fashionistas from everywhere resorting to custom ordering. Well look no further. Ethan and Zoey are here to help you deal with those issues on a budget!

1. See the potential-
As we stated, we are thrift store lovers! Yes we recognize and understand that everyone is not a fan of wearing someone else's clothes, however, this is a great way to “create” custom pieces. Just because the dress is a size 14 and you are a size 8, doesn't mean you can't buy it. There has been many times that I have purchased an oversized item with intentions of having it altered to fit my shape. Voila-instantly you have a new unique piece at a fraction of the price at sometimes at half the price.

2. Know what works for you-

Fashion trends are always changing. Who would've thought that tie dye would make its way back or acid wash? But its back and people are making it work! Where what your heart desires, there are no rules to the game. Find your flair and stick with it.

3. Embrace what you have-

Take a moment and look in your closet. Ok now pick out that item that you haven't worn. Can you make it into something else? Dress into a crop top/high waist skirt? Remove the sleeves to a shirt? Make jeans into shorts? Use what you have, and take some “Me” time to be creative or to dabble in to a few DIY projects. Customize your closet.

In short be you, get in where “you” fit in.

How to organize your favorite place.... CLOSET

One thing we all have in common is that…. we all have a closet!! And for you frugal fashionista, we know all those thrift store finds are tucked away deep under a pile. No wonder you think you need to shop ALL THE TIME. You clearly can’t see what you have because you need to organize that closet. Ethan and Zoey is here to the rescue. We offer closet consultation and we help organize but wanted to give you a few tips.

Tip 1: Access your closet- start off by looking at what you have the most of. Do you need to downsize or do you need to rock that piece you forgot about? Take a serious inventory of your clothes, accessory and jewelry. This will not only organize your closet but will help your pockets. It’s nothing better than to go the mall in your house. GET IT!! Get your shopping bag ready with stuff you own.

Tip 2: Take a trip to the container store- the container store has so many cool ways to organize your closet and it is affordable. IKEA is also a great place to find affordable ways to organize. For example, hats are a staple for me. I went to the container store and purchased a hat box and stack them in a corner in my room. It looks so fashionable you wouldn’t even realize hats are in the box. LOL

Tip 3: Make harmony in your closet: I don’t know if it’s case of OCD or if it’s just prettier to have matching hangers and shelves. It is nothing wrong going to Salvation Army and finding a shelf and spray paint it with a vibrant or clean color. The more together your closet looks the more you will never leave it to go the mall!! If you have empty drawer space, get a drawer organizer and you can put your jewelry, makeup, belts or any other loose accessory so you can see everything you have.

Shopping With A Purpose

Do you always just shop for what you need or do you find yourself with a cart full of items that you could definitely do without? How is it that we go to the store with a tight budget amount of $20 but when we make it to the register our total is upwards of $100 (or more)? How does this happen to us ALL the time? Is it the pretty packaging of a new tube of lipstick and you just gotta have it? Is it that you were only planning to buy a new bra but somehow ended up in the shoe department, because you found out they were having a sale, and now you have 3 pairs of shoes and a bra?

Woosah-let’s take a break from on what seems to be a never ending roller coaster!

Lately, we have started what’s called “Shopping with a Purpose” AKA Sticking to the game plan. This can be very challenging, but a self-challenge is good for ya’ every now and then.
Take 30 days to follow the “Shopping with a Purpose” challenge which will include the following:
1. Make a list of needed items prior to going in the store. Not a mental note because you will forget and you would lose the challenge. LOL
2. When buying a gift for a friend, don’t buy yourself something too.
3. Don’t go to the store out of boredom. You start to get curious about too many things and the next thing you know you’ve spent hours finding pretty new things that you don’t need.
4. Take only the amount of cash you plan to spend.
5. Set a goal of how much you want to save at the end of the month, this way it will kick you into overdrive to avoid picking up everything.
6. Have enough will power to not be tempted by the salesman who has been telling you everything that you try on looks good (as a matter of fact, don’t even try it on). They are not your friends!
7. Don’t grab a large shopping cart, pick up that little hand held basket.
And last but not least….
8. Have a talk with yourself before going in to the store, this will empower you to be strong enough and committed enough to not overspend.

So ladies and gents we know you can do this; SHOP WITH A PURPOSE! Doing this will not only have you only purchase essentials, but you are shopping less and saving more.

March Frugal Faves

Hey Folks we are back for another blog and we want to bring to you our March Favorites. March Favorites is basically a compilation of our top favorite items of the month. We will review the product, let you know the prices and show you how we rocked it for your viewing pleasure. Ok so now you know the drill, let’s get started…. Now we ALL know Target is a trap…a beautiful nightmare…We don’t know about you but it is almost impossible to walk into Target and stay on task, so after going to Target for some deodorant, somehow we ended up on the shoe aisle and these beauties appeared on our feet!! It appears that Steve Madden has the same shoe; however, there is quite a gap in the pricing.

Beauty ALERT…what woman doesn’t love LIPSTICK?! We have mentioned before how lipstick is a great accessory and we just love Wet n Wild matte lipstick, especially Jania. I mean who doesn’t want a $1.99 or less (sometimes they are buy one get on half off at the drugstore) lipstick, and it actually lasts all day! Can’t beat that!

Our last item is this white H&M blazer. OMG WE LOVE IT AND IT COMES IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT COLORS. Check out both us rocking the white blazer at the SAME TIME!! Gotta love it!

Why HELLO THERE, long time no see!! We have been a little MIA on the blog but have been super busy! Clearly, we need to hire a photographer to capture all of our moments. Sooooooo Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We hope you are as excited about 2014 as we are and WE PROMISE to blog on a monthly basis....at least:)

Well now that we got all that out the way....let's discuss one of our BEAUTIFUL fashion forward friend new business, Pink Culture. Our lovely friend, Tamika Harrell has stepped out and rolled up in a brand new FASHION TRUCK (insert Price is Right dramatic voice here). Can you say fashion on wheels...now this is what we call a mobile boutique!! She had a website launch Sat, Jan 25th and had the honor of being a sponsor. The event was held at Vin Master which is location in Charlotte NC and had some amazing wine!!

This event had raffles, giveaways and fashion!! Jania even won a Hillman T-shirt, since she donated shoes to Pink Culture Momtourage!! It was a awesome event and we are so happy to be asked to be apart of it!!
